As a fan of the Raptors, I'm really happy about the draft overall.  I literally screamed out loud when we picked Villanueva but looking at our 2nd and 3rd picks of Graham and Ukic (amazing pick up in my opinion), I've become EXTREMELY excited about the upcoming season.

I was also surprised not many draft day trades were pulled.  If I remember correctly, it's about the same as last year's draft.  Seems like teams are afraid to pull the trigger on trades in fear of the repercussions from fans.  I know I'd call for Babcock's (the Raptors GM) head if he made the 7th+16th trade for the 3rd.

I can't believe some parts of the media is bashing Bogut for distancing himself from the likes of Luc Longley. Especially the SI dude that keeps saying people who trade their careers to one that is like Longley's...

Big Luc was a slow-arse 7-2 block of meat that can't even block shots or rebound too well. It's only because of the rest of the bulls that made him look even half-decent....

You're right.  Many casuals fans only look at individual stats to judge whether or not a player is good.  I think what really matters is if that player is a winner.

Look at Kobe...look at what happened after Shaq left.  I'm not saying Kobe isn't a good player, it's just that his production (in terms of winning) has dropped significantly after Shaq left.  Who's going to draw the defence away for him now??

As for Bogut, there's no question the guy is a versatile and agile player.  Just looking at highlights for the guy, you can tell he's going to be at least a solid center if not a star.

Bogut >>>> Longley

Redd resigns with the Bucks and Nate signs with the TrailBlazers. I think Nate made the right choice by not staying with Seattle, but Portland....who?

It's all about the money...man Redd just fucked with the Bucks so they could give him the max.

There's not really any good free agents out there, it's gonna be a real boring offseason !!

Hughes in Cleveland will be interesting for sure.  There really wasn't ever a real reason to explain the Cavs sudden fall off late last season.  Hopefully Hughes won't be trying to steal the spotlight from Lebron.

The Blazers are seriously building a scary team (of the future)....Telfair and Outlaw are already in good position to be impact players within 1-2 seasons.

Dude?? Doesn't look like Finley is even gonna come back!! I heard shit that he might go to Phoenix.

Interesting off-season rumors: Antonio Daniels might go to the Lakers, plus they're gonna ship Caron Butler & chump(s) to Washington for Kwame Brown:

http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/3756120

And who knows where the hell Larry Brown will end up??

Aw fuck, hes going back to his first team? Why does everyone do that...

and I don't give a damn about Larry Brown. I don't even think he should coach because of his health conditions.

Heh, the Lakers are really trying to stock up on young talent (well, Kwame and Daniels are considered relatively young).  I still think Kwame has the potential to become a decent player...it's just that he's only shown flashes of skill so he hasn't really lived up to his potential yet.

Did anybody read about the verbal feud between the Lakers' new young center Bynum and Shaq?  Hahahah, Shaq said he won't listen to wahtever he says cause Bynum doesn't have a college degree and that he (Bynum) should refer to Shaq as "Dr. Shaq" cause he (Shaq) is working on his Phd.

^ LMAO. I didn't hear about that. I never get tired of Shaq cracking back on the Lakers. *sigh* Lakers need help at the point FOREVER. Size man! I like  this from ESPN Insider

Quote
It looks like free agent point guard Antonio Daniels has narrowed his choices down to the Lakers and Blazers. It would appear that the Lakers would be a no-brainer. Phil Jackson loves big guards and the Lakers, now that they've agreed to trade Chucky Atkins, could offer him a starting position. However, two things are holding him back. One, the Lakers want Daniels to sign a two-year deal. This has been the Lakers mantra all summer as they try to protect potential max cap space during the summer of 2007 so that they can make a run at Yao Ming in free agency. Daniels, who turned 30 in March, wants more job security, and feels he can get it from his other suitors.

Two, new Blazers head coach Nate McMillan loved Daniels in Seattle and has been pushing to get him to come aboard as a tutor for Sebastian Telfair. The Jazz, Heat, Magic and Cavs have also shown interest in Daniels.

Sonics are losing a bunch of guys! Even Jerome James and his huge playoffs left.

LOL. How about Cleveland getting "serious" and making use of their cap room: Donny Marshall and Larry Hughes should be good - BUTT they're gonna be pretty soft on defense.

...NOO!! Antonio Daniels is now in a verbal agreement with the Wizards:

Looks like it'll be a bit longer before everything is officially settled.  The NBA has pushed back the official date of signings back from Friday because of the ongoing CBA talks.

Bleh, I want to see if the Raps end up signing Ukic and Calderon.

Man, I thought cavs were going to be rid of Z.....
Oh well.

Houston's front court is damn scary...Yao and Swift in the middle is going to be pretty intimidating

Hmmm, I'm not too sure about the Houston front court.  Swift isn't exactly known for his lockdown defense and Yao seems to average a low amount of rebounds per game (relative to his size).  I would have expected him to avg at least 10 per game.

Man, I can't wait for the official signing period to begin....training camp is too far away!
