The Hello! Project internal ranking chart
« on: August 31, 2010, 06:53:47 AM »
I am a geek. I like charts that have lots of information presented in a dense manner.
That's why I loved this!:

Here's each girl's individual page.
Links to translated pages are underlined.

Morning Musume
Niigaki
Risa
Michishige
Sayumi
Mitsui
Aika
JunJun
LinLin

Berryz Koubou
Tsugunaga
Momoko
Tokunaga
Chinami
Sudou
Maasa
Kumai
Yurina
Sugaya
Risako

°C-ute
Yajima
Maimi
Nakajima
Saki
Suzuki
Airi
Chisato
Okai
Hagiwara
Mai

Mano Erina
Mano
Erina

S/mileage
Wada
Ayaka
Maeda
Yuuka
Fukuda
Kanon
Ogawa
Saki

So, following through on my geeky tendencies, I proceeded to tabulate and crunch the data.
Average age of each girl's answers
(Link to separate post)

Conventionality/Uniqueness of each girl's answers
(Link to separate post)

Most popular answer for each question
Q1. Group you'd make and who would be in it:
Okai Chisato   7 votes
Hagiwara Mai   7 votes
Maeda Yuuka   7 votes
Fukuda Kanon   7 votes

Q2-1. Admired singing/voice:
Takahashi Ai   8.5 votes
Kamei Eri   5 votes
Suzuki Airi   4.5 votes

Q2-2. Admired dancing:
Shimizu Saki   11 votes
Takahashi Ai   6 votes
Kamei Eri   3 votes

Maeda Yuuka   3.25 votes
Takahashi Ai   3 votes

Q2-6. Admired fashion:
Natsuyaki Miyabi   9 votes
Takahashi Ai   5.5 votes
Tanaka Reina   4 votes

Q3. Only I know that oo is actually like xx! (to paraphrase, you know a secret about this person):
Sudou Maasa   3 votes

Nakajima Saki   4 votes

Q10. Would like as a boyfriend if they were a guy:
Yajima Maimi   6 votes
Kumai Yurina   4 votes
Niigaki Risa   3 votes

At the end of my analysis I tried to add up all the answers, but Q1 and Q3 were somewhat problematic.
For Q1, each vote did not appear to be weighted the same, since they gave different sized groups as their answers.
For Q3, it didn't seem as related to how admired or desirable the subject was as how well the answerer knew them, so it didn't really fit with the other questions.

That's why I did two analyses, one without Q1 and Q3, one with them.

The final result was identical at the top:
#1 Takahashi Ai
#2 Kamei Eri
#3 Natsuyaki Miyabi

Then they varied after that.

After all that was calculated, I did a ranking of each group's average member power:
#1 Morning Musume
#2 Berryz Koubou
#3 °C-ute
#4 S/mileage
#5 Mano Erina

There's lots of interesting things to note and discuss about this chart and the tabulated results.
What stood out/was interesting to you guys?

Some things that stood out to me:
Aichan OWNED this thing.  If you look at her z-score (# of standard deviations from the mean), it's just insane.
Shimizu Saki had the highest number of votes for a single question with 11.  I guess it's pretty unanimous that her dancing is top notch.

^ world knows that Ai can sing  cool

Estrea posted it in the morning musume thread but i think it deserves to be here too, hope is ok  :peace:
I'll do the column for Ai, only because I'm a rabid Ai fangirl, and it's hard to strain my eyes throughout.

Q1: If you created a unit, which members would you choose and what would the name be?
A: Name of Unit - E.A.S, members - Kamei Eri, Shimizu Saki

Q2-1: Whose singing/voice do you admire?
A: Suzuki Airi

Q2-2: dancing
A: Natsuyaki Miyabi

Q2-3: talk
A: Michishige Sayumi

Q2-4: character
A: LinLin

Q2-5: looks
A: Maeda Yuuka

Q2-6: fashion sense
A: Nakajima Saki

Q3: Only I know that "This member may look like ○○ but in reality she's ××".
A: Okai Chisato (now I'm really curious as to what she knows about Chisa-chan )

Q4: I'd like her to be my elder sister.
A: Sudo Maasa

Q5: I'd like her to be my little sister.
A: Tsugunaga Momoko

Q6: It would be nice if she was my mother.
A: Kamei Eri (WTF?!)

Q7: I'd like to keep her as a pet.
A: Sugaya Risako

Q8: You must form a comedy duo with someone. Who would be your partner?
A: Niigaki Risa (lmao)

Q9: If you were male, who would you like to be your girlfriend?
A: Fukuda Kanon (omg, Aichan, stop picking the young'ins!!!)

