Title: One Minute (Chapter 13, two days in a row!)
Post by: heyyouhiya on May 13, 2008, 03:12:09 PM
So I actually don't know if this is okay...but I don't care
I wrote this not really thinking of anyone in particular, but a whole story evolved from it
and I find I write better if its a fanfiction and I think this will fit the H!P girls perfectly =]

I'll be slowly writing this one (alongside settling which I hope to finish in the next couple of weeks)
what can I say, I can't write one thing at a time xD and with summer approaching I'll probably be witting a whole lot more.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Prolouge

I remember everything about that minute. Your sympathetic gaze as you set the small digital watch on the table counting down from a minute. The feeling I can only explain as cold slowly spreading throughout the room. How every move that was made seemed to take an eternity, while still passing all too quickly.

You finally turned toward me, the raw emotion in your eyes was bewitching and painful at the same time. You looked so fragile, like glass. It felt that if I even breathed you would surely shatter into a million pieces. You were in so much blatant pain that it hurt to look at you. It was as if you were reading my mind, for we both looked away at the same time.

You turned to stare blindly out the window, your long hair shielding your eyes like a curtain. I busied myself by staring at the numbers slowly going down on the small watch.

Thirty-two seconds

The air was thick. I could feel my lungs tensing and my heart beating louder. I was certain you could hear it. I don't even know why I was scared. But a cold feeling had spread around the room and left me empty.

It felt like hours before you finally spoke. I knew it hadn't been that long because my eyes never broke their gaze at the clock.

Twenty-five seconds.

"Goodbye"

Those words hung in the air between us. Strangely my heart didn't quicken; I think it just stopped. I looked up, you hadn't moved. It was almost as if you had never spoken.

"What? Going on vacation and you didn't invite me?" Joking was all I could think to do in order to stay calm. My own laughter rang in my ears.

You looked back at me with a sheepish grin before turning back to the window. I walked over and reached my hand out to touch your face, almost to make sure you were really there. To my horror, I realized I was crying.

I pulled back quickly and turned away trying to wipe away my tears. I don't know why or how, but my eyes found there way back to that damned clock.

Five seconds.

You slowly reached up and cupped my cheek in one of your hands. It was a warm and gentle touch; I was your most prized possession.

You managed to catch my eyes again. I think the world stopped for a moment under your calm, unflinching gaze. It seemed like I could see straight through your eyes and into your very being. Pain, confidence, fear, joy, understanding...and then I blinked and the moment was over. I felt a sharp pain spread from my cheek through my entire body, and I was alone.

I didn't need to look at the clock; I knew it displayed zero. I reached up to touch my cheek where your warmth had been moments before. I could feel my whole body becoming numb. I leaned my forehead against the cold forgiving glass of the window and laughed.

I understood everything now.

^I think that about sums it up.

I'm very intrigued with this story. I hope you don't take too long to put up the next chapter because I know I will be pondering immensely over this until you do.

Maybe...umm...time travel??? But why the pain?...hmm...

I think I'm thinking too much in to it.

Yay! I look forward to it. I'm reading this with the two people that I can't get enough of at the minute (in fanfics) in the two roles. I think I will be kinda gutted if it's not them, but I will still continue reading. Maybe you could tell us who it is before you post the next chapter... oh wait, no don't tell us, let it be a surprise... gah, sunday is too far away.

As for my theory, I'm probably way out. I bet it's something quite simple, but I'll stick with that theory for the hell of it.

noooo~! not another ishoiyoshoi!

I thought it was YoMako! Cause of the goodbye thing. maybe it was a dream that yoshi had about Mako leaving. I read some of the lines somewhere else in the same context before..... weird. it slike de ja bvou. I like the idea of YoMako, if not then YoMiki.

I first thought Yoshi because of the joke thing, then I thought either Miki or Mako (Bacause I really didn't want it to be RIka) and then I thought, maybe, just maybe tis Mako apologising for going to Aus. I thought maybe ist how she broke the news to her. Then you said the disapearing thing and I thought maybe it was a dream. either way, really interesting stuff, and Id like to read more if possible.

Hmmm... whats this a puzzle  :ding:
Brainstorming time  :glasses:
Okay fact one girl in dream has long hair so :dunno: :
Rika
Miki
Konno
Risa
Ai no wait she cut it
Sayu
Reina
Koharu
Jun Jun
Lin Lin

but I highly doubt its Lin Lin, Jun Jun, Koharu, Reina, Sayu or Risa so new list :mon study: :
Rika
Miki
Konno
Risa
Sayu
Reina
Koharu
Jun Jun
Lin Lin

So the dreamer could be Yossie or Mako I doubt Aya so...

Umm... I'm gonna say this is Mako dreaming about Konno :bingo:
.... maybe I know its kinda random

a couple flaws in theories...
So I'm going to clarify some stuff that will probably make this more confusing; not less
mua hahaha

It is not a break up scene- so don't think they are any two people from common pairings
Not a dream
not time travel

Now...what could it be? hmm *stokes beard*

muahahaha

^ Nope not a ghost either

and ^^; heheh I'm just letting you all know I got slammed with writing two papers this week soooo...
I have most of the first chapter written..but not edited at all
It will probably be more like tomorrow when I get it up
But no later than tomorrow! I promise =]
Title: Re: One Minute (Prolouge)

astral projection?
Memory?
And is it an uncommon pairing like KameShige (you knoe, not common but still existing) or like GotoYui (First time couple -as far as you knoe)?

and is that bit set now? Or is it in the past which would mean iat could be Ai?

New crazy idea
Ai/Mako
or
Risa/Konkon

but long hair screams "Kaorin" to me.....
Title: Re: One Minute (Prolouge)
Post by: Kreuz_Asakura on May 19, 2008, 12:34:52 AM
I'm going crazy but I would really like this idea:
Aya/Yossy :mon geek:

well, and about the situation :mon huh2: :mon dunno: :mon pick: :mon huh: :mon duh:  I give up :mon exhaust:
not a dream, not a ghost.... maybe they are in the future and Aya is an hologram :mon lol: but now that I think about it an hologram doesn't feel warm so  :mon yo:
ahhh... better I just wait :mon impatient:

Guess who was able to get the first chapter done!!
Anyways, some things I should explain:
Because of how the plot is I changed a lot of ages, but its not even set that they're idols in the story so I don't think it matters.
Also, its more of a fantasy or science fiction story than anything...

Chapter 1: Smack

2 1/2 months earlier

Mangled steel was strewn across a small street in a fairly low populated area just north of the big city Tokyo. Various people slowly gathered around it confused as to how a tree could suddenly fall down and land on top of a man driving by in a small car. The whole area seemed to be in a huff over the incident as the local authorities began to arrive.

Well, everyone was panicking except one person who had slipped into a local coffee shop right after the tree had fallen. The shop owners weren’t even there, for they had run out to see the wreckage. The girl who could be no older that twenty stared out the window with a blank expression on her face as she watched the police pull the man out from the tree.

He was bleeding profusely from the head and his arm was sticking out in a strange angle, presumably broken. When an ambulance arrived and the paramedics began to stop the bleeding and put a brace around his neck, the young girl turned away and walked over to the counter.

She glanced down at her watch. There wasn’t a time displayed there like a normal watch would have; but rather it seemed to be counting down to something. Currently it read: “16:48:51.” Obviously it represented hours, minutes and seconds as the fifty-one was scrolling down quickly.

The girl sighed and ran a hand through her long brown wavy hair as she peered over the counter to see if anyone would serve her a cup of coffee. She had on a white collard shirt that was slightly puffy on the ends with a stripped black and white tie loosely hung around her neck. Her pants were black and then to contrast the black and white scheme, she had on bright yellow tenni-shoes.

Tapping said shoes and crossing her arms over her chest she finally got fed up and hopped over the counter. She watched out the window as she prepared coffee for herself. They were now trying to keep any more blood from escaping as they lifted the man onto a stretcher. She sighed; anyone looking on could tell that this man was going to die any second now.

She looked at her watch once more. “16:47:01” and then in a blink of an eye it flashed “00.” Smiling wickedly the girl looked up at the wreckage once more. It seems they haven’t noticed yet as they were still trying to save him.

Grabbing her cup of coffee she leapt over the counter once more and headed out the door, pressing a side button on the watch as she did. There was a strange white mist now floating above the mans corpse that no one but her seemed to notice. As she approached, while nonchalantly sipping her drink, the mist quivered slightly. Once she got about ten feet from the body the paramedics suddenly panicked as they finally noticed the man they had been trying to save had passed on.

Rolling her eye she lifted her arm bearing the watch slightly towards them causing the mist to quiver again. Pushing another button it slowly began to seep towards and into the face of the watch.

“What the…” she whispered as suddenly the mist stopped flowing into the face of her watch and it began to beep. No one could hear the beeping as the mans death had caused another wave of panic amongst the on lookers. Staring down at the watch it now flashed in a blood red color, “100%.”

Growling the girl threw down the coffee, causing a few stares, and marched away from the accident. “Fuck,” Fujimoto Miki mumbled as she made her way down various streets and to the local church.

* * * * *

Takahashi Ai glanced to her right to find her good friend Niigaki Risa sleeping peacefully on her desk as the teacher lectured. Her black hair was strewn across her face in a very messy fashion as she stirred slightly. Ai smiled to herself and glanced back out the window to the court yard below.

Suddenly she heard a loud whack and whirled her head around to see the teacher standing above Risa. “EHH!!??” She yelled loudly looking around the room confused. Everyone in the class began to giggle in there matching navy blue uniforms as Risa rubbed the back of her head.

“If you are that tired you might as well not come to school!” The teacher yelled, pointing her finger in the young girls face.

She bowed her head slightly, “I’m sorry it won’t happen again.”

“It best not,” the teacher scolded and she returned to the head of the classroom.

Ai sighed, she knew in the next five minutes Risa would be sleeping once again and then probably be kicked out of the classroom like usual. It’s a wonder she hasn’t been expelled yet. For a first year in high school she sure picked up a bad reputation with the teachers fast. Probably the only reason she got decent grades was because Ai would always help her…

Just as predicted, ten minutes later Ai watched as the teacher drug Risa out of the classroom by her ear and assigned her extra work. Lucky for her she didn’t have to stand out in the hall long as the bell rang not even five minutes after that.

Ai gathered up her things and went over to her other friend Kamei Eris desk. “Do you think Gaki will ever stay awake in at least one class?”

Eri shook her head laughing as she stood up slinging her bag over one shoulder. “I highly doubt it.”

The two exited the classroom and joined Gaki, as they called her, to head off home. Both of them playfully made fun of the sleepy girl as they walked.

Soon that daily ritual got boring and they began to talk of other things. Gaki looked over at Ai smiling mischievously. “So Ai-chan, did you hear our little Eri has her eye on a girl in our class?”

Eri turned a bright shade of red and immediately smacked Gaki across the back of her head hard, “Gaki!”

She rubbed the back of her head once again, “Eri what’d you do that for? I’m just trying to inform Ai about your crush on Michishige. Ow!” Eri had smacked her once again and stuck her nose up in the sky.

“I can’t believe I told you that,” she grumbled as Ai began to laugh at the two of them.

Gaki was still rubbing her head as she also laughed. “Oh like it isn’t obvious.” This time she was able to duck and avoid Eris hand as it swung down once again.

“So Eri,” Ai said sounding serious. “When are you going to propose to her?”

Eri growled slightly and looked away. “Never.”

“Aww why? You two would be so cute! A turtle and a bunny, I can see it now.” This time Gaki wasn’t able to avoid another smack on the head. “Stop hitting me!” she whined.

“Then shut up!”

“No.” Smack. “Stop!”

The two began to quarrel and Ai couldn’t help but just laugh and watch. The two would do this all the time it was a miracle they were actually friends. Soon however, she had to break off from the group as they got to her house.

Ai waved at the two as they walked away continuing to argue.

And Ai-chan, Gaki and Kame are so cute! Oooo, Kame has a crush on Shige! So adorable!
Can't wait for an update! I'm not sure my comment is as wonderful as you'd like.

I read the first chapter...thought it was a break up story and then I read the second chapter...wow...this changes things a lot   I wonder who died in the first chapter

So far this story is just excellent.  I really like the first chapter, I read it twice!  (it was so sad the first time..but then I read it again after the second chapter...the second time was just heartbreaking!)  the second chapter on the other hand was very cute!  Yay! so far the story has all my favourite characters.  I like the contrasting modes between the two chapters...I have a feeling the end is going to hit me like a ton of bricks...but since this story just started I can't wait for the next chapter~  :w00t:

Huh? WTF is Miki??? Now I'm even more intrigued.

Risa falling asleep in class is so cute  If you were in a classroom with her and she kept sleeping, at least you could stare at her without her knowing  I love the interaction between the 3 of them and Eri already being in love with Sayumi is adorable. Hopefully there will be some TakaGaki love. Or even better...TanaGaki.

Can't wait for the continuation.

i think i got it now Miki's the grim reaper so that means in the first chapter she had to take the soul/mist thing from someone she bonded with (aya)  :bingo:
Anywho I love the Ai, Risa, Eri interaction it was AWESOME I laughed so hard:

Soon that daily ritual got boring and they began to talk of other things. Gaki looked over at Ai smiling mischievously. “So Ai-chan, did you hear our little Eri has her eye on a girl in our class?”

I'm stuck wondering what it was that got Miki pissed off after she collected that one guy's soul. It has to be more than just a coincidence that her watch started beeping after he entered it. Does her watch act as some type of gateway/portal? If so, where do the souls go? And what's the significance of her watch turning red and having the "100%" displayed on it?
:dunno:

Aichan/Risa/Eri = wuvable LULZ.

However, something tells me they're going to be getting a visitor soon. :O

This is very interesting... I like science fiction stories so I'm going to follow this :)
Title: Re: One Minute (Chapter 1)
Post by: sweeety on May 20, 2008, 04:41:04 AM
Me thinks she waits till they die (of course she knows when that is) and she takes their soul.. The watch saying 100% means its full of souls and she has to let them go to the next plane of existence and whatnot and Risa Eri and Ai probbably will get to meet her or something.. Or maybe Ai will become one.. Possibly after getting killed  by a falling space ttoilet.... ok thats from a show.

I reckon the other girl in the start is Aya but the bit about Risa having black hair and the fact tat I have no proof of her even existing makes me think that maybe the other girl in the beginning will be her (Risa).

About Eri, I think she will get with Sayu eventually and hopefully Risa and Ai will get together.

And I hope that in the end Aya and Miki find a way to be together... But then again it could always be Yosh..... I mean, black is her original hair colour so it could easilly be her before she dyed it......

But hang on, does this mean that the person in the start is diseased? Because that would explain the sudden dropping dead. I don't think she has the deathtouch or anything, it seems the watch is the only abnormal thing about her.. But I think she probably can't touch people because of some magic that would cause catastrophic events to occur.

This is such an interesting story and I cannot wait for the next chapters. I hope you post again soon! Mwah! cya!

These are awesome theories
Some of them are leaning on correct too =]
I won't tell you which ones...but its getting close

Oh but as much as you guess love the Ai/Risa/Eri interation
I'm letting you know in advance that Eri (and Sayu) are very side story and I don't consider them main characters =]
But they'll still be there a little

Anyways, here is a little gift for all of you that has the potential to confuse even more
what can I say...I personally even haven't figured this all out to complete understanding myself...and probably never will (and its my own idea xD)...but enough to tell the story
It's an almost trailer...thats more like an introduction to characters and such
oh and I think I mixed up the last ones name by putting it in the wrong order...(not putting name here so you have to watch the trailer to know one of the characters haha)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9P9IWTTxa5g (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9P9IWTTxa5g)

I actually can't remember if they are in a particular order
I think I just put them in that order because of who I found clips I want to use of first...
But yea very short and just to keep you all amused until I get out of school this Thursday and shall have an unlimited (sort of) time to write =]

ok so now im more confused  :sweatdrop: but this is what i think now yossie and miki are grim reapers :dunno: or something like that they're not human since there both really over 500yrs old yet look like teens...  but whats with aya not having an age :mon huh: and koharu (the mistake,  teehee i caught it :P ) being 0  :tama-uhh:   Noooo  :mon scare: that just gives me a whole bunch of questions with  :err: guess i have to ponder that later
but the trailer was awesome!! :mon thumb: and got me even more excited for the next chapters  :mon beam:

That trailer was really good but has made me slightly more confused.

I'm not too upset that Eri and Sayumi will be more of a side story as it looks like Risa has a main part. Just don't forget the pair of them completely though.

I'm also wondering the same as shadowolf8. Will Reina pop up in this story anywhere?

Damn you for updating thursday (possibly). I'm not gonna be able to read it until saturday afternoon

Ooo from the trailer I'm going to have to guess that

Ayaya isn't human nor shinigami because she doesn't have an age
Yossie is a shinigami..who is probably Miki's boss since she's older
the both of them probably go to school with the others to blend in with society
Koharu is a newborn shinigami? or another type of being since her age is 0
Risa and Ai chan are the only humans in the trailer...so it's either gaki/ai who ran out of time in chapter 1

now I can't wait to read more and see if any of my guesses are even close XD

The trailer is awesome! Soo kakkoiiii~ The song sounds like the theme for cold case. I'm still confused so I'll wait for an update.
PS: I watched the trailer for Settling too! It was so romantic! The ending was love!

Ok yes it is the song from Cold Case
I have the entire thing if anyone wants it

Honestly I'd be surprised if anyone guesses it.. (in reference to guessing what Miki is...)
because I tried to think of something completely original and so Idk if someone has made this up before
(I hope they haven't but it can almost be guaranteed that there is something extraordinarily similar that I just don't know about xD)

Anyways, I had a shitty work day and so writting is my only out let haha so I wrote the next chapter like just now.
Hope its not too bad because I won't be editing it for a while =]

Chapter 2: Pictures

The church was completely empty and reeked of the smell of burned candles. Miki wrinkled her nose as she walked inside and slowly began to make her way up to the head of the church. Looking around she studied the various stained glass designs as they shown bright colors onto the empty seats.

One in particular caught her eye as it depicted a young girl who was being beaten by a man, presumably her father, and everyone else just stood and watched. Miki walked over and stared intently at the glass. Memories began to flood into Mikis brain as she started to become angry and frustrated as she stared at the people in the art work doing nothing to help this defenseless girl.

Suddenly she involuntarily struck the glass hard with her fist and it cracked, with a few pieces falling to the ground. She stood for a moment with her hand held against the glass, breathing heavily and she stared down at the floor attempting to calm herself. Soon she noticed a faint trickle of red seeping down the glass and she realized she was bleeding.

Pulling away, causing a few more shards to fall to the ground, she glanced over at the next window.  There you could see the same girl who was now bruise and bloody being protected by a young man who was now scolding the villagers for doing nothing. The father was hanging his head in shame and Miki couldn’t help but think he’s not actually sorry. But she couldn’t tear her eyes away from the young man.

She bit down on her lip so hard that it also began to bleed and her eyes narrowed as rage overcame her again. Looking back at the first window she pulled back her already bleeding fist and struck at it harder than before. The window cracked and shattered; leaving a nice pile of glass on the floor of the church. Miki looked through the hole she had created to the sunny outside world and sighed.

“Too bad it’s just glass,” she mumbled before walking back to the isle to continue her path to the head of the church. She took the two steps up to the stage and stood in front of a huge wooden cross. Miki took one final look at the shards pain obvious in her eyes, “It breaks so easily.”

