My friend, a long-time Lakers fan and basketball ethusiast, chimed in with this prediction:

Lakers in 7. Celtics don't have the material on the bench to stay with LA. Their reserves are too young and inexperienced (Big Baby) or too old and slow (Cassell). LA's reserves are young, but well tested the last three years, and in their prime.

So...  what team should I (non-fan) root for?

Lakers man. It's that whole redemption story that Hollywood dreams for. Kobe finally realizing his place in the all time greats. Taking on a tried and tired veteran crew that just doesn't have it in their tank. Boston has no answer for Kobe. Every player from 1 to 12 can execute the triangle Phil Jackson designs with ease.

Life is GOOD. Magic Johnson made me a NBA fan. I been all hyped up - Gotta admit I'm pretty nervous. Been watching all this Magic-Bird, Celtics-Lakers history segments. Kareem taking no shit. Good thing Viyuden last concert ain't during this time else we'd get nothing done. I been playing this game all my life:

WOw...what a comeback from the Celtics in game 4. I thought it was a sure win for the Lakers, but they just lost their composure or something.

FuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuCKKKKKKKKK!!!

This series has taken a toll on me mentally. So much booze and days without showering. The best shit yet. The highs and fucking lows. BUT HOLY SHIT ... that #24. Seriously man, I was ready to choke a bitch. Beat the fuck outta someone. Come here and ban a chump or two.

But I'm calm. Like Kobe and Phil are. Just take it a game a time. Take the positives in what they did in the first. This series ain't over yet. Chop the tree down one at a time.

I BELIEVE!!! LAKERS IN FUCKING SEVEN!!!

I know, I was really surprised that the Celts pulled it off in Game 4. I turned it off before halftime when they were down by 20.

Sorry Dai, but my boys are gonna win this Sunday! XD

It's a good game and too bad Spurs lost, but I still have faith in them and think they are going to win the series but then lose to probably Celtics in the final.  If Celtics lose, they should fire Doc Rivers ass..... how can you get that kind of roster but still struggle in the playoff?

Ray Allen is struggling but he should not struggle forever... Paul Pierce hasn't play up to his level too except that game 7.

Again the Lakers 2nd unit (Turiaf / Farmer / Vujacic) helped win the game, Kobe is Kobe and he can scores and sometimes he decides to stack up assists like tonight, but it's the 2nd unit that beat the Spurs in game 1.  I hope Ginobili won't struggle like Ray Allen or Spurs is pretty much done.  Spurs 2nd unit (Finley / Barry / Thomas) needs to play much better too....... but from what game 1 shows.... they are probably too old and pretty much done.  Although Udoka didn't have his best night, but I think he was the only guy that brought the game tonight.

Celtics FTW just as predicted.   :D

Nice chokejob, fakers.

Kobefags BAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWW

People magazine recently reported that Marko Jaric, a forward on the T-Wolves, and Victoria's Secret model Adriana Lima are engaged.

Adriana has said she wouldn't have sex before marriage, so it looks like Marko Jaric is going to be the first person to bang her. :O

Is Garnett a franchise player?

from FanNation.com

I know, how dare I mock Kevin Garnett? How many times have we seen the $20 million-plus wonder beat on his chest, pull on his jersey and scream obscenities after dunking on some schmuck during the regular season? Now here he is at the highest plateau short-arming freebies while stumbling around inside guarded by giraffe Pau Gasol either taking fade-away jumpers or looking to have the refs bail him out. "Where's the fire when K.G. is down 20?" Ron Artest declared in the first half of Game 4. "Watch how he goes back to huddle like a puppy. You're either a soldier all the time or you're not. You can't be a part-time soldier." Where was Garnett's cockiness in Sunday's potential closeout game? I want to know. Already minus your starting center due to Kendrick Perkins' shoulder injury, the Celtics needed K.G. to pull a Cedric Maxwell and carry his teammates on his back. Instead the Counterfeit Ticket spent 15 minutes on the bench on account of infantile reaching fouls. Articulate after me: "Fake Franchise Player."

Nellie-Cuban dispute continues

from FanNation.com

Don Nelson's claim of foul against Mavericks owner Mark Cuban is going to arbitration. The two sides met unsuccessfully Monday in a mediation attempting to settle the disagreement over wages that Nelson and his attorney say were owed to the former Mavericks coach from previous ownership. Nelson, who resigned with 18 games left in the 2004-05 season, claims he deferred more than $6 million in salary from the Ross Perot Jr. ownership after he assumed coaching duties late in 1997. Cuban, who declined to comment Monday, purchased the team from Perot in 2000. The Cuban-Nelson rift began during his coaching tenure and dates to when the Mavericks lost point guard Steve Nash to Phoenix in free agency after the 2003-04 season.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Doc vs. Phil: No mismatch after all

Going into the NBA Finals, the Lakers were assumed to have a decided edge in coaching. After all, we're talking about nine-time NBA champion Phil Jackson against relative neophyte Doc Rivers, who had never coached a team out of the first round in four previous trips to the playoffs.

Rivers, however, has shown that he certainly isn't overmatched. He has more than held his own and forced Jackson to react to his moves more than the other way around. So far, the Celtics have been smarter and more focused than the Lakers, in part because of Rivers' presence.
