Woooah. Slow down. What is wrong with me not liking the movie? I've got my tastes, and if their not the same as yours, there's no need to start a fight.

It's because the reasons you give for not liking it don't exist, dear Zero_.

Wait wait.. I've disliked it for various reasons that don't exist? Hmm...

Come on guys. I didn't like the movie, I was expecting too much, and that's my problem. If you want to argue more, argue to the other people who share my views.

Well anyway, the only one that was worth keeping was the Dirge of Cerberus trailer..... so I decided to be a kewl dude and upload it--->

Okay, so I'm making one final attempt to play through Final Fantasy VII.

Can someone please explain to me what's supposed to be so great about this game?

Big swords.  Um...Sephiroth looks cool even though he's boring and has no real motivation other than he has an Oedipus complex?  And uh...Barret is a stereotype?

Really it stumps me too.

Not true. I loved them way back in the day on my SNES. Chrono Trigger is one of my favorite games ever. I liked Final Fantasy II, despite (or perhaps because of) its wacky translation. I'm just not feeling this one.

The greatest thing about FFVII is that Advent Children looked fucking bad ass XD That and I thought the soundtrack was awesome.

I liked FFVII, but not as much as the rest of the crazy FF fanboys. The story felt too linear. Every final fantasy after it was better imo, but fanboys can't stop orgasming over how big Cloud and Sephiroth's swords are, or crying over Aeris(though that part of the game was pretty damn fucked up)

I know a bunch of purists hated it and a lot loved it, but my favorite is FFXII, which I still can't play -___-

The only pre-VII FF I played was III, and that one was cool. I heard VI was really good but I haven't had a chance to play it :/

Don't know what it is about FFVII that makes it so treasured to die hard FF fanboys. For me it's simply because it was my first ever RPG at a time when I was getting into games more seriously. Had some cool characters, the story was interesting, the graphics were amazing (at the time), the music was brilliant (still is) and the gameplay was deep. Had everything I could want in a game.

My theory, is that a lot of emos see themselves in some of the characters (Cloud, Vincent, Sephiroth). But it doesn't explain why FFVIII wasn't just as well recieved :P

FFVIII was pretty much just a upgraded VII, with a few twists on the plot. I think one of the reasons people didn't like VIII was that it concentrated a lot between the romance of the two main characters. In VII the relationships never really got that far. It also didn't have a sephiroth character.

That, and I think the materia system worked a lot better than the junction system.

FFVII for me it the best RPG and Game EVER. It's my first RPG (I don't even know RPG stands for back then) and it's the first time I played a game for long hours. My experience of playing FFVII for the first time is unmatched until today and I doubt that any other game would duplicate that. I've played and beaten almost all FF's (except FF11) and I could say that FFVII is the best among them in terms of story, gameplay, sound (best OST of any FFs) and graphics (artistic and design wise). Here's my ranking for my favorite FF (in order):
FF7
FFX
FF8
FFX-2
FF9
FFTactics
FF6
FF4
FF3
FF5
FF2
FF1
I LOVE SAYUMI MICHISHIGE FOREVER!!!

FFX was my favorite simply because: incredible graphics, pretty good story, alot of voice acting so i didn't have to read all the time, i can go on and on. I couldn't help but get attached to the characters because of how realistic the game was when PS2 came out. Definitely my favorite Final Fantasy game.

Agreed.

And not to mention, The boss/monster levels,HP,stats were pretty much based off your character stats.  It's pretty much useless to level up.  During my first play of the game, It only took me 10-15 minutes to defeat all forms of Ultimecia because my all of my party were ranged around lvl 70 with so-so stats (and only squall had his final weapon. while everyone else had their second-to-last weapons).  Then my second play, all characters were at lvl 100, with max stats and final weapons - It took me nearly an two hours to get past the first two boss monsters in Ultimecia's castle. @___@  Then like an hour to defeat Ultimecia and all her stupid forms..

Lol.. This all reminds of when I first played it and couldn't find that stupid Tomb of the Lost King when you first enter Galbadia.. xD  I kept going towards the stupid plateaus near the prison..  ;D

FF VIII. Hehe. Made me remember that in my first playthrough (jap version) when it came out, I went into Ultimecia Castle then stopped playing.
I did my second playthrough (english version) last year to finish it off. LOL, so I was that close to finishing the game. ^o^
The same thing happened with FF10 and the ice-puzzle area. Why don't these guys use key cards!

For recent FF games. I was pretty let-down by FF9 and 12. For 9, the characters never grew on me. For 12, everything was good. But I kept waiting for that total world destruction, or death of party members, or at least a collapse in time/space. But the story ended, and I was still waiting.  :D