She made her way around, behind the cross and mumbled something that was not human sounding. There was no noise, no great portal, not even a tiny pop, as she disappeared into the cross.

* * * * *

As Risa and Eri walked away still arguing about Eri and her crush on the new student Michishige, Risa glanced back at Ai. She smiled as she watched her best friend of five years enter the house Gaki had always known her to live in. Soon she turned her attention back to Eri as to not raise any eyebrows at her watchful behavior.

Ai yawned a little as she opened up her front door and was immediately greeted by a smaller persons smiling face. “Sisters home!” the young girl yelled as she grabbed onto Ai who smiled in response.

“How are you Aika?”

Aika smiled up at Ai, “I’m good. Dad is home.”

And immediately after that statement, a tall man with black hair walked into the entry way. “Welcome home Ai," he said smiling at her.

Ai bowed her head slightly. “Well, I can’t stay for long. Choir practice is in thirty minutes. I just came home to changed.”

“About that,” he paused. “I actually need you to stay home and watch after Aika. I have work to do.”

Ai was about to protest, but she knew she couldn’t leave Aika home alone. She was only nine years old. Sighing but trying to not sound to disappointed Ai agreed to watch Aika.

The father smile approvingly and brushed past them out the door. “Want to see the picture I drew today?” Aika innocently asked up at Ai, who smiled nodding. The younger girl ran out of the room and into the kitchen, with Ai following closely behind. She brought her a crayon drawing with two people on it. One of them was slightly taller and labeled “Ai.” The other was shorter with the label “me.”

Ai couldn’t help but smile as she looked at how happy Aika had drawn herself next to her. It was really sweet. But suddenly, she frowned as she looked down at the bottom right corner where she had written her name: Mitsui Aika.

“What’s the matter?” The little girl asked as she peered up at her older sister.

“It’s nothing I just wish…” she paused and decided not to complete that statement. “You know what, never mind. This is a wonderful drawing. I’m going to hang it on the fridge right now.” Aika smiled as she watched Ai hang the drawing on the fridge with two magnets. “There it has a proper place in our house now. So what would you like for dinner?” I expect mother won’t be home again tonight.

* * * * *

Miki waded through the mass of people waiting in line to go someplace most people deserve and very few wish to go. The entrance to what some might call hell and others Hades. It has various names and no one could truly answer the right or wrong one as it truly didn't matter.

She noted how everyone around her seemed to have a black mist floating around them, while Miki looked about as alive as ever. Soon she reached the entrance and the man in front noticed her lack of mist and let her pass without a question, just a small smirk. She glared at him for a moment as she walked past and into the maze of stairs and tunnels.

Having been to this place many times before Miki would need no help in finding where she needed to go. It took her twelve flights of long stairs to reach where she was presumably heading after all that time. It was a large black mansion with no door on the entrance. Just a sheet black mist was in the doorway. Miki easily walked through it and came into a room that looked mildly like the lobby of a hotel. Not what one would expect down there.

A demon with a scruffy looking tie around his neck looked up at her and grinned wickedly. “Fujimoto, we were wondering if you would ever come back.” He placed his elbows on his desk and leaned his head on his hands staring at her.

She rolled her eyes and marched up to him. Slamming the still beeping watch down on the table she spoke rather coldly, “I’m only here because it’s full.”

He jumped a little when she approached but soon his smirk was back. “You know the boss doesn’t like to hear that. It means you weren’t able to completely contain one soul.”

“Yea yea, whatever. Just empty it already.” She looked away from him and around the room which was basically plain except for the desk this demon sat at.

He glared at her once more while she wasn't looking, before hopping down from his stool and sulking off into another room with the watch in hand.

Miki tapped her foot against the floor as she waited impatiently for his return. However, when he did return she was not pleased. He came walking behind another demon who was almost human looking in appearance.

“Ah Fujimoto. A pleasure,” He beamed at her, but there was obviously displeasure in his voice.

“Cut the crap, I know you’re angry.”

“Now what would give you that idea,” he drawled running his hand along her face. She immediately pulled away from him with a look of disgust.

Staring him down like he was a vial creature she almost growled at him, “Just because you helped me doesn’t mean I’ll be nice. I’m nice to no one.”

He smirked, “Ahhh but you’re nice to Yoshizawa…”

Miki didn’t respond as he walked around her like some cat who had cornered his pray and was preparing to strike. Impatient with his games she spoke quickly, “What the hell do you want? Or do I have permission to leave to live the life that you gave me?”

His deep laugh bounced off the walls creating a creepy echo. “You really should learn to be nice.” She said nothing, just glared. “Actually, I have a much different assignment for you. You may recall those first few hundred years? When it was Yoshizawa, yourself and Miss Matsuura?”

“Yes, what’s your point?” The demon was probably aware that the statement he had just made had struck a very painful chord in Mikis heart for her voice was slightly higher pitched and raspy as if holding back emotions.

“Well,” he said pleased at the response he was receiving from Miki. As much as she could be cold to him, he still had the overall power and liked for her to know and respect that. “You’ll be the Matsuura to someone new.”

The fire was back in Mikis eyes as she glared at him, “Are you crazy? What the hell makes you think I will do that for some snobby brat?”

He paused his walking and smirked at her. “Because you have to.”

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO SHE HAS TO BE KOHARU'S MATSUURA!!!!!!!!! Also evil church, she was the girl and he was the man... poor Miki, owing her life to such an evil man....... I think I figured it out now. He owns her soul and in order not to go to hell she is repaying him by claiming the souls of the innocent or some other kind....

And I am guessing something horrible happened to Ayaya.. gtg, hoep I get to edit this post later but I will be busted if I stay longer... mwah, GJ

Wow! This chapter makes the story all the more intriguing! There's so much more not revealed to us yet  :D Hope there is some flashback to hundred of years ago..I want to know what happen then  :hip angel:  I guess that the prologue is about Aya and Miki hundred of years ago and maybe Aya left Miki and the scar in Miki's heart has yet to recover. Then, maybe Miki ishesitant to be another Matsuura because she doesn't want to hurt another person in a way which Aya did many years ago.  :( And the trailer rocks big time!

Either Aika's adopted...or Aichan's mother had an affair with the guy who was Aika's father. :O

First few hundred years??? :o

Aya and Yossi were doing the same thing that Miki's doing?

Okay, the fact that he specifically mentions "someone new" leads me to believe that Miki's going to be a mentor-type of figure (like she's going to be training a new recruit or something).  That would mean that Aya had a similar role when Miki was new. Question now is, what happened to Aya (and Yossi, for that matter). The demon's earlier statement implied that the 3 of them worked together, so where are they now? What separated them?

So something happened in Miki's past that involves abuse...maybe her own father? And I think Aika's adopted. And Miki is some kind of devil soul catcher person.....and Yossy and Ayaya used to do it too? And Miki is gonna be a senpai to a new soul catching person? This was a good chapter, opening a lot more doors and more questions! Can't wait for another update!!!!
Sorry that I'm kinda not making sense.....

haha funny how we all guessed pretty much the same thing... except I put my guesses in a PM coz I didn't want to take up space and annoy people.. coz my random messages annoy sum ppl..

Anyway, from what I have gathered

 Miki is evil
 That dude is really evil
Miki doesn't seem to like her job so I am going to assume she is being forced to do it
 She is friends with Yoshi
I am going on a limb saying this but guessing that she and Yoshi and Aya were all working  the same job, although it seems that Aya is out of the pic now as in either dead or just moved or something. Either way it's obvious she and Miki can't be together right now, in other words someone or something is keeping her from Miki.
Yoshizawa is still working like Miki (guess though)
Ai and Risa are going to become much more important in this story
One of the girls in the start is either Miki or Ai
The other girl is either Aya, Risa or Koharu
I am guessing Koharu is also evil
Another guess is that Koharu is the new 'Fujimoto' to Miki's 'Matsuura' or a baddie even bigger and badder than the dude if not the same as Miki but just really annoying
I am hoping Koharu dies but doubting it.
I think that Ai's dad either walked out on her or died or just divorced her mum and the mum remarried. BUT it looked like somehow both girls lived with the same dad and since Ai called him dad too and not stepdad Im gonna go ona  limb and say he is her dad and something happened to Aika's dad.

Maybe he died or did the things I thought Ai's dad did. Either way their only connection is the same mum, which we haven't seen yet so is it safe to assume she died with Ai's stepdad? That's what I thought. I thought maybe Aika's parents died so her sisters' dad took her in.....

What else? ok, about Sayu and Eri, they will probably get together or die, either way it wont matter much because they are so not main characters but if I had to guess I would say that Eri gets Sayu and drifts away from Risa and Ai and then she and Sayu do teir own lil thing while Ai and Risa are dealing with the supernatural aspect of the story, meanwhile we don't hear abou tthem because they are together and busy hanging out together and not with the main characters or something.
Also I think Miki was in the same situation as the girl in the picture and Ayaya was probably the man that helped her (but she was a girl............unless she used the goatee/sideburn props XD)
I think they were in love and something happened and they couldn't be together and that is one of the reasons why she is so reluctant to be a new girls' mentor/Matsuura thingy
Also I think a Matsuura in the way he meant it is a mentor who will teach someone to be evil and steal souls
Maybe they also steal hearts.... we only saw the soul bit but maybe the dude also fell for her. I dunno, maybe that is how she became one in the first place, falling for Aya... maybe that is why she wont be with her, because she fell for her and realised she was doing it to get her soul or to turn her. And even if she really loved Mii back, Miki could be angry with her all these years and that is why they are not together.... aww then poor Ayaya would be sad and lonely for centuries, waiting for forgiveness or somtheing

anywayz gtg mwah keep up the awesomeness! Luv yah

Ok so here's another guess:

I don't know what the deal with miki and aya is yet to make any assuptions but whatever happened it wasn't good either shes dead or she betrayed miki in someway I'm probably wrong but like I said before I love that after each chapter I have no idea what's going on  :P

So I don't really like this chapter...most likely it shall be revised later
just more detail. The main concept of the chapter won't change of course...and the information you get from it won't change...but I can't edit it now cuz I feel a little sick and need to lie down.

Chapter 3: Reminders

Maybe if I stab myself over and over in the eye with that stick this could be less painful. Miki eyed a small twig that had fallen on the ground as she sat under a tree in a park next to her new pupil, Kusumi Koharu.

“Why me?” she mumbled as she watched the younger girl frolicking around the grass. “This is taking way to long…” She stood up, “Koharu!” she yelled and the younger girl fell on her face as she whirled around to see Miki.

Miki rolled her eyes and walked over helping her up. “Thank you!” she smiled brightly.

“Why are we at this park?” Miki asked obviously agitated.

Koharu looked down at the ground sheepishly, “because I thought maybe he would be playing at the park…”

Miki attempted a smile and put a hand on Koharus shoulder, “Let’s think about this for a moment, okay?” She steered the younger over to the tree by her shoulder and they sat down. “How old is the man?”

Koharu glanced down at her watch and clicked a couple of buttons, “Thirty-two.”

“Good,” Miki sighed and leaned back against the tree trunk. “Now what is his occupation?”

Koharu looked over at Miki with a puzzled expression, “His what?”

“His job.”

“Oh right!” She began to play with her watch again. “He’s a stock broker, whatever that is…”

“So why would be spend his Friday evening at a park?”

The younger girl looked around a little before hesitantly replying, “To relax?” Miki paused and breathed in deeply, frustrated at how difficult this was going to be. Soon she shook her head and looked at Koharu expectantly. “He…” Koharu puffed out her cheeks a little beginning to also become frustrated. “He…wouldn’t?”

“Correct!” Miki was actually surprised that she had even got the right answer. She pat the smaller girl on the head, “Good. Now where should we look for him? Perhaps at his work?”

Koharu looked longingly at the park, “Ok I guess…”

Miki noted the disappointment in the childs voice and felt that even though the kid was aggravating, she had been through a lot and maybe she could try and be a little nicer to her. “Hey,” Miki put her hand on her shoulder once again as she stood up. “Once you learn how to do this it will be really easy to live your life and complete your assignment.” She smiled down at Koharu who didn’t seem to believe her. Sighing she crouched down in front of her, “I promise.”

“Really?”

Miki smirked, “Really.”

* * * * *

Ai woke up to a loud banging coming from the enterance to her house. She glanced over at the bed next to her to see Aika sleeping peaceful and then she looked over at the clock and it was about three in the morning.

She slowly got out of bed as to not wake up her sister and slipped on a robe over her pajamas before going out to the kitchen. From the kitchen she could see in the entry way her mother who was drunk and stumbling walking trying to get into the house. Soon Ai saw her dad come out from his room to greet her.

Ai didn’t mean to, but she ended up listening in on there conversation.

“Where have you been?” Ais dad tried to ask nicely.

Her mother just got angry at this question, “Like it honestly matters to you.”

“What are you talking about?” He attempted to grab his wife so that she wouldn’t fall down anymore but she yanked herself away from him.

“Don’t act like you don’t know,” she stumbled a little into a nearby wall. “Always taking care of her, no time for me.”

Suddenly her dad stood up very tall and looked quiet sternly at the intoxicated woman, “Don’t you drag her into this. It has been hard enough on her as it is. You know its my job to help kids like her. She just needed a little extra help-“

Ais mother cut him off firmly, “You didn’t have to bring your work home with you.”

“You don’t have to go out every night.”

“How else am I supposed to get any love?!” The two were now in a heated yelling match.

“Whats all the noise?” said a soft voice. Ai turned around to see a sleepy Aika entering the kitchen. Quickly Ai went over to her and put an arm around her shoulders.

“It’s nothing, just mother is home.”

Aika brightened up and tried to go around Ai to get to the woman. “Mamas home!”

“Uhmm, no Aika. She’s really tired and I think you should just go back to bed okay?”

The younger girl looked at Ai for a moment before smiling, “Okay. You’re always right.”

She gave Ai a quick hug before running back to there room. Ai looked over her shoulder and back out to the entrance way. Her dad and mom were no longer there arguing. She sighed and also went back to bed, although she didn’t get a lot of sleep. She had always known that she and Aika weren’t really sisters, but now she wanted to know about the girls past.

* * * * *

“I couldn’t do it!” The shorter hair girl cried into her mentors chest as she just repeated that sentence over and over.

“Shh…its okay. The first time is hard. I can go with you next time if you want?” She rubbed the crying girls back comforting.

“No,” she stopped crying for a moment and looked up. “I have to do it myself…otherwise I won’t ever be able to. But I-“ She began to cry again into the other girl.

Miki sat against the wall of an alley way with a crying Koharu in her arms. There was a long rope next to them that Koharu had dropped when she ran into Mikis arms sobbing uncontrollably.

“I couldn’t do it,” she mumbled into Mikis shirt as she clung onto her like the small child that she was.

Miki bit her bottom lip and tried to be as comforting as possible. But it was hard with all these memories coming back to her. She guessed that maybe this happened to everyone there first time out. It was to be expected…its not easy to kill someone even if you don’t know them.

“It’s okay Miki-tan,” Aya smiled down at the girl in her arms. “It’ll get easier.”

Miki smiled and clung to her Aya, “Really?”

“Promise.”

MIKI HAS TO MENTOR KOHARU!

/me makes note of Miki's "motherly" moments....

Awwwwwwwwwwww...

Hmmm...so it looks like Aika's adopted, or at the very least, some type of "foster child" for lack of a better definition.  It was Aichan's DAD who brought Aika home (which is a little strange, though when you take into account when he said he "helps kids like her"...it gives the impression that he works with kids quite a bit. It could be that maybe he's a teacher, counsellor, or social worker?  In any case, he's evidently been giving Aika quite a bit of attention (either out of genuine bonding/affection, or because he's trying to help with whatever her situation is (which, BTW, we readers are going to need to know about when you get a chance :yep: ), and it's making Aichan's mom jealous, which makes her go out and get hammered to get the attention she desires.

hey you, get well soon! Have lots of rest and drink lots of fluids. You need to keep your strength up so eat as much as you can.

Now about the story. Mwahahahahaha I was soooo totally right about a lot of theories just there.

Ok, I think we all guessed that Aika wasn't related to Ai as in blood relations. I'm guessing she had an abusive family that hurt her and she was being tossed around the foster homes or orphanages or something and Ai's dad who probably worked for the government in some sort of child welfare part of it like the dude in last friends (the one that beats his woman) met her, knew her circumstances and could not just leave her so he took her in and aparently the mother didn't know or aprove and she doesn't like that the kids' there so now she goes out, gets drunk and sleeps with other people because her husband is neglecting her due to his work.

Miki was Koharus' guide in becoming whatever she is to become. lol, the second I started reading this I thought omg poor Miki, I knew something like this would happen tsk tsk tsk poor Miki. Also I kinda have a feeling that Miki is a tortured soul so I soooo caught onto the backflash before even reading the names. I thought "hmm this has got to be a backflash" from about three words into the first sentence.

Miki comforting Koharu *vomit smiley* If they bond Ima be soooo angry esp if she gets attached to or accustomed to her.

Aww poor Miki. The De Ja Vou where we see an innocent side of Miki is just sooo sweet! I loved it. I loved how she came crying to "her Aya" (Yeah I noticed it) because she couldn't take a life and how she was reassured. It's very uncommon to see things from the perspective of a weak Miki. It's so rare and beautifull.. I love that...

Ganbare! Keep it up! I hope you post again soon, but get better first, I don't want you coughing a lung out on your PC screen lol.

Chapter four: Surprises

“Are you sure you got the right amount of drugs?” Miki leaned back against a bench in a park; Koharu always dragged them to a park whenever they were just waiting for something to happen even in the dead of night.

“Of course. I had seen it on television before,” Koharu was staring down at her watch, just waiting.

It had been about two weeks since Miki had been training her and hopefully this second death would be enough and Miki could go on her merry way with her own assignments. She was tired of this babysitting job.

“Hey Miki?”

Mikis thoughts were interrupted and she faced the younger girl. “Yes?”

Koharu began to fiddle with her watch as both her hands began to shake a little like she was scared. “They can’t catch us right? I mean…” she paused and Miki looked at her a little confused. “The police…if this guy suddenly dies…we won’t be caught? Plus he deserves it right?” The last question was added very quickly.

“Of course he deserves it, we wouldn’t get the assignment if he didn’t,” at least that is what I’m under the impression of. Miki tried to smile reassuringly at Koharu.

“But we can’t get caught right? They can’t like do some weird Forensic stuff and find me,” she was starting to shake a lot more now. “I don’t want to go to jail.”

Miki sighed, “It’s literally impossible for them to trace us. Besides we have no relation to this man. It’s an untraceable assignment, no paper trail.”

Koharu looked at Miki for a moment before the shaking began to subside a little and she stared back down at her watch. “What are we anyways?”

Miki was ready for that question because she thought she would ask it much sooner than now. “No one really has a name for us,” Miki said as she leaned her head back and stared up at the starry sky. “But…” she paused. “Yocchan did come up with something. She calls us: Interfectors.”

“Oh…who’s Yocchan?”

“You’ll meet her eventually. She usually likes to introduce herself to the new ones.” Although I wonder where she has been lately…Usually I see her about once a week because she just appears out of freaking no where.

Koharu suddenly jumped and then looked up at Miki with big eyes. She opened her mouth to speak, but no words came out.

“What’s up?” Miki asked calmly.

Koharu stretched out her wrist so that Miki could see her watch. It now flashed, “00:00.”

