Chapter 9Akane and Jurina are still at the grocery store. Akane keeps on putting junk food on the cart while Jurina keeps on putting them back to the shelf.
"Hey! That's my favorite! put it back in here!" Akane said loudly at Jurina.
"No, you already bought a lot of chips! you should just buy some canned goods if you don't know how to cook!" Jurina said as she place the bag of Cheetos back to the shelf.
"How about some canned tuna? you can eat it as it is." Jurina said as she pushed the cart full of junk food plus a heavy Akane.
"Ehhhhh....I don't know how to cook rice so..." Akane said as she arranged her chips in a line.
"What?!" Jurina stopped pushing and stared at Akane.
"What?" Akane looked at her like an innocent kid.
"Then how do you eat your meals? Just these?" Jurina stared at the chips inside the cart.
"Sometimes I eat outside but sometimes I don't have enough money so I'll just eat what I have at home." Akane said seriously as she still plays with the bags of chips.
Jurina looked at Akane with a very worried look on her face. Just how does she live day by day? Jurina asked to herself.
"Let's go to the drinks section! I'm out of Dutch Mill!" Akane screamed happily as she pointed her hand to the drinks section like a little kid.
Jurina pushed the cart so fast as if she was in a race. After pushing it she stood on the rails of the cart and allowed it to move by itself like a skateboard.
"Wooo!!! Yeah!!! Faster!!!" Akane screamed and laughed and so did Jurina. Jurina stopped playing when they got to the drinks section.
Akane grabbed a whole pack of blueberry flavored Dutch Mill and hugged it.
"Ahhh~ yes~i miss you too~" Akane said to her favorite drink.
"You're like a crazy person. Stop it." Jurina said as she look around at the stares they are getting at from other people.
"I don't care what they think. What's important is I finally got my stock of my baby for the week~" Akane said happily as she continues to hug the pack of drinks.
"You like it that much? What's so good about yogurt drinks anyway? I think it taste like puke." Jurina said as she look at Akane questioningly.
"Puke? Puke you say? How dare you! Don't say that again or my baby will be hurt!" Akane said as she stroke the pack of drinks in her arms.
"You're crazy. Where to next?" Jurina laughed at the sight of Akane playing as if it was her baby.
"Look at the list." Akane said as she put aside the pack of Dutch Mill.
"You're list is just full of different brands of chips." Jurina said a she showed Akane her list.
"Oh. Well... Hmmm...Ah! I'm out of noodles! Nooooooodlessss~" Akane pointed her hand out again like a little kid.
"You really need to learn how to cook." Jurina said as she pushed the cart.
"I hate the smell of cooking or fire or just cooking in general." Akane said seriously.
Jurina looked at Akane who suddenly got serious.
Rena was finishing her last bowl of the spicy hot pot. while Airin is still on her second bowl.
"Ahhh~ Done!" Rena showed Airin the empty bowl and wiped her mouth.
"Mou...It's obvious I can't win against you, Rena-san! It's like you're totally spicy food tolerant or something." Airin said as she played with her food while staring wide-eyed at Rena and her empty bowl.
"I guess I won!" Rena smiled widely at Airin while doing a peace sign.
"So what's your wish? and what's my penalty?" Airin said sadly as she tries to forget her fantasies of Rena cosplaying.
"My wish...Hmmm... I'll tell you when I think of it. I'll save that for later. For the penalty, do at least three weird faces." Rena said as she had both hands on her chin.
"Ehhhh???!!! Here??? As in right now????" Airin's eyes were bulging out as she spoke.
"Mm." Rena just nodded at her. Rena flipped her phone open getting ready to take a picture.
"Ehhh??? T-This is embarrassing..." Airin said as she looked around.
"Start!" Rena suddenly said as she holds her phone properly.
Airin was sweating heavily. She looks around at the people and then at Rena who firmly holds her phone.
Airin shut her eyes and gave herself some encouragement. She opened her eyes after that and did three poses as Rena takes pictures of her.

Rena was smiling widely as she looks at her phone.
"Let me see it, Rena-san." Airin said as she tries to grab Rena's phone.
"No, You can't." Rena immediately hid her phone on her lap and pouted as she said, "This is just for me, for my own pleasure. Part of your penalty is that you can't see the pictures."
"Eh?" Airin blushed at Rena's words.
"For her own p-pleasure??? P-Pleasure?! What does she meant by that? Eh? Why am I blushing and thinking about this. Go away dirty thoughts!" Airin thought to herself.
