I'm sure he is doing this for world domination. He starts with asia... He may want to attrack new fans even though old fans don't like it...

Don't really feel well about that. I doubt those new fans would spend 125+ dollars per singles like existing Japanese fans

I dunno. I spent probably $200 on Manatsu no Sounds good! in order to vote. I'll probably buy the JKT and SNH releases just to support them too

I've been thinking the same as almond-san -after I spent some time to chill my head and heart from this shocking news- this shuffle was done to balanced the popularity level...
now the question is : will it works or not? I guess time will answer that question...

as for the members who got transfered to another country, I think -and hope- it's just a temporary as the part of "student transfer" program...

OMG!!!!! I was enjoying my Friday night, thought I'd read some fanfics, and then BAM!!!  :shocked This! THIS!! This heart-attack, stroke inducing bit of news hits me like a bullet train!!  :banghead: Ugh...  :badluck: Shock aside, I think we can see where they're going with this. The reshuffling definitely has something to do with Maeda's graduation. Probably to ensure the popularity of AKB48 doesn't die out. They'll need to fill in that void with better quality performances and appealing members so fans won't lose interest. It'll definitely need some getting used to, but it's happened in 2009, so we'll survive.

The abolishing of team 4 may be due to the fact that they're ALL juniors. Like before, some senior members were transferred to the THEN new team B. Remember? They had seniors to guide them. But team 4 does not. So by doing this, Aki-P is probably hoping that they'll gain more. Each team will have seniors to guide them, whilst also having newer and "fresher" members. As for your favourite pairings being split up.....well look at it this way. It's not like they've graduated. They're still in the 48 family and we'll still be able to watch them.(I hope) And if they're such good friends like everyone says they are, then they'll still keep in touch no matter the different schedules and distance.

For senior members switching teams....Watanabe Mayu in team A? Wow....Are they grooming her to be the next ace? But the current Centre, Oshima Yuko is in team K and she's doing just fine. The best conclusion I can come up with, is that they are trying to even out the groups. Making sure there are enough popular members to interest fans in each team, while also having juniors that can be guided by their seniors. Like making sure everyone has an equal opportunity to shine? Since each group is equally divided in terms of skill and popularity? That is, if they can grasp it.

And the captain positions? Well, I'm guessing he's giving other members a chance to shine. For me, I think that the previous captains fulfilled their roles wonderfully. I don't know why some think that Kashiwagi Yuki isn't captain material. Testimonies from other members clearly proves she's a great leader. With the re-shuffling of the groups, it means that new leadership should also be elected in order to bring about a dramatic change. At least, I think that's what he's planning. With the previous captains, the teams will not have that "RESTART" that Aki-P is aiming for. So a COMPLETE change is inevitable.

I'm especially shocked with the transfers OUT of AKB48 though. THAT was the most shocking. If they're transferred cause they applied for the overseas study, then I'll respect their decision. But what's up with Oota Aika moving to HKT??!! Was it requested?  Or is it some sort of back up for Sashihara over there? As for Takamina....well, only time will tell. Aki-P is DEFINITELY forcing fans to pay attention to the WHOLE 48 family. Not only AKB. What else could he gain by sending popular AKB members to newer groups such as JKT or SNH? That is, if the raging fans don't give up on AKB entirely. A bold but risky move as always. Sigh. I can't wait to see what happens on the last day of the concert.(Sarcastic)  :fainted:

One thing's for sure. 2012 is the year of change. 2013 will determine whether it's for better or worse....

What interest me more is the possibility of Takamina becoming part of management. I always thought that it would be nice if a member is included in management after their graduation or something. Now it might have been the case that we get one while Still being a member! The "Cabinet" she mentioned also interest me immensely. I believe this will bring a different perspective to management as well, which is always a good thing.

As for the reshuffle itself, I do not think it perfect, but not really unacceptable, as it is stated that it happened before, & was probably no less painful to members & fans as is this one. There were many surprise, especially some of the transfers to foreign sister groups, but hopefully it will all end up well. My hope is that the three transferred are on a study abroad program, & that it last no more than half a year.

