Nice one john! :D I don't want to affect your opinion of the game in anyway, but it's widely regarded by many, including myself, that ACII is a far superior game to the first. Play it and see what you think anyway, just know that if you like the idea, the sequels expand and improve in every way possible :D

i played it for a little while at a friend's house years ago. obviously i wasn't super impressed to where i had to run out and get it myself, but i was looking at my games collection and most of them are either shooters or driving games, and i figured i'd try AC - i like to try the games in order if possible

I bought Brotherhood a few months ago, but played it for the first time last night. I've never played an AC game before, so decided it was high time that I do so. I got Brotherhood because of the online play, though I doubt I'll play it much if at all for now. I still don't understand the perks of different close up weapons like the stiletto. I haven't really used it, but then I haven't found the need to, what with the hidden knife (such fun!) and sword. I can't wait to get more assassination missions though, because the ones I've done so far (however simple) have made me feel like such a badass XD On the downside, I'm being typical me and avoiding fights as much as possible. It doesn't help being a pacifist when playing a game like this.

This doesn't really matter, but just a question for all of you: when guards lose their will to fight and surrender, do you let them live or kill them?

It's only happened to me once so far, but I let the two guards live. I strongly considered killing them so I could loot their corpses, but then decided to just go on my merry way.

I absolutely play the game as a pacifist. If I'm on rooftops and see guards I either sneak or run right past them. I do not attack someone unless they attack me first and anyone who surrenders I let them escape. I feel more empowered that way. And in my mind, Ezio would only kill those who wanted to attack him first.

Reminds me of one of my absolutely favourite gaming moments for me. It's in AC2 and I had an Assassination side-mission to kill a target. I made my way there up via the rooftops and found him by a bridge chatting to 3 guards. I stalked him via the rooftops and fell to the ground, killing the main target and one of his guards. The other two got into combat mode and one attacked me, which I countered just as I drew my sword in time. Was prepared for the other one to strike, but he literally dropped his sword and ran away. It's the first time that ever happened to me, and a moment where I truly felt like a badass.

The Stiletto is the knife right? The small weapons like the knife are essentially another alternative for you to use in combat. I found it as my ideal weapon when going on the offensive rather than waiting for the counter kill like the sword. I found it quicker to use than both the sword and hidden blade and it becomes essential when you're fighting guards who are quicker and use knives themselves and against guards carrying spears/longaxes.

How you finding the story so far? Feel free to ask any questions here, I've played them all and can say that the story gets super weird

Good news if you're a PS3 owner and looking to buy Revelations, early copies of the game will have Assassin's Creed 1 on the disc, absolutely free.

^ I have no idea how you avoid guards that well. Last night I was trying to assassinate a l Borgia captain controlling a level 5 difficulty area, and (for some odd reason) the only way in was through the front door, so to speak. I went as far as I could on horseback, ran up a building and killed the 3 guards that came up after me. I was sneaky from then on out. I finally got to a pillar near the horse riding captain and was too far to assassinate, so just took out my crossbow to knock him off his horse, but then I misfired or something and hit a guard. Captain ran, every guard in the vicinity (there were a lot) came, knocked me off my perch with crossbows and then killed me on the ground.

It was my first time dying and I think it flipped a switch in me, because after that I literally went and killed every guard in that area while waiting for the captain to return. In the end, I crept out of a haystack, stalked behind him and assassinated him. Hidden blade just seems like the easiest way to kill captains, otherwise they either run or are pains in the ass to kill... until I kick them anyway.

Having the darker side brought out in me, I decided to test poison out in the city. I'd just run into a single guard as he was patrolling with a few others to provoke him. Then I'd run away a small distance to draw him away from the other guards and then poison him without anyone noticing. I actually felt like such a villain. I didn't hate it, either...

Question: Do we find out who saved Ezio when he passes out on the way to Rome at the beginning?

Seeing as this is my first game, I don't really know much, but I suspected (from the clothes) that it could have been Altair. Just a theory, easily disproved :P

I can immediately disprove your theory by saying that Altair lived and died during the Crusades so I doubt very much that it's him. XD I believe it was Machiavelli (who is a figure in the Assassins Brotherhood) or one of his men who found Ezio on the road and brought him back.

I'm surprised you're going for the Lvl 5 Borgia Towers so soon. I'd stick with the easier ones at the beginning, recruit a few assassins, build them up and it becomes easier to take those harder ones on.