Q10: If other members were male, whose girlfriend would you like to be?
A: Tokunaga Chinami

Conclusion: Aichan is pretty damn close to the Kids. Lmao.

So this got me thinking: is Aichan really close to the kids or are the ages of her answers close to the average?

For that matter, how popular was each girl's answers? Or in other words, how would they do on a family-feud-style gameshow for this?

Additional stats to come! :thumbsup

Btw, any comments/suggestions/corrections on my methodology/data? I tried to make it as straightforward as possible, but maybe there's some stuff I didn't account for?

Copied here for those who don't visit individual girls' threads.
Thanks, rokun!

Ahh, this ended up being quite a bit of work through a lot of distraction, but I thought you'd be interested. Going a little further than time-strapped Essy...

Btw, the smilies are Ai's own XD from (笑)

Quote
Q1: Ai's unit would be "E.A.S", with Ai, Eri, and Shimizu. As for the name, it's from the beginning letters of "E"ri, "A"i, and "S"aki. In the new 2010 spring concert the three of us sang together, and that was incredibly fun! Because Eri and Saki-chan both also performed so well, we could relax and just sing with all our effort. With this 3-person combination, I want to make a solid unit and perform again.

Q2-1 (voice): From the time Airi joined the eggs, I thought her voice was always so very good. It's awesome that even while dancing her high notes don't shake. I understand well why she's the center in C-ute and Buono!.

Q2-2 (dance): Generally speaking Miyabi's just cool. You can see the atmosphere Miyabi carries about her, and when she dances, even if it's the same choreography, you can see it 2 or 3 times as strong in her. Because I think it's something she's had since she was born, I'm envious.

Q2-3 (talking): It's easy to see that it's "Michishige-san", right? I admire that she can immediately make a comment at any time. It's great that she gets to appear on variety shows with other talents.

Q2-4 (character): LinLin's character is my ideal. It's a different meaning from Sayu's, but because she can say very interesting things. Many times a day I say "Why do you choose those words for that!?"; that's the key point.

Q2-5 (face and body): Yuuka's face is small, her arms and legs are long, because she's short her style is great! Yuuka-chan and Wada Ayaka-chan say they are of "the new type born in Heisei", and often chat with Morning Musume members.

Q2-6 (fashion): When we did "Fashionable", I saw Nacky every day and got to know that she was really fashionable (oshare). But if I say that, she responds with "I'm not really like that. I just go with the flow."

Q3 (secret personality): Chisato is incredibly shy. When I say "You're looking good today, aren't you?" she gets really embarrassed and frantically says "What? Stop it!" Even though she's praised she seems very delicate. I'm also similar in that way, so somehow it's a relief. But since she always tries her hardest, and I can see the effort, I just want to praise her.

Q4 (big sister): Even though Maasa's younger than me, it feels like she'd take care of me. She has that kind of ability, doesn't she? She's been calm since she was small, but now that she appears as an adult she's gradually become like a big sister. In Maasa's case it's not just that she's gentle, but that she gives the impression that she'd watch over you. Even if I look at her relationships with other girls, she shows her big sister ability and seems like she could be relied on for things.

Q5 (little sister): I want to make Momoko my little sister and produce everything she does . Her attire hasn't changed at all since she joined the Eggs. Because she's getting older, she'll start to look child-like, won't she? Even though I ask her "Why don't you want to become an adult?" she herself doesn't seem very concerned about it . On this occasion, I'll loan her all of my clothes and will execute the "Momoko Adult Plan".

Q6 (mother): However old she gets, I'll think of Eri as Mama Eri. Her own mother is very cute and gorgeous. Although she's a little crazy , it's something that comes from her own gentle personality. Actually, what I'm thinking about is her dignity. I think surely she'll become a good mother that watches over her children's growth.

Q7 (pet): If you make Risako's face go "kyu!", wouldn't she look like a little animal? For example, a squirrel. I'll put her in a basket and it'll make her be cute . I'll pet her head and want to give her a comforted feeling. And then, since her hair is bomber (? XD), the impulse to tousle it up and make her cuter is always in me

Q8 (comedy duo): When I'm talking to Gaki-san, it's a great tempo. Since I'm basically a tsukkomi type, even though she plunges very well into the boke role, I want her to return to the tsukkomi too. Double tsukkomi? Since we're now Morning Musume leader and subleader and we were always together since Gaki-san and I became members, if it's H!P material we'll have plenty of it

Q9 (girlfriend): If I'm a boy, if I don't know much about my partner , I'd want to find out more I think, wouldn't I? For me, the person I want to know more about is Kanon-chan. The things she's thinking about I surprisingly can't read . Well, things like her suddenly saying funny things and that in Smileage there are mostly girls I can't read, I'm curious about it . I'll make Kanon-chan my girlfriend since I feel curious about her.

