Chapter 10
"Nee Minami, do you want to go out today?" Tomochin said while undoing the wrap of the bento I brought "The doctor said that I will be discharged today, right?"
I opened the blinds of the hospital room. The weather's nice on a cold Sunday morning.
"Lemme think about it Tomochin. You shouldn't push yourself too much, okay? Besides, there's a lot of no-class-days this week" she gave me that too-cute-to-disregard pout. I really wanted to go, but she needs to recover.
It's been two days since. Acchan, what happened? I kept asking what happened that day. I know that it was all just a miscommunication, why does it have to end up like this? I thought I found someone worth keeping. I thought that every day's a perfect day, but I guess nothing's perfect right? My heart is still hurting. It hurts so badly.
"I'll just go outside Tomochin.." I turned my back on her, hiding my eyes that are starting to burst in tears.
"Okay" Tomochin answered "Please make it short, don't make the food wait"
Is it too late?
Is it too soon?
Or
We're just not the right fit?
It's 3 in the afternoon. I started fixing her things, since her parents is out-of-town because of work. They asked me to watch over Tomochin until they come back.
"Nee Minami"
"What is it Tomochin?" I asked.
"Take me somewhere later. Please?" I guess she really wants to go out. "Even if it's just for a while"
I guess it wouldn't hurt to say yes.
"Okay okay" I gave her a smile.
I'm pushing her wheelchair she's been sitting on. 'She hasn't fully recovered' said the doctor earlier.
It seems that there's a small bazaar over the park, so we decided to go there. There's a lot of people, it seems it's a Xmas bazaar.
"Nee Minami, can we look around for a bit?" she asked
"Sure Tomochin. But we should go home after a while ok? It's getting dark already" I answered.
She nodded happily.
We stopped at every shop that we see. There's a lot of wonderful yet strange things that are being sold. We tried some food that are new to us like cabbage flavored ice-cream that is surprisingly good, chili-flavored candy from Mexico which is sweet instead of spicy and a whole lot more. We laughed and smiled at each other. We shared each other stories that are quite nostalgic-like. I completely forgot everything that happened the other day, thank you Tomochin.
Suddenly, fireworks shot up to the sky in synchronized patterns and motions. We both looked up in the beauty of the sky that is glittering above us. I took a glance on Tomochin's entranced look, she looks cute and her lips are still pouting. This memory, I will surely recall this constantly. She made me happy, I hope I made her happy as well.
"Tomochin"
"What is it Minami?"
I gave her a kiss on her cheek.
"I'm happy, I hope that I made you happy tonight"
She stood up and she wrapped her arms around me.
"Thank you Minami" she whispered
"Tomochin.."
"Minami?"
"I could get used to this."
"Get used to what?"
"To what are we doing right now. This hugging and kissing"
"..."
I closed my eyes and kissed her lips under the color-filled sky.
Soon these feelings that I still have for 'her' will fade like the seasons.