"Eh??? You didn't say anything about that earlier." Airin said to Rena.
"I'm saying it now." Rena pouted again as she look at her phone that was still on her lap.
Airin smiled at the pouting Rena. She thought that she looked like a kid when she does that. She have seen a lot of sides of Rena today and it makes her happy how Rena seems to be comfortable around her.
She have seen a Rena that is unlike the Rena at school who is so reserved. A Rena that only she knows. Well....aside for another person. Her sister, Matsui Jurina.
Airin frowned at the thought of another person being so close to her beloved Rena. But she's her sister so she shouldn't be jealous or anything. She actually doesn't have the right to be.
Airin shake the thought off of her head and smiled at Rena again who was staring at her.
Rena saw Airin thinking deeply but it was just a short moment and when Airin smiled at her, she smiled back.
The two of them went out the restaurant and continued to roam around the city.
They finally found a bookstore that sells the book that Rena was looking for.
"So, is this the end?" Airin sadly said.
"End? What do you mean?" Rena asked Airin curiously.
"I mean we already bought the book you wanted so I guess we'll go home now." Airin sounded so defeated.
"I don't want our date to end yet." Rena said seriously as she looked at Airin.
"Eh?" Airin stared back and blushed at Rena's words and tone.
"Can you accompany me to the grocery store? I need to buy some ingredients." Rena said with a smile.
"Yes!" Airin said happily.
The two of them started walking towards the grocery store. It was just a 5 minute walk from where they were so they immediately arrived.
They are now at the entrance of the grocery store. Rena took a medium-sized cart and spoke.
"Oh and... if you'd like to, you can come to our house and help me bake." Rena said as she looked away from Airin, blushing. She then ran off hurriedly inside and left Airin outside.
"Eh???!!! Really??!!! Yes, I will!!!" Airin shouted happily and quickly followed Rena inside.
Airin grabbed the handle of the cart that Rena was holding onto. Airin smiled at her and said, "I would be happy to help, Rena-san."
Rena smiled at her too and they both pushed the cart.
Not far from them two girls were fighting over a pack of candy.
"Enough of this! You already have three packs of different brands of candies!" Jurina yelled at Akane who was still sitting inside the cart.
"That's still not enough! And why are you yelling at me?!" Akane shouted as well.
"Hey, you started it!!" Jurina shouted even louder.
"It's because you kept on nagging! You're not my mother so shut the fuck up!" Akane angrily said.
Jurina was shocked at the words that came out of her mouth and became speechless.
Akane immediately regretted cursing at Jurina who was only helping her.
"Sorry...You didn't deserve that." Akane lowered her head.
"W-Whatever." Jurina said seriously and ran off from Akane.
Akane was feeling guilty when she saw Jurina's face. She climbed off the cart and limply followed Jurina.
Akane grabbed Jurina by the arm and explained herself, "I'm sorry. Sorry for cursing you. It just became a habit of mine when I'm angry or surprised. I'm sorry."
Jurina looked at Akane and felt sympathy for her instead of feeling angry. She feels that there is something wrong with Akane. Like she's deeply scarred just like her sister. Somehow she wants to help soothe the ache that Akane feels inside.
She held onto Akane's hands that was holding her arm.
"It's fine. Let's finish buying your groceries and then I'll take you home." Jurina smiled at Akane.
Akane blushed from Jurina's touch and smile. She back her hand away and irritatingly said, "You don't need to do that. I can go home on my own."
"So you can be a tsun too." Jurina jokingly said.
"W-What are you talking about?" Akane said.
"Sometimes you act as if you're all over me then this time you act like a tsundere. Which one is the real you?" Jurina said jokingly.
"Which one is the real you?" Those words echoed through Akane's mind.
"I ask that myself a lot too." she thought to herself.
"Well I don't know either. Maybe both or maybe none." Akane said seriously and limply went back to her cart.
Jurina's smile turned into a frown and a crinkled forehead. And with that Jurina decided to help Akane. No matter what she'll help her find her true self.
Jurina ran off and helped Akane walk towards the cart. She held her hand as Akane went back to sit inside the cart.
As Jurina was about to let go of Akane's hand to push the car, Akane didn't let go and instead held her hand tightly.
"I'm sorry again and thanks." Akane said in almost a whisper but Jurina clearly heard her and just pats Akane's head.
Jurina grabbed the pack of candy that they were fighting over earlier and said, "I'll buy this for you."
