Late response, but holiday weekend == away from computer for most of the last several days.

It doesn't surprise me too much, ever since seeing Skye Sweetnam on that Nana tribute album.  They're probably just thinking it'll sell.  Avril's popular there, I can remember seeing her on Music Station and I think Hey!Hey!Hey! over the last couple years.  I'd assume she'll be singing in English.  I have some Japanese tribute albums for Green Day and Weezer, they're all in English.

Cool, I love hearing Sonim singing (and speaking) in english. By the way do you know when that tribute album is coming out?

She was only in recording it about a week ago.  What her blog said was: まだ発売日は確実に決定してないのですが、年内には出ると思います。 - "The release date has been decided for sure yet, but I think it'll be released sometime before the end of the year."  Harmony says the song she covered was "Anything But Ordinary".  Looking around a bit, the page of another artist on it says October.  List besides Sonim that I can find: misono, Yukki, 橘いずみ,  and 杏子.  Album title is "Avril Lavigne Master's Collection", label is For-Side.

Heh, is that really something new that she started?  Female popstars have been admitting to it for years, as far as I can remember.  I think Ami from Puffy wins the prize, she has several thousand volumes of them.  Looked like a library when she showed pictures of it.  In H!P Iida's been an admitted Yazawa Ai fangirl for years.

Sonim's post was cute, but I'd probably call her a geek for sitting around all night on the internet before I'd do it for reading manga ^^;

Well, it's still sort of uncommon to admit you like manga and/or anime, I believe. So most idols won't admit their geekness in public that often. That's like the cat  or dog preference that santos discusses a while ago, most female talents say they like dogs :O And I'd think spending [a lot of] time online is pretty common, after all most Japanese have those cool cellphones >_<

Well, anyway, Shoko could've not been the first, but she got her popularity *only* thanks to her blog, and she can draw well, so I'd still give her Queen of Geeks crown :D

Even using GetASFstream to save it instead of just view it it was a bitch to connect to -_-;  Took about a dozen disconnects and resumes to actually finish.

Always a good idea to try that program though, can get the latest version of CowScorpion usually.  http://cowscorpion.com/MultimediaTools/GetASFStream.html

I used HiNetRecorder to record the stream, and I also use Net Transport sometimes... I can up my copy if anyone wants it. Maybe the video was so popular the server killed foreign IPs >_>;

GetASFStream generally works best for me on Japanese sites since it's a Japanese program.  Has a lot of options for what protocols to try to use and what not.