I am really excited to see Ishida Anna in Team B thou; Anna never taking off is one of the biggest surprise to me within all AKB (the other being Sumire), & hopefully this move will help re-jump-start her carrer, as she is still only 16 & have potentials.

It probably really tough for the Team 4 members to have their team disbanded entirely. However, Team 4 always felt somewhat out of place for me; by having the youngster of Team 4 spread out between the original teams, this reshuffle offer future growth & stability to the original teams, instead of heading down a pathway of potentially having a Team 4 Goliath towering over the dwarfing & aging original teams. I do felt it is a bit unfair for Yuko to be named captain thou, as she do wished to graduate; hopefully Sayaka can be reinstated soon.

Hopefully, this will all lead to the betterment of AKB as an organization.

I'm wondering if, assuming new stages are going with the shuffle, we should start thinking of girls as not "Team Captain" but rather "Stage Captain".

Takahashi Minami was captain of A6
Shinoda Mariko will be captain of A7

Akimoto Sayaka was captain of K6
Oshima Yuko will be captain of K7

Kashiwagi Yuki was captain of B5
Umeda Ayaka will be captain of B6

Perhaps he'll be shuffling after each stage now. I think that would be really interesting.

^LOL! Nice catch!

Let's see... For my own piece of mind to get a better picture of the new teams.

Team A
Like: 7
Neutral: 10
Don't like: 5
Score: +2

Team K
Like: 4
Neutral: 13
Don't like: 6
Score: -2

Team B
Like: 7
Neutral: 9
Don't like: 7
Score: 0

So yeah, based on first impressions by the member list only I'd say New New Team A is my favorite by far at the moment.  :thumbup

Just realized the future of French Kiss may be at stake too!  :panic:

If you take out Takamina (who was moved to Queen of All) and the girls not in (or transferred out of) AKB, you get something very interesting:

K - Oshima Yuko
A - Watanabe Mayu
B - Kashiwagi Yuki

----
A - Shinoda Mariko
B - Kojima Haruna
K - Itano Tomomi

----
A - Kasai Tomomi
K - Kitahara Rie
B - Minegishi Minami

----
A - Yokoyama Yui
B - Umeda Ayaka

K - Akimoto Sayaka
----

First we have the girls evenly divided between the 3 teams to spread out popularity levels.

Then we have what I refer to as the "oh crap, all of Team A got voted and everyone else was SKE" shuffle:

K - Sato Amina
K - Kuramochi Asuka
B - Shimazaki Haruka
K - Masuda Yuka
B - Iwasa Misaki
K - Nakaya Sayaka
K - Nakata Chisato
K - Miyazaki Miho
K - Nagao Mariya
B - Fujie Reina
K - Kobayashi Kana
K - Maeda Ami
A - Tano Yuka
B - Katayama Haruka
K - Muto Tomu
B - Ishida Haruka
A - Matsui Sakiko
B - Yamauchi Suzuran
A - Nito Moeno
B - Oba Mina
B - Ichikawa Miori
B - Oya Shizuka
A - Sato Sumire
B - Komori Mika

I'm sorry almond, but I don't understand. Explain please?

I think I dehydrated a little. jesus christ.
I'm not unhappy with the shuffle-- i think that's how akip can maintain akb always "new" but getting used to this is gonna be hard. i no longer have a favorite team. i'm quite happy for mayuyu being in team A!

Just yesterday before falling asleep i was thinking about the reshuffle and thinking Kaoru suited team K. akip heard my prayers!!!!

- surprised hirata rina didn't get promoted. she's a sweetie.
- SNH sounds like a better idea than JKT, but Akicha's and Harugon's efforts will be much more appreciated there, honestly.
- happy for Marina! like i said the first time i saw her performing, she's good stage presence. I WANT TO THE MORE OF HER.
- team 4 disbandment was needed. they were a mess, i got really disappointed. :/

now let me die in a corner cuz i have way too many bitter feelings about this.

all gifs posted are by me.