Miki pat Koharu on the head, “Good job. Now you remember where he lives right? You better go collect it before it disperses.”

“Right,” Koharu jumped down from the bench. But then stopped and turned around to face Miki. “You’re going to wait here right?”

“Uhmm…” Mikis watch then caught her eye and she saw a time displayed. Finally she got a new assignment which meant that she didn’t have to baby-sit anymore. “Actually, it seems I’m done training you. So I have to go to my assignment okay?”

The younger girl pouted a little, “But I’ll see you some other time?”

“Most likely,” it was weird how all the Interfectors had a knack for knowing where the others were if they really wanted to find each other…and no one didn’t want to be found. That always made it a little more difficult.

Besides a lot of the time Interfectors would hang out with each other instead of regular people because of them not aging it was hard to explain to people. So you could really only stay friends with them for a couple of years before they asked question. Eventually they just stopped making other friends all together.

* * * * *

“Ai…hello! Ai!” Risa waved her hand in from of her friends face as she stared out the window with a blank expression on her face. “Hey Ai!” she yelled and still got no response. Finally she grabbed her water bottle and dumped a little on Ais head.

“Cold!~” she yelled and jumped up from her seat.

Risa began to laugh, “Jeez. Eris the one whos supposed to be out of it. Not you.” She laughed as Ai shook out her head to try and get some of the water out.

“That wasn’t funny,” But she couldn’t help smile. She had been thinking about how to ask her dad about Aika. It had been over a week since her curiosity had peaked and she hadn’t got the guts up to really ask her dad anything. Ai had actually started to avoid her father at home because she wasn’t sure if she would just blurt out the question.

Risa handed Ai her bag, “You ready to go home?”

“Uhh yea but…” Ai paused as she took her bag and threw it over her shoulder. “Where is our third musketeer?”

“Who?”

“Eri duh. You know the other person you walk home with on a regular basis.”

Risa looked at Ai like she was crazy before laughing again. “Man you really must have been out of it all day.”

“Huh?”

Risa began to walk out of the classroom with Ai following her. “Don’t you remember than long conversation at lunch where Eri kept hitting me?”

“Well that’s normal so I didn’t think anything of  it. But what were you talking about then?”

“I was trying to convince Eri to offer to walk Michishige home today after school.” Risa looked at Ai as if telling her to piece it all together but she still looked puzzled. “And that’s when Eri left the table…” still nothing from Ai. “And walked over to where Michishige was sitting and didn’t come back…You really must have something on your mind to not notice that whole thing.”

Ai noted that Risa looked worried so she quickly came up with an excuse, “oh I’m just tired. Not enough sleep you know? I’ll catch it up because tomorrow is Saturday.” Ai smiled at Risa to reassure her.

They began there path down the sidewalk. “So speaking of the weekend…” Risa tone was slightly nervous. “Since we might be losing our favorite turtle to a quick bunny, do you want to go see a movie or something?” Risa was nervous because it would have been the first time they did something just the two of them. Before it had always been her, Ai and Eri all together.

Too bad Ai wasn’t listening as she had stopped and was watching a young girl playing with her father in the front yard. She was captivated at how happy they looked and the young girl reminded her of Aika because she was so carefree in her movements. But what struck her the most was that there was that there was no mother playing with them.

“Ai?” Risa asked walking over and placed a comforting hand on her shoulder.

* * * * *

Miki got out of a taxi and paid the driver for his service. She arrived at a small hotel right at the edge of Tokyo where her next assignment was. The thing that struck her oddly about the assignment was that the time span given to her was a little over a month. Never had she even heard of one lasting more than two weeks. Not like Miki really cared, this just meant she had more free time to do things before it came down to the wire and she had to kill her.

Soon she had paid for her room, with money that would disappear as soon as she was gone from the city, and was preparing for a nice long shower.

She was just about to start undressing when there was a very aggravating knock at her balcony door. One: who could have even got to the seventh floor balcony? and two: who would dare interrupt her relaxation time?

Miki marched over and flung the curtain open violently.

“Hey.”

Ooo...Interfectors sounds soo cool :cool1:

I'm thinkin the person on the balcony is Yossy, only because Miki seem to hint that Yossy might be coming soon and 'out of freakin nowhere'....and the 7th floor balcony of her hotel room is an unexpected place for someone to just drop by...

I wonder what Ai's connection to all of this is?....*gasp* :mon spit: don't tell me she's the next target that Miki mentioned!!!!  :mon scare:

...heh, probably not, :bigdeal: I'm terrible at trying to guess at things...anyways looking foward to see what happens next.

Nice chapter! I guess you'll connect the Interfectors to AixRisaXErixAika's life soon and I wonder who Miki would kill  It will be so sad when that happens... I have a nagging feeling it's Ai's dad or Aika...

I guess that person is Yossy too!  :)

Keep it up!

"She was just about to start undressing when there was a very aggravating knock at her balcony door. One: who could have even got to the seventh floor balcony? and two: who would dare interrupt her relaxation time?"

 Yoshi

As for the other things I was thinking of. I think maybe Aika was a bit superntural. And obviously its either Risa or Ai that is her new target.. At least that's what I think. But if it really is just bad people, then maybe it is supposed to be Ai's mum. She seems desperate and low enough to do something horrible. And I think something very very bad will happen when Ai asks her dad.

I think that Aya can't really see her Miki. At least not in the real world. Maybe in dreams hey?

OMG Aya better not be the next target! I know it is a girl (you mentioned that somewhere) and I'm pretty sure she is gonna bond with her or something and sympathise with her. I have a bad feeling it is Ai or someone close to her. I think it might even be Michishige though I doubt it.

The Eri and Sayu thing is sweet though. Can't wait for more updates. Waiting loyally, your sweeety

Ooh...this is getting better and better.

It has to be Yossi right??? We're all thinking the same thing here so I hope we're not all wrong

So I'm guessing Miki is the person in the prologue...but who was she with? I'm hoping that it's not Ai / Risa / Eri or Sayumi (because I don't like any of those pairings - sorry). Maybe an Interfector had to kill a fellow Interfector. It could then be Miki x Aya or Miki x Yossi...Oh but hang on...it tells them the name of the person right? Must be someone else.

Speculating again...I think I'll just wait and see as I'm crap with guessing stuff.

I'm back! And I'm happy to see updates from you, heyyouhiya!!

CH. 3:
hahahaha! Miki is training Koharu!!! That's awesomeness~ And she's at least trying to be nice to her! Poor Ai-chan and Aika. Mom seems to be jealous. So I'm thinking that Aika is some kind of foster child and Ai's dad is a social worker or something like that. Whoa, Miki's mentor was Aya. And Miki couldn't really kill someone. The ending was sad.

CH. 4:
So they are some kind of spirit/devils maybe.....they kill ppl? Awww, Kame and Shige! So cuteeee! Poor Risa, though, Ai-chan is too pre-occupied with her own family problems to be with her.  Yeah, I think the person on Miki's balcony is either Yossy or Aya. But I'm leaning towards Yossy.

so not only do the kill people but the drug them to!!!  :OMG:
what the hell is the deal with Interfectors does it mean something?? or did Yossie pick it because it sounds cool and important :smoke:(which it does :P)??
Poor Ai because of all the issues regarding her family... what's the deal of Aika at first i thought she was a foster child but Ai's hesitation to ask her dad about her is kind of peculiar and could kinda (but not really excuse) explain Ai's mom's behavior
Oh and poor Risa because... well that sucks
and I think it Yossie just because of (what i think to be) foreshadowing of her popping up everywhere and because she said "hey" which i don't picture ayaya doing... i picture her more as a HI TAN  :gmon bye: no matter what the situation is... if that makes sense

i can't wait to see how they all relate to each other.... oh and i voted all the unanswered questions :D

Blegh so I really don't like how the first part of this is written
But yea...a lot of this chapter is very filler
I promise the Ai/aika/Risa/Eri part of the story will intertwine with the Miki/Koha/Yossui/Aya part next chapter

Chapter five: Family Matters

After Ai woke back up from her trance they both began to walk home together again. But now it seemed a little awkward. Well not for Ai, she began to talk and talk and talk about just random things. To Risa though, she felt that Ai had deliberately ignored her question about this weekend and was now trying to cover up her strange behavior by talking a lot.

As they approached the Takahashi residence Ai suddenly changed the subject from how much she wanted a new puppy to, “So what are you doing this weekend Gaki?” It was a very innocent question that confirmed Ai just hadn’t heard Gakis earlier question.

Gaki brightened up, “Nothing yet. Why?”

“Just curious,” and they kept walking. Ai said nothing more about the subject. Like she was truly just curious and nothing more.

Gaki paused and said hesitantly, “What about you?”

“Oh I don’t know. I have nothing really planned yet besides choir on Sunday.” She smiled and they turned the final corner and now were only two houses away from Ais.

Last chance Gaki, “Want to hang out tomorrow?”

“Sure,” she answered like it was just another weekend with all three of them. “Why don’t you invite Eri to?”

“No,” Gaki answered a little too quickly making Ai look at her curiously. “I mean…she probably is going out with Michishige tomorrow. I think she mentioned something about that,” Gaki lied.

“Oh ok, then just the two of us.” Ai paused in front of her house and winked playfully. “Then it’s a date,” she said jokingly.

Gaki nervously laughed trying to pretend like the joke was funny, when in reality she wished it had been said much more seriously. “I’ll see you tomorrow then,” and she turned to walk away.

“Bye Gaki!” Ai yelled.

As she entered her house her mood suddenly changed. She had been acting all cheerful just to try and not arouse anymore suspicion from Gaki. She didn’t need to know about her family life…

Ai was surprised that when she looked around he wasn’t home. Actually, neither was Aika. Soon she did find her mother sitting in the living room watching television.

“Uhmm where’s Dad and Aika?”

“I don’t know.”

“Do you know when they’ll be home?”

“Nope.”

“Oh,” Ai sighed. She had great memories of how nice her mother used to be but that was from over ten years ago. “Why do you…” she trailed off.

“What?”

“Nothing,” I’ll just ask dad when he gets home. I have to…

* * * * *

Miki stared at the blond haired girl in front of her before sarcastically replying, “What are you doing here?”

“Aww come on, let me in.” she whined leaning against the door like a child. Miki rolled her eyes and unlocked the balcony door before sliding it open. She swiftly turned around and headed back to the bathroom for her shower. “What I don’t even get a hello?” Yoshizawa Hitomi asked as she closed the door and curtains behind her.

Miki stopped walking and turned around, “Hello Yossui.”

“Aww that’s better. I knew you missed me,” she smirked walking over to the slightly shorter girl.

Miki couldn’t help but smile. As much as she was sour to the whole world, Yossui was probably one of the only people she didn’t hate. “So to what do I owe this pleasure to this time?”

“I kind of miss working with you, you know?” Yossui said with a slightly sad tone.

Miki sighed; mentioning them working together always brought back memories of Aya. “Yea, I know what you mean.”

Yossui leaned in very close to Mikis ear and whispered very slowly, “Besides, I just missed you.” Miki shivered with every word.

“Is that supposed to be suggestive?” Miki asked pulling back from Yossui a little bit.

Yossui smirked and cocked her head to the side, “A little.”

Miki smirked back and began to walk to the bathroom once again, where her relaxing shower awaited her. On the way she pulled off her shirt and looked back at Yossui winking. Right at the door she pulled off her pants so she was left in a just her undergarments, Yossui couldn’t tear her eyes away.

“I’m going to take my shower now. You can wait here if you’d like." She paused, "or not.” She raised an eyebrow at Yossui suggestively before walking into the bathroom and closing the door behind her.

Yossui stood there with her mouth slightly open before regaining her senses and walking over to the bathroom door. She knocked three times. “May I come in?” she asked as she turned the handle.

But was then surprised to find the door locked and heard maniacal laughing from the inside of the room. “I want to relax tonight Yocchan,” she said still laughing.

Yossui growled and banged her head against the door. “You suck.”

* * * * *

“So zoo tomorrow?” Gaki asked over the phone to Ai.

“Yea, I’ll meet you there at eleven.”

“Ok cool,” Ai noted that her friend seemed a little more excited than usual about just going to the zoo. “Is the zoo really that exciting?”

“Uh…well…” she stuttered. “There’s a new tiger exhibit I want to see..yea.”

“Ok whatever,” Ai laughed but then suddenly stopped as she heard the door open and two familiar voices came from the entry way. They were laughing and talking about something Ai couldn’t make out. “Hey Gaki, hold on really quick.”

“Ok-“ Ai set down the phone and walked through the kitchen to the entry way where she was just able to see her mother leaving through the front door and her father and Aika standing there. Her dad didn’t look very surprised, but Aika looked very disappointed.

“Mama?” she asked staring at the door.

Quickly Ai walked up to Aika, “Hey kiddo!” She said ruffling her hair a little to try and distract her from her disappointment.

“Ai!” she yelled embracing the taller girl.

“Hey Ai.”

“Welcome home Dad.” She smiled and led Aika into the living room where they sat down and Ai changed the channel to some kid show for Aika.

After a little while she heard the sink running in the kitchen, dad was making dinner. “I’ll be right back, k?” she said to Aika, who nodded mesmerized by the television.

Quietly she walked into the kitchen trying to think of how she was going to ask about Aikas past. She knew it had to be something he didn’t want to talk about since he never seemed to bring it up, yet it was destroying his marriage.

Her dad was standing at the counter cutting some vegetables when he turned around and noticed her. “So how was school?” he asked like he normally would.

“Fine,” she replied like a typical teenager. But usually Ai wasn’t a typical teenager and would tell her dad all about her day, they had a good relationship.

He paused his cutting and looked at her. “Is everything alright?”

“Dad can I talk to you about something?”
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh and yea Interfector does mean something
but that will come up later in the story...much later

Comment please so I feel better about this chapter...

I hope Ai will soon know how Gaki feels towards her. Unrequited love is quite sad. Plus I hope that Gaki will overhear the conversation at Ai's house.  :P

Yossui leaned in very close to Mikis ear and whispered very slowly, “Besides, I just missed you.” Miki shivered with every word.

AI-CHAN!!! HELLOOOZ! Risa is totally in love with you!!! I know your family has a buncha secrets you want to find out but please don't make her sad!!!!!  :mon geek:
Now that I got that off of my chest, I really wonder what the secret is. Why Ai's mom seems to hate Aika so much. I hope it's something interesting. And Gaki's still on the line!  :mon scare: She's gonna find out why Ai's been acting so weird!
I knew it was Yossy! She and Miki seem to have something more than friendship but where does that leave Ayaya?  :dunno: Was she just Miki's senpai or did they have something more and then something happened to her? So many questions! But even though some get answered as you update, I come up with more!!! But I wouldn't have it any other way!

So the stories are gonna overlap? I think someone's gonna die.... :pleeease:

Strange that everyone thinks that Miki and Koharu are grim reapers, and yet Koharu is worried about getting caught via forensic evidence.  Take into account what has been said in the two most recent chapters about what they do, and this could possibly mean that they're not reapers, but instead members of some sort of secret society of assassins...or they really are reapers and Koharu is just a real noob at it. :P

uhh oh! forget someone Ai? Poor Risa! She's probably still waiting on the phone like the lil lovesick puppy she is. And now Ai will find out the truth..or her father will dodge the subject. Either way Risa will know a whole lot more about why she is acting this way and maybe now she wont be so confused or annooyed at her for constantly spacing on her because she will know she is thinking about her little sister and the rest of her family. Ohh but I really hope they get together, it would be sooo sweet. Especially how Risa will probably try to be Ai's rock through this, and help her get through it.

I just hope that Ai realises how precious Risa really is.

were you someone who voted you liked it because of the unanswered questions?
man...I hope I remember to answer them all sometime in the story...or I could always leave some parts to your imaginations =]

Death seems to be a pretty big part of this story, no?

Strange that everyone thinks that Miki and Koharu are grim reapers, and yet Koharu is worried about getting caught via forensic evidence.  Take into account what has been said in the two most recent chapters about what they do, and this could possibly mean that they're not reapers, but instead members of some sort of secret society of assassins...or they really are reapers and Koharu is just a real noob at it. :P

I'm really rooting for there relationship too (and its my story XD)
but thats actually one of the very few little things I'm having a hard time debate on whether it should happen or not...cuz the story could work either way
hmmm...we shall see

Okay...hopefully I can write now XD maybe seeing my topic at the top of the board but without a new chapter will make me feel bad and write faster
I am now banning myself from reading anyone else's fics or going on Hello-online until I finish a new chapter!!!
Hopefully I won't fall to far behind in reading and will get this chapter cranked out soon...

BTW: I added chapter titles (which I normally don't do...)
I did it yesterday because I was also trying to motivate myself to write
as you can see that didn't work either
I PROMISE though that I will NEVER completely abandon this fic
It will get done...I'm just having some trouble =[

I found motivation! Avoiding parents XD

Chapter six: Father

Mr. Takahashi looked at his daughter with concern in his eyes, “Of course. You can always talk to me about anything.” He smiled and set down what he was doing and walked over putting an arm around her. “Now, what’s the matter?”

“It’s about Aika.” Mr. Takahashi was silent as he stared down at the floor. He knew Ai would start asking questions at some point. “I know she isn’t my sister…but what…I mean…why does mom seem to hate her so much? It’s like she’s jealous or something…”

Mr. Takahashi went over to the door to the living room and looked in on Aika. She was pleasantly watching Television. He smiled softly as he walked back over to Ai, “let’s go talk about this in your room. Aika doesn’t need to know right now.”

Ai nodded and followed her dad to her room where he shut the door and they both set down on her bed.

* * * * *

“But, that’s not really a reason to hate Aika is it? Just because of your family?” Ai asked, appalled at the reason behind her mother’s hatred.

Her father shrugged a little, “I know it seems silly. But to her what they did before hand is unforgivable. She doesn’t see why we should help them even though it’s my family.” He looked down at the floor his eyes welling up a little. Ai had never seen her father in an emotional state, he had even staid just fine through their entire conversation but now… “It’s ironic by the fact that what she is doing now is…exactly what they said she would be like.”

Ai looked down at the floor. As much as she didn’t want this to become a reality, she felt too bad for Aika…it was wrong. “So, why don’t you divorce her?”

Mr. Takahashi sighed and looked over at Ais dresser where a family portrait of all four of them was. “Because as bad as she is currently acting…I still love her…I can’t explain it.”

Ai nodded and leaned her head on her father’s shoulder. “I’m sorry.” They didn’t speak for a moment and then she heard her father sigh heavily.

“It’s alright,” he gently stroked Ai’s hair before suddenly jumping up. “Dinner!”

“Huh?” but he had already run out of her room and into the kitchen. With the door open even Ai could smell the burning food. She got up and began to go help when she noticed her phone was still on. “What?” She picked it up and held it to her ear. “Hello?” No one answered and so she hung up. “Strange.”

“We might be ordering in tonight girls!” She then heard her father yell. Ai smiled to herself before going out to meet the smoke that was now filling up the kitchen and her father standing there laughing at his own foolishness. Ai couldn’t help but think that he was a pleasant and fine guy. She was lucky to have him as a father. Ai glanced over at Aika who was now also laughing.

They were both lucky…

* * * * *

“Don’t sleep the whole day away.”

Miki stirred slightly and peeked her eyes open a little to see Yossui standing over her dressed only in jeans and a sports bra. Miki groaned and pulled the covers up and over her head. “The sun is too bright.”

