I've been a WWE/WWF fan since.. God, 1983. Followed NWA and AWA through the pages of PWI mostly, with other mags thrown in.. Followed ECW as much as I could on TV.. I've kinda lost touch over the past year or so. I catch the occasional show, but not nearly as religiously as I used to.. Maybe this thread will help me get back into at least Raw/Smackdown/ECW/TNA..

I do have a question for the group though. For anyone who follows any of the Japanese promotions. I'd love to start following one. I'm sure there's at least one weekly TV show, right? But, here's my thing. While I love a good match, I also enjoy the storylines. Are there good sites out there that:

1. Offer a consistent weekly download where I could watch a puroresu show weekly.

2. Offer some sort of storyline translation/fansub, to the point where I could start learning the history along with enjoying some matches.

Are others interested in this as well, or is it just me? ^_^

Survivor Series was a bit of a let-down for me.

I had very high hopes for the DX/Team X-treme/CM Punk vs. Rated RKO/Nitro/Helmes/Knox match, but that was a glorified squash.  I jumped out of my chair when Knox was eliminated in 5 seconds, but the match was way too one-sided.

On Raw, Team X-Treme vs. Rated RKO was very very nice.  I love how they hyped up the early history of the Hardies throughout the show, especially those videos of them as kids.  And I loved how Edge was putting down Matt in front of Jeff.  Lots of that tension is legit.

Regarding Puroresu, PWTorrents.net has most big events, but doesn't always contain every week's worth of TV.  For example, they had NOAH's Autumn Navigation, Shining Navigation, Winter Navitagation, and Northern Navigation, but only recently was Noah's weekly SEM show upped.  NJPW's english-langage Eurosport show is upped fairly rarely.  That being said, a lot of the great matches of puroresu history have been upped.

Agreed, Roddy Piper is gonna beat this disease!! cuz Cancer is a bitch :(

RAW was fun, Ric Flair and his cracked dome being dragged around. They painted him ahead of time huh?

Finally I saw some ECW Fridays on Global, some pretty good matches. Wondered where Test went.

This year survivor series was decent, and batista vs king booker was anti climax,as if you can watch the match on weekly smackdown show, nothing special...all of the matches are too short(under 15 minutes) to consider ppv quality.
Team DX vs Team rated RKO was so one sided and after all this time Ive been looking forward to a great match,DX destroy all tag team division on raw.
Hardyz vs edge/orton was match of the night yesterday.

Nah, he would have just taken a razor and cut himself somewhere on his forehead around where his hairline is. That's what they do when wrestlers are supposed to get "busted open".

JPH!P 's kuro808, Fushigidane, ChrNo, Jab & marimari. Always.

i almost forgot to post here i talked to kuno*underscore*thunder about it.
ECW payperview was the worst payperview in payperview history! lol seriously
you're going to have to check it out. um.. hardyboys match was pretty good, vs mnm. everything else sucked seriously it was total crap except for those on or two spots where c m punk was *in my opinion* "killing" rvd.. I actually sat through the whole show.. expecting something good to happen i thought maybe it was going to be like the New Years Revolution where all the matches sucked, and the elemination chamber was going to be a nice 1 1/2 hour show. but nope.. Paul heyman did a long boring promo basically saying he created ECW.. then all 5 wrestlers spent like atotal  of 35 minutes on entrances combined. and the thing ended at 9:15 CST like 45 mins way too early but i guess they were doing us a favor buy ending it early. for those who actually payed good money to watch it.
and if you payed like 40 bucks and ordered this i' know you're pissed HAHAHA.

Edit
in response to daigong's message. WWE's ECW isn't as bad as their RAW or smackdown. that was crap to the extreme! can't believe i thought that was going to be half as good as one night stand.. boy was i wrong o_O

I read throughout the net about ecw ppv and pretty much receive negative reviews,at least the hardyz vs mnm & extreme elimination chamber was over 20 minutes, other than that the show end early.

edit:
Read the result reviews and man, sounds like the worst ppv this year, after that paul heyman quit.
CM punk was rub by triple h last week, and Punk was over with fans in Philly than triple h yet his the first one been eliminated by RVD.

Good news is SEM(Noah offshoot) will end this year with a bang with 3 great single match.
Go Shiozaki vs Noamichi Marufuji - hopefully Shiozaki can hang in there for over 15 minutes.
KENTA vs Morishima - expect stiff exchange between these two! i wish they could build a feud between these two.
Bonus match GHC Jr title:Takashi Suguira(C) vs Tatsuhito Takaiwa - a rematch from January 2005 when Takaiwa fail to capture the title, can he do it this time.