Thinking about it, and I'm really trying to look at this positively now. I'm kind of excited for the new teams... It's also been revolving around my head lately after finding this news. I mean things like, "How well is Yuko going to lead as Team K's new captain?" or "How well Umeda Ayaka going to lead Team B?" or "How well is Mariko going do as Team A's new leader?" or "How are the music videos for Team A/K/B going to work out?" Oh, but members other than Jurina and Watanabe Miyuki being in two teams/groups is interesting as well. This will definitely get me to support other groups as well, eventually.

Before, I was just plain upset (silently crying mentally and causing myself a huge headache), thinking, "What the hell is going through Aki-P's head right now?" Somehow reading posts on this topic here and watching a few of AKB's documentaries like "The Future 1mm Ahead" made me feel better about it...

But for some reason, I feel really concerned for Paruru, even if she's still placed in a team... I don't think there's anything wrong with her right now that should make me worry, but I guess she would be considered my ex-Team 4 oshi...

Besides that, they'll still be making music videos that include all three teams somehow, right? So I think it'll be fine this way as well.

One last thing though, the only part I'm still upset about is Sae and other members, like Akicha, transferring to overseas sister groups and the said members graduating in the fall. (Or so I've heard...)

BUT OTP MUST NOT AND WILL NOT FALL. WE MUST KEEP SUPPORTING THEM. :fainted: :pleeease: :farofflook:

...SKE shuffling... I really hope it's not going to break my heart further. (Although I'll adapt.) I hope it doesn't affect Jurina too much either, she's had a lot of stress hasn't she?

Things I'm happy about:

  • Maria in Team K
  • Ryoka got promoted though I was hoping for a spot in K
  • Kitarie in SKE, mainly because of what Nishishi wrote in her blog so this is fine by me

Things I won't be looking forward to: possible SKE shuffle ugh it's coming, I just know. /sigh

Well this is surprising. I expected a shuffle but I didn't expect to groups overseas. Thoughts:

  • Saebro to SNH nnnnooooooo. She probably wanted to go, but will I ever see my bro again?
  • Yuko team captain. Aw yeah time to show some muscle. I liked Sayaka as captain and I thought she was fine at it, but time for Yuko to kick some ass.
  • Mocchi, Aamin, and Kaoru to team K. Oh yes Team K so stacked now with my favs, along with Yuka, Amina, and Rie. All is well in the house of K.
  • Going back to 3 teams 16 members each is great, back to the original concept.
  • This is forcing me to pretty much get into the sister groups too.

Crazy shuffle, but a necessary shuffle I think. They need stuff like this to keep fans on their toes, and not be stagnant. Aside from Saebro leaving  I'm pretty content at the shuffle I think.

Damn and it's only the first day of Dome. WTF else do they have to announce???

Ah, the good old "shuffles making everyone go t-rex" announcement.

Goes to Team B list... sees Umechan captain. ooook... getting pulled between feelings of joy and sadness. :nervous
Ah, Yuki is still there. Mayuyu sent to Team A. doh!

Looks at overall groups (throws away emotions).
Team A looks much stronger. Lotsa next-gen talent there.
Team K still has the main core at least. I think they'll rebuild faster than the others.
Team B gets shafted again, losing Mayu and Yuka. They also got a load of members I don't like in some way or another (probably a lot of ppl thinking that). At least they got a nice hopeful batch of Team 4'ers.

Aki-p did say some time ago "yeah, you could just stay like this and turn average. But you can also reset and go to the next level".
So even though I'm crazy about the Mayu/Yuki pair-up, it may be better for them to continue in individual areas. And it's not like they'll be away from each other long, they'll probably be in a lot of future singles/shows/stuff together.

All this member cross-grouping is making it complicated.

Also, Yui in NMB stuff. Massive laughter attack imminent. :D

I'm excited, for the most part. I think this will liven things up a little bit. The new Team A is so overpowered. So many awesome girls in A, can't wait! Team K looks interesting, too. Kaoru is a terrific addition. This Muto Tomu girl is also a rising star. Good that she's in, too. The new Team B looks very diverse. They could be VERY interesting. It really does feel like an upgrade all-around except for no Sae.

