CHAPTER 8“Minna..” he spoke to them and remove his glasses “Glad your all here..”
“Riku how is she?” Kai dash towards him
“They are both safe now kai..” riku patted him “Good thing acchan is very much healthy as well as the baby..The exercise really does help eh?” he winks at the guy “The baby really hold on to her mother..In a moment she will be now transfer in the private ward, we still need to admit her”
They all out a deep sigh hearing the good news “I shall follow right away in acchan’s ward, I need to discuss the pros and cons about it..”
Kai was very relief hearing his friend’s info “Riku..Arigatou..I really can’t express my gratitude..”
“That’s my job kai and acchan was very brave, she tolerates all the pain because we didn’t gave her any medication because of her situation and she remained conscious, didn’t even closed her eyes.”
Few minutes passed one of the nurse gave them the signal that the patient is well prepare and they‘re all allowed to visit her in the room. Kai entered first, as he opens the door he immediately saw his girl lying on the bed.
“Atsuko…” quickly holding her hands
“Kai…Gomen..I made a reckless move and..”
“Shhh..Don’t say no more it’s not your fault..I know what happened and please don’t mind that for now, I want you to rest..” he touches her tummy “You did a great job too little one..Keep holding to mommy until the last day ok?” talking to his baby at the time he can’t help shed his tears while looking at her.
As Riku entered the room he then explains the situation “Acchan I want you to promise me to be more healthy than ever and please refrain from having such deep emotions, kai I know your taking care of her but this time make it full time, be at her side as possible because her current situation now although she endure the bleeding it might happen again if overdo it and I don’t want that to happen because I maybe can’t handle it..Do I make myself clear to the both of you?” the couple nodded to him
“Arigatou riku..” acchan
“Kai..from now on you must watch acchan always and I want you to take a leave in the company to make sure her safety, don’t worry I still can handle the company I’m not that old you know..” his father telling him.
“Thanks Dad..I owe you this time..”
“We shall send you some maids in your home too, I don’t want acchan to handle the household chores anymore and I’m making sure of this” his mom added
“Atsuko we can do this right?” he planted a kiss on her forehead
“Unn..as long as your with me..”
After two days acchan was finally release from the hospital and back to her same routine but this time she’s just randomly visits the store to take a lot of bed rest, exercise and arranging the nursery room for their upcoming first born. Same as kai he obeys his father’s advice to take a leave in his work so that he can surely guard her beloved’s safety.
“Atsuko…What do you prefer about the baby’s gender?”
“Hnnn..Any..As long as it’s healthy..”
“Hai that’s the most important one..Maybe we should think some names..”
“Kai..I want you to name the baby..I want you to be the one to choose it..” she smiles
“Eh? Sure? How about we share?”
“No..I’m giving it to you..” She kisses him on the lips that made kai agree no more, he just can’t resist acchan that anything she says he will always agree.
“Alright..This is a hard task..I really need to think it carefully..”
“Maybe you should list all the your favorite words to create a good one..” acchan giving him a hint “Sou..That would be great..” he replied
“ano..Atsuko..”
“Hai?” not looking at him because she’s busy putting some designs on the crib
“I have something to give you..Forgive me I just can’t help it, I really want to give this on your birthday next week but it excites me a lot..”
She turned around facing him “ Nani? You’re excitement really dominates you takahashi..”
“Your now a takahashi too”
“Ow..I forgot..”
“Atsuko! Don’t you forget that..You had my name now..” he pouted
“Just teasing..What is that something that you want to give?”
“Actually..This..” he showed a necklace that has a twin heart pendant “My grandma gave this to me before she died..She said to me that I must only gave this necklace to the girl whom I will love for the rest of my life..so I decided to customize it before giving it to you..I embark our names on it kaixatsuko just like our rings..” he gave it to her
“So wonderful kai..Thank you..” giving her innocent smile before she hugs him
“Let me put it on you..” Kai kissed her neck leaving her a mark there after he puts the necklace “I shall give you another present next week I guess..”
“No need…This is already much..And I really like it..By the way on my birthday..I just want to celebrate it as simple as possible..Maybe a dinner would do..” she suggested
“Really? I was planning to have a party..”
“Just reserve that in a special moment..”
“But you’re birthday is special too..”
“In my situation now, I don’t want some crowded events..I want a solemn moment..”
“Gomen..I didn’t consider that..” he pleaded
“Daijoubu desu..I promise that when the baby comes out..I shall be the one to spoil you..Like that?”
“Very much my darling..” he made a quick response on her grinning and they kiss again like there’s no tomorrow, everyday doing that moment as sweet as before, even sweeter I mean.
The next week came so fast and today it was her birthday, as promised they made it a very simple celebration the only guests are their family and their closest friends. It was half past noon when they started it, when the others are busy talking to acchan, kai can’t calm himself waiting something on the front gate.
“Kai dude? Not yet? I told you to order those earlier..” riku talks to him in low volume so that the others can’t hear them.
“I should have believe you riku..gahhh their so late! Maybe I should fetch it myself..”
“Are you sure?”
“I guess so..Maybe few more minutes when it’s still doesn’t arrive I should go.. ”
Indeed it really doesn’t arrive what he’s been waiting so the small guy decided to fetch what he ordered. “Atsuko..I just need to get something for you..”