Yossui laughed and yanked the covers down off of her and onto the floor revealing her naked body. “What did you use up too much of your energy last night?”

“That was not my fault,” Miki exclaimed pointed at the culprit named Yoshizawa Hitomi. She reached down next to the bed and grabbed her towel from last night off of the floor and wrapped it around herself as she stood up. “You’re the one who basically attacked me as soon as I stepped out of the bathroom.”

The taller girl laughed again and walked up behind Miki placing her arms around her waist. “Yea, but you enjoyed yourself,” she whispered into her ear.

Miki rolled her eyes and pulled away from Yossui and headed towards the bathroom. “We also didn’t get to sleep until about three in the morning thanks to you. What the hell time is it anyways?”

“It’s just about ten.”

“See! Only seven hours of sleep.” Miki complained leaning against the door frame to the bathroom.

Yossui shrugged, “You have to look for your assignment.”

“I have two whole months.”

“So, that could mean it’s a hard person to find.”

Miki laughed, “You know perfectly well the time frame given to us never is based upon how easy or hard they are to find. I swear it’s all just very random.”

“True,” Yossui smirked as she looked Miki up and down.

Miki eyed Yossui suspiciously, “What?”

“I was just thinking…” she paused and walked up to Miki and gently caressed her cheek. “You look so much better without that towel.”

* * * * *

A good hour and fifteen minutes later Miki was finally all dressed and able to get away from Yossui to look for this Takahashi Ai girl. “It’s a wonder how that girl with all her own assignments still finds the time to come pester me.” She smiled to herself none the less…she really liked Yossui. They had a good relationship together…that was mainly just sleeping together. Though on a rare occasion Yossui could be quiet the romantic.

Miki shook her head to clear her thoughts, she needed to focus. Glancing down at her watch she flipped through the information on the girl one more time. It just had name and age and a description of her appearance. “This is no help,” on the last page though it had the route she took home from school. “Well, at least I have her address.”

She began to walk along the streets until she was about a block away when a girl ran past her, almost knocking her down in the process, mumbling something about being really late. Miki watched the girl run away, “she looks an awful lot like…”

She shrugged, she had two months. It was possible that was her so why not check it out. Miki broke into a run and chased after the girl being careful to not be noticed and thought of as stalking the poor girl, which was technically what she was doing.

A couple blocks later the girl finally slowed down and Miki noticed they were now in front of a Zoo.

“AI!” Miki whirled around looking for who had said that and saw another girl of waving to the persons she had been stalking for the past five blocks. She ran up to said girl, “You’re late like always.”

“I’m so sorry,” she bowed.

“Ai you’re going to be late to your own funeral.”

Had it really been that simple to find her new assignment?

okay...so we still don't get to know what's up with her mom!...darn  :smoke:

as for Ai chan...wow I'm surprised she could mention divorce so easily....I forgot but I always assumed that Ai chan's mom was her real mom right?  poor girls... so I guess Aika comes from a relative from her dad's side of the family?  I'm still very curious about the whole situation...hopefully niigaki can get the answers from ai XD

I was really hoping you would reveal the assignment in this chapter instead of leaving it as a cliffhanger and I'm so glad you did!  (even though I expected it to be Ai chan it was still exciting to find out!)  now that I know it's really Ai chan....I can't help but feel sad that Miki is so going to destroy their family in 2 months by killing ai off and leaving only her parents and aika...actually I'm sure that's not how the story ends but still!  I like how you make Miki pretty likable so that you can't hate her for what she does...

anyways you're amazing and every chapter gets more and more interesting!  So keep up the good work  :k-wink:

You tease.

So basically someone in Aichan's father's side of the family (perhaps even Aika's own birth parents) did something that Aichan's mom can't forgive?  That's still not a good enough reason to treat Aika so badly. It's not like Aika had anything to do with whatever happened, after all.  If she wants to bear a grudge against those that were directly involved, then so be it, and unless Aika's one of those directly involved, Aichan's mom is unfairly using her as a scapegoat.

Chapter Seven: Choices

“I’m so sorry,” Ai bowed again and then began to try and explain that she was late because her dog had hidden her other shoe.

Gaki just laughed and pat her friend on the back, “Chill. I’m only giving you grief about it. I really don’t mind.” She paused and looked down at the floor with a mildly sad look on her face.

“Gaki?” Ai questioned leaning down to meet her friend face.

She immediately woke up and shouted surprised, “what!?”

Ai began to laugh, “You react way too strongly to everything.” She continued laughing and Gaki pouted a little.

“Don’t be mean Ai.”

“I’m sorry,” she laughed again. “Come on lets go.” Gaki smiled brightly when Ai linked her arm with her own and began to lead them over to the zoo gates.

Miki watched the two girls for a while as they talked, laughed and went into the zoo together arm in arm. She felt a ting of longing to be so carefree before her emotions were interrupted by her thoughts. She needed to focus and watch her prey to figure out when was going to be the best time for her to carry out her mission without raising too many eyebrows at her.

“I guess I’m going to spend the day at the zoo,” she sighed and followed the two inside. Miki highly doubted that this stalking was necessary because it was unlikely this girl made frequent trips to the zoo. But it was a good opportunity to observe her behavior.

After paying for her ticket she discreetly followed the “couple” around to all the various exhibits and watched them laugh and enjoy themselves. But all the while Miki observed that Ai would space out a lot and basically ignore her friend.

“Maybe that’s why…” Miki mumbled to herself.

Soon they both stopped by a small ice cream stand and then went and sat down on a nearby wall next to the monkey exhibit. Miki sat down about two yards away on the same wall and watched them out of the corner of her eye. There was that Ai girl being all distant again. She was starring at the monkeys with a glazed look over her eyes while her friend just talked and talked.

Eventually Gaki slowly stopped talking and stared over at Ai. She had completely eaten all of her ice cream but Ai hadn’t taken more than one or two bits and it was now slowly dripping down her hand. She hadn’t even said more than a mumble since they sat down.

“Ai…” Gaki softly said and put her hand hesitantly on the older girls shoulder. She didn’t break her gaze from the exhibit; she just nodded her head to show she at least heard that.  “Ai I…” Gaki wasn’t even sure what she was about to say. Part of her wanted to tell Ai exactly how she felt towards her. Another part wanted to ask her about the conversation she had last night with her dad. Of course, Gaki had heard a very little part of it before feeling awkward about inadvertently eavesdropping and she hung up the phone. Then the last part of her was telling her to just not mention either of them because both could hurt their friendship.

At that moment Ai accidentally dropped her ice cream onto the floor and she finally woke up a little from her trance. She laughed, “I can be so spacey.”

Gaki just sheepishly smiled, that wasn’t true. Ai had never been this spacey and distant, especially towards Gaki who she told everything to, before these last two weeks. “Do you want me to buy you another one?” Gaki asked politely.

Ai shook her head, “Nah I wasn’t that hungry anyways. Thanks for buying them in the first place. I can pay you back-“

“No no, its fine really,” Gaki cut her off and smiled.

“What we’re saying before I dropped that?” Ai asked innocently.

Gaki shook her head, “It’s nothing.” She had made up her mind to just, for now, not saying anything about either subject.

“Look who else is here,” Ai suddenly said as she pointed over and across the zoo.

Gaki looked over and was surprised to see none other than there Kamei Eri holding one Michishige Sayumi from behind and playfully whispering something into her ear. They laughed and Eri kissed Sayumi lightly on the cheek. They were so carefree and happy as they linked their fingers together and walked away.

Ai smiled, “So cute. It makes you wish that you were also in a loved like that, doesn’t it?”

“Yea,” Gaki sighed and got up from the wall. “Shall we finish looking at the rest of the animals?”

“Of course,” Ai jumped down from the wall and held out her hand for Gaki who sighed a little. Ai had no idea how much the simple action of holding hands made her heart swell up and burn at the same time.

They began to walk away from the monkey exhibit when Gaki suddenly commented, “You know, you look a lot like those monkeys.”

Ai laughed, “I guess so.” As they continued to walk to the next animal Gaki again noticed the glaze look beginning to form on Ais face. She was trying to run on autopilot, which Ai was no good at.

Miki got up from the wall and instead of following the two she headed off to the exit. Obviously she wasn’t going to learn much else about Takahashi Ai today besides that she was extraordinarily distant from people. So far, it still didn’t add up…but these things usually didn’t until you watched them more. Miki sighed, she was probably the only one concerned with their actions anyways. Most of the other Interfectors she knew just did their job without questioning it at all.

It was kind of surprising that Yossui didn’t question it anymore. It was something Aya had tried to teach them to do… Miki never quiet understood how Aya had ended up as one of them in the first place. She shouldn’t have even been presented with the choice.

So Aya was Miki's 'tutor' after all? I like the way you write about TakaGaki..very soothing..Poor Risa, she must be having a hard time trying to understand what happened to Ai at home.. It wasn't wrong of Ai not to tell Risa about it, I mean, it is quite personal. Maybe the confession should come before understanding and all.. *stands up and cheers, "CONFESS RISA!" wait what? :mon huh2: huh?!?!? :mon wtf: WHHAATTTT!!!! :mon scare: they choose to be interfectors what the H man!!

first I was all sad because of Ai being so clueless to Gaki's feelings and withdrawing so much away from her... I mean given the situation I guess I kinda understand Ai but sometimes you need to rely on someone to support you, be strong for you and if she would OPEN HER EYES she would SEE Risa would be the perfect person to do that *sighs*
but then I read the last part.... and I start having more questions.... and I'm going crazy..... dude! what's going on just when i thought i had it somewhat figured out PLOP! there goes a wrench

guess i kinda patient eventually everything will be worked out and figured out...  I hope

I really like this story... it gives that consistent want of knowing what is going to happen. Gotta say my favourite character is Aya so  far... and she hasn't even really made an appearance.

The biggest question right now though is.... why Ai?

I have this huge theory on the story though.... the two people at the beginning... one of them is Fujimoto. That's my current bet.

Another big question I also got flying around is.. what happends if you don't do your job?

BTW, am i the only who gets a "death note" / "Dead like me" feeling when I read this story? ^^;

“What we’re saying before I dropped that?” Ai asked innocently.

Gaki shook her head, “It’s nothing.” She had made up her mind to just, for now, not saying anything about either subject.

poor gaki-san  :mon cry:

“Look who else is here,” Ai suddenly said as she pointed over and across the zoo.

Gaki looked over and was surprised to see none other than there Kamei Eri holding one Michishige Sayumi from behind and playfully whispering something into her ear. They laughed and Eri kissed Sayumi lightly on the cheek. They were so carefree and happy as they linked their fingers together and walked away.

Ai smiled, “So cute. It makes you wish that you were also in a loved like that, doesn’t it?”

“Yea,” Gaki sighed and got up from the wall.

yay sayu and eri rabu rabu  :mon misch:, but gaki isn't in the mood anymore  :mon POd:

They began to walk away from the monkey exhibit when Gaki suddenly commented, “You know, you look a lot like those monkeys.”

Ai laughed, “I guess so.”
mauajajajajajajjajajaaj omg

It was kind of surprising that Yossui didn’t question it anymore. It was something Aya had tried to teach them to do… Miki never quiet understood how Aya had ended up as one of them in the first place. She shouldn’t have even been presented with the choice.

wow good to know  :mon scare:

waiting next chapter!!

Ok so now I'm curious XD because I know what Death Note is...and I don't think its going to be like that at all. But then again I've only seen the first like 10 episodes

But what is "dead like me"? *goes to google*

EDIT: Ahhh okay
I can see why you two would be getting that vibe
Phew...I'm glad my story is going to be much different =]
(I think...)

“I’m so sorry,” Ai bowed again and then began to try and explain that she was late because her dog had hidden her other shoe.
Bad doggie!

Quote
Miki watched the two girls for a while as they talked, laughed and went into the zoo together arm in arm. She felt a ting of longing to be so carefree before her emotions were interrupted by her thoughts. She needed to focus and watch her prey to figure out when was going to be the best time for her to carry out her mission without raising too many eyebrows at her.
Something that many people probably don't realize is just how emotionally difficult it is to do Miki's job, especially when she has to watch her target for an extended period of time to keep the eventual event from arousing too many suspicions.  It would be much, much easier if she could just go ahead and take care of business the first time she sees the target/the first chance she gets. However, by having to observe the target, one gets to know them, and as such, one runs the risk of possibly feeling a connection/actually getting to know the person.

Quote
But all the while Miki observed that Ai would space out a lot and basically ignore her friend.

“Maybe that’s why…” Miki mumbled to herself.
Huh? "Maybe that's why"...what? It almost sounds like there's a specific reason why Aichan has to be the next one.

...

Is there?  :?

Quote
Gaki wasn’t even sure what she was about to say. Part of her wanted to tell Ai exactly how she felt towards her.
Oh crud. Of course this would have to happen now.  :bleed eyes:

“Yea,” Gaki sighed and got up from the wall. “Shall we finish looking at the rest of the animals?”
Poor Aichan...as usual not only is she spacing out, but she's also completely clueless.  :P

Quote
They began to walk away from the monkey exhibit when Gaki suddenly commented, “You know, you look a lot like those monkeys.”

Ai laughed, “I guess so.”
UKIIIIIIIII~!!!
XD

Quote
Miki sighed, she was probably the only one concerned with their actions anyways. Most of the other Interfectors she knew just did their job without questioning it at all.
So Miki's the only free-thinker amongst the Interfectors?

lol, I was the first to mention the dead like me vibe so you're not the only two! I think I said it on the first page..unless I said it in a PM.. either way, the answer then was "no" ... actually it was "What the hell is thatt? dead like me" What are you talking about? Are you saying you're .....d-d-d-d-dead!!! Aaah a ghost!!!!!!!! *smacks with fly swatter*"
"Hey that really hurt! Ima put the sheeny curse on you fool!"
"NOOO NOT THE SHEENY CRSE!!"

Woah.. Ai's pretty distant huh.. I would've panicked if my ice cream even dripped.. Risa was about to confess too and Ai had no idea..  :-\
So Miki's watching Ai... what did i miss?? Why is she doing this again..? And im really curious about Aya's story.. very curious..

The reason why she is doing this is to figure out when to kill her...but Miki has a different agenda then most Interfectors when she watches someone (which has yet to be really reviled. I hinted at it a little.)

Poor Ai chan...Miki so has the wrong impression of Ai chan...even if she is always spacey..

Misunderstandings play important parts in most plots =]

So Aya was Miki's 'tutor' after all? I like the way you write about TakaGaki..very soothing..

Thank you =] I actually had a lot of fun writing this chapter

Argh! Somehow Ai-chan blindness is pissing me off :banghead: Wake up! or at least tell us what's up with Aika and your mom  :P

Good, it did its job.

Aww, poor Gaki-san. I think she's in love with Ai-chan! (DUH!) But she's scared to tell her because Ai-chan is, well, Ai-chan. Oh man, and Miki's watching them! NOOOOO! There has to be another way! Hmmm, and when Aya was Miki and Yossy's senpai, she tried to teach them to be kind and sensitive. But why would Miki say she shouldn't have had the option? :?

Ahhh the questions yet to be answered
Hmm another way? *ponders* maybe *reviews notes*

wait what? :mon huh2: huh?!?!? :mon wtf: WHHAATTTT!!!! :mon scare: they choose to be interfectors what the H man!!

I love endings to chapters that leave people going "WHHAATTTT!!!!"

Sometimes people want to try and deal with things themselves though...but its not a good thing to keep your thoughts and feelings inside AI (lol I love commenting like I have no idea what is going to happen either hehehe...)

Yea Ayas pretty cool...even though we have no real knowledge about her so far

Hmm yes why Ai? Thats revealed MUCH later on

I would be interested in hearing your theory! ^^

poor gaki-san  :mon cry:

yay sayu and eri rabu rabu  :mon misch:, but gaki isn't in the mood anymore  :mon POd:

Gaki =[

I love putting random lovey things in my storys! Yay ErixSayu!

So Miki's the only free-thinker amongst the Interfectors?

So Aya mentored Yossi as well? :O

Yea it would be easier
but in my next chapter I'm clarifying some things about how other Interfectors "watch there prey"

on the "maybe thats why" thing. I actually hinted a lot to this in a previous chapter (I think enough that you can figure out what Miki is talking about)

Free thinker...ish

Yes Aya did. They were a Menage a Trois *but not really<--- French fraise I learned today
Means: threesome XD

lol, I was the first to mention the dead like me vibe so you're not the only two! I think I said it on the first page..unless I said it in a PM.. either way, the answer then was "no" ... actually it was "What the hell is thatt? dead like me" What are you talking about? and so on.

XD I love your comments sweety
so hilarious
but yea I had like no freaking idea what Dead Like Me was...

Soo instead of updating (and I've barley been commenting on  other stories)
I've either been sitting on my ass or well cleaning out my room because its ridiculous...
and when I clean out stuff...that means you take everything out and sort them in piles so my room is currently:

(see that notepad and all the papers on the desk? all of those are like notes about this fic XD and yes that is H!O on my screen in that shot...)

Anyways, I am also trying to put this story into an immensely detailed outline just so I don't mess anything up
Cuz that would be hard to explain later
I can just seem myself: "oh and you might want to reread chapter 15 because I changed it because it got messed up."
As you can see I'm working hard *points to papers on desk* literally all notes and such for this fic XD
(because I'm dreaming big and want to edit it sooo much (and obviously change names and genders) and get it actually published. But that will probably never happen XD I can dream right?)

My room was a success and is now clean...but it probably won't stay that way
Anyway, I didn't get around to writing an actual "chapter"
But I did say I would update by now...so its like a side story
that I wrote literally right now...haven't even edited or went over it and probably never will because its completely unessential to the plot.
oh and yea I'm going out of town on thursday and so idk when I will update next ^^;

Chapter 7.5 (side story): The turtle and the bunny

Kamei Eri paced around her room in utter disbelief that she had actually said yes. She shook her head, “I must be dreaming.” Eri had been so wrapped up in her thoughts that she forgot to turn back around to continue her pacing and ended up running smack into her wall. She stumbled back a little and tripped over a pile of books she had in the middle of her messy floor making her land back on her butt. “Ow, okay so it’s not a dream.” She glanced around her messy room before immediately springing up from the floor and shouting, “It’s not a dream!” and pointed her finger up into the air in triumph.

“What’s that Eri dear?” She heard her mother call from the other room.

Eri looked around panicking as to how she was going to explain this. “It’s not a…what’s for dinner mom?” she yelled trying to change the subject.

* * * * *

At nine o’ clock sharp Eri arrived at the entrance to the Zoo. It had only opened just then so there weren’t many people around yet. And okay, she was supposed to meet Michishige at nine thirty, but she wanted to be early for…who knows what reason. Eri had a seat on a nearby bench and looked up the sky and started to drift off into alien world.

She jumped when someone tapped on her shoulder. Looking over she was Michishige smiling with a confused look on her face. “What are you doing here so early?”

Eri immediately stood up and bowed deeply, “I’m sorry Michishige-san. I-“

“Just call me Sayu. No need for formalities.” She smiled.

Eri blushed, “Okay…Sayu. I just wanted to be early.”

“You can be so strange.”

Eri then looked up at the clock on top of the zoo. “Hey, but you’re twenty minutes early!”

It was now Sayus turn to blush as she tapped her fingers together while she tried to think of a good excuse. But there were none, “I just wanted to be early too I guess,” she said almost inaudibly.