Sae to SNH is one thing I'm not happy about though. I think it's a waste of her time and talent. Akicha and Harugon to JKT is also a waste of time, but I'm not a Harugon fan and Akicha's sourpuss attitude at the senbatsu sosenkyo really put a damper on my fandom of her, so meh. :sweatdrop: The exchanged members so far are kinda cool I guess, with one exception that I'm SUPER excited about: Kitarie to SKE. I love Kitahara so much, but I feel like she hit a wall inside of AKB. There was just no room or way for her to really express herself. This move to SKE opens up a huge door for her. I'm VERY happy about this. It gives her another dynamic to thrive in and I think she could do very well in SKE. I am very hopeful this will be fruitful for her because she more than deserves it.

I think tomorrow, SKE is going to get it as seen from that seemingly unintentional edit of Ishida Anna on the SKE web site. I really love Team S and Team KII and would prefer they didn't get shuffled, but if it happens, then it fucking happens. 2009 proved that Team Shuffles can bring new life and energy into these groups. While it's not what I want it may not be a bad thing, and ultimately, I'm all for whatever keeps these groups alive and well and interesting for as long as possible. We have a terrific set of girls in these groups and team swaps don't change that. :thumbup

Edit: Oh, and as for Team 4 disbanding, as much as I love love LOVE some of the Team 4 girls I'm not sad to see that happen at all. Team 4 was shafted form beginning to end. Them being absorbed into AKB for real will be a good thing.

Change is always a little threatening, but I still love the AKB48 empire personally, so I'll roll with the punches and see what happens.

I prettied up the first post, to make it easier to read, and find the placement of members.

Anyway, I used to favor A/K over B, because Mayu alone couldn't save B for me. However, it looks like A will be the odd one out this time, even with two of my Oshi Trinity in there. B is looking pretty good overall, and K is just stacked. It'll be interesting to see what happens with SKE tomorrow (if anything, but dat Anna pic), and what they could possibly announce after this. New stages sure would be dandy, though. MaYui unit, I WANNA BELIEVE~

EDIT: color-coded first post, with previous team reference

Woke up to this... WTF AKI-P TROLL! :banghead:

Why is Akicha going to JKT~~~~~ sadface*
What is the point of sending members overseas? HOW DO THEY EVEN TALK TO EACH OTHER.
What is the point of going back to three teams instead of sticking to 16/team?
Yukirin gets replaced, Takamina general manager? What does that even mean, managing duties?
That's not really the responsibility of a performer.

what a big shuffle going on here. team A K B are completely reconstructed with new faces and switching :nervous
yuko become captain  :thumbup masuda yuka n matsubara natsumi back to team K  :thumbup
umechan captain  :thumbup
big shock about kami 7 members transfer to other team  :O  despite their big role in their team ( nyan nyan, mayuyu, sae )
akicha, harugon, saechan........ go get em and become ace  :thumbup

never think of shuffle as promotion or demotion because each team carries personality not ranks.

wonder how will AKB48 perform on 2nd day.

Why is Akicha going to JKT~~~~~ sadface*

To pursue her dreams. To move forward and take on a new challenge.

What is the point of sending members overseas? HOW DO THEY EVEN TALK TO EACH OTHER.

To guide the others into becoming better idols. Teach them how everything works. JunLin in Morning Musume caught on quickly enough. I'm sure Akicha and Haruka will receive a warm welcome.

What is the point of going back to three teams instead of sticking to 16/team?

Having regular unders for the same stage will improve the quality of the performances and it won't tire them out as much. For example, Oshima Ryoka subbed in pretty much every stage every day. That's rough. By having three oversized teams they won't have to rely on random KKS as much, because the regular team members can sub for each other in case someone's absent.

Yukirin gets replaced, Takamina general manager? What does that even mean, managing duties?
That's not really the responsibility of a performer.

Takamina has moved beyond being a performer. She's the backbone of a 300 member group. She's an entertainment figure as well. This new position, whatever it entails, will surely benefit her in her future career, whatever it may be.