Q10 (boyfriend): At places like the stage show when Chinami did the male part, wasn't she cool? She looks great dressed up as a guy. Because her personality is also candid, I expect I wouldn't even say anything about her being feminine! Like even if we share sweets together, in the end she'd say "I'm good, you eat the rest", give me the fork and run off somewhere . As for a boyfriend, this kind of guy with a refreshing personality would be nice~

Reina's responses to the self-ranking questions released in the last few days... I gotta stop doing this.

Quote
Q1: Members: Ogawa Saki, Fukuda Kanon, Hagiwara Mai, Natsuyaki
Miyabi, Mitsui Aika. Unit: Tanaka's Army. Before, at the H!P concert, proof
was presented that "Tanaka Reina is secretly making 'Tanaka's Army'". So,
if that's implemented, H!P members, especially ones I often talk with, I'll
want to gather together and form it all out

Q2-1 (voice): (Ogawa) Saki has personality in her vocal quality and singing
method, and puts a lot of effort into it. Moreover, I think she expresses
that trait very well. Because she sings rather well, I always admire
her.

Q2-2 (dance): (Saki Shimizu) Man, her movement exceeds the limits of an idol!!
She's a true natural dancer. In H!P lives too, in a genuine performance
you can't help but stare at her!

Q2-3 (talking): Sayu's brain spins so fast, and Gaki-san's summary
skills are great. When I have a talk with those two, with a really infinite
spread of topics, I truly feel the quality of the consistent conversations!

Q2-4 (character): I chose Yuuka because since she has a really nice atmosphere about
her, and her voice is also cute, I'm envious. It's completely opposite of
me . She's your regular "type of girl that guys will like".

Q2-5 (face and body): Saki-chan (Nakajima) has long legs and a good
style, doesn't she? Because I'm short and have poor balance, generally
speaking if I grow taller I'd want to have an attractive body shape like
Saki-chan!

Q2-6 (fashion): Because (Miyabi) wears the same genre of clothes as me, I
always notice her. Because she's casually fashionable in more trivial
points too, I keep an eye on it all.

Q3 (secret personality): Maasa, from her looks, I think might look
standoffish, or rather she has an image that she wouldn't often talk in a
very cool way. In her personality also, there are lots of people who feel
like she goes her own way, preferring not to consult with others about it.
However, in actuality she'll come out from herself and approach everyone,
talking to them about various things. Even though she may be a bit spoiled,
from how she appears to what lies behind it she's incredibly friendly.

Q4 (big sister): Because like at times when Aika wants to have a
drink she asks "Would you like a drink?" she really gives those small
considerations. Also, since it seems like she does almost all her
housework herself, when I'm looking at those points, I think she'd become a
very reliable big sister. If we lived together I'd rely on Aika for
everything

Q5 (little sister): (Ogawa Saki) From hair to toe, generally
speaking I love all of her . Actually, from her time as an H!P Egg
I've seen her as "Such a cute child!". Then, when she joined S/mileage, I
thought "of course she would". Since I decided long before that if I could have
a little sister it'd be Saki-chan, she was the necessary answer to this
question!

Q6 (mother): When JunJun and I are together, it's very calming. Even
though JunJun will sometimes, before going on stage for a live and in order to
calm herself down, ask me to hold her tightly, myself in the calming
position will conversely become calmed down myself! Since she has such
tolerance and we come to support each other in the hug, when we move she'll also take the
seat next to me.

Q7 (pet): Looking at character, this would definitely be Yuuka,
wouldn't it? Since she's cute, gentle and calm, just looking at her would
be very soothing and comforting. Because her skin is white, if compared to
an animal I wonder if she'd be a bunny. Every day I'd neatly give her food,
and as she'd quickly grow I'd continue to watch over her with warm eyes
.

Q8 (comedy duo): Mai's eagerness is incredibly good. In the past,
when I went to hang out at Mai's house, I felt like she was a super funny
girl. Since she and I seem to be on the same wavelength, I think we'd
become a funny combo! As for the roles, Mai would of course be the
tsukkomi, and I would be the boke. Since generally speaking she's good with
her mouth , I think she'd be able to reprimand me very soundly.