So I guess you all know by now heyman's fired (released), and big shows retired from WWE. or maybe not since noody watching ECW. So, i'm waiting on his upcoming shoot interview, to see what he has to say since he's officially is not a part of the company and doesn't have to sugar coat his words too much. strange though, he's never been fired before. well isnt fun checking out stuff from one company.

oh yeah and if i posted this before then repost: http://www.robvandam.com one of my fav wrestlers wrote something pretty funny check out the last liine.

And i didn't really notice much going on in TNA really, but there is this huge main event with all the top stars with no rules etc. but you can watch that on tv..  for something more interesting.-->Message to John Cena edit: not really @ john cena, but you'll see what i mean ;)

The MNM vs. Hardyz match saved the ECW PPV, although it went downhill from there.  The sad thing is that neither MNM or the Hardyz have any affiliation to ECW whatsoever.

The new ECW has been a near total waste, IMO.  CM Punk was brought in, got super over with the fans, but hasn't feuded with anybody other than that spazz Mike Knoxx.  WTF?!?  The goth/vampire guy shows some potential, but he hasn't been built up enough.  Other than that, ECW has "built" rejects like Test and that tall Indian guy, who aren't even OVW caliber.

The ECW I remembered from the 90's 3 things that made it special:

1) It was a showcase for solid wrestling matches, the likes of which we weren't seeing in WCW and WWF, and we wouldn't see in WWE until the early 2000's.  Since Angle left, who the heck watches ECW for quality matches any more?

2) It invested in building solid new talent, like Benoit, Eddy, Rey, etc.  Those guys weren't rejects from some other fed - they were solid talent that needed a push to make it to the top.  Who has the new ECW built?  Test?!?  Knoxx?!?  VampBoy?!?

3) It had shocking garbage wrestling.  Super Crazy moonsaulting off the bleachers.  RVD jumping into the crowd.  Barbed wire and Mass Transit.  This aspect has now been fully merged into WWE mainstream, and the only garbage remnants that we see in the new ECW are sad things like Sandman busting his own head open week after week.

Let's face it: ECW is dead.  What we see today is just sad.  If you want 1) and 2), watch ROH and maybe TNA.  If you want 3) watch mainstream WWE.

BTW, have you noticed that suddenly Raw is interesting again?  They're building up Kenny, pushing Nitro like mad, making Cena funny again, and have reformed the World's Greatest Tag Team!!!!

Frankly, I think that Benajamin stands alone strongly as a singles wrestler, and this tag team is only there to give a push to Hass, who has been struggling in his angle with Viscera (as anybody would).  Hass can also be a main eventer if he's pushed right.  But he needs good competition and serious exposure.  The WGTT is a good way to do that.  If only they reused the old Angle "You Suck!" music....

Also, did anybody notice the impending breakup of the London/Kendrick tag-team.  That's a damn shame.  I had hoped they would last another year together.  But both of them are so over now that they just might warrant a run as singles wrestlers.

^ Testify, brother!

Well put, Chera. We were all so excited when they brought back ECW with Heyman ostensibly in charge. Unfortunately, it became clear very quickly that the "new ECW" was an embarassing insult to the memory of a once-great company.

With Heyman a free agent again, maybe he'll have gotten enough of a taste of what could be that he'll get involved with another promotion...but would TNA be a good fit? I'm not sure.

Glad to hear Raw's getting interesting again. I have to admit I've been largely ignoring WWE programming lately except for PPVs (and even those haven't been rocking my socks off). I've been waiting for SOMETHING to inspire me to start watching again.

Haven't been ignoring wrestling, though -- just WWE. Finally saw my first Shimmer DVD last week. Good stuff. Closest I've ever seen an American promotion get to the great women's wrestling that comes out of Japan.

What style are they - 80's AJW, 90's AJW, LLPW, GAEA, ...?

Although I appreciate the great atheleticism of female wrestlers, I cringe whenever I see the more violents 90's AJW fights.  Those girls took way too much punishment!  I get thrilled when to seeing guys elbowed in the jaw, kicked in the head, or suplexed onto their skulls, but when I see the same thing happening to women, I feel like a misogynist, guilty.  Maybe I'm just a chauvinist....
