got a few more sets of fps freeks in today - got the cqc signatures, standard cqc, and a set of the original freeks in pink (I think it was a limited edition for valentines or something)...now that I've gotten so used to them, it feels weird using a controller that doesn't have them

Haven't played The Walking Dead for a week, but 3 times I've been having dreams about zombies. Last night I dreamed about being a zombie-filled prison with a bunch of survivors with me. I think I saw Kenny, Ben, and Carley (or was it Lilly) there as well.  :huhuh

Either I need a longer break before I can go on to Episode 4, or I need to finish Season 1 this weekend.

Hey. I think I found a pic of the new PS4. No wonder they didn't show it at the event.

Seriously. Not really excited from the PS event though.
Deep Down looks nice, Driveclub looks nice, and happy to hear of another Infamous and Killzone. But nothing that really wowed.

Sleeping Dogs still looks really interesting.

So what does everyone think then? Who's excited for PS4?

For me I thought it was an interesting reveal. Not so fussed on the games they've shown, they're still early in development and need to know more about them. I hope the bigger RAM allows more potential to be had from games and not always just more of the same but prettier (though that can be ok too). I was more excited about the possibilities of the hardware. Putting your console into a suspend state so you can leave, come back and pick up from where you left off? It's impressive. The Share functionality and the cloud computing stuff is cool too, assuming it all goes smoothly, which I know it won't. But broadcasting your gameplay out to the net? Taking control of another player's game so you can complete a difficult section for them? That's really technically impressive.

There are some doubts of course. I don't have a PS3 you see and was thinking of buying one until I heard of this announcement. I was hoping this would have backwards compatibility but sadly that's not the case. I'm in a situation now where I don't know what to do because there are a lot of PS3 exclusives I want to play but I might not be able to. Who can say if they will have Demons Souls or Yakuza 4 available for streaming? How can you guarantee it will all run smoothly and there's no input lag or performance issue? You can't really. So I don't know what to do. (Btw, the PS3 exclusives I'd want to play are Demons Souls, Uncharted 1-3, MGS4, Journey, Yakuza 4, Tokyo Jungle.) Also, did you see the specs of a unit? Unless they scale it back some, there's no way it'll come cheap.

But overall, a very appealing announcement that gave me just enough to get excited. You can imagine they didn't show the actual console, price or release date so they can leave something for E3, most likely to contend with Microsoft. The balls in their court now and I think everyone will be interested to see what they will do to compete. Knowing Sony though, those of us in Europe won't see it til 2014 anyway!

I'm certainly not put off. I really like the Vita integration (I already own a Vita...), and not needing to be online is a bonus too. None of the titles announced yet really excite me though, so I'll probably wait till the library develops a bit more (and the price comes down).

I just had to get a PS3 last Christmas.

I think I can wait a few years until I feel the need to want a PS4 and hope that I don't pay too much to "repurchase" some games that I've already own. Sad though that GTA V and The Last of Us are delayed.  :(

It defiantly seemed like a pretty subdued presentation for announcing a console. But I liked what I heard. I'm glad it won't block used/rented games. If the rumors are true and that's what Microsoft are doing then I will most definitely get PS4 before Xbox even if it costs more up front.

Killzone looked pretty great, although I'm not really into that series. I'm more interested to see what MGS5, Last Guardian (if it is now a PS4 game) and God of War games will look like on it. Also Capcom's game looked interesting (Deep Down? Dragon's Dogma?) Controller looked derpy but I guess the final design could change some.

Also, did you see the specs of a unit? Unless they scale it back some, there's no way it'll come cheap.

It won't be nearly as expensive to make as PS3 was. The cheapest blue-ray players were like $1000 when PS3 launched. The main thing that will be expensive is the 8gb of GDDR5, but memory goes down in price pretty quick. The US $400 launch price sweet spot seems feasible. $500 for a premium model with a 1 year Gaikai subscription.

Deep Down on the Panty Raid engine  Considering Capcom said they're making Dragon's Dogma 2 you can only assume this is it. But while I don't think that footage was actual gameplay, I do think it was rendered in real time. Looks good!

It's exactly the same for me. There are some games for Ps3 that I want to play and I wanted to buy one this year, but now I'm uncertain if I should wait for the Ps4 instead. My internet connection isn't the best and for now the announced games don't really interest me, maybe that will change at E3. Guess we'll have to wait for more details.

^ Haven't heard anything about it :(

I fucking love Platinum Games, the first 15 mins of Metal Gear Rising offers more excitement and visual spectacle than most other games can't.

Speaking of Metal Gear, Kojima reckons the next one will cover themes that are too 'risky' and that it might not sell as a result. Based on what I've seen from the Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain footage, I reckon the next game will tackle issues of slavery, human trafficking and finally army camps where children are turned into dead eyed soldiers for the local guerilla forces to fight (remember those kids locked away in the cages in the Ground Zeroes trailer).

Keep in mind that Big Boss was extremely guilty of the latter two when he went "mad", so there's a good chance this will be the game where we see his "downfall" into insanity. Which would explain that crazy dream-like trailer where he's in a hospital. Kojima's obviously going to be making a darker, more psychological Metal Gear. Which could be very awesome. But either way, it's good to hear Kojima say these things as it means his creative juices are flowing.

And people say Rising isn't a Metal Gear game...

Currently playing Crysis 3 for PC. Add me on Origin if you want to multiplayer :) Name is still "forthisgift."

Btw, the game looks BEAUTIFUL. It's ridiculous. I just stop and look around sometimes.

^ Me too! Though I'm playing it on 360. It is the first Crysis game I've played and so the story is pretty much eh whatever to me, but the actual gameplay is rock solid. I put it on the second to highest difficulty cause I heard the single player is quite short and so I'm sneaking around a lot, trying to get through as stealthy as possible. The multiplayer is pretty sweet too, it's deep, lots of options, maps and game types and with a ton of options in combat. Always fun to run around a map with a shotgun like a madman. One of the best game modes is Hunter, which is essentially Predator - The Game, as one player is permanently invisible and uses a one hit kill bow while the rest of the players are soldiers who have to survive as long as possible. It creates some tense and exciting moments. I think part of the reason I'm enjoying it so much is down to the fact that this is the only FPS I've played in a little over a year now, the last being Modern Warfare 3. Last year I didn't play any of the popular FPS like Black Ops 2, Halo 4, Borderlands 2, Far Cry 3 etc so to actually play one again is good. If anyone has played any of the aforementioned games extensively or played through them all then I can see why they would be burned out to play another FPS now so it's understandable.

But yeh, a real surprise, I wasn't expecting to play this, but now that I have it, I like it a lot and can see myself playing it and the multiplayer for a long time. It all looks great too, even on 360 (though PC is absolutely the platform to play it on based off the footage I've seen). That is one good looking game. Also has one of the best ads for a game I've seen in a long time.