“But there’s nothing I ask..”
“No there’s something missing on your birthday and I need to get it..I’d really ordered it..but it seems their late so I need to get it myself..”
“Kai…..” she pouted but the guy still claim what he had to do, so acchan let him, kissing her in the forehead “Happy birthday again atsuko..Take care and don’t eat too much sweets..” he smiled sweetly to her, acchan looks at him till he start the car engine while his window was still open waving each other.
Hours came by and it’s almost night still kai doesn’t come back, she’s trying to call him but no answer. Acchan felt some uneasy while yuko and the other’s were trying to calm her because it’s not good to her.
“He’s gone too long..I’m worried..”
“There there acchan..Maybe it was really a huge surprise for you..” yuko
“But still..it’s been 3 hours already..”
“Alright I’m going to check on him acchan..You girls stay here..” Riku “What happen to that guy..The shop isn’t that far away..” he mumbled
“Riku..Don’t be like kai..Go straight here right away as long as you sees him” yuko reminding him
“Hai yuuchan..” he winks
While riku is driving he was trapped in a big traffic, he decided to ask some info what causes the traffic, one of the private vehicle driver told him that there was an accident not far from where they are, so he walk meters away to tend to look the incident because he’s a doctor maybe he can help that’s what he thought. Upon his vision, he can’t see clearly the exact scene so he still walks closer. Riku gasped as he saw the car, he’s sure that it was kai’s vehicle, the color, the design and the plate number. So rapidly runs toward the location and showed his identity as a doctor to the police so that he can crossed the police line.
“What happen here sir?” he asked the police
“This truck came along and overtake on the road and unfortunately this car was hit.” The police pointing at kai’s car
“Where’s the person here?” he felt his own voice shaking
“The rescue team was leading him on the way to the nearest hospital..” hearing this without any words he dash to the said hospital, he proclaimed himself to be with the person because apart from being a doctor he was his friend. So they allowed him to do what he can help.
It was indeed kai as he saw his friend lying with much blood on his face coming from his head “Kai..Oh God why did this happen..” riku thinks only one thing now of how he could say this to acchan.
On their home their anxiousness increases every time an hour pass. When Yuko’s mobile rang that made all of them look at her before answering the call. “It’s riku..” She said “Riku kun?” he heard his girlfriend’s voice, Riku decided to call yuko first because he just don’t know how to say it to acchan.
“Yuuchan..” she can feel there’s something’s wrong
“Where are you? Have you found kai?”
“hai..I found him..”
“Phew..That’s good sweetheart..So are you where are you guys now? It’s late you know and we’ve been waiting here like almost 4 hours..”
“Yuuchan..I found kai..But in the hospital..He got an accident and his critical..”
“Riku! That’s not a good joke!”
“Just when did I tell you a joke ever since we’ve met? None right? I’m serious and I’m more worried about acchan..” yuko drafted her breath hearing her boyfriend’s confession
“Yuko? What happen? Something wrong?” acchan walks to her, riku can hear their conversation as yuko didn’t end the call yet, she just put her hand down still holding her mobile.
“Acchan..It’s kai…”
“Why? What about him????”
“He’s on the hospital..He got an accident..” yuko hold her hands, acchan felt her knees weakened and bend unconsciously, miichan then catches her and made her sit on the couch while they gave them water, she was trembling, her heart was beating so fast that she can hear it inside she felt she wanted to give birth for the impulsive pain, her hands were shaking catching her own breath.
“Calm down..I know it’s not the right word to say but just for the baby you need to calm down physically and emotionally..” yuko told her
“Yuko….” She release her weep hardly “I wanna see him..Please take me to kai..onegai..”
“Riku says..We can go there tomorrow..Because he was still in the surgery right now..”
She had no choice but to follow what the expert says but undeniably she can’t sleep at all, waiting for the sun to burst its rays so that she could go to her beloved. When she got there, along with her in-laws comforting her so much that she could really feel their sympathy towards her and encouraging her to be strong for the sake of the child she’s bearing.
5 days past still kai is sleeping on the ward, acchan comes there every day because she was not allowed to stay overnight. She was the one who always stays with him and talking to him randomly anything just to ease the sadness and pain she felt. Until the moment they’ve been waiting for, kai moved her hands it was a sign that he’s about to wake up, riku was there observing him until he lastly opens his eyes. He saw many faces looking at him, he’s in a white room he thinks, he can’t move well because of some apparatus still attached to his body the first thing he feels was he is hungry. He was happy when he saw his family his parents, his friends and someone unfamiliar to him that called his name.
“Kai..” she spoke his name “I’m so happy you’re awake..”
“My son..You made us worried..” He looks at her mother “Mom..What happen? Am I sick?” he’s curious
“You’ve had an accident kai and you were sleeping 5 days straight..” Riku explained
“Really?”
“Yes dude..You car was hit by a truck that made you critical..”
“Sou ka..”
“Kai..Feeling better right now? I’ve miss you so much..” acchan was crying in front of him, but he just look to her in curiosity trying to recall all the happenings where he replays all the faces in his brain before he said “Who are you?”