They both stood there at the entrance to the zoo looking down at the floor blushing for a couple of minutes before Eri finally got the courage to speak again. “So shall we go in?” Hesitantly, she held out her hand for the other girl. She wasn’t sure if it was too early to hold hands.

Luckily Sayu smiled widely and took Eris hand in her own, “Okay.”

As they walked up to the counter and were about to pay they both pulled out their wallets but Eri quickly grabbed Sayus away from her. “My treat.” The other girl was about to protest when it was too late. Sayu puffed out her cheeks in annoyance and glared at Eri, to which she just laughed.

* * * * *

There day at the zoo was going well as they walked hand in hand around the park admiring all the animals. Three or four hours had passed, but neither one took note as they were having too much fun. Eri had even pushed aside her shy side because she just felt too comfortable and natural around the other girl.

Then they stood in front of the tiger exibit and Eri noted that Sayu was clinging to her arm, even though it was just sleeping behind the steel bars of the cage. “Are you scared?” she asked giggling a little.

“N-no,” Sayu stuttered just making Eri giggle more.

“You are scared.”

“No I’m not…”

“It’s not going to hurt you.” Eri laughed smiling at the obviously scared girl.

“I told you I’m not scared.”

Then the tiger let out a yawn and Sayu immediately jumped back from the cage releasing Eris arm. As she stepped back she slipped slightly and was about to fall backwards when Eri stepped behind her and grabbed her around the waist so she wouldn’t hit the pavement below.

They both blushed slightly at the intimate position they were now in. Eri leaned close to Sayus ear and with all the courage she had whispered, “I’ll protect you.”

Sayu blushed and then was surprised when she felt Eris lips against her cheek. She turned her head to the side a little so she could look into Eris eyes before grabbing her hand again and pulling her along to the next exhibit. Which to Eris delight happened to be Lions.

* * * * *

The couple had managed to spend a total of nine hours at the zoo without becoming bored. They had wandered around it twice even, but both didn’t want to leave. It was about to close so they headed into the gift shop where the exit was.

“Before we leave I need to use the restroom,” Sayu said to which Eri just nodded and then waited inside the shop for her return. Then something caught Eris eye as she remembered something Gaki had said to her a while ago. Smiling she used up the rest of the money she had left, which wasn’t much considering she hadn’t let Sayu pay for anything all day, on two stuffed animals.

Sayu came out of the bathroom a couple of minutes later and Eri did her best to keep the shopping bag out of Sayus view as they walked home.

* * * * *

The two stood awkwardly in front of Sayus door as the sun was beginning to set. Eri bit her lip trying to think of something to say. “I had fun today,” she kicked herself, how lame.

Sayu giggled and turned towards her door. “Call me later…” she whispered as she began to turn the handle.

“Wait!” Eri quickly brought the bag out from behind her and pulled out two very small stuffed animals. One was a pink bunny and the other a turtle. “I want you to have this turtle I bought you.”

“Huh?” Sayu looked puzzled as she was handed the small stuffed turtle.

Eri wasn’t sure how to exactly explain this, so she didn’t. “Just take it please? I want you to remember me when I’m not around.” Eri was very red by now, “and I want to keep this bunny so I can always feel like you’re with me.”

Sayu joined in the blushing fest as she hugged the turtle still not really sure what this was all about. “Okay.”

Eri smiled and then quickly leaned in planting a very light kiss on Sayus lips. The two looked at each other in awe for a moment about their first kiss before Eri turned around and practically sprinted away.

Sayu bit her lip and looked at the turtle in her hand, “Kamei…”

So I know I should have written a new chapter by now...but instead I made another trailer XD
Although it does give away a couple more things I guess...so its like (well yea a trailer) but it reveals a little bit...
Btw: if I don't have a new chapter by lets say...next thursday (so a week) you all have permission to hurt me =] and I promise to post more often because now I should have Some more free time

http://www.youtube.com/v/iJvg8wJo9pA&hl=en

and the description I put on youtube:
The second trailer I made
hmm doesn't give Thhhaaat much away
okay so it gives away a little about Aya that hasn't been revealed yet (I think?) and if you actually pay attention you see a new character that is to be added much later in the story...

BTW: The colors of the text indicate if they go together like "Feelingless...or not", "Promises, broken" etc

i'm really looking forward to see what happens!!

I like it! You're really good! I love the beginning where Miki is looking all tough and then the "or not" makes her look all vulnerable and sad. I like my Miki both ways. And all the little snippits make it seem like a real trailer in a movie.
And the new character is Reina, right? I saw the tiny flash of her.
Anyway, I'll be awaiting your chapter update. But hey, a trailer is better than nothing.

Hello!!!
It's been a long since my last post XD Sorry, It just that lazyness can be SO powerful you know? XD
Well, I have been reading your story and I like it a lot, supernatural things are MY thing.
Miki is a very interesting character in this story, Yossy always cool, Takahashi the melancholic one and Aya is full of mystery
This whole bond between Miki, Aya and Yossy is killing me :tantrum: I wanna know more

Oh... and about the trailer. First I love that song, although I don't know who sing it :dunno:
there was this part that call my atention, when Aya was laughing and then Yossy with the sword... mmm it give me a bad feeling and the part about loyalty doesn't help either... Yossy what are you on?  :err:
Mmm... Reinana will take part in this story? Cool. I wonder is she will be an Interfector or maybe just a human or maybe something else :glasses:
My mind is beginning to create theories but I need more info so the best to do is wait for more chapters :hee:

btw...  hahaha I thought my room was a big mess but after see yours
Waiting for the next chapter :hee:

After watching the trailer, I have quite a bit of theories about where the story is going to. I hope it's not what i think it is. :(

Damn, I got to watch it a few times before I started deciphering it because Miki is too hot in there!

EDIT: Oh crap, you have it in your hands to break my heart...I'm certain of it...

So it's not a very good chapter
and I think it just makes more questions rather than asking them
But yea...

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chapter 8: Strangers

“Hey you dropped this!” Miki yelled as she leaned down to pick up a little green wallet that one of the three girls, who were now walking away, had dropped. None of them seemed to hear her as she stood there with it in her hand. “HEY!” she yelled again finally causing one of them to glance around behind her to see Miki standing there waving the wallet in her right hand. The one who had finally noticed Miki poked the one who had dropped it in the shoulder so she turned around as well.

“Oh thanks!” she yelled as Miki walked over and handed it to her. “I can be so spacey.” The girl laughed a little before shoving it back into her pocket and patting it.

Miki shrugged, “it’s alright. Just be careful.”

“Yea be careful Kamei,” The one who had noticed Miki first scolded; before laughing a little and punching Kamei in the shoulder. “Oh well that will never happen.” Miki then recognized her as the one both this Kamei Eri and Takahashi Ai called Gaki. I think her name is really Niigaki Risa…

Kamei puffed out her cheeks, “I am careful.”

Gaki rolled her eyes, “sure you are.”

Finally Ai cut in, “You two always argue.” She pretended to grab at both of there ears. “Do I have to be a babysitter?” The three laughed and then Gaki suddenly stopped, noticing that Miki was still standing there.

She bowed a little, “thank you again for returning Kamei-sans wallet.”

“Uhh, yea no problem,” Miki bowed as well but kept one eye on Ai who was now looking at her strangely…like she recognized her. That can’t be good. “Just try not to lose it again,” and before any of them could say anything further Miki turned and walked away back to the bench she had been sitting on.

She sat down and looked over at the three girls who had now resumed walking home. It wouldn’t surprise Miki that Ai had recognized her. She had sat at this bench every day for the past four days just waiting for them to walk by so she could continue watching Ai. Miki hadn’t been as careful as she normally would have been when stalking her next target, but Ai had seemed so distant she hadn’t though she would be recognized. Sighing slightly Miki leaned back, “I’m going to have to switch up where I watch her from. Jeez, what a pain.”

“What’s a pain?”

Now a normal person would have jumped at this sudden intrusion from above. However, Miki had been aware for the past hour that someone had been sitting in the tree above her staring down; watching her.

“Nothing Yossui,” Miki replied to the blonde who was now sitting next to her with a couple of leafs hanging out of her hair from the tree above.

Yossui put her hands behind her head and leaned back. Miki looked over at her, but then glanced past as she saw Ai take her normal turn off from the other two and into her home. She watched as Ai struggled while searching through her school bag for her key. She could just use the spare one Miki had come across while snooping around her house trying to find the best place to hide while still keeping the most windows in view so she could see Ai at most times. Turns out that hiding place is a tree in there backyard that was very simple to climb, but had so many leaves no one would even see you in there. She must have been watching for too long because suddenly Yossuis face was right in front of Mikis and looking at her oddly. “What’s up?” she asked nonchalantly.

Miki pulled away a little and leaned back into the bench. “Nothing, just watching my next assignment. You know, the norm for us.” She avoided eye contact with Yossui because she new she was about to be scolded again.

“You know we’re never supposed to approach an assignment unless it is as a stranger.” Yossui sighed and ran one hand through her short hair.

Miki rolled her eyes at the taller girl, “yea and?”

“What was that just then?”

“I was returning a wallet,” Miki snapped at her. “There is nothing wrong with that. It wasn’t even my assignments wallet. I barley said ten words to them.”

“Okay well then answer my next question.”

There was silence as Yossui stared at Miki like she was trying to see right through her eyes and to her very thoughts to get the answer without even having to say the question. Like, she didn’t really want to ask the question. “Which is?” Miki asked annoyed now at the slight interrogation she was getting from Yossui.

“Why are you watching this close?”

“What do you mean?” Miki glared at her annoyed.

Yossui sighed and stood up, motioning with her hand for Miki to follow her as they began to walk down the street. “You know exactly what I mean.”

“No I don’t. We’re supposed to watch them.”

“No this close Miki.” She said with particular emphasis on the word “this.” “We are supposed to watch them just enough that we know a time when they are alone so we can fulfill our mission. That’s it. Nothing more. Nothing less.”

“What makes you think I’m doing more than that?” Miki looked down and began to count the cracks they passed in the sidewalk. She and Yossui have had a similar conversation to this last time.

Yossui stopped and made Miki look her in the eyes. “Because I know you Miki.”

“Yea, and I thought I knew you,” Miki said quietly.

The taller girl held her breath for a moment mildly shocked by her statement. “What?” she finally breathed out.

Miki shook her head, “It’s nothing.”

“No its not.”

“Since Aya has been gone you’ve been different. I thought we were always on the same side. But now you’re always following me without me asking and scolding me about things Aya had always told us to do. It’s weird.” Miki felt relief that she was actually able to say this.

Now it was Yossuis turn to avoid eye contact. “What Aya taught us was…it’s just too much.”

“Aya taught us to be human…” Miki glared at Yossui who took a step back.

“When were we not human?”

“Oh like you don’t understand. We we’re never human when we first lived. You know this. They took the humanity right out of us and made us hateful…”

“And then we got another chance.” Yossui said smiling, thinking Miki was calming down.

Miki sighed, “what other chance? Yea, we sometimes get time to ourselves. But its not like we can really live again.”

“You want to die again?”

Miki was shocked at this question. Did she want to die? She looked down at the floor. As much as she hated herself sometimes, she didn’t want to die. She loved being able to live forever. She loved the fact that she had all this power. She was selfish. She would always be selfish…it was there fault.

“No, I don’t.” Miki finally said with a very strong voice.

Yossui kept smiling, but it was a more peaceful smile than before. “Then why are you so determined to make sure that they deserve to die? We aren’t supposed to do that. Its just Aya who thought that.”

“What’s wrong with being skeptical?”

“For us…everything. You have to trust these assignments. I’m only trying to protect you.” She dropped her voice; “You know it’s not good to break the rules created by someone as powerful as the devil.”

Miki nodded her head, “yea I know. But Aya said-“

“Aya isn’t here anymore. So just forget it. Complete your assignment and move on to the next. Live your life.”

“What life,” Miki said to herself so that Yossui couldn’t hear. They resumed walking in silence for a while as Miki tried to let go. But she couldn’t, what Aya had taught her to do was to check. But never get so close that you get in trouble…she had forgotten about that warning. As much as Aya seemed to care about the people she killed, she never let that interfere with keeping her own life. Miki silently scoffed, that was the problem with being an Interfector. They are all so selfish.

“Listen, I know you still have more than seven weeks to go on this assignment. And I know it’s going to be an easy kill because she seems to spend quiet a bit of time alone, so do you want to take a break? I’ve got an assignment up in Italy for the next two weeks. You want to come up for one?” It was then that Yossui pulled out an envelope and handed it to Miki. “Even if you don’t I still got you the ticket. It’s for tomorrow, Friday. So I hope you come out, we should spend more time together.”

Miki smiled, yea just because Aya is gone doesn’t mean we have to split up. Yossui smiled back and then jumped up and into the nearest tree. Leaving Miki standing there with a smirk on her face. That was Yossui, she just shows up whenever she pleases, and leaves whenever as well.

Staring down at the envelope she opened it up to see the plane ticket Yossui had bought her to Italy. She looked up to see that they had stopped walking right in front of Ais house. Yossui was right; it was going to be a very easy kill. But…Miki still didn’t think she was a bad person…she was actually quiet nice. Miki sighed again, “This is all too much. Maybe a vacation will be good for me.”

You're right in the sense that this creates more questions but wrong in the sense that it's a bad chapter. Far from it. I enjoyed it. I  when Kame didn't even notice she dropped her wallet. So typical. Maybe Ai's getting a bit suspicious that this woman has been in the same place for the past 4 days. Then again, we are talking about Ai-chan so maybe not. I wonder why she is supposed to be killed. So Aya taught them to study their assignments closely, but not close enough to let it get in the way of their own lives. I'm curious as to what happened to Aya and why she's gone. And these interfectors are immortal? Like they're dead but not at the same time. Interesting. I wanna see what's gonna happen in Italy! Maybe some more loving, perhaps?

OoOoO i like!! i love the little part where yossi take the sword and swings it!  why must you tease us with an intense trailer!?! :(
i'm really looking forward to see what happens!!
 :cow: *sees Reina!*  :cow:

I really am just a tease then aren't I XD
But I love making things with videos so I'll probably have at least one more trailer by the time this is done with ...

haha....yes...Reina...hmm...when will she appear? muahaha
I like it! You're really good! I love the beginning where Miki is looking all tough and then the "or not" makes her look all vulnerable and sad. I like my Miki both ways. And all the little snippits make it seem like a real trailer in a movie.

Thanks =]
Miki is any way is just sooo likable...
that was hot...

i'm sooooo looking forward to what you're whipping up...
I would have to say...yes I think its hot too...the part where Miki glares...ahhh~
but thanks =]
me too because I finally got my outline all the way up so it should make for quicker updates =]

Aya taught them to be human, huh? :mon dunno: It's kinda surprising that it's Miki who has moral dilemmas as she normally is the most immoral one  XD but again, if it was Aya who told her that she definitely must have reconsidered some things :) Can't wait to see how things will go in Italy (if she will go there of course...  )

So they've already died, but were "brought back" as part of some deal with the devil, yet they CAN die again.

...

Makes one wonder even more about what happened to Aya. :O

By far my fave chapter, that's for sure!

Okay, so now I'm bubbling up with theories. I'm gonna have to take this back to chapter one.

The people talking at the beginning of the story as the minute goes by, I think it might be Yossy and Miki. The one that dissapears/Dies is Miki. Miki didn't go forth with her assignment for X or Y reason and hence she's terminated.

I kinda figured they had to make a deal with someone to end up being in their profession. The question is: under what conditions are you get offered the deal and How do you get chosen.

Something else that I keep wondering is "how do you become an assignment?" ... what is the criteria they go by to be chosen as an Assignment. Only time will tell =( ... PoPoe has no choice but to wait  :mon unsure:

P.S. Aya =

Miki and her dilemmas... they're a trouble, it should to be difficult... kill persons... Miki even had human feelings  :mon determined:

yossy cares about miki... so lovely!!  :mon angel: (i'll die and go with them) XD

:? Don't get what this means.

Yeah, that chapter explains a lot. I have a rough idea how Aya died and I reckon it has something to do with 'feeling for the target'. And perhaps it is a similar case this time round, so Miki might be thrown into the same dilemma to choose between living herself and letting a good person live. It's a hard decision to make.

Please have a flashback scene! Please :D!

Awww Miki does have a heart here  and of course, it's all because of Aya!
Yossy is trying to corrupt her though :( She corrupt her in other ways as much as she likes in Italy, I wouldn't mind that
I'm not gonna try guessing at the characters from the start coz I just wanna be surprised her at least develop with the story as it goes on... With saying that, I am probably leaning towards someone's (sorry i can't remember who :( ) theory that Miki falls for Ai and can't go through and dies in her place.
I think I get more of the ins and outs of the infectors now but who knows, I wouldn't be surprised if you throw me right off later :P
Btw, how many chapters do you have predicted for this one?

Also, I loooove the new trailer! :D I adore that song coz it was used in a Willow/Tara (Buffy) OPV once that was all kinds of awesome, so your's was a guaranteed win right from the get go! ;)
To me, the addition of all the trailers (even there has only been  thus far) gives the fic a 3-Dimensional feel... It makes it more then just words on the screen and more like a movie, thus giving it somewhat realistic feel, despite the 'supernatural' aspect of it :P
In short: I love the addition of trailers and please keep it up

Haha yea Aya is a big mystery in this story...but it doesn't look like where she went will be revealed anytime soon. Hell, Miki doesn't even know...dun dun dun

Aya taught them to be human, huh? :mon dunno: It's kinda surprising that it's Miki who has moral dilemmas as she normally is the most immoral one  XD but again, if it was Aya who told her that she definitely must have reconsidered some things

Yep human in that metaphorical way at least =P

So they've already died, but were "brought back" as part of some deal with the devil, yet they CAN die again.

eh kinda, it will be explained in further detail later on

Thank you very much!

Hmm Yossui and Miki...that could be very plausible

I was wondering when someone would start pondering how you become an assignment! don't worry, I will tell you all eventually =D

Yes Aya is a badass

yossy cares about miki... so lovely!!  :mon angel: (i'll die and go with them) XD

It basically means like you don't approach who you are supposed to kill unless its like an accident and you don't really talk. Like as a stranger...uhmm Idk how to explain it better than this XD

Theres going to be some flashback scenes
But I actually have so much I could use for a prequel story
like Ayas story...what do you all think about that?

Btw, how many chapters do you have predicted for this one?

It's honestly hard for me to predict exact amount of chapters for this one. I have it all basically in order of what is going to happen. But I'm basically writing a chapter and following hte order until I like what it has in it XD
But if I had to give you an exact prediction. Okay so there are 8 so far and then besides what has happened there are like 54 bullits in my notes...lets say 3 to 4 bullets per chapter maybe like... 20-24 chapters total? Give or take...

I'm glad you like the trailers =D I will try to think of more then!

Haha yea its been a while I know ^^;
and I'm sorry to say that there really isn't much in this chapter
but I really like it for some reason...and okay so I haven't re read it yet so there are probably many mistakes. But I'll get to fixing minor typos and such later tonight...

Chapter 9: Italia

Miki lazily leaned her arm against the row of chairs in front of her as she waited for the other passengers to file off of the plane. She made a mental note to kill Yossui when she saw her for at least not getting her slightly better seats. First class was probably out of the question. However, she had got the seats right next to the wings making the flight extremely noisy. Plus to top that off she had a middle seat so she couldn’t even lean against anything and attempt to fall asleep. Then the movie they played was in freaking Italian! Not that Yossui had any control over this…but Miki still wanted to squeeze the life out of her “friend.”

