I found motivation! Avoiding parents

Chapter six: Father
Mr. Takahashi looked at his daughter with concern in his eyes, “Of course. You can always talk to me about anything.” He smiled and set down what he was doing and walked over putting an arm around her. “Now, what’s the matter?”
“It’s about Aika.” Mr. Takahashi was silent as he stared down at the floor. He knew Ai would start asking questions at some point. “I know she isn’t my sister…but what…I mean…why does mom seem to hate her so much? It’s like she’s jealous or something…”
Mr. Takahashi went over to the door to the living room and looked in on Aika. She was pleasantly watching Television. He smiled softly as he walked back over to Ai, “let’s go talk about this in your room. Aika doesn’t need to know right now.”
Ai nodded and followed her dad to her room where he shut the door and they both set down on her bed.

“But, that’s not really a reason to hate Aika is it? Just because of your family?” Ai asked, appalled at the reason behind her mother’s hatred.
Her father shrugged a little, “I know it seems silly. But to her what they did before hand is unforgivable. She doesn’t see why we should help them even though it’s my family.” He looked down at the floor his eyes welling up a little. Ai had never seen her father in an emotional state, he had even staid just fine through their entire conversation but now… “It’s ironic by the fact that what she is doing now is…exactly what they said she would be like.”
Ai looked down at the floor. As much as she didn’t want this to become a reality, she felt too bad for Aika…it was wrong. “So, why don’t you divorce her?”
Mr. Takahashi sighed and looked over at Ais dresser where a family portrait of all four of them was. “Because as bad as she is currently acting…I still love her…I can’t explain it.”
Ai nodded and leaned her head on her father’s shoulder. “I’m sorry.” They didn’t speak for a moment and then she heard her father sigh heavily.
“It’s alright,” he gently stroked Ai’s hair before suddenly jumping up. “Dinner!”
“Huh?” but he had already run out of her room and into the kitchen. With the door open even Ai could smell the burning food. She got up and began to go help when she noticed her phone was still on. “What?” She picked it up and held it to her ear. “Hello?” No one answered and so she hung up. “Strange.”
“We might be ordering in tonight girls!” She then heard her father yell. Ai smiled to herself before going out to meet the smoke that was now filling up the kitchen and her father standing there laughing at his own foolishness. Ai couldn’t help but think that he was a pleasant and fine guy. She was lucky to have him as a father. Ai glanced over at Aika who was now also laughing.
They were both lucky…

“Don’t sleep the whole day away.”
Miki stirred slightly and peeked her eyes open a little to see Yossui standing over her dressed only in jeans and a sports bra. Miki groaned and pulled the covers up and over her head. “The sun is too bright.”
Yossui laughed and yanked the covers down off of her and onto the floor revealing her naked body. “What did you use up too much of your energy last night?”
“That was not my fault,” Miki exclaimed pointed at the culprit named Yoshizawa Hitomi. She reached down next to the bed and grabbed her towel from last night off of the floor and wrapped it around herself as she stood up. “You’re the one who basically attacked me as soon as I stepped out of the bathroom.”
The taller girl laughed again and walked up behind Miki placing her arms around her waist. “Yea, but you enjoyed yourself,” she whispered into her ear.
Miki rolled her eyes and pulled away from Yossui and headed towards the bathroom. “We also didn’t get to sleep until about three in the morning thanks to you. What the hell time is it anyways?”
“It’s just about ten.”
“See! Only seven hours of sleep.” Miki complained leaning against the door frame to the bathroom.
Yossui shrugged, “You have to look for your assignment.”
“I have two whole months.”
“So, that could mean it’s a hard person to find.”
Miki laughed, “You know perfectly well the time frame given to us never is based upon how easy or hard they are to find. I swear it’s all just very random.”
“True,” Yossui smirked as she looked Miki up and down.
Miki eyed Yossui suspiciously, “What?”
“I was just thinking…” she paused and walked up to Miki and gently caressed her cheek. “You look so much better without that towel.”

A good hour and fifteen minutes later Miki was finally all dressed and able to get away from Yossui to look for this Takahashi Ai girl. “It’s a wonder how that girl with all her own assignments still finds the time to come pester me.” She smiled to herself none the less…she really liked Yossui. They had a good relationship together…that was mainly just sleeping together. Though on a rare occasion Yossui could be quiet the romantic.
Miki shook her head to clear her thoughts, she needed to focus. Glancing down at her watch she flipped through the information on the girl one more time. It just had name and age and a description of her appearance. “This is no help,” on the last page though it had the route she took home from school. “Well, at least I have her address.”
She began to walk along the streets until she was about a block away when a girl ran past her, almost knocking her down in the process, mumbling something about being really late. Miki watched the girl run away, “she looks an awful lot like…”
She shrugged, she had two months. It was possible that was her so why not check it out. Miki broke into a run and chased after the girl being careful to not be noticed and thought of as stalking the poor girl, which was technically what she was doing.
A couple blocks later the girl finally slowed down and Miki noticed they were now in front of a Zoo.
“AI!” Miki whirled around looking for who had said that and saw another girl of waving to the persons she had been stalking for the past five blocks. She ran up to said girl, “You’re late like always.”
“I’m so sorry,” she bowed.
“Ai you’re going to be late to your own funeral.”
Had it really been that simple to find her new assignment?
