OMG!!!!! I was enjoying my Friday night, thought I'd read some fanfics, and then BAM!!!

This! THIS!! This heart-attack, stroke inducing bit of news hits me like a bullet train!!

Ugh...

Shock aside, I think we can see where they're going with this. The reshuffling definitely has something to do with Maeda's graduation. Probably to ensure the popularity of AKB48 doesn't die out. They'll need to fill in that void with better quality performances and appealing members so fans won't lose interest. It'll definitely need some getting used to, but it's happened in 2009, so we'll survive.
The abolishing of team 4 may be due to the fact that they're ALL juniors. Like before, some senior members were transferred to the THEN new team B. Remember? They had seniors to guide them. But team 4 does not. So by doing this, Aki-P is probably hoping that they'll gain more. Each team will have seniors to guide them, whilst also having newer and "fresher" members. As for your favourite pairings being split up.....well look at it this way. It's not like they've graduated. They're still in the 48 family and we'll still be able to watch them.(I hope) And if they're such good friends like everyone says they are, then they'll still keep in touch no matter the different schedules and distance.
For senior members switching teams....Watanabe Mayu in team A? Wow....Are they grooming her to be the next ace? But the current Centre, Oshima Yuko is in team K and she's doing just fine. The best conclusion I can come up with, is that they are trying to even out the groups. Making sure there are enough popular members to interest fans in each team, while also having juniors that can be guided by their seniors. Like making sure everyone has an equal opportunity to shine? Since each group is equally divided in terms of skill and popularity? That is, if they can grasp it.
And the captain positions? Well, I'm guessing he's giving other members a chance to shine. For me, I think that the previous captains fulfilled their roles wonderfully. I don't know why some think that Kashiwagi Yuki isn't captain material. Testimonies from other members clearly proves she's a great leader. With the re-shuffling of the groups, it means that new leadership should also be elected in order to bring about a dramatic change. At least, I think that's what he's planning. With the previous captains, the teams will not have that "RESTART" that Aki-P is aiming for. So a COMPLETE change is inevitable.
I'm especially shocked with the transfers OUT of AKB48 though. THAT was the most shocking. If they're transferred cause they applied for the overseas study, then I'll respect their decision. But what's up with Oota Aika moving to HKT??!! Was it requested? Or is it some sort of back up for Sashihara over there? As for Takamina....well, only time will tell. Aki-P is DEFINITELY forcing fans to pay attention to the WHOLE 48 family. Not only AKB. What else could he gain by sending popular AKB members to newer groups such as JKT or SNH? That is, if the raging fans don't give up on AKB entirely. A bold but risky move as always. Sigh. I can't wait to see what happens on the last day of the concert.(Sarcastic)

One thing's for sure. 2012 is the year of change. 2013 will determine whether it's for better or worse....