Finally the people in front of her began to move forward. Miki swung her small duffle over her shoulder and began to slowly follow them out the plane, then through the ramp, and into the airport. She looked up at the signs to find the direction of the luggage carousals. Not that she had any more luggage than this small duffle, but that was usually where the exit was. She was at Gate 8 so it only took about a minute until she was slowly taking the steps down to ground level and her way out.

As she neared the bottom of the steps she pulled her cell phone from her pocket and was about to dial Yossuis number to ask her where she was, Miki didn’t feel like figuring it out, when she noticed a cab driver holding a white sign that read “FUJIMOTO” in big bold letters. Of course Yossui would do something ridiculous like this and get her a Taxi. She sighed and walked over to the balding Taxi driver. She pointed one finger at the sign and then at herself. She wasn’t even going to attempt Italian. Luckily the guy got the hint and began to lead her out of the airport and to his lime green Taxi.

He opened the trunk for Miki to put away her small duffle. She scoffed inwardly, it was a tiny bag, and she could sit with it in the back seat. But then she realized he was just being nice and doing his job so she politely shook her head and smiled trying to communicate “no thank you.” He seemed to understand for he smiled back before closing the trunk and opening the back door for her.

* * * * *

About an hour into the drive Miki began to seriously ponder where in the world Yossui was having this cabby take her. First it started out normal; they were driving through a nice Italian city. But about ten minutes ago he had turned onto a dirt road that was slightly uncomfortable to ride over considering how bumpy it was getting.

She leaned her head against the glass and decided it was best to just not think about it. Yossui was sort of known, at least in her eyes, to have strange ways of going about things. Besides, she was already going to kill her for the plane ride; she shouldn’t start thinking about how awful the Taxi ride is or she just might torture Yossui and then proceed to kill her.

Smirking to herself she watched outside the car as they passed many different types of trees. It sort of felt like they were going up at a shallow angle, like it was a hill or something. Miki sighed and moved her head so the top was against the window as she closed her eyes. The car went over a big bump and Mikis whole body went into the air a little and she quickly opened her eyes.

“Stupid dirt road,” she mumbled and the Taxi driver looked up at his rear view mirror to give her a questioning look. She just smiled politely and he smiled back before resuming staring at the road.

Miki placed her hands in her lap and watched the Taxi driver in the mirror for a little while. His nose was kind of big and rounded. His eyes were of course much bigger than hers. But he had a nice small soft smile on his face. All the man was doing was driving her around, yet he was smiling. It must be nice for him to have found a job that he can do while smiling. Even if it was as simple as being a Taxi driver.

Now smiling herself Miki glanced down and stared at her hands. That’s when her mind started to wander. Her watch was loosely around her left wrist and even though the face of her watch was pointing away from her, she could still clearly make out what it said.

48

Roughly seven weeks.

Mikis smile faded as she thought about how long of a time that was for her to complete such a simple mission. Then how short of a time it would be if you knew that is all you had left to live, at max. Miki could have gone and killed her on the first day. It wouldn’t have been hard. But for some reason she didn’t.

The ride then seemed to get extremely bumpy and that’s when Miki realize the Taxi was stopping. She glanced around, but there was no town. Not even one little house. All she could see was trees, the one road and then a small mountain to her left. The Taxi driver got out and then opened Mikis door for her and she climbed out. Some dust flew up when her feet made contact with the dusty road.

She set down her bag and was about to reach for some money when the cabby stopped her. “It paid full,” he said in broken English. Miki smiled, she could understand English. “This for you,” he then handed her a sealed white envelope before getting back into his Taxi and driving off.

Miki stared down at the note in her hands for a moment before rolling her eyes and opening it.

Now Miki don’t get too mad about this but…turns out my assignment is in a really small town near the top of the mountain that you should be standing next to if the guy dropped you off at the right spot. I thought it would be funny to make you climb it.
You can follow the road if you want and go around and around and around and it will probably take a really long time. Or you can just scale the side. It shouldn’t be too hard for you. Besides, there is no way you can get lost. The town is really easy too find.

   Good luck!   - Yossui =]

Miki balled her fist, crumpling up the letter before throwing it on the floor. Oh yea, she was dead.

* * * * *

It’s a good thing Miki was in great shape because she managed to scale the mountain in about forty five minutes flat and was now only a couple yards from the town. The only credit she would give Yossui was that it was not a hard town to find. Yes, small. But hard to find, nope.

She took her duffle off of her back and began to walk through the small streets. Now this was the hard part. Where the hell would Yossui be? It was then that Miki spotted a small pub. It was just about sun set and Miki could go for a quick drink.

Upon entering Miki smirked, of course this is where Yossui would be waiting for her.

Yossui was sitting at the edge of the bar sipping what looked like a martini as she watched a soccer game that was displayed on the monitor. Miki walked over and plopped down on the empty seat next to her. “I really want to kill you right now, you know.” She shot a death glare over at Yossui who seemed unfazed as she took another small sip of her drink.

“Oh you know that climb was easy,” she smirked and pushed the now empty glass away from her.

Miki rolled her eyes and slumped against the bar. “Yes, but I wanted this to be more of a vacation.”

Yossui burst into laughter causing a couple of people to glance over at them. “A vacation?!” she wiped away some of her tears. “Man, you must not know me at all.”

Miki slouched lower against the bar, “I guess I was just hoping for too much.”

The taller girl smirked before getting up from her chair and motioning for Miki to follow her. “Well unless you’re getting something to drink we might as well head on out so I can show you where we are staying.”

Miki, almost reluctantly, followed. “Okay well it better be nice. And let me make one thing clear.” She walked up and in front of Yossui stopping her as she left the bar. “I will Not sleep in the same bed with you.” Not after all the pain this trip has been.

Yossui waved her hands in the air, “Of course not. There are two beds. Chill out.” She smirked a little. “Of course, there just futons so we could always scoot them together.”

Miki glared at the blonde. “Correction, I will not even sleep in the same room as you.”

“Fine fine, you win.”

With one final glare Miki stepped aside to let Yossui pass.

* * * * *

“We’re sleeping in an abandoned Judo Dojo!?” Miki almost shouted as she stood outside the worn down building.

Yossui shrugged, “Turns out in a town this small there isn’t enough people who want to learn Judo to keep the place up.” Yossui looked over to see Miki glaring at her with her arms crossed in front of her chest. “What?”

“This place looks like it will fall down if the wind even blows to hard.”

“Oh come on,” Yossui walked up behind Miki and began to push her inside the building. “It’s much nicer on the inside, you’ll see.”

As they entered Miki closed her eyes afraid of what Yossuis version of nicer would be. However, she was delightfully surprised. It was nicer. Much nicer on the inside. There was an office to the left and beside that a very big training room. There was an assortment of weapons you normally wouldn’t find in a Judo Dojo as well. Miki pointed over to all the various knives, “What’s all that for?”

She shrugged once again, “I just thought maybe we could get some training in while we are here. I mean, we are staying in a dojo after all. Besides, you’re getting a little chu-“ She didn’t have time to finish her sentence before Miki had dropped her bag and grabbed Yossui by the arm throwing her over her shoulder.

Yossui moaned a little in pain as she rolled over on her side and started to get back up. “You were saying?”

“What’s all the noise?”

Both girls quickly spun around to look for the source of the voice. It seemed to be coming from the office. Neither one of them had turned the lights on yet so they couldn’t see who was there.

Then a sleepy yawn rang around the room. “Is anyone there?” the strange voice spoke once again.

Miki let her guard down a little and took a few steps forward. She knew that voice from somewhere. There was a shuffling of feet causing both Yossui and Miki to stiffen once again in anticipation before the lights were switched on.

“Koharu?!” Mikis eyes got about as big as plates. She glanced over at Yossui to see that she was equally surprised.

But there was no mistaking it. There was little Koharu standing next to the light switch with a big sleepy smile on her face.

Yossy, so cruel... I like it ;) Miki could use the tables being turned on her sometimes :P
Regardless, poor Miki sounds completely emotionally drained... She really needs her Aya
Oh come on Mikitty, what's a vaction without sleeping in the same room, or same futon or... you know... on top of... Yossy

Koha  She's such a hyperactive puppy, following her owner around like that.

Oh and random, the first part about the plane reminded me of how much I looooove flying, but now I wanna go on a flight again :(

Love how Yossy does whatever she wants with Miki and she is still alive, well, literally XD
But if you think about it, if Miki is thinking in a way to torture Yossy, she forgets about her assignment.
So, no sleeping in the same futon?  the other time she said she was tired and only wanted to sleep but you know what happened

Koharu?! :? what's she doing there?

Woah! ten comments already =] I'll be putting up another update within 12 hours XD (yea I know 12 hours seems like a long time...but I got stuff to do...but I have small time frames in between to do them. So I'm giving myself a good deadline I can work with =D )

But I'll reply to those comments now

Whoooooo!!! I've missed you and your updates!
Hmm, Italy, huh? Interesting! Yossy just likes being mean to Miki! :hiakhiakhiak: The dojo sounds pretty nice. And Koharu?! :mon closeup: What the hell is she doing in Italy?!

thanks! I've missed updating (but school starts monday...drat)
Yea you would think it would be the other way around XD and Koharu...is soon to be revealed lol

Yay thank you! I'm glad I'm still getting newer readers =D

And YAY!!! :D Random Koharu appearances are always welcome. Hope Miki doesn't kill her since she's in an already bad mood.

XD I should totally make a deleted scene where Miki goes all psyco and kills Koharu for showing up and shes already in a bad mood because of Yossui. I think that would be hilarious to write...

Italia, Italia~! :onioncheer: I'm a supporter of the Italian soccer team XD

Maybe...I should rewrite it all and make them go to France
Because France is better
*gets out hit list*
and as I sit here in my official France Zidane jersey (yea I'm wearing it)
*writes down "peti-chan"*
I can't help but add you to my list
I is watching you now! *growl*

(XD no hard feelings...)

lol the whole trek was amusing..the best part was Koharu popping out of nowhere!   Can't wait to see what becomes of Miki's "vacation" and can't wait to see further developments with Miki's assignment.

There won't be much interaction between Miki and Ai for a little while. But more like these chapters are just going to be informative about Interfectors =D

Oh come on Mikitty, what's a vaction without sleeping in the same room, or same futon or... you know... on top of... Yossy

XD I know! what the hell is Miki thinking?

evil yossui... how can she do that to miki... lol... make her climb the mountain... haha...  :hiakhiakhiak:

Writing an annoyingly evil Yossui and a pissed off Miki is just so much fun lol

So, no sleeping in the same futon?  the other time she said she was tired and only wanted to sleep but you know what happened

Maybe Miki will get her way this time? lol...but I somehow doubt I will be able to restrain myself from writing them in the same futon...XD

three is a crowd for some YoMiki moments

Or it can make them better...muahahaha (remember there are only two futons in the dojo)

Chapter 10: Futon

“Koharu!” Miki yelled as her arms dropped to her sides, no longer concerned about protecting herself from the “mystery intruder.” Koharu just stood there seeming to be still half asleep as she rubbed her eyes and yawned. Yossui walked over to Miki and looked from her to Koharu and then back again.

“Koharu? So this is the kid you had to train that was such a pain in the a-“ she was cut off abruptly when Miki jabbed her in the side with her elbow. Miki looked back over to Koharu, but she hadn’t heard what Yossui said because she was now practically sleeping against the wall.

Miki sighed and walked over to the youngest girl. “Aww shes so cute,” Yossui whispered from across the room as Koharu staggered a little while trying to stay standing.

Cutting to the chase Miki looked straight into Koharus eyes, “What are you doing here?” The way she said it was kind of cold; but not because she didn’t like the kid. Yes, she had been a pain at some points. However, Miki exaggerated a lot when talking to Yossui about Koharu. In all honesty, Miki thought Koharu was a pretty okay little kid.

Koharu just stared at Miki for a moment as she pieced together the sentence in her half asleep mind. Miki hadn’t meant to hurt the kids feelings, but after a moment Koharus eyes began to water. “You don’t want me here?” she sputtered out before she began crying.

“Shit,” Miki mumbled as she watched Koharu stand there crying. “I didn’t mean it like that.” Too late for excuses because Koharu half on purpose and half because she lost her balance went down to the floor as she continued to cry. Miki knelt down beside her and, with a quick glance back at Yossui (who was smirking for the obvious reason that Mikis motherly side was about to come out), wrapped her arms around the younger girl. “I honestly didn’t mean it like that,” Miki whispered as she stroked her black hair.

She sniffled a little, “Then what did you mean?”

“It was more of a,” Miki paused. “How did you manage to find me all the way in Italy? You didn’t even know I was coming here.” Miki smiled comfortingly at Koharu as her tears finally began to stop. “There that’s better.”

When Koharu had finally finished sniveling, Yossui brought out a couple of mats to the center of the dojo and they all sat down there. “How did I find you?” Koharu repeated the question aloud. “Well,” Miki stared at her waiting for her answer. “I don’t really know.” The youngest of the three smiled sheepishly and looked down at the floor.

“You don’t know?” Miki scoffed, “So what you just had a feeling that I was here?”

“Yes.”

Miki blinked a couple of times in slow motion. “Oh…well…hey!” she glared over at Yossui. “Why the hell are you giggling?”

The blond smiled devilishly over at Miki, “Because you forgot.”

“I forgot wha…oh…” Miki narrowed her eyes and looked at Yossui. “Well it’s not like I use that all the time. It’s you who hunts me down. So it’s okay for me to forget on occasion.”

Yossui rolled her eyes, “uh huh. Excuses, excuses.” This just made Miki glare harder, so much that Yossui mock flinched like she was under fire from death glares.

“Uhmm,” both girls looked over at Koharu. “What are you two talking about?”

“Oh just-“ Miki began, but Yossui cut her off.

“Why don’t I explain it since you forgot?” Miki just rolled her eyes and got up from the mat and went into the office. She mumbled a few choice curse words as she left.

Yossui scooted closer to Koharu on the mat. “It’s not really something we understand completely. But we know it exists.” Yossui paused to make sure that Koharu was paying attention to her. “Us Interfectors, for some reason, when we want to find each other…it’s just like you said. We just kind of know where the other is.” Yossui then looked away from the younger girl as she realized just how stupid she sounded saying these words aloud. But there really wasn’t a better way to explain it.

“Unless we don’t want to be found,” came Mikis voice from the entrance to the office. She was leaning against the door frame with her arms crossed over her chest.

“Oh yea, that’s right!”

“Now who’s the one forgetting,” Miki rolled her eyes before she went back into the office and away from the other two.

Yossui was about to make some snappy remark back when Koharu spoke. “What does she mean, when we don’t want to be found?”

Pushing back some of her blond hair that had fallen in her face, Yossui continued. “It’s like, if you just want some alone time or something. You can basically mentally will yourself to become invisible to the other Interfectors…well not invisible. But you become just as hard to find as any regular human being.” Yossui smirked, “Or in most of cases, you’re even harder to find because we’re all so skilled at hiding.”

“Ohh…”

Yossui wasn’t sure if Koharu was really taking any of this in because she stilled seemed like she was nodding off every other minute. “Why don’t you go back to bed?” The tallest got up and offered her hand to Koharu.

“Wait a minute,” there was Miki again at the doorway. “I still have a question for Koharu.” The youngest looked over at Miki as she got up off the floor. “Now I want to know why you are here. I thought you wanted to live a normal life as much as possible.”

“Oh well,” Koharu looked down at the floor before she shrugged. “I don’t know. It was boring not really having anyone to talk to. It’s not like it’s easy to make friends now that I don’t go to school or anything. So I thought I would try to find you because you’re nice to me.”

Miki would never admit it out loud. Hell, she would probably kill someone before she would admit it out loud. But those words meant a lot to her. “Okay,” she said quietly before heading to the front door. “I’m going to go get some fresh air before bed. You should get back to sleep.”

* * * * *

About an hour passed before Yossui joined Miki outside on the front steps. “Cute kid.”

Miki scoffed and looked down at the floor. “Yea, but now we’re going to have to deal with her.”

“Aw Miki, she doesn’t seem that bad. Besides, you’re nice to her.” Yossui smirked and poked Miki in the side, who in response mock growled. “So have you trained her in anything yet?”

“Like what?” Miki didn’t move her eyes from the floor.

“Like any martial arts or anything. You know they’re useful for us. Besides, we have forever to learn them.”

“No.” Miki finally looked up at Yossui who looked like she was cooking up a scheme. “What are you going to train her?”

“Alone? No way,” she laughed a little. “But we both could. It will be really fun, like the old days. Besides, like I said before, you could use the work out. You’re getting a little chu-“

“That’s it I’m out of here,” Miki stood up and began to walk off back to the village. “I’m going for a walk. I’ll be back soon.” The reason she didn’t want to be around Yossui any more wasn’t even because she had called her chubby for the second time that day. But she mentioned the “old days.” That meant when it was her, Yossui and Aya. When things weren’t so lonely.

Miki didn’t look up when she heard footsteps follow behind her. “Miki wait! I didn’t mean anything by…” she trailed off as Miki stopped walking away, but didn’t look up.

“Yossui lay off.”

The taller girl was slightly taken aback at these words.

“You’ve been driving me crazy since my plane landed okay? So just lay off.”

They stood there not looking at each other for what seemed like an hour. Miki kept her eyes on the dirt road the whole time. She was so tired of everything Yossui did lately. She used to not mind Yossuis little stunts, but it was more than that. She didn’t seem to understand how much Miki was suffering when they were together. It just wasn’t the same as it used to be not matter how much Yossui wanted it to be and tried to make it be.

“I’m sorry.”

Miki looked up and over her shoulder at Yossui who was looking up at the starry sky.

“What?”

“I’m sorry.”

Mikis eyes drifted back to the dirt road as Yossui continued to stare at the sky. “I know I haven’t exactly been that great to you lately. I’m just…” Yossui closed her eyes. “I’m just worried about you. You’ve been doing some pretty stupid stuff with your assignments lately and it’s getting you in trouble.” Miki turned back away from Yossui as she listened. “You’re just getting to close and I’m scared for you.”

“Why do you have to be scared? I don’t see what the big deal is…”

No, Miki knew what this was about. Something happened where Aya learned too much and so she disappeared. Miki didn’t know all the details, but she was almost 100% sure that Yossui did. She was just too afraid to ask yet. Too afraid to know what had happened.

Miki was very content in her own little world with believing that Aya was still out there somewhere just ignoring her. Even though it hurt to think of Aya wanting to purposely leave her, it was better than the idea that she was gone forever. Although Miki still couldn’t understand how that could even happen to an Interfector.

There were no words again and the only thing that could be heard was the slight shuffling of feet before Miki felt strong arms around her shoulders. Yossuis lips where right up against Mikis ear as she spoke softly to her. “I’m also sorry for what I said the other day…”

She was of course referring to the day when Yossui had invited Miki to Italy, and the day when she scolded her for interacting with her assignment.

“I shouldn’t try to interfere so much with your work. But seriously Miki,” Yossui pulled away with her hands still on the shorter girls shoulders and whirled her around to face her. Their eyes locked momentarily, “You really worry me.” Miki looked away, “I care about you…”

“I know…”

Things were beginning to get a little too intense for Miki to handle this much longer without wanting to demand that she explain everything. If she really cared that much she would have told her what happened already to make Yossui so paranoid about this kind of stuff.

