For me, the entire event was a massive disappointment. One of the main turn-offs for me was how they spread the "big ticket" matches throughout the whole show instead of building up to them and having them all just in the 2nd half. While I understood that they probably did it to try and start off with big energy, and then maintain it throughout the show, instead of starting off with a bunch of "blah" matches, it really did not work out as well as I felt it could/should have. I mean, who was the moron who's idea it was to follow the HHH/'Taker match with the Snookie one? The planning/order of the matches was poorly done, plain and simple.
My match commentary -
Shaemus VS Bryan - they made this a fuckin' dark match! After the promo they had given the match on SD, we never even got to see the damn thing. ><
Edge VS Del Rio - not bad, though a little short. The way Edge got that spear all of a sudden gave me a "what, done already?" feeling. But then again, considering they were the first televised match of the show, it's understandable that they were probably told to not go too spectacular so that they didn't risk setting things too high for the later big matches.
Rhodes VS Mysterio - yeah, cannot say that it was obvious that the leg brace was going to be used as a weapon once Rhodes took it off of Rey.
Kane/Big Show/Santino/Kofi VS The Corre - another one that was too short. With the group of 8 wrestlers as diverse as was there, there was so much more potential wasted here. I mean, having Kofi drop the belt to Barrett the previous week so that they could have him take over for Kozlov who had gotten injured was a pretty slick move, and they didn't do anything between the 2 of them during this match.
Orton VS Punk - Orton getting that final RKO on a diving Punk was cool and all, but other than that, there was nothing memorable at all about this match, which leads to believe that TPTB are planning on continuing this feud for at least another PPV or 2.
Cole VS Lawler - Austin nearly running Swagger down with the ATV was fun, as well as his asking Cole "DO YOU GIVE UP?" when Lawler had the ankle lock on him. If it hadn't been for the anonymous RAW GM ruining the party the way that he/she did, the LOL factor of this match could have (at least partially) redeemed the mediocrity of the show up to that point. However, instead, we had another downer.
HHH VS 'Taker - lots of high-impact moves, but fuck the pace of the match was slower than molasses. My godson probably said it best when he said "Holy shit I think I'm falling asleep watching this". They also severely botched the ending of this match by having HHH tap out. Having the match end with 'Taker doing the gogoplata wasn't cheap enough, but having HHH tap? That's just completely out of character for him, especially the "I'm going to end your streak or die trying" speech that he gave previously. I mean really, was HHH tapping supposed to be a better ending than having him "pass out" from the hold (like how Stone Cold passed out from Bret Hart's sharpshooter at WM 13)? Then they did that whole thing at the end where they were acting like 'Taker was legitimately hurt from the match. That took waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long and did not help matters by any means.
Morrison/Stratus/Snookie VS Ziggler/LayCool - I was thankful that they kept this one as short as they did. Seriously, that was 5 minutes of my life that I wanted back. Only tolerable part of that entire debacle of a match was getting to see peeks of Trish's ass-crack.
Cena VS Miz - Yet another match where the actual match itself was nothing special. Am I surprised at what the Rock did at the end? Not really. If anything I'm hoping that continue to do something with this Rock/Cena feud that they've started. If they just end it now, again, just more wasted potential.
Really, the only things that I truly enjoyed from this year's WM was having Jim Ross, Stone Cold and The Rock back. The latter two have more on-screen chemistry individually (let alone when they're "interacting" together) than half of the current roster put together, and JR can still call a wrestling match WAY better than anyone else alive today.
WM is supposed to be a high-octane, high-powered type of show. This year we got jypped.