Akane turned to face Jurina and Jurina just smiled at her.
Jurina started pushing the cart and at the end of the candy section they bumped onto another cart.
There was a loud crash between the two carts but the groceries inside it plus Akane all stayed intact.
"The hell!" Akane shouted surprised.
"Are you alright, Rena-san???" A worried voice was heard from the other side.
"Rena-san?" Jurina thought and she looked intently at the owners of the other cart and saw the ones that she was following earlier. It was Rena and Airin.
"Neechan?" Jurina said as she saw the two.
Rena looked up as she heard the familiar voice, "Jurina? What are you doing here? Oh and you're with Akane-san too. Hello." Rena greeted Akane.
Airin looked at Jurina first then at the being inside the cart. She saw Akane but she didn't bother to greet her or smile at her. She then saw Akane's foot and everything that she was thinking earlier burst out of her mind like a bubble.
"W-what happened to your foot????" Airin immediately walked to Akane and asked worriedly.
"Some idiot bumped into me with her bicycle but it's nothing serious it'll heal soon." Akane smiled at Airin to assure her that she's fine. She then glared at Jurina who was also glaring at her for calling her an idiot.
"I'm glad it's nothing serious then." Rena smiled at Akane.
"Mm." Akane smiled at her too.
Rena then looked at Jurina and said, "You didn't tell me that you're going out? We could've gone all together." Jurina was surprised at the question and avoided her gaze.
"Ah, I just wanted to go out on my bicycle and look around the city." Jurina scratches her head as she avoids her sister's stare.
This gesture is so familiar to Rena. Jurina scratches her head and avoids her eyes when she's lying. But why would Jurina lie to her?
"Ah, Is that so?" Rena frowned and that frown didn't go unnoticed by Jurina and Airin.
"W-wait a minute...You rode your bicycle from your house to the city??? Wow! That's far! How did you endure that? Amazing!" Airin was clapping nonstop as she was amazed by Jurina's abilities.
"It's not that hard. I'm used to it." Jurina suddenly had a lot of confidence in herself hearing her rival praise her.
"Are you fine? That's a long ride. Didn't your legs give up or something? Don't push yourself too hard." Rena worriedly said to her younger sister.
"Alright..." Jurina said dejectedly.
"Okay enough of this and let's get a move on!" Akane said jokingly.
Jurina nods at Akane but when she was about to push the cart again she saw the contents of Rena and Airin's cart.
"Ahhhh~~~!!!" Jurina pointed at the baking ingredients just like how Akane was pointing childishly earlier.
"You really are going to bake for me today, Neechan???" Jurina shouted like a little kid, forgetting that she was just lying to her sister a while ago.
"Mm. But I guess I have to think twice. You need to explain something to me when we get home." Rena looks at her sister seriously and Jurina was just whimping there.
"Mou... Neechan! Don't be mad!!! I'll explain everything later~" Jurina hugged her sister from the back and rested her head on Rena's shoulder.
"Fine. You better have a good explanation." Rena removed Jurina's arms from her waist and stared at her sister.
Excluding the sisters, there were two persons that was fuming inside with jealousy as they watch the sisters interact.
"Waaah~ I want hug Rena-san like that too. If only I could....." Airin thought to herself.
"It would be nice to be hugged like that..." Akane had her own thoughts as well.
"By the way I invited Airin to come to our home today. You should come too, Akane." Rena said to Akane.
"Eh?" Jurina was surprised but then she somehow expected this. It's just totally what her sister will do.
"Y-Yeah you should come with us, Akane. I'll cook for you today." Jurina said to Akane.
"Is it fine? But I won't be long, I have a part time job at night." Akane smiled at them.
"Mm. We would be glad to have you there. It's been an awful while when we had visitors in our home." Rena smiled at both Akane and Airin.
"Okay then, I'll go!" Akane said excitedly.
"How can you go to your job when you're injured? Just call your boss and say your gonna be absent today." Jurina said as she looks at Akane's foot.
"She's right. You should just go straight home after and rest.
That could get worse if you still go to your job later." Airin said worriedly.
"I can't. If I don't go today, I won't have money for next week." Akane smiled at them as if what she said wasn't a serious matter at all.
"But still, you can't go today in that state." Jurina said seriously.
"Whatever! Let's think about that later! Let's finish the groceries and go to your house! It's been years since I tasted a home cooked meal! I can't wait!!!" Akane said cheerfully.