Q9 (girlfriend): In H!P, I think Risako is the most girlish and has
the cutest face. As for the likeable face, when we first met I instantly thought "This
girl, she's ingeniusly cute!". Since
then, I've always continued to think that. I wonder if I thought that since
I have boyish characteristics myself. If Risako-chan was my girlfriend, I'd
be without words.

Q10 (boyfriend): This was decided by Yurina's height I think .
Maybe since I'm small, but I'll say for one reason or another, a girl would
yearn for a tall guy. Because there would be no objections to that point if
it was Kumai-chan, I feel she could be relied on for support from above.
Because of that height, if she'd tell me "Come here!" man, my heart would
beat fast.

Want to know more about what Saki-chan thinks and likes?

Quote
Q1: Members: Yajima Maimi, Tsugunaga Momoko, LinLin, Mano Erina. Unit: Unity Power. If I add myself, our common feature is we're in the same year in school! As for other things, because we're of the same class and our awareness of each other is strong, but conversely also because we'd see each other as rivals, I think there'd be an implicit connection among us. We'd make full use of that connection in making our unit

Q2-1 (voice): I can't help but honestly admire Airi for her great voice. Whatever song it is she handles it perfectly, and there's never an objection with listening to what she sings...... I think she's just awesome!!

Q2-2 (dance): Beyond just dancing with her whole heart, while really feeling its scope, I think (Takahashi-san) is so cool when she dances. If you don't really dance with a lot of courage, your full scope really won't be shown.

Q2-3 (talking): Even when I watch the variety shows Michishige-san appears in I can't help but see her brain turning so fast, how good she is with comebacks, and her intuition. I think she's a genius at talking!

Q2-4 (character): Miya gives a likable personality whether toward a guy or a girl, so I'm very envious of her. Since she's skilled at conversations and fashionable, she gives the impression that she knows how to help everyone have fun.

Q2-5 (face and body): Kumai-chan's smoothly growing height and long arms and legs can't help but draw attention, can they? I also would love to have that kind of body. I want to be told wherever I go, like Kumai-chan is, that "You're style is great!"

Q2-6 (fashion): I haven't really seen the everyday clothes of H!P members other than Berryz, but in Berryz Miya is the most fashionable. I think she's really great at things like her combination of styles and how she arranges them.

Q3 (secret personality): Even though Risako's outward appearance is a wantonly girlish and cute image, sometimes she displays boyish actions to the other members! For example, her sneezes are rather dynamic, and times like when she puts on facial lotion, even though it's usually gradually rubbed into the skin, since Risako scrubs her face as if she's washing it, it really surprised all of us!!

Q4 (big sister): If Kamei-san who always gives me a full snug feeling would become my big sister, it seems like she'd make me live every day in peace♪ Even if I'm selfish and say mean things, I feel like the usual thing she'd do while saying "Hey, you shouldn't be like that" is forgive me with a kind smile. If I had a big sister like Kamei-chan I feel like I'd be strongly dependent on her.

Q5 (little sister): If Risako was my little sister, on the contrary I think I'd forgive her whatever she might do. I'd lose to Risako's cuteness, and soon be like "Ok, ok". Moreover, since that's what it resembles right now as well, it's very fitting . Following that, I'd be prideful of her to my friends. I'd say "I have such a cute little sister!" I wouldn't be able to help but take her to many different places to show her off.

Q6 (mother): Kumai-chan is very careful with her health and hygiene. Even if other members catch a cold, when there are symptoms like that, she advises on what to do to help them. If she was my real mother, I think she'd make nutritionally balanced meals and would take care of other points relating to my health.

Q7 (pet): Doesn't it seem like Yuuka has big and round eyes like you'd never know when she might cry, just like a small dog!? It's a feeling like if you look at them once you'd come to stare into them forever... If you look into that puppy's pupils it'd be just amaszing, wouldn't it? She'd pierce your heart with her moe

Q8 (comedy duo): Because I think it's an intense journey until you bloom as a performer, even if you feel like your spirit may be broken, it'd be best to have someone who'll be cheerful and encourage you no matter what. In that case, I think it'd be Chinami. For example, even if I fail on the stage, I'd expect her to energetically say "You can't let yourself feel you're failing like this!" As for the roles, Chinami would be the boke and I would become the tsukkomi I think .

Q9 (girlfriend): Because Miya always has high spirits and the air of being energetic, as a boyfriend if we're together we'd always be laughing. I feel like we'd be a couple that'd never suppress our laughter. On the other hand there would things to be careful of as well, like not forgetting to keep up the image of being the boyfriend. I think Miya would be a very fantastic candidate for a girlfriend!

