And here is the second part...
Chapter 13 (Part 2)Mind wandering miles away, Eri frowned as she thought of ways to appease the girl she is meeting soon. It wasn’t until a tap on her arm that brought her out of her dazeness that she realised that one of the counter was free. A quick apology to the girl standing behind her, she walked towards the counter and watched the cashier rang her purchases.
‘This should be enough to make Sayu happy,’ she thought as she walked out of the convenience store and down the pavement. A firm grip pulled Eri back, jolting her back into reality as she struggled to regain her footing.
“That was dangerous.” Eri turned at the voice and saw the same girl who was queuing behind her at the store.
“Eh?” Eri looked at the girl questioningly, before realising that she had spaced out again and almost walked into the moving traffic. If not for the said girl, Eri was sure to have become a human pancake right then.
Still shaking, Eri allowed herself to be guided by the girl across the road. Small talks lead to conversations which in turn lead to comfortable acquaintances. By strange coincidence, Eri learnt that the girl stayed next to Sayu’s and owned that Chinese restaurant. They chattered away easily enough and before they knew it, they reached their destination, bidding each other farewell, with Eri promising to visit the girl’s restaurant soon.
“Oh wait, I still haven’t got your name.”
“Li Chun, but you can call me JunJun.’

Kamei Eri stood, a thousand options going through her mind. She had spent the last twenty minutes explaining what happened that night. Despite her best effort to clear the misunderstanding, the wooden door refused to open. Eri contemplated using her Eriens powers instead, unable to decide between
‘Open Sesame’ and
‘Abracadabra’.
Eri knew she was not talking to the door per se, as she did hear some rustling from the other side, which means Sayu locked herself up in the room when Eri came. Since Sayu hadn’t said one word to her, Eri figured Sayu was still mad at her.
“Michishige Sayumi, you open the door this instant!”
Both hands on her hips, her assertive voice directed towards the stubborn bunny. Never mind that Sayu could not see her seldom-seen strong posture or that there was a hint of desperation in the voice. Assertive or not, the door remained defiantly closed.
“Come on Sayu, open the door,” Eri pleaded, “Please?”
She pressed her ear to the door, trying to pick up any further sound from the room. However, that wasn’t a good move as she almost fell sideways when the door suddenly opened in on her. It was fortunate though that Sayu was quick enough to catch her before she does hit the floor.
Eri relished being in her best friend’s arms, for it felt familiarly comfortable. Her eyes grew heavy and she would have been on her way to dreamland if not for an
‘ahem’ from the bunny. Eri sprung to stand straight, remembering her mission for the day.
“Why didn’t you tell me you’re living with Reina?” Sayu withdrew her arms, proceeding to cross them instead.
“I’m sorry Sayu. I wanted to. Honestly! Initially Reina didn’t want to start any misunderstanding and somehow things just turn out this way.”
“That doesn’t change the fact that you weren’t honest with me. Me! Your best friend!”
The words brought Eri guilt like no other. Close to tears, she sniffed, “I know, I’ve come to apologise and...”
“Urgh stop~” Sayu pulled Eri into their second hug for the day. “Otherwise I’m gonna start crying too.”
“I’m really sorry Sayu. I promise I’ll be more honest to you. Really!”
“Oh I can never stay angry with you.” Sayu pinched Eri’s cheeks, “Is there any other things that I should know of?”
“Actually, there is one more thing. It’s Mummy…”

The slight whiff of cold air, if only for a few seconds as the door opened and closed, serves a gentle reminder that it is a cold winter day in the otherwise warm restaurant. The newcomer easily made her way to the kitchen, greeting the old couple when she did, before sprinting up to the second floor.
“Sayu? I received your message. What’s so urgent? Did anything happen? Are you hurt?”
Risa proceeded to check Sayu for any unseen injuries the bunny might have, her motherly instinct anxiously taking over her the moment she received a text message from Sayu. Granted, the text was also exaggerating as Sayu insisted Risa come over her house immediately.
“Ah Risa, this is bad. This is like…level 5 emergency!”
Laughter could be heard from a corner of the room where Eri lazed on the bed. “Sorry, couldn’t help myself. You two were too funny.”
“Eririn~ how could you even laugh? Don’t you know how serious this is?” Sayu pouted.
“Oh stop overreacting Sayu. That’s Risa’s job,” Eri chuckled.
Protesting loudly at that, Risa discarded her coat and made herself comfortable by the side of the bed, confused with the conversation between the two best friends. She listened attentively as Eri recapped her conversation with her mother, with a few
'hmms' and
'ohs' in-between.
“So you’re going to New York? To live with Auntie?” Risa asked.
“I haven’t decided yet. She’s remarrying soon and she wants us to live as a family. Plus she felt that an overseas education might give me more exposure,” Eri sighed, a depressing thought came to her mind…
‘Besides there’s no reason for me to stay’Sayu whined, “But Eririn, can’t you talk to Mummy? I’m sure she’ll understand.”
Risa watched in amusement at playful teasing that followed between the best friends, though disconcerted by the unsettling feelings delicately floating in the air, as if daring anyone to touch them.
“Risa, are you listening?” A hand was waving in front of her face, Risa realised, and she swatted the bunny’s hand away.
“Of course I was.”
“Great! Then it’s settled then. Eri’s birthday celebration cum Christmas party on the 23rd.”
“And I know just the place.”

A tad shorter than normal but since it's a part 2 and only on Eri...it's okay right?