All three of them froze and just stared at the overly excited Akane. She noticed the silence and the pity stares so she slightly got irritated but she didn't show it.
"Hey~ No need to look at me like that! I don't like to be pitied okay? Let's just forget I said anything and have fun! Wooooo~!" Akane continued being excited by herself.
Jurina looked at her wristwatch and said, "Ah, It's almost lunchtime so we better hurry so I can cook for lunch."
"But we..." Airin was about to say that they just had lunch but Rena stopped her with her hand.
"That sounds great I'm starving." Rena smiled at her sister.
"I'll definitely make it extra delicious!!!" Jurina pouted at her sister and Rena patted her on her head.
"I know you will." Rena smiled and patted her sister more.
The two persons watching them was thinking of the same thing,
"It would be nice to have a sister."The gang finished buying their groceries and Airin offered to call their home to pick them up since Rena couldn't really ride a bus plus Akane is injured.
Airin just finished talking to Mr. Hata on her phone, "Mr. Hata said that he'll be her in 5 minutes."
"Woah that's fast! Isn't it like a 30 mins. drive from your home?" Akane said as she drinks her strawberry smoothie.
"He's just nearby as he had to do an errand." Airin answered without looking directly at Akane and just focused on her own drink.
Akane noticed the uneasiness coming off from Airin. She wonders if it has something to do with that. But she could care less if ever she lost a friend again, anyone who knew her true self will always leave anyway. She was used to it. People come and go in her life in just a blink of an eye. But somehow she feels sad if she lost Airin. She really likes her new friend. Maybe this time, she'll really make an effort to make them stay.
Akane flipped her phone open and started typing a long message. And a minute after that someone's message tone was ringing loudly.
**Master! You have a message! You have a message!**Airin forgot that she turn it back on when she put it on silent mode back in the restaurant.
Everyone was looking at her weirdly while Rena just silently laughs at Airin rummaging her bag nervously.
Airin flip her phone open but her smile turned into a worried frown when she saw the sender of the message.
She looked at Akane who was whistling as she looks around the street.
Airin reads the long message carefully and when she finished she looked up at Akane. This time, Akane was looking at her with a very warm smile on her face. She smiled at her in return and nods her head to get her feelings across.
Akane grinned widely as she saw Airin nod, giving an answer to her question in her message.
In just a few minutes Mr. Hata arrived. Mr. Hata went out of the car to greet the girls.
"Sorry, Did you wait long?" He asked Airin like a worried father asking her daughter.
"Not at all." Airin smiled at him.
Mr. Hata smiled at Airin and helped them put the groceries at the car's compartment. Jurina also started folding her bike.
Airin offered Akane to sit in the front so that she can sit comfortably without anyone accidentally bumping on her foot.
Rena and Jurina helped put the groceries at the back while Airin helped Akane get comfortable in the front seat.
As Airin was helping her, Akane suddenly broke the silence between them and said, "Thank you." Akane said simply.
Airin looked at her and smiles at Akane.
Rena sat at the far left of the back seat while Jurina and Mr. Hata were still busy fitting the groceries and her bike in the compartment.
Airin opened the door of the back seat and was surprised to see Rena already sitting there. She was about to close it when Rena spoke, "Airin."
"Y-Yes???" Airin immediately bent down again when she heard her name.
"Sit beside me?" Rena said in both a question and a commanding tone.
Airin was surprised but she didn't hesitate as she thought she would regret it if she didn't take this chance.
Airin went inside the car and sat beside Rena but still an inch away to avoid contact.
Rena smiles as she notices how thoughtful Airin is. How she will give her enough space and avoid contact at all cost. But even though this action makes her heart flutter, it makes her hurt too. She wants to be closer to Airin and she knows she can do it but somehow something is still preventing her from doing so. She wants to be 100% sure of what she feels before making any actions.
Jurina and Mr. Hata finally finished fitting the groceries at the back and went to their seats. Jurina was surprised to see Airin and Rena sitting beside each other.
"Neechan?" Jurina asked worriedly to her sister.
"It's fine." Rena smiled at her and Jurina just nods.
The ride on their way home was full of laughter thanks to Akane's silly stories. Even Mr. Hata was having fun listening to her.
"You are a funny kid." Mr. Hata said as he laughs.
"Why, thank you sir~" Akane said in her horrible British accent which earned another laugh from the people inside the car.
"That's so bad!" Jurina laughs at she spoke.
"Why don't you try it then!" Akane said in her horrible accent again.
