Right now, I'm "demoing" *coughcough* Assassin's Creed 3.  It runs nicely on my "budget enthusiast" computer at max settings (with a few minor hiccups here and there).  Probably during Christmas, I'll grab it off Steam (if I remember to buy Steam Wallet cards since I still use cash).

Got my WiiU yesterday...I pretty much expected to just have it hold down some paper for a while, at least until Wonderful 101/Bayonetta/Zelda come out...but I'm actually enjoying it more than I expected. My expectations were so low I ended up impressed

A lot of the stuff they did is just really smart, subtle little things you wouldn't expect to have much of an impact. Controlling the TV with the gamepad lets you switch inputs (from Cable to WiiU, for example) and switch freely from playing on the TV to playing on the gamepad...you don't really have a grasp on how handy that is until you do it that first time. The social stuff they added is also really nice, along with the ways they implement the gamepad + TV thing in all the apps (youtube, netflix, browser, etc). The functionality is really slick, and I would imagine companies like MS and Sony are going to follow suit one way or the other (MS already announced XBOX branded surface tablets, so, one can only imagine...)

Overall though I really do like it, much more than I expected to, for whatever that's worth XD

With the WiiU coming out I was hoping I could pick up an old style Wii for cheap. When the Gamecube had to make way for the Wii they were selling them for crazy low prices so I was hoping the same would happen with the Wii... but it didn't. The few they have left are still quite expensive and there aren't any worthwhile packs out atm either (I don't want Mario Kart with a damn steering wheel!). Maybe it's too soon, maybe after Xmas...

There might be a price drop in December if the rumours of a new Wii Mini are true: http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/rumor/32595

I got Play Station All-Stars Battle Royale and, I have to say, it's a pretty solid game. It doesn't have anything to really tell you how to bring up the game options when you're making a match, the story had might as well be non-existent (although the little rivalry between PaRappa the Rapper and Spike from Ape Escape is pretty amusing) and the lack of a health meter is a bit disconcerting. That said, you figure out how to access game options with the slightest of button testing, (it's L2 on the set-up screen) if you bought a game inspired by the Super Smash Bros series expecting a great storyline, you were always kidding yourself, and you get used to there not being a health meter. At first, I wished there was health, but now I've gotten used to it and can appreciate the tactical difference that super abilities bring to the game.

To be completely honest though, it's just downright fun.

EDIT: I just tried Dante (DMC) out and he's pretty damn awesome to play. It's a shame that they went with the new look Dante (brown hair) but his attacks just feel so fluid; it was like playing Bayonetta again (which I seem to recall Tuffty said played very similarly to DMC). I'm definitely going to experiment more with Dante and see if he'll become one of my regulars.

Well Bayonetta was made by Hideki Kamiya who was the original creator of Devil May Cry, so the similarities are definately there. But in terms of combat, Bayonetta is just the best in it's genre. Better than the first DMC, better than DMC3 (widely regarded as the best) and leaps and bounds ahead of this reboot. You should definately try it Deft. After all, sexy witch summons dragons with her hair and gets naked whilst doing it. Can't get much better than that.

And I just can't stand this new rebooted Dante. He's that guy that clicks dislike on a kitten video on Youtube before telling the creator to go kill himself. Even if this was an entirely new series I'd find it hard to get past how annoying he is.

Fuck me and fuck these goddamn sales. Got a couple of games from Steam/Amazon/GMG/wherever:

--

Civilization 5 + Gods and Kings + all DLC
Fallout 3 GOTY
Grand Theft Auto San Andreas
Grand Theft Auto 4 + Liberty City
Hotline Miami
L.A. Noire
Mark of the Ninja
Saints Row: The Third Full Package
Sleeping Dogs
The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim
The Walking Dead
Witcher 2 Enhanced Edition

--

...during a fucking five day span. XD

Hah man, left like nothing for the Holiday sales. Well, at least it was all dirt cheap and all good shit that I'll be playing for ages.

^ Some quality games in there. I think you'll dig Mark of the Ninja, Saints Row, Walking Dead and Witcher 2 a lot.

On a related note, I wish they would hurry up and release the disc edition of The Walking Dead game over here in the EU. I need to play it.

Also, Lara Croft doesn't swim in the new Tomb Raider game. A Tomb Raider game, where you can't swim....say what? And this has to be the worst excuse why there isn't any sections like that in the game, from a developer:

Quote
Just to be clear Lara hasn't FORGOTTEN how to swim! We just made the decision NOT to have her swim in this @tombraider.

That's just...odd. It's like saying, "Link can roll, but he won't in the next Zelda" or "Ezio can climb a lot of tall buildings but he's pretty tired, so we'll give him a break in this game." Considering the torture porn/hit A to escape attempted rape sections of the game as well..this new TR is now something I'm looking to avoid.

Tuffty why haven't you gotten Halo 4?  I thought you'd have added it to your collection.

No matter how many times I play Fallout 3 I always forget to save SOMETHING during my early travels...

remembered that pre-war books and scrap metal were significant to save but I always forget that the Outcasts want sensor modules also.

Also, I'm this close to just killing three dog to take his gear because I haven't been able to loot a higher DR helmet to make the reverse pickpocket trick work. God forbid I get his morbid technician for the rest of the game..

sig not by Stryfe... but I don't have the heart to remove the shout-out

^ Better look in the rear view mirror some more, I'm catching up on you and beating your lap times and speed traps!

Tuffty why haven't you gotten Halo 4?  I thought you'd have added it to your collection.

It sounds cool, I liked Halo 2 & 3, but I've never been big into Halo. A great story? Not from the games I've played, and certainly not one I'm required to read all the extended fiction if I want to understand it. May pick it up when it drops in price, I dunno.

I've decided that I wanna get Persona 4.  Not sure why I've let that game fly under my radar for all these years. I can't stop watching walkthroughs. It seems like my kind of game.

Hearing that there are more people here about to play Persona 4 makes me happy that more people will experience Persona 4 for the first time and jealous that people will experience Persona 4 for the first time. Enjoy!

Any Far Cry 3 fans here? Been playing it for about 10 hours now and it just keep sucking me to explore more and more of the relics and destroy outposts. The story is pretty awesome as well.
