Oh, it totally is a lot of eggs in one basket. I think Acchan leaving would be catastrophic for AKB48's public image. Takamina leaving would be catastrophic to the internal workings of AKB48. Both are different types of bad, but both quite bad. She has a lot of responsibility on her hands and it would not be an easy job for one person to inherit.

It made the announcement very special indeed when Takamina was given the chance to let all the fans know that AKB48 would be performing at Tokyo Dome in that video piece.

Takamina has lots of qualities including the ability to laugh at herself, or play along when she is being made fun of, which really endears her to her fans.

On April 1st, AKB48’s Takahashi Minami attended a talk show as the new image character for cosmetics brand, ‘Lancome‘. She will be featured in the May issue of beauty magazine, ‘MAQUIA‘.

During the event, Takahashi revealed that she had heard about Maeda Atsuko’s graduation almost a year ago. She exposed a behind-the-scene episode from the group’s recent Saitama Super Arena concert saying, “On the first day, she told me that she was thinking of announcing it. It didn’t really hit me at that time, but right before we got on stage, she told me ‘please assist me’, and gave me a handshake. That’s when I thought she was serious.”

Takahashi then showed her support for her fellow member saying, “It’s not something she decided on recently. It’s the result of what she’s been thinking about for a long time. So please support her.”

The talk show was held as a collaboration project between ‘Lancome’ and ‘MAQUIA’, and was held for women who purchased “MAQUIA×Lancome Limited Doll Eye Kit“. Takahashi shared that the members of AKB48 usually do their own make-up, and said that she uses Kojima Haruna as an example. “She’s the most picky, and I want to use her as a reference, but her face is different from mine… I quietly study her.”

Takahashi questioned herself if she was the right girl to be chosen as the image model. She smiled and said, “It’s right before my 21st birthday, so I will do my best to become a step closer to an elegant woman.”

I can't wait.....in a few hours it will be April 7, and everyone knows that is "Takamina no Tanjobi Eve" which means that on April 8, 1981, the Takahashi family welcomed Takamina into the world.................and on that date this year, she turns 21 years old!!!

Minami san, お誕生日おめでとうございます！！！

Wishing Minami a wonderful birthday in just over 26 hours.......

Most people accept that Maeda is the face of AKB and probably can't be replaced but the very heart and soul of AKB is Minami if she were ever to contemplate leaving it would probably finish AKB, how fitting that Maeda discussed her resignation for so long with Minami it was a long time for her to keep Maeda's secret, however the more I here snippets of how she has helped members especially the younger ones it makes me more and more worried what will happen if she ever decides to go, AKB can get a new face there are plenty of contenders but unfortunately I don't think they would survive if they had to have a heart transplant. My one abiding memory will always be when Minami went to Australia with some members of what are now Team 4 and the young girl found the blue Topaz worth a lot of money and she had it made into a ring, my thoughts were good for you but when she presented it to Minami at the BBQ along with heartfelt letters from the rest of the team it finally proved to me a very old sceptic how much Minami is loved by the members of AKB.

firebird56 san, I felt the same way when I watched that show....when she gave the prize blue Topaz ring to Takamina instead of keeping it as a memory for herself, it was more than a nice plot twist.....it was for real that she and the other youngin's luvs their Takamina