I only just got assassin recruits last night because I was keeping myself busy capturing Bolgia controlled areas at first. I feel a little disappointed that there are only 3 areas left :P

Right now I'm doing a side mission in one of the Romulus hideouts. There's this guy dressed like a doctor, just with a different mask, who I have to catch, but I'm at a part where there's some golden trail in an area with people having a party or something and the trail ends abruptly at the edge of a 2nd level floor. I have no idea where he is :/

Just beat AC:Brotherhood and the DLC. I am going to miss Leonardo he always made me crack up. I am still a little show over the ending from Brotherhood. I also have a question about the multiplayer is it hard to learn?

^ Congrats! I never got around to the DLC. I'm just gonna move on for now, but maybe I'll play it eventually.

The concept of multiplayer was a little confusing for me at first, but I eventually understood it.

I consider Tuffty to be the multiplayer expert, so maybe he can explain it in detail.

Aw! That's nice of you to say mode (albeit it's untrue!) XD

Multiplayer is surprisingly one of Brotherhood's strongest features. It's unique and doesn't play like anything else out there and for that reason alone I would strongly suggest you go and at least give it a try. Give it time so you can learn the mechanics and how the rules work cause like I said there is a definite learning curve. If you take it's most basic game mode, Hunter, is works pretty much like a free for all. At the beginning you choose from one of a handful of characters (e.g. The Doctor, The Courtesan, The Priest etc) and the map is then populated with these character models. But you can't kill just anyone because you can't say for sure who is human and who's an NPC. The way this mode works, is that you are given the name of a player you must hunt down and kill. But you're not rated on how many kills you can get, but on how you get those kills based on a point scoring system.

For example, you can find your target, run up to him in high profile and kill him, but that can only land you 50 points. However, if you were to blend in the crowd, approach him silently and kill him without even realising you were there, well that could be 200 points for doing that, plus they give out bonus points for killing a player from a hidden area or from say the rooftops. But remember, as you're tracking down your target, another player is also tracking you down too, so if you start running about, your killer will be able to pick you out straight away and you can be an easy kill for them. The better you do, the more players you can have tracking you down too. You can have the briefest opportunity to stun them but best bet is to just run away.

So given all that, without even including equipment/abilities you can use like a hidden gun, poison or be able to disguise yourself completely and you can have a nicely intense match of cat n mouse, with players jumping up and down the scoreboard. It's really hard to describe but hopefully you get an idea of what to expect. I will say that doing experiences like swooping down on an unknowing target from the rooftops, or throwing a smoke bomb down to stun your pursurer as you run away from them is incredibly satisfying. The biggest gripe I had with it is just matchmaking, sometimes it won't work at all or takes so long to do. Plus it seems that it screws over anyone who doesn't have the DLC, but that shouldn't be a problem for you. Here's a vid of a standard match if you want an idea of what it's like:

Forgot to realise that the PS3 has a Revelations multiplayer beta for a time. Here's a match from the new 'Deathmatch' mode, which shows off a number of (welcome) changes

I'm gonna see if I can get into a Brotherhood match now. Hopefully it'll work this time, otherwise it'll confirm that the DLC has jacked multiplayer for those who don't have it.

I actually never finished the first game. Should get back into it. Never did get past that stage when you get surrounded by enemies near the end. >.>; Nowhere to hide...

Know what you mean, I remember that part being quite challenging.

In a surprise announcement, Ezio will be a playable character in Soul Calibur V!

They've revealed that one of the new features in Revelations is that while something similar to the Borgia towers will be in this game, this time they may be taken back again by the Templars. That's where this new tower defense gameplay mechanic comes into play

Could be a nice change of pace. Saw a TV spot this evening for the game too. The ending really shocked me, I hope that's not how Ezio goes out :(

^ I will never get tired of that song. It's too epic. Fits the story of Assassin's Creed well. Unlike Mass Effect. :P

As for his appearance is Soul Calibur; Nice! Not that it matters, but the timeline for SC and Assassin's falls in place.

Played it a little, just up till the tower defense mini-game.

I don't like the new changes that much. Like ziplining... doing 3-4 quick button presses (hold free-run, jump, hook, kill) at the same time.
For the tower defence, I didn't even know half an area was behind me till the ram started going down there crashing the base.
Maybe I'll like 'em more after getting used to them.

But it's been like one big tutorial stuck down my throat so far. Hope it goes to free-roaming, mini-questing soon.

^ Tower/den defense was definitely the newest feature that I hated the most. I had three attacks going on at once, and I felt that they were too much of a hassle.

I coped well with the other new features.