Miki broke into a light smile, “its okay. Besides I know I can’t really die again forever. Even if I wanted to.”

“It’s a good thing because I don’t know what I would do if you left,” Yossui replied as she ran one hand through Mikis soft brown hair.

Kind of like how I feel…

The pair made their way back to the Dojo without exchanging another word. It was like there was finally peace between the two of them after some time. Miki smiled at Yossui as they both got out the futon and laid it out in the middle of the Dojo.

However, the peace was broken.

“I thought you said there were two?!”

Yossui rolled her eyes, “Well there was two. But Koharu needed a place to sleep.”

Miki took two steps away from the futon. “No way am I sleeping in that small made-for-one futon with you.”

“Fine,” Yossui shrugged. “Then just sleep on the floor.” And with that Yossui laid down under the covers and closed her eyes. “Get the lights will you?”

Miki wished she didn’t like Yossui so much so that she could strangle her without feeling bad. Sighing she walked over and flipped off the lights before going back and standing next to the futon. “Oh whatever…” she sighed as she crawled in next to Yossui.

Soon she felt familiar arms around her waist as she drifted off to sleep…

Good luck with school!

Awww, mommy Miki!!! Melts my heart everytime! Hmmm, Aya.....so she disappeared after finding out too much about something. Yossy probably knows all about it but Miki's too scared to ask her. I'm quite curious about why Aya's gone. :dunno: And correct me if I'm wrong but Miki was (is) in love with Aya, wasn't she? That's why it hurts her so much that she's gone.
Oshit, and maybe that's why she's having trouble with Ai-chan's case. She can see that Gaki's in love with Ai-chan and she doesn't want anyone to have to feel the way she does!!! OMG, maybe I cracked the case!!!! :hehehe: Or maybe I'm just overthinking it!!! XD

Ooooooooookay! This was a pretty good chapter.
So Koha was there because she wanted to see Miki? Silly girl, but mommy Miki is so sweet  Yossy was having fun there
Now that you explain that about the interfectors finding each other, is not a surprise that Yossy always knows where is Miki.
Also, I'm glad that you have shown us this other side of Yossy :) the one that cares about Miki... and just like Miki said, it seems that Yossy knows more things than her, perhaps she knows the truth about what happened with Aya and she doesn't want to tell Miki because she knows about her feelings towards Aya, but it would be sad if Yossy felt something deep for Miki and this one did not want to move on and correspond her feelings

yay! I knew it, Miki couldn't sleep separated of Yossy  for a moment I thought Koha's presence would disturb Yomiki, glad to see she's a good kid and didn't get in the way  :P

Maybe is too soon to start with theories, but something makes me think that Aya is still alive but she doesn't want to be found :?

Well, I'l be waiting the next chapter with more adventures in Italy ;)

Chapter 9: Italia
Quote
she had got the seats right next to the wings making the flight extremely noisy. Plus to top that off she had a middle seat so she couldn’t even lean against anything and attempt to fall asleep. Then the movie they played was in freaking Italian! Not that Yossui had any control over this…but Miki still wanted to squeeze the life out of her “friend.”
Seats by the wings = sucks ass.
Can't understand the movie = sucks ass
Middle seat = OH MY FREAKING LORD PLEASE AVOID IF AT ALL POSSIBLE! :banghead:

Quote
About an hour into the drive Miki began to seriously ponder where in the world Yossui was having this cabby take her.
After an hour's cab ride, I'd be hoping that someone at the final destination has enough money to cover the fare.

Quote
Yossui was sort of known, at least in her eyes, to have strange ways of going about things. Besides, she was already going to kill her for the plane ride; she shouldn’t start thinking about how awful the Taxi ride is or she just might torture Yossui and then proceed to kill her.

Quote

Yossi is SO dead. XD

At least Miki doesn't have to worry about the fare, or carry a lot of luggage with her.

Quote
The taller girl smirked before getting up from her chair and motioning for Miki to follow her. “Well unless you’re getting something to drink we might as well head on out so I can show you where we are staying.”

Miki, almost reluctantly, followed. “Okay well it better be nice. And let me make one thing clear.” She walked up and in front of Yossui stopping her as she left the bar. “I will Not sleep in the same bed with you.”
Awwww.  :(

Quote
Yossui waved her hands in the air, “Of course not. There are two beds. Chill out.” She smirked a little. “Of course, there just futons so we could always scoot them together.”
Heeeeeeey.

Quote
“We’re sleeping in an abandoned Judo Dojo!?” Miki almost shouted as she stood outside the worn down building.

...

“Koharu?!” Mikis eyes got about as big as plates. She glanced over at Yossui to see that she was equally surprised.

But there was no mistaking it. There was little Koharu standing next to the light switch with a big sleepy smile on her face.
How the hell? :?

*MIKI-KOHARU TALK*
Awwwwwwww...

So Interfectors are all somehow psychically linked, but they can "hide" themselves if needed/desired. Interesting./me strokes his chin thoughtfully.

Meanwhile, Koharu's all ":mon one:" during all of this. :P

Oshit, all this time we're thinking Aya was killed in an accident or something. But was Aya actually "eliminated" by the Interfector higher-ups?  :o

Ooooooooooooo...never thought of that possibility. But then, if this is what happened to Aya? Why? She would have, effectively, banished/exiled herself by doing this.

“I shouldn’t try to interfere so much with your work. But seriously Miki,” Yossui pulled away with her hands still on the shorter girls shoulders and whirled her around to face her. Their eyes locked momentarily, “You really worry me.” Miki looked away, “I care about you…”

“I know…”

...

The pair made their way back to the Dojo without exchanging another word. It was like there was finally peace between the two of them after some time.

It's like they've got a love/hate thing goin' on.

Quote
Miki smiled at Yossui as they both got out the futon and laid it out in the middle of the Dojo.

However, the peace was broken.

“I thought you said there were two?!”

Yossui rolled her eyes, “Well there was two. But Koharu needed a place to sleep.”
:wahaha:

Quote
“Oh whatever…” she sighed as she crawled in next to Yossui.

Soon she felt familiar arms around her waist as she drifted off to sleep…
Familiar?

...

...

FAMILIAR???
:mon wtf:

Hmmm...lemme guess. When it was Aya was still around and training Miki and Yossi, they were all close, but the latter two actually hooked up (or at least, wanted to/came close to it). When Aya disappeared, something about it caused the tension that is occurring between them now.

Awww, Yossy really does care about her, she just has a strange way of showing it but that little moment between them so sweet! Of course Miki couldn't resist sleeping in the same futon as Yossy

I can't wait for more YoMiki antics, with it be sweet, hot or mean tricks from Yossy :P
Now they can both 'raise' Koha together :D

aw so all those little annoyances that Miki went through was Yossui's way of looking out for her   still though poooor Miki!  the scale the mountain part was hilarious!

so Yossui hasn't told Miki what happened to Aya...hm then what happened to her must have been truly awful or Aya's still alive somewhere in lock-down and Yossui knows Miki will try to save her so keeps her from knowing...because like Miki said they can't die twice, or Miki's right and Aya's doing the whole 'not want to be found thing'.   my mind is abuzz with all the possibilities... :dizzy:

hope you update soon  ;)

mmm so I felt really bad that it's been so long since I've updated
So I thought I would publish this first part of the next chapter...because this is all I have XD

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chapter 11.1

“Unnghhh…bleeeghhhh…” Miki began to roll around on the futon making these strange “waking up” noises as she would call them. It was something she would do quiet often when she was already fully awake but didn’t want or have the energy to actually complete the motion of rising out of bed. But then…something else caught her attention.

She stopped flopping around on the futon and lay on her back, eyes closed, sniffing the air. “That smells like…” she took a huge, fairly loud, sniff. “Eggs? Mmmmmm…” She continued to lay there and just sniff at the cooking breakfast until she realized two things.

One, that the eggs had been cooking for much longer than the amount of time one would think they should. And two, the scent always associated with burnt food was starting to waft through the air.

She slowly opened up one eye and peeked around the room. No one was there and the sun was gently streaming in through the open side door. Scratching the back of her head while yawning, she sat up and began to stretch. Her face began to move into all sorts of strange expressions as she attempted to wake up her muscles before standing up and stretching again.

Not bothering to fold up the futon, she would make Yossui do it later, Miki heavily stomped over to the open door and peered outside. She was met with a sight of little Koharu jumping up and down with a leaf in hand while she tried to fan out the fire that had sprung up from where there used to be eggs.

Warning bells went off in Mikis head as she ran over to the little one barefoot. “What the hell do you think you’re doing!?” She screamed grabbing the leaf from Koharu who just looked at her with big eyes pleading for assistance.

Miki looked at the burning pot and then back at Koharu who had started to jump up and down for apparently no reason except pure panic. Looking around Miki spotted a spout next to the dojo, which hopefully the water still worked in, and thinking quickly she ran inside to the supply closet and grabbed the mop bucket. Once she had taken it back outside and filled it with water she threw it over the fire.

Setting down the bucket Miki peered at the remains of their breakfast. “Well at least they were already burnt. Because if they weren’t bad before now they’re completely soa- ACK!” She cut off herself with a small scream as ice cold water was poured on her head.

She whirled around to see a smiling Yossui. “Oh did you already get the fire out?” She said trying to act innocent.

Miki glared at her before lunging and tackling the taller girl to the ground. “WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT YOSHIZAWA!” They continued to wrestle on the floor with Miki winning for the most part probably due to how angry she was. “AND WHY THE HELL DID YOU LEAVE KOHARU ALONE WITH FIRE!?”

Yossui tried to respond but only managed to get out a couple of grunts.

“I would kill you if I didn’t like you so much…” Miki mumbled more to herself than anyone as she finally let Yossui go, who was now lying on the ground panting and struggling for air, before walking back inside the dojo now wishing more than ever that she had never got up.

Koharu just stood off to the side staring wide eyed at Yossui.

Once back inside the dojo Miki proceeded into the office as she tried to find peace. That little adventure so early in the morning had given her a slight headache. But what she found in the office did not please Miki. Well, that is until she realized the up-side to it all.

There Yossui had left Miki a note and a very generic Martial Arts uniform that was white with a black belt. The note said something along the lines of training Koharu and starting that today. Miki was more interested in now she could actually beat the other girl to a pulp, not unlike she had done just a minute ago, and have someone learn from it in a constructive way.

Miki would never admit that she also happened to think training Koharu was a good idea. She liked the kid and wanted to see her go far…well if you could go far as an Interfector.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(Then I decided this was necessary...)
Me: So like I'm not sure if this part is really needed for the story...
Yossy: *counting bruises* Then why put it in?
Me: I thought it was kind of cute
Yossy: Cute?! You think me being beat up is cute?!
Miki: Chill Yocchan, she just likes writing about us rolling around on the ground together...even if it is me just beating you up...
Yossy: Wha...?
Me: *day dreams*
Miki: See

Anyway, I'll try ad make a real update very soon...

Chapter 11: Training

Two figures stood locked together in the center of the dojo. The only sounds that could be heard were the occasional padding of bear feet on the mats and the cloth of there uniforms being pulled in a rough way. The taller had one hand firmly on the smallers forearm and the other at her shoulder as she attempted to maneuver for the advantage.

The smaller had one hand also on the tallers shoulder, but her other hand flailed helplessly off to the side as it had just been knocked loose and now Miki was staggering backwards trying to avoid the sweeps of Yossuis feet to knock her down. Sweat dripped off of both of them as they had been fighting like this for nearly an hour now with no victor.

Miki managed to bring her arm back to grab the others forearm and the struggle for dominance resumed. The tallers eyes dropped to watch their footwork and Miki seeing the opportunity knocked Yossuis arm off of her shoulder and spun her body into the others at the same time releasing her own hand that had been on Yossuis shoulder.

Now the blonde was trapped as Miki held her other arm strongly with both hands and crouched lower. Yossui closed her eyes bracing herself for impact as she felt her body lifted off the ground by her arm before being thrown quiet roughly over Mikis shoulder to land on her back with a loud thump.

Yossui opened her eyes and looked up at Miki who held a smug expression on her face as she released her grip on the taller girls arm as she took one step back to give her space to stand up.

Koharu came out from her hiding place in the office wearing a matching uniform to the other two girls only with a white belt. Miki looked over at her and just rolled her eyes. She had been such a coward to hide from the two of them; even if they had at one point completely forgotten that they were trying to show the young girl moves and instead it just turned into a full out Judo match.

“You caught me off guard,” Yossui laughed as she sat up. Although the laughter soon turned into a slight coughing fit as she was still breathing heavily. But when she stood completely up it her breath was back and her heart had slowed to a normal rate. The only trace that she had been in a fight less than a minute ago was the faint sweat marks all over her clothes.

Miki stood there with her arms on her hips looking more like she was waiting to fight next than she had been the one fighting.

“That was amazing!” Koharu suddenly shouted causing both of the black belts to look over. The youngest bounded over to them excitedly. “It was like you were moving extra fast, but I could keep up. It was amazing! I don’t think I’ll be able to do it…” she looked down at the floor frowning.

Yossui walked over and planted one hand on top of Koharus black hair causing the girl to look up. She was greeted by a friendly smile. “Trust me, you’ll catch on quick.”

“But you two were moving so fast,” Koharu exclaimed jumping into the air twirling as if trying to prove her point.

Miki scoffed and walked over to join the other two. “Look kid,” she crossed her arms over her chest. “We were moving fast. When you make the deal you also get sort of…super human powers I guess…” She looked at Koharu to make sure she comprehended.

“Like we can fly!?”

Obviously she didn’t get it. Miki sighed, “Not really. It’s more like the neurons in our brain can set off at 1,000mph, which is about 4 or 5 times faster than a regular persons neurons, giving us faster reflexes. And so if you have faster reflexes it just looks like you’re moving faster because you don’t need that extra second to comprehend before moving. Get it?”

The youngest still looked lost but still nodded. It’s not like if Miki explained it again she would get it. All she had to know is that her reflexes were faster.

Too bad Miki tried to explain it again anyway. “It’s like if you see that a car is coming at you: A normal person it would take a moment for them to run out of the way…it’s like a stall. They see the car and then it takes a moment for the neurons to fire off signaling that persons feet to run. We don’t need that extra moment. It’s instantaneous because our neurons fire just that much faster.”

Koharu seemed to get it a little more. But Yossui noticed this was getting nowhere fast so she spoke up. “How about we see if you learned anything from watching that match? Here,” she stuck out her arm with that confident gleam she sometimes got. “Try and flip me.”

* * * * *

“Oh My God Yossui! We’ve been at this training thing for the past five days straight! You’re trying to kill us…” Miki whined as she threw down her katana on the ground giving up the fight.

“She’s still not strong enough,” Yossui retorted sheething her own katana. There was no point in keeping it out if Miki wasn’t going to fight anymore.

“Yea right!” Miki sat down and smirked up at Yossui. “You just want to prove yourself. She managed to flip you and land such a hard blow to your gut that you had to take a fifteen minute break so you could stop coughing.”

The blonde looked away, “She caught me off guard.”

“Even that time I gave you a black eye?” the hyper active trainee piped in, causing a very Fujimoto like glare to appear on Yossuis face as she half drew her katana back out.

“Lucky shot!” She practically screamed.

There was a defining silence around the dojo before Miki and Koharu burst into laughter. Koharu who had been standing by Miki had to plant her katana into the ground and lean against it just so she wouldn’t fall over.

“Fine!” The oldest yelled sitting down on the floor with her arms crossed over her chest. “What do you suggest we do instead of training?” She eyed Miki who stopped laughing and looked up at the ceiling contemplating.

At the same time she felt a little bad for harping at Yossui. Those shots had been not lucky…but actually Yossui let Koharu hit her. Miki could tell; it was just like the blonde to let someone younger and less experienced feel good about herself. Miki would never do something like that.

In fact, Yossui was the only person that Miki could never beat in a sword fight or free for all. She could take her when it was a fight where there were rules and it was one selective martial art…but when it all came down to it Yossui was better.

She was always better; even when they first started training together. Miki fronted that it was because Yossui had been training for longer, but it was apparent that she would never catch up. She would never win and that’s why she got a little carried away verbally abusing the tallest of the three. But still, everyone, even Yossui, had a line of how much they could take at one time.

“Can I just ask some questions?” Miki jumped when Koharu spoke. She had completely forgotten she was supposed to be figuring out what to do next.

Yossui said nothing but looked at Miki to see what she thought. “Uhh yea, that sounds fine. What do you want to know?” They all instinctively moved into a triangle so it was better to hear each other speak. Yossui discarded her katana to some part of the room so it wouldn’t be in the way when she sat.

“Why me?”

The two more experienced exchanged knowing glances. This was never a fun thing to explain. Yossui was the first to speak, “When you are chosen to be an Interfector it’s because a certain aura grows inside of you pegging you to be so hateful towards humans that you feel the least amount of remorse towards them than anyone. It doesn’t mean you are entirely heartless, but it hurts less.” Yossui paused as she saw a sad look growing on Koharus face. In fact, Yossui began to struggle to say her next sentence. Explaining this always brought up memories of the past; of being a human.

Miki sensed this and quickly brought herself to a level she was very accustome with lately; a state of being without emotion. “This happens because when you were alive, and human, your life was what you wouldn’t call glamorous.” Miki spoke in monotone and averted her eyes as both Yossui and Koharu twitched a little. It was obvious that this was causing painful memories to resurface.

“The Interfector aura grows when one has a horrible and abusive life that ends sooner than you were supposed to die. Than God intended,” Miki continued. “I know, sounds odd. How can ones life end before the all mightly being in heaven meant for it too? When one has so much hate in their body it’s like they detach from all things good. That would include God…so your life is now in the hands of the devil.”

“And so even the devil is remorseful and tries to give you a second chance, but with the catch of working for him?” Both Yossui and Miki were surprised when Koharu was able to come up with that conclusion herself.

“Uhmm yea…that’s right. The devil convinces you to serve him for a new life. Most say yes because they have such a complete hatred for people in general.” Miki said smiling. Smiling was the best thing to do when you are trying to avoid painful memories.

She looked over at Yossui who hadn’t spoken in a while and was looking down at the floor, eyes glazed over as she was lost in thoughts about everything from before. It’s too bad we don’t get to forget our past, Miki thought as she watched her friend. In that moment she seemed so vulnerable. So weak; so different.

“But that’s not the only catch,” Yossui suddenly spoke up, not tearing her eyes away from the ground. “It’s also an everlasting life, we cannot die once we choose to come back.”

Koharu looked over at Yossui curious. But what she did not expect was a slow smirk to slowly spread across the blondes face. “You haven’t shown her what it’s like to die yet have you?” Yossui drawled out, looking over a Miki.

“No and I don’t want to,” Miki matched her smirk to Yossuis. “Remember how sick you got?”

Obviously that memory was just as unpleaset as the previous, but for other reasons. Her face turned to a pale green color, before shaking her head and composing herself again. “Yea well, it’s still something you should show her at some point…”

“Wait I’m confused,” Koharu announced from her spot on the floor.

Without looking away from Yossui as they were now having a staring contest to apparently decide who was right, Miki replied very business like. “Interfectors cannot die of old age because we do not physically age. We also cannot kill ourselves. However, we can be killed by others and brought back to life.”

“That sounds fun!”

