Idoling!!! Fanclub 24th Birthday Event 2012.02.25So I got picked for the birthday event for Yurippe, Kaede and Manami, and for both parts nonetheless.
This was my first time so I didn't know what to expect, but I was aware that you get to take a group picture with them. Usually they hold events for 1-2 members, but due to how far away the birthdays are in Dec-Feb (and with Fonchi graduating) they made it a triple event.
To my surprise you got to sit wherever you wanted and since I got there earlier I managed to grab a good seat. I soon regretted my decision, though.
I'll get back to this later. Anyway, when you get in they give you an envelope and a nameplate with a letter on it which is the different groups for the picture afterwards. I had B for both sessions, so I guess they handed them out in order. For the envelope you had to write your name and address so they could send you the pictures.
For those that watch the live footage and the show I'm sure you've realized that Idoling!!! have a lot of
older fans. I consider myself in the younger generation, and apparently another fan thought the same and decided to sit beside me.
He didn't tell me that until halfway through, but we chatted a bit during the downtimes. It turns out he's a pretty new fan and just joined the fanclub after being to the Jukuhachi on Valentines Day. Pretty nice guy.
The event started as scheduled and the MC for the event was Umeko. I remember watching some uRa videos of past birthday events so I was looking forward to how she'd do. After that the members got onto the stage and presented their goals for this year, and after some introductory talk we arrived at the first segment which had the members answer questions from us fans. The segment after that was
Idoling!!! Bingo, which consisted of three 3x3 panels for Yurippe, Kaede and Manami. Each panel had Idoling!!! members on it and the birthday members had to guess their answers regarding the theme "What I like about Yurika/Kaede/Manami". The audience all got a piece of paper to guess who was going to win, and with no bias involved I wrote Kaede's name. lol. The winners would all get a special piece of chocolate, and in the end Kaede ended up being the winner. But, because Kaede is an angel from heaven she was like "Does this mean everyone who guessed it wrong don't get any chocolate?"...Well, in short, we all got chocolate.
Third segment was the long awaited handshake event! What's different about this event is the girls actually come to you, with a few exceptions because of lack of space between some of the seats. Yurika and Kaede walked around clockwise and you had to go up to them in order, while Manami went up to you personally which was a little embarrassing since most people, including myself, shook her hand while sitting. Not to mention everyone around you could hear you...
While the members were going around shaking hands and exchanging presents Umeko was on stage answering questions they didn't have enough time to do earlier. I had sent in about 6 questions and all of them got read. lol. After Umeko managed to pick one of my questions for the third time she let out a "Ayabie again! Who is this guy anyway?" so I had to raise my hand and plead guilty... lol
The handshaking took
a lot of time, so Umeko got to do whatever she wanted and chatted with all of us in a pretty casual way.
There's way too much for me to sum up right now, but we got to hear a lot of good stuff.
I'm terribly sorry, but I have to cut this report short for now since I still have the second session left and too little time.
