Oh gosh, best news all day! Tomochin's participation was really unexpected. At the rate she's been promoting Paruru lately, I thought she was putting her hopes on her "little sister" and wouldn't be joining the election.

Like what sakura_drop_ said, the election is getting better and better indeed! Personally, I want all the old guards to participate so that we can see how the newer gen members stack up to them and how much their popularity has grown in the past year. There's no point in the older gens giving way to them. If the young ones want the top spots, they've got to snatch it from them. Show us your passion and determination!

I saw this on Tumblr:

    For those intending to vote from overseas in the AKB election:  A fan from HK apparently asked Togasaki at handshakes today if votes with an overseas IP will be counted.. and he confirmed that the answer is no, even if the page says that you’ve voted.

    If you’re buying CDs/codes and intending to vote, make sure you use a Japanese proxy or VPN when you do so, just in case.

So... if this is true my votes didn't count last year which sucks 'cos I bought the singles only to get the voting tickets 
I don't know if I bother to vote this year at all...

^ That claim has been debunked by the very same tumblr user.

Just got another report in.  My all-powerful TList got someone else also present at the handshake right now to go confirm/deny the previous report with Togasaki, turns out that said HK fan misunderstood.  What Togasaki said was that there’s no voting site apart from the Japanese voting site, but that it’s perfectly fine to vote from overseas.

(That said, a lot of my TList are gonna use VPN/Proxies just in case.)

I'm massively disappointed in these members. I left a couple out who I feel had a valid excuse (injury, etc.).

- Komori: she actually ranked last time! How snooty is that to not participate while you actually have a decent chance of ranking.
- Mukaida: wtf! You're supposed to be Team KII's ace. Sure, you got surpassed by a lot of the girls, but that's supposed to motivate you to improve yourself!
- Fujimoto: After her epic appearance at Kouhaku this would be the perfect time to participate!
- Kishino: I don't get it.
- Yamamoto: She aims for a career in variety... Ok, fine, but why not take every single opportunity to get some time in the spotlights? She appeared in Geinin and various other shows... it's not a mission impossible.
- Harugon: super weak. This has management meddling all over it as I mentioned somewhere above.

On the plus side, all the top members are in! I honestly didn't expect that. Plus with the addition of some former members and some controversy in the form of Nacchan, it's going to be an entertaining event after all!