“Trust me it isn’t,” Yossui now spoke also not breaking her gaze with Miki. “When you die you’re basically drained. It’s like getting up from a very long coma. The more times you die the easier it is to wake up though. The first time you probably won’t even get up for a week or so and then puke multiple times.”

“Trust Yossui,” Miki playfully scoffed at the other girl who stuck out her tongue in response. “Oh very mature.”

* * * * *

The rest of the day went by surprisingly without incident. Probably because Yossui went out to the town to pick up something she wouldn’t tell Miki or Koharu about. And Koharu had got a new assignment back in Japan so she set off to book a flight back leaving Miki to lie outside peacefully basking in the sun.

Well, until the sun went out. Then it was more like lying outside seeing how many mosquitos she could bat away from her before they bit into her skin.

Finally fed up with all the bugs she walked inside to see that Yossui hadn’t come back yet. “She’s been gone all day, what the hell could she be doing?”

Miki wandered around the dojo for a little while, until she noticed something odd coming from the office. The light was on…and Miki hadn’t left the light on when she went outside.

The brunette slowly approached the room ready to attack anyone who might be in there. But when she peered inside there was only a note and under that was a beautiful red silk dress.

She picked up the note that just read, “For Miki.”

“I hope it fits right,” came a nervous voice from behind causing Miki to whirl around in surprise only to be greeted by a very well dressed and suave Yossui. “I thought since you were leaving tomorrow we could go to this nice Italian restraint…”

Yossui was in a feminine suit and had a bouquet of roses tucked under her shoulder. She blushed and looked down at the floor. “You really should say something…I’m nervous enough as it is…”

Miki broke into a wide grin and walked over pulling the taller into a warm embrace. “You look nice,” she commented as she felt Yossui return the hug.

“I can try sometimes right?” she said with a smirk. Miki pulled back a little and stared into the tallers warm eyes. “I care about you and…I love you Miki.”

I love you too Yossui, Miki thought as she leaned in and their lips connected. I really do, but why do things have to be so difficult?

Bet Yossi's regretting that decision now. :P

Actually though, it's a nice thing that Yossi did. She's helping build up Koharu's self-confidence, which is something very important to have if she's going to be an Interfector and thus risk getting into a fight with an "unwilling target".

Really now? Might this be part of what's causing the tension between the 2 of them? Is Miki jealous of Yossi's skills?  Is Yossi aware of this?

The two more experienced exchanged knowing glances. This was never a fun thing to explain.
Ah yeah. Here comes the "it's your destiny" speech or something similar to it.

“Trust me it isn’t,” Yossui now spoke also not breaking her gaze with Miki.
Oh. :O

Yeah, I'm going to side with Yossi on this one.  Dying probably sucks enough on it's own, but then coming back? There's no guarantee that whatever it was that killed them in the first placed would be healed.

“When you die you’re basically drained. It’s like getting up from a very long coma. The more times you die the easier it is to wake up though. The first time you probably won’t even get up for a week or so and then puke multiple times.”
Ouch... :(

Quote
The rest of the day went by surprisingly without incident. Probably because Yossui went out to the town to pick up something she wouldn’t tell Miki or Koharu about. And Koharu had got a new assignment back in Japan so she set off to book a flight back leaving Miki to lie outside peacefully basking in the sun.
Koharu's already being given assingments? They must be easier ones since she's still fairly noobish at the job and all.

Their martial arts fighting is wicked. :w00t: I really enjoy it when you explain more things about Interfectors because it answers lots of the questions that are constantly buzzing around in my head. Wow, Yossy really let Koharu go at her! :D Yeah, Miki definitely wouldn't let that happen!
Uh oh, so all three of them (and Ayaya) had crappy lives before they died? By dying prematurely, does that mean they were killed by someone they cared about or something? I hope to hear more about their formal lives. *hint* XD

Haha... Uhmm I've been absent for way too long. Practically a year now.
HOPEFULLY! That will change and also hopefully I'll actually keep up on updating this story.

I'm not going to reply to comments right now because it's just been too long if that makes any sense. Not a very exciting chapter, mainly filler than anything, but it's necessary stuff. Also I didn't edit it yet, because I actually sat down to writing and want to post this right away. Anyways!

Chapter 12: School?

The journey back to Japan wasn’t quiet as painful as the journey there. Miki had managed to swindle her way into a first class ticket and spent the whole journey peacefully resting against the window only waking up once to receive an alright lunch from the stewardess. The person next to her was a peaceful old man who just kept to himself until they had landed. The captain had forgotten to announce the time over the intercom and so he just politely asked Miki what the current time in Japan was.

She glanced down at her watch forgetting completely that it did not display the time, but she did notice how it read “6w:0d:3h” and doing some quick calculations in her head she determined it was about nine at night currently. She relayed this information to the sweet old man while subconsciously being reminded that she had six more weeks and roughly three hours to kill her.

“Thank you young lady,” the old man smiled. “Do you happen to know the day of the week as well? I’m so old I can’t remember if the days change between traveling,” he smiled widely.

“Sunday,” Miki quickly replied as she picked up her carry-on bag from under her seat.

The man grinned again before waving goodbye and stepping out into the isle to exit the plane. Miki let the people across from her isle go ahead before stepping out herself.

* * * * *

That night Miki checked herself into a dingy little hotel on the 5th floor. It wasn’t the cleanest of establishments but it had a nice view of the city and she could pay as the days passed by. No one really stayed in it since it wasn’t holiday season and it was only about a two star hotel. There wasn’t even room service and the door barley locked, but Miki didn’t mine. She’d suffered worse before becoming an Interfector.

Upon this realization Miki began to think about her past. She got so caught up in all the forgotten memories that it wasn’t until five in the morning did she realize how exhausted she was and that sleep was at this point a necessity unless she wanted to pass out on the spot.

Tucking herself into bed, she glanced out the window at the incoming sun one last time before falling into a deep sleep.

There she began to relive her past once again. But this time it wasn’t from before the first time she had experienced death. It was after that… her journeys with Aya and Yossui. A gloomy smile spread across her face as she slept reliving all the wonderful times they had together. For the time she was sleeping, Miki could believe it was real. Believe that nothing bad had happened yet and that she was with Aya. One of the only people Miki ever truly cared about in her life.

But as the dream persisted on, somehow Ai began to enter the picture. She re-watched the times she had spied on Ai and her laughing with her friends at the lunch table; going home to see her little sister and the smile that would plaster on her goofy monkey-like face.

Then she saw herself, cornering Ai who did not look afraid for her own death. She was begging though, begging for her life to be spared. But not for herself, no, she was too self less for that request. Shinning in her eyes was the reflection of her little sister and how alone she would become without her nee-chan to take care of her and wake her from all her nightmares…

Miki woke sitting bolt upright in the bed forgetting all the images of the dream she had been experiencing just moments before and peered out the window to the city below. The sun was streaming in violently and Miki glanced over to the cracked alarm clock on the bed stand.

She threw the sheets off of her and ran into the bathroom. It was already three o’clock in the afternoon and Ai’s school would have got out fifteen minutes ago. There was a slight chance she could still catch her as she left.

* * * * *

Miki didn’t have time to grab a taxi so she just exerted herself and ran to the school in less than three minutes. That would be nearly impossible to run if it wasn’t for all her training. She didn’t even seem out of breathe as she practically appeared out of no where behind a bush and looked out into the schools court yard. It was about fifteen minutes past three o’clock by the time she got there and most students had already cleared out.

The brown haired girl sighed and walked out into the court yard not sincerely hoping that Ai was still there. It was a long shot so now Miki was just wasting her time so she didn’t feel the day was completely gone.

She had done her hair in a sort of fashion that would make her seem like a fourth year at the school so no one would kick her off. It’s not like she was even that much older than a student would be, so it wasn’t hard to blend in besides her attire which she still tried to make it seem like a teenager. However, it was a school and that would require a uniform and Miki would be shot dead if that was ever going to grace her body again.

Staring absent mindedly at the sky she didn’t notice until it was too late and she collided painfully into another student. Not having been paying attention Miki lost her balance and feel backwards onto the cement walk way. She rubbed the back of her head before hearing a girls voice apologizing and the shuffling of picking up papers.

Miki looked down at her right hand and there were a couple pages of sheet music that the girl had dropped. She picked them up and handed them in the direction of the voice and began to stand up.

“It’s not a pro…” Stopping mid-crouch Miki finally looked at the girl she had run into. “Ai?” she whispered under her breath.

It was in fact the girl she had been stalking for about two weeks now and whose destiny it was to die; but she didn’t know it yet. Ai looked up from gathering her papers and took the few sheets that Miki was holding out to her.

“Thank you,” she smiled gratefully and stood up completely, Miki copied this move.

There they stood, face to face. Only one of them knew how their destinies were supposed to intertwine, but it was never supposed to be like this.

“I’m sorry again,” Ai bowed but had to stand up quickly as her papers almost slipped from her grasp once again. She hadn’t quiet got a good grip on them yet.

Miki awkwardly laughed, “It’s alright. I wasn’t paying attention to where I was going. It was probably my fault anyways.” She felt a bit of sweat trickling down her forehead, it was hot but that wasn’t the reason. Talking to your target wasn’t exactly accepted. You could do it in situations like this, but everyone already knew she had been hesitating.

“So are you a student?” Ai suddenly asked.

Miki’s eyes grew wide, startled. “Uhmm yea, a transfer,” she replied slowly. After which regretting the answer, that was a stupid move. Maybe if she thinks of classes Ai would never have since she was two grades below she wouldn’t have to confuse Ai later as to why she was never around. Quickly she named off all required classes for fourth years, throwing in Advanced English third period.

“Really? English?” Ai’s eyes light up. “I’ll see you there then!” She laughed and glanced down at her watch before speeding off without even a goodbye.

She stopped at the entrance of the court yard and turned around to wave goodbye and then went around the corner and out of sight. Miki was left standing in the middle of the court yard dumb founded, “Why did she even talk to me?” She asked herself. But more importantly why did she respond that she had transferred to this school?

Miki began to walk slowly back to her hotel thinking the entire time. She wasn’t up for much spying today, besides if she did end up in the school she would be seeing a fair amount of Ai during the day to learn her weaknesses.

* * * * *

The next few days passed without many events happening. Miki decided to enroll at the end of the week. It wouldn’t hurt, was her justification. It could even be easier to watch Ai from this sort of closeness. Hopefully she wouldn’t get into much trouble.

Up until Friday Ai had acted the same. The Kamei and Michishigi girls were still all over each other and Risa was always beckoning for Ai’s attention. ‘She should just ask her out already,’ Miki continually thought.

But at the same time Ai was still always rushing home from school unless she had to talk to a teacher or had choir practice. Risa wouldn’t have a chance even if Ai did like her, she was too blinded by her life to see it.

Miki had started to feel sympathy for her target and that’s about the worst thing that could happen to an Interfector. Yossui had actually come to talk to her about it and that’s when she had to explain that she needed to enroll in the school. Yossui was reluctant to help her get in and get all the classes listed, but by Thursday Miki had convinced her that she had no caring feeling for Ai what-so-ever. Yossui had connections, so getting into the  school after that was easy as pie.

The uniform…was another battle all together.

“This is retarded,” Miki said examining herself in the mirror in the bathroom of the hotel.

“It can’t be that bad!” Yossui yelled from her position on the bed in the other room. “Come on out and let me have a look.”

Reluctantly, Miki walked out of the bathroom arms crossed over her chest and was giving Yossui her patent death glare. Too bad it didn’t actually work or her job would be exceedingly easier.

“I think you look cute,” Yossui laughed into her hands.

Miki scowled and looked down at the attire once again. It was a simple blue skirt with a white blouse. On top of the blouse was a lighter blue sleeveless sweater and a red tie was secured around her neck. To finish the outfit was high white socks and black nice shoes.

“I feel ridiculous,” Miki turned to the window where she could make out her reflection a little bit and examined the uniform once again.

Yossui walked up behind the school girl and placed her hands on Miki’s waist. “Well you put yourself in this position. Besides…” she leaned in to whisper into her ear. “I think it’s riling me up a little bit.”

I'm so glad that you updated. ^_^ I hope you can now that things seem better with you. They are right? I should probably read this fic again since it's been a while. I don't think this fic was bad at all. I think it's still interesting because Ai and Miki have met and it'll effect Miki's job won't it? Heyyyy wait a minute...is the pairing gonna be Ai/Miki? Such an odd pairing! I'm still curious to how this story will come along. So update as soon as you can ok? But take your time I know how hard writing it.

Wow, when I first read this story, I thought it was gonna be like that book 'On a Pale Horse' (or something like that) where this guy becomes the Grim Reaper and meets other people that embody other 'elements' and he's got this cool count down watch that points him in the direction of his targets and he even stops all death for the woman he loves. *deep breath* And his horse can turn into a car.

Good book.

But I'm very pleased to see the direction this story is going. Even if you might kill off Ai-chan. Maybe Miki will tell her she's going to die? That way she can get her affairs in order and it makes her do something that taints her soul or something. Or maybe she'll become an interfector too?

Now I gotta go read that book again.... Can't wait for the next update.

I was doing... things I shouldn't have been doing :/ Yea... and then the other thing was going through a break up where I'm still not sure what's going on haha. I dunno if anyone wants details you can message me but yea, I'm not super exciting XD
I did to! haha guess that's why I'm throwing so much in right now.

Chapter 13: The Park

After that Friday Yossui disappeared for a few days. Miki didn’t worry, it was very like her to just go off without a word. Besides, it’s not like she couldn’t take care of herself. Miki could recall a few times when Yossui had to save her because of little mistakes.

But then Sunday morning after watching Ai go out to ice cream with her little sister in the early morning Miki walked back to the hotel and the clerk there called her over.

“You are Fujimoto-san correct?”

Miki nodded her head and walked over to the counter. The clerk was a middle aged man with scruffy looking hair. He smiled at her before ducking behind the counter for a moment and pulling out a small note.

“A woman left this note in my possession for you.” He handed it across the counter and Miki took it with a smile.

She began to head towards the elevator. “Thank you,” she said over her shoulder before looking at the note.

The hand writing on the outside that said “Fujimoto” was very obviously that of Yossuis. She did like to try and be “smooth” by leaving letters and such. It was kind of her way of being mysterious.

The elevator dinged and Miki clamored inside ripping open the envelope as she went.

* * * * *

“Hey Miki!” Yossui yelled running up to her in the parking lot of a bowling alley. Miki turned around and looked at the boyishly dressed female as she approached. “You ready to play?” She laughed and started off towards the entrance of the establishment.

Miki rolled her eyes before following, “Why here of all places?”

“Because on Sunday they’re doing cyber bowl, only eleven dollars for three hours of unlimited bowling.” She answered quiet promptly without skipping a beat as she pushed open the double doors allowing Miki to enter before her like a real gentlemen.

Both strode up to the counter and paid their eleven dollars and the person working there tied a pink wristband on each of their wrists before handing them their requested sized bowling shoes. Miki cringed a little at the shoes, the one thing she really hated about bowling was wearing strangers shoes. You never know who could have been wearing them before you. It just wasn’t safe.

They walked over to alley number twelve and sat down. Miki began to change shoes, “so why are we suddenly going out to bowling?”

“Why are you really enrolling in that school with your target?” Yossui chimed back as she too sat down to change her shoes. Miki paused and glared up at the blonde. “You know that isn’t exactly the smartest move to make.”

“I can’t exactly stop now,” was the only response Miki made as she finished putting on her shoes and went to go pick out an appropriately weighed ball ending that conversation. She knew Yossui just randomly liked to do things like this but she decided to ask anyways in case it was special. It obviously wasn’t with a response like that.

* * * * *

About two and a half games in Miki was getting very tired of bowling. She wasn’t very good. Even though she did have the skills to fight and run fast, that didn’t make bowling much easier. Yossui had beat her in both games so far by… a lot to say the least. And currently she was already losing by about thirty points.

“Argh!” Miki yelled as she once again managed a gutter ball. Yossui laughed before stepping up and managing a spare on her own turn.

“You should just relax,” Yossui said patting the frustrated girl on the back. “Seriously, chill out it’s just a game.”

This infuriated Miki a little more and Yossui knew it so she took a quick step back.

* * * * *

They finished their fourth round of bowling before finally calling it quits. Miki hadn’t won a single time. Although she did get beat by less each time, so that was improvement. Didn’t stop Miki from being grumpy as they left the alley.

“So I guess I shouldn’t ask to sleep over,” Yossui smirked and ran a hand across Mikis behind which resulted in a very quick slap to the face along with a death glare. “I’ll take that as a no.”

Miki rolled her eyes and walked down the road towards her hotel, she was done with dealing with Yossui.

“Hey!” Yossui called catching up to her. “Don’t you want to just hang out a little bit?”

Miki turned to face her, she was not in the mood for this but nodded her head. It wouldn’t hurt.

Yossui lead them off to a nearby park and climbed a tree and sat down staring out towards the pond. Miki didn’t follow and instead just sat next to the same pond and stared at her reflection. That’s when it hit her as to exactly where they were.

Faintly Miki could see another reflection beside her, it was Aya. The three of them had spent many a times just hanging out in this park, training sometimes when it was too late for anyone else to be around.

She stared at the fake reflection of Aya with longing and before long a sad smile had spread across her face. She heard a slight thump behind her and then the reflection began to disappear and was replaced by Yossui as she walked up behind and sat down.

“What has you so mesmerized?” She asked staring into the pond trying to figure it out.

Miki’s face had turned into a frown, her eyes barley holding back her tears at this point. “Where’s Aya?” She asked completely monotone, void of all emotions.

Yossui didn’t move, turned completely stiff and took a couple of steps back before turning around and facing the other direction. Then very sternly replied, “Stop asking.” She began to walk away towards the darkness of the park.

“You know!” Miki yelled and it echoed across the pond. She stood up and faced Yossui. “He told you, I know it.” There was a hint of desperation in her voice as she spoke. “Please, I just need to know what happened.”

Yossui stopped in her tracks and stayed silent for a good minute just staring off into the night. “I know nothing,” was what she finally replied with.

She looked over her shoulder at Miki who now was about as vulnerable as Yossui had ever witnessed. Slow soft tears were falling down to the grass below and she stood hunched over.

Yossui didn’t move. Normally she would find some way to comfort her, but this time there was nothing she could do. All Miki wanted was the truth and Yossui could not offer that to her. All Miki wanted was Aya, and she was gone. There was no way to bring her back.

“Aya…” Miki finally spoke. “Aya was so kind.” She looked up and met Yossui eyes. “How could anyone treat her so badly?” The air turned to ice around the two and Yossui stood frozen in place. “She shouldn’t have even had the choice.” The tears had stopped and now Miki was standing transfixed staring at Yossui; eyes pleading for answers.

But still, Yossui could offer her nothing more than a sympathetic gaze before facing forward again and walking away. Leaving a numb brown haired girl alone in a park.

Man, i really wanna know what happened to Aya too. And thinking about what Miki said about Aya, why were they given the choice? Miki and Yossi and Koharu and Aya? Especially Koharu. I never really thought of Miki as full of hate, though it works on Yossi, and definitely not Koharu. Or is that line of questioning completely irrelevant?

Wait a sec, wasn't it said somewhere in a previous chapter that Aya was killed "in the line of duty" or something like that? Like I said before, most of the earlier details in this fic have slipped my mind, and to be honest, I really don't want to have to re-read the entire thing to get caught up.

If she's not dead, then where is she/what happened to her, and does Yossi actually know where Aya went/was sent to? :?