Q10 (boyfriend): When I think of Maimi-chan there's the airheaded image, but I have a feeling that airheadedness would make a very attractive boyfriend. That feeling of something missing would be cute, and there'd also be a warm feeling. A boyfriend that'd actively flame your desire would be good too, but a guy that delicately likes you would also be attractive...... Because of that, I chose Maimi-chan

Now Miyabi! Who will be up next? :ph43r:

She has some of the funniest responses so far, IMO.

Quote
Q1: Members: Shimizu Saki, Sugaya Risako, Kumai Yurina, Natsuyaki Miyabi. Unit: Peace
These four sing the song "Baka ni Shinaide", but I'd make it just like it is into a new unit, and would want to try a rock route that hasn't been seen in H!P yet. By the way, although the unit's name is "Peace", written it would be a peace symbol like an upside-down "Y" inside a circle.

Q2-1 (voice): Takahashi-san's clear voice which sings such a variety of songs is really beautiful. It has a carefree shine, and when I listen to it, it gives me a good feeling. Since her voice flows smoothly into your ears it's a pleasing feeling♪

Q2-2 (dance): At both concert rehearsal and on stage during a performance, there are times when my eyes quickly go to Captain's dancing. At the same time I think "She looks so cool! I want to imitate that myself."

Q2-3 (talking): On variety shows (Michishige-san appears in), when she's talking forcefully, forceful words tend to gradually come out, and when she enters burikko mode it suddenly turns into burikko speech. Adapting herself to the moment while rapid-firing the right words like that is awe~some!

Q2-4 (character): JunJun, man, it's a good feeling when you're running alone. Whatever you do it's grand, and whoever you're going against, you gradually go toward them . Even though you're not standing out, standing out is what's best.

Q2-5 (face and body): Kumai-chan, because whatever outfit she wears she looks cool, even if it's her usual plain clothes, I want to have that quality of style to the extent I'd be seen as beautiful too  Nobody can imitate Kumai-chan's splendor when she's not even wearing anything!

Q2-6 (fashion): I think Risako's taste is great. In the past she wore a one-piece system a lot, but recently a cooler and looser feeling has been more prevalent. However, her loose behavior of deciding what to wear just when she has to gives a full fashionable impression♪

Q3 (secret personality): Captain seemingly looks cool, but really she's quite a burikko  In actuality, everyone says things like "You're so level-headed!" and she stays so calm, but when she's like talking on the phone she transforms completely into a delicate burikko-chan. Especially when she hangs up, even though "Bai ba-i" is the normal thing to say, she says it like "Bai bba~i " in an ultra burikko-like way..... I wonder if anyone would take that the wrong way?

Q4 (big sister): There was a plan in the "Hello! Channel" magazine for Kamei-san and I to go shopping together, and we had various exchanges of opinion in relation to fashion. She gave me advice like "It looks better this way on you", and it was so much fun. I feel like I'd get excited whenever I had girltalk with Kamei-san. I feel like she'd share all kinds of thoughts with me.

Q5 (little sister): In things like high spirits and cheerfulness, Mai and I normally give a very similar impression. And so, if Mai-chan was my little sister, even in our private lives our wavelengths would be similar, wouldn't they? Mai-chan also often tells me that she wants to go shopping with me! I feel like our spirits are exquisitely similar. Surely we could become super close siblings♪

Q6 (mother): Since Takahashi-san is good at things like cooking, if she was my mother I feel like she'd make me plenty of delicious food every day♪ Moreover, she has the image that she'd coordinate really cute small items and furniture in the rooms and entryways! Also, although my ideal is to have a good, friendly relationship between mother and child, if it's with Takahashi-san that'd definitely be clear too.

Q7 (pet): Just looking at Wada-chan's "laid back and calm and my-pace" attitude and its soothing feeling, she's very much like a pet, isn't she? It seems like normally when you'd say "Good morning" she'd bark back "Wan!" On days off I'd want to keep her company the whole day. I'd want to take her around on a walk

Q8 (comedy duo): If I would be talking with Captain, I feel like we'd get along very well . Comedy is all right too, but I also want to think of things like short situational story performances for the two of us. The foundation would be Captain as the boke and myself as the tsukkomi, but depending on the different material we could change our responsibilties..... Because it'd also be hard to get rid of Captain's cool tsukkomi

Q9 (girlfriend): If we'd get married, it'd be Kumai-chan~ probably. Because I could have peace of mind about housework and leave it a~ll to her. I feel like she'd tidily do all the housework like cleaning, laundry, and shopping without any problems♪ When I call and say "I'm coming home now!" she'd wait for me with a flawless attitude. Kumai-chan and no other would be the type of wife that would always keep being ideal!