"I certainly can!" Jurina said in her own British accent which is nothing like it and just sounded so weird.
Everyone laughed so hard at Jurina.
"See! You can't do it either! Haha!" Akane laughs hysterically.
"That was horrible." Rena said as she too laughs at her sister.
"Ehhh? Even you, neechan?!" Jurina pouted at her sister.
"I can't help it, it was just so bad!" Rena said to her sister as she tries so hard not to laugh.
"Mou!! Try it then! Let's see what you got!" Jurina challenged her sister.
"Eh? I'm shy." Rena said shyly.
"Ha! You just can't do it! You coward!" Jurina teased her sister.
Rena sighed and said in her perfect British accent, "I am not. And I absolutely can do it."
Everyone was surprised to hear Rena. It was as if she was born with a British tongue. They were all clapping at her.
"Haaa...Haaa... T-That was perfect! Say something again!! I want to hear more!" Airin was super excited and forgot that there were other people around them.
"Ehh???" Rena was shocked at Airin's reaction but somehow she thinks it's cute.
"Haha! She started again. Our little pervert." Mr. Hata said.
"I knew she was a pervert! Haha! I smelled it on her!" Akane said as she laughs.
"What? what do you mean by smelled it on her? You are both so weird." Jurina shook her head.
"What do you want me to say, Airin?" Rena tilted her head and looked at Airin who was still staring at her in awe, totally oblivious of the conversation around her.
"Anything!!" Airin said excitedly and then grabs her phone secretly.
Rena was thinking what to say when she suddenly thought of the perfect one.
Rena smirked and then said in her perfect accent, "Master, How was today? Did you have fun?" She smiled sweetly after that.
"Haaa...Haaa...!!! Yes!!! It was fun!!!!" Airin was overly excited and was totally in cloud nine when she heard Rena call her master. Something she was always dreaming about.
Rena was just laughing and was happy to see Airin's reactions. Akane and Mr. Hata was laughing at Airin too while one person was unhappy.
Jurina was disgusted by Airin but she found it a bit funny as well. She slaps Airin lightly on the head.
"Stop being a pervert! Especially on my sister!" Jurina glared at Airin who was so surprised.
"S-Sorry..." Airin was still in shock of what happened. Did Jurina just slapped her on the head in a joking way?
"Stop being mean Jurina." Rena said while still laughing.
"Tsk." Jurina looked away and laughed.
After a while everyone's energy went down the drain and the girls were all feeling sleepy. Even the hyper energetic Akane was sleeping soundly. Jurina was asleep as she laid her head on the window. Only Mr. Hata and Rena was awake.
Even Airin started to doze off and her head was moving back and forth, and side to side.
Rena smiles as she watch how Airin would wake up every time her head falls.
Rena stared at the sleeping Airin and thought to herself,
"She looks so cute even when she's asleep...How can someone be this cute?" Rena grabbed her phone and took a picture of Airin's cute sleeping face.
Rena couldn't help but blush even more as she captures this very precious moment.
As she looks at the photo, she also looked at the other pictures that she took earlier in the restaurant.
There was this picture that was before Airin made the weird faces. She had her eyes closed as she gets ready. Unknown to Airin, Rena took a photo of her then.
As Rena stares at the picture, she noticed that her heart was beating fast and that her face was so warm because. she's blushing. She rubs her cheeks as she holds her phone on her other hand.
Rena smiled and made the picture her phone wallpaper.
She looked at Airin again who was sleeping, Airin's head fell back and her face was facing Rena.
Rena stared some more and memorized Airin's beautiful features. She stared at her eyelashes, her nose and down to her glossy thin lips. She also noticed that Airin has a lot of moles on her face. Her heart tightens at the sight she's seeing. Airin looks so beautiful, Rena thought to herself.
After a few more minutes of staring, Rena didn't noticed that they already arrived at their destination until Mr. Hata spoke.
"Wake up everyone, we're here!" Mr. Hata said loudly.
Airin woke up but still refused to open her eyes. Rena who saw this blushed at how cute Airin looked. Jurina and Akane immediately woke up at the sound of Mr. Hata's voice.
Rena looked away blushing when Airin finally opened her eyes and the first thing or person she saw was Rena who was staring at her.
Airin blushed as well and immediately sat up properly.
All of them went out of the car and thanked Mr. Hata for giving them a ride.
"Just message me okay?" Mr. Hata said to Airin.
"I will." Airin smiled at him and waved goodbye.
The four of them went inside the Matsui's residence.