Q10 (boyfriend): Risako has surprising strong points and somewhat of a dependent effect, doesn't she? There are also youthfully cute parts, but in contrast there are times when she cares about being cool as well. Fun times would be enjoyable, but cool and calm times would be calm as well. That variety would be awesome! I think she'd be very reliable. There's an ambience that whenever something would happen, she'd protect me.

So this got me thinking: is Aichan really close to the kids or are the ages of her answers close to the average?
So, I just finished the calculations.

First, I made a list of each girl's current age in days.
Then I added up the ages of each choice for each girl interviewed.
(Q1 was left out because it's frickin' hard to work with.  Especially since two members answered with the ENTIRE Hello! Project!)
For answers that had multiple girls chosen, I used the average.
Then I took the average.

The results are as follows:
Average Age of Response by Girl
Average=18.7651      Std Deviation=0.81022
Rank    Name    Years    x-u    z
1    LinLin    21.1383    +2.3732    +2.9291
2    Nakajima    19.5479    +0.7828    +0.9662
3    Okai    19.4866    +0.7215    +0.8905
4    JunJun    19.3800    +0.6149    +0.7589

15    Wada    18.6222    -0.1429    -0.1764
16    Maeda    18.5922    -0.1729    -0.2134
17    Michishige    18.4965    -0.2686    -0.3315

22    Fukuda    17.9123    -0.8528    -1.0526
23    Niigaki    17.8209    -0.9442    -1.1654
24    Sugaya    17.6396    -1.1255    -1.3891
25    Tanaka    17.1018    -1.6633    -2.0529

These results were somewhat surprising, as they show that numerically, Reina is actually the one who is closest to the kids, as her answers were younger than every one else's by a wide margin.
Though Aichan is still towards the younger end of the list, Reina's answers were by far the youngest.

This is probably due to her response for "Admired singer".
Whereas most of the other members picked older members like Aichan or Eri, or even Airi, Reina instead picked the youngest member, Ogawa Saki.
Selecting Ogawa Saki as well for the younger sister question also skewed her average toward the younger side, and shows just how much she likes this girl.

At the other end of the spectrum, LinLin's answers were MUCH older than everyone else's. (almost 3 standard deviations)
Upon closer investigation, this is probably because 12 out of 15 of her answers were Morning Musume members, and only one of them was under 18.

Also interesting to note is that all the 5th and 6th generation Morning Musume members gave answers younger than the average.
Only 8th generation gave answers older than average.

I also calculated the average age of all the responses for a given question:
Average Age of Response by Question
Rank    Question    TopicYears
1Q4older sister20.8612
2Q2-2dancing20.3727
3Q2-1singing20.1441
4Q6mother19.8078
5Q2-3talk19.7996
6Q2-6fashion19.5648
7Q8comedy duo18.9026
8Q10boyfriend18.7294
9Q2-4character18.6461
10Q2-5looks18.1112
11Q9girlfriend17.9087
12Q3secret17.2135
13Q7pet16.5449
14Q5younger sister    15.8776

Unsurprisingly, the older sister question was easily the question with the oldest responses, while the younger sister question was the one with the youngest responses.
Somewhat less obvious but still unsurprising was that the boyfriend question had an average age nearly a year older than the girlfriend question.
It was also not too surprising that some of the "admired ___" questions had some of the oldest responses.

These results were pretty straightforward, but they suggested that the older sister question had something interesting:
Namely, that out of the 25 members, 17 (68%) picked Morning Musume members.
If you exclude the answers of the Morning Musume members, that jumps to 13 out of 17. (76.5%)
As far as I can tell, this is the only question that is so skewed toward one group.

Since the results were this predictable, I didn't bother with the standard deviation and such.
Still, I think it's nice to have it mathematically laid out like this.

For my detailed calculations and age chart see:
age results.txt
(make sure word wrap is turned off)

tl;dr
Linlin gave the oldest answers.
Reina gave the youngest answers.
Aichan was in the middle but more toward the younger side.
Reina really likes Ogawa Saki.
The older sister question was dominated by Morning Musume members.

^ I think Reina is biased toward her army. She picked Saki twice, Aika twice, and Miyabi, Mai, and trainee Maasa each for a question as well.

She's just really loyal to this little H!P clique she's developing nicely.

I updated the first post so now it should be easier to find the relevant translations and analyses.

Shirenu had a theory that Aichan and Gaki-san were picking some of the younger/less obvious members for their answers in order to give some of the less popular girls a bump.
Naturally, I had to find out for myself just how conventional/unconventional each girl's answers were.

Process:
Using the numbers from my analysis in the first post of this thread, I weighted each girl's answers by how many votes that response got for that question.
For example, if a girl answered "Shimizu Saki" for Q2-2, "admired dancer", that girl would get 11 points, whereas if they answered "Takahashi Ai", they would get 6 points.
Adding up these scores gives what I will call a "conventionality score", which is a measure of how closely a girl's answers matched the overall popular opinion.

In other words, more popular answers were worth more points than less popular answers.
This also means that questions with more consensus were potentially worth more points, which de-emphasizes questions where there is no clear consensus.

The detailed tally can be found here.

Results and Analysis:
Here is a ranking of the average of the conventionality scores for all answers given for that question.
A higher rank means that there was more general consensus for the winner(s) of that particular question.
As noted above, a question with more consensus was effectively weighted higher in determining conventionality scores.
This means that a unique answer for a question with clear winners will impact a girl's score more than a unique answer on a question without any clear winners.

Questions Ranked by Amount of Consensus
Rank    #    Subject    Score
1    Q2-2    dancing    6.84
2    Q2-3    talking    6.2933
3    Q2-6    fashion    5.34
4    Q2-1    singing    5.14
5    Q5    younger sister    3.72
6    Q4    older sister    3.64
7    Q2-5    looks    3.07
8    Q9    girlfriend    3
9    Q10    boyfriend    2.98
10    Q6    mother    2.68
11    Q7    pet    2.52
12    Q8    comedy duo    2.52
13    Q2-4    character    2.12
14    Q3    secret    1.9511

As you'd expect, questions with a more concrete basis, such as dancing, talking, fashion, and singing, have more consensus.
Conversely, questions with a more abstract basis like who you'd pick as pet, comedy partner, or admired character, have less consensus.

What struck me was that the "mother" question has less consensus than the "girlfriend/boyfriend" questions.
Whereas obvious personality traits and appearance translate well into girlfriend/boyfriend judgments, being a good mother or pet or comedy partner seem like they would have more personal criteria attached.

So given the above levels of consensus for the questions, you can see which questions may have impacted a given girl's conventionality score, which are given below.
A higher score means that the given girl's answers were more conventional, and a lower score means that their answers were more unique.

Conventionality of Each Girl's Answers
Average Conventionality Score: 51.69444
Standard Deviation: 10.88958

15    Sudou    51.41667    -0.27778    -0.0255
16    Mitsui    46.25    -5.44444    -0.5000
17    JunJun    44.75    -6.94444    -0.6377
18    Ogawa    42.72222    -8.97222    -0.8239
19    Michishige    42.5    -9.19444    -0.8443
20    Maeda    42.16667    -9.52778    -0.8749
21    Kamei    40.75    -10.94444    -1.0050
22    Okai    39.5    -12.19444    -1.1198
23    Takahashi    35.58333    -16.11111    -1.4795
24    Tsugunaga    34.25    -17.44444    -1.6019
25    Niigaki    33.25    -18.44444    -1.6938

As Shirenu noticed, Aichan and Gaki-san's answers were indeed among the most unique of all the members'.
I can't say for certain that this was because they wanted to look after their kohais and were intentionally trying to give some of the less-popular members a bump.
I think a more likely reason would be that they were intentionally trying to give more unique answers to make their opinions stand out.
As they are the idols with the most experience, this could very well be the case, as Eri and Sayumi's answers were also among the more unique ones.

Momoko also gave very unique answers, which is exemplified in the fact that she's the only one that gave Manoeri as an answer for two questions.
Again this could be because Momo is a pro like Aichan and Gaki-san, or it could be that her personality is just a little odd.  (I personally think it may be a combination of these.)

At the other end of the spectrum, Kumai's answers were almost unnaturally close to the consensus winners I found in my first analysis.
I can only speculate as to any reason this could be the case.
Perhaps she just didn't put as much thought into giving unique or unexpected answers and just went with whoever first came to mind.
Or, if I really want to speculate, she might be self-conscious about being noticed and is trying to make herself less noticeable.

A more concrete reason for these uniqueness scores might be shown by the next table.

The table given below is the average conventionality score of the answers for the members in each group.
Again, a higher score means more conventional answers, and a lower score means more unique answers.

Average Conventionality of Each Group's Answers
Rank    Group    Avg. Score
1    °C-ute    57.2833
2    Berryz Koubou    56.9048
3    Mano Erina    54.6667
4    S/mileage    47.9236
5    Morning Musume    45.1563

As I previously noted, Morning Musume gave the most unique answers, mostly due to Aichan, Gaki-san, Eri, and Sayumi.
In general, these results basically follow the age/experience of each group, with more experienced/older groups giving more unique answers.
It could be that older/more experienced girls intentionally tried to give unique answers to make themselves stand out a bit.

However, S/mileage's answers were also among the most unique ones, which defies the general pattern of older groups giving more unique answers.
As they are the only group that came out of the eggs, it seems likely that level of group isolation is a factor as well as age and experience.
Since they are the most isolated of the groups, it is not surprising that their answers would not be in-tune with the popular opinion of the others.

This leads me to my next observation:
At the top of the list, °C-ute and Berryz Koubou gave the most conventional answers.

Using the same idea of level of group isolation, this could very well be because all of them came in at the same time as Hello! Project Kids.
This means that not only are their opinions more likely to be similar, but as the Hello! Project Kids girls now make up nearly half of Hello! Project, their opinions by definition are the general consensus.

Mano is right in the middle, very close to the average conventionality score.
Though she is less experienced, she is older than most of the other members.
Also even though she is isolated as a former egg and soloist, she has already worked quite extensively with the other groups and seems to relate well with everyone.
Given that these factors offset each other, it is then unsurprising that she is right in the middle of the ranking.

Conclusion:
It seems that the uniqueness of a given girl's answers hinged upon several factors, among which are:
Level of idol experience:
More experience generally yielded more unique answers, possibly due to idols intentionally picking less obvious answers to stand out.
As Shirenu speculated, this also could be because the more experienced/older members are trying to look out for their less-popular kohai.

Age:
Though I have not done a proper analysis of this factor, it correlates strongly with the level of idol experience.
This factor may be important in the previous two analyses I did as well, so this is probably the thing I will investigate next.

Level of group interaction/isolation:
Hello! Project Kids are now nearly half of Hello! Project, all came in at the same time, and all know each other very well.
This means that not only are their answers more likely to be similar, but it also means that as a block they are very influential in determining the group consensus.
In contrast, S/mileage has been kept more isolated than the other groups since they were Eggs until quite recently.
Similarly, Morning Musume tends to work more independently from the other groups.

What's next?
As I mentioned before, I have not thoroughly investigated the age of the girls as a factor in determining their popularity, the ages of their answers, or the uniqueness of their answers.
Though I believe there may be a correlation, I have not yet formulated the data to prove it.

I also have started thinking about the extent a girl is likely to select members of her own group as answers for these questions.
This seems like an interesting thing to measure and may shed some light on how important group is as a factor in these choices.

In doing the translations I have so far, I've noticed many of the things Slack mentioned in his most recent post. The thing that stood out to me the most when I saw it was age, and its relation to some of the questions asked. For example, there are very age-related questions including who they'd like as mother, and big and little sister. When you get to the top end of the spectrum - Risa or Eri or even Reina - since the tendency is to pick girls older than themselves for the big sister and mother questions, there aren't many options left... so the same ones (like Ai, or Jun, or Risa) get picked. As the girls get younger there are more options open for them at the top, and although the reverse can come to be true for little sister, it's still just one question, and the younger girls seem to get picked for that and the pet question more commonly than just the oldest girls for the big sister and mother. Obviously there are exceptions, and this isn't the complete reason, but it definitely contributes.

Also, I agree there is a bit of group isolation as well. It seems to be most pronounced with Berryz - I've translated Saki and Miya so far there, and already I've noticed Saki say in one of her responses about how she doesn't know non-Berryz members all that well. The two of them in general seem to have primarily chosen other Berryz members in their responses. Perhaps this shows more of a tight-knit group in Berryz than the others - they have been together basically unchanged for going on 7 years now - as well as maybe just less knowledge of girls from other groups since they've been together so long.

On a personal note, I'm happy this seems to support my theory of close-knit Berryz quite a bit more

I agree that for certain questions, age and the senpai-kohai relationship probably has a big impact on who gets chosen, e.g. Aichan as older sister, Hagiwara Mai as younger sister.
But what I want to find out is just how much this is a factor for each girl.

My next project sounds like it will directly address your theories:
I'm currently thinking up a way to measure the tendency to vote for one's own group so we can have some idea of how close-knit each group is.
Additionally, I'm probably going to cross-reference each of my previous studies' results with the age of each girl to find out the exact nature of the apparent age-response correlation.

I look forward to posting my results and analysis.
