NOOOOOOOOO! BRAZIL :(  France really shut down the "inos" ... dude Ronaldhino and his "R" headband  had the free kick and couldn't make it. All that intense battle at the end! Where was that in the beginning!!

Just thought I'd throw this out there, just before the Brazil & France game the commentators said the French team are like the Edmonton Oilers an 8th seed. I thought it was cool that the Oilers were mentioned.

Brazil played like shit and didn't deserve to win. I wanted them to beat France so bad though ... :(
Brazil had no teamwork and no confidence so whenever they tried to attack, they'd screw up and lose possession. It was not the usual Brazilian style football we're used to seeing :(

I think it's better for the tournament as a whole to have the world favourites out now. Now we're guaranteed a different winner than predictable Brazil. As expected, the English media have found two scapegoats responsible for England's loss yesterday, Sven and C.Ronaldo. Sven for, well, being Sven and C.Ronaldo as responsible for sending Rooney into a rampage. HELLO?! Lest we forget Rooney's paper thin temper. I would imagine putting on different color socks in the morning would make Rooney into a tyrant. And David Beckham announced he's no longer the England captain. Well, he certainly tried, but Beckham does sum up the England team - hyped up, all style with no substance.

They were average at best. I think both Brazil and England were way too over-hyped before the tournament. And yes the teams certainly looked good on paper. I mean for England you've got a defense of Terry, Ferdinand and Neville, a midfield consisting of Beckham, Lampard, Gerrard and attacking roles in Rooney and Owen. World class players, but it all means nothing if you haven't got the teamwork down. Sven's been implementing risky formations during the tournament and look where it's got them. There's also the heavy dependency on Rooney which I don't like. Rooney's not an all out forward, so why was Sven placing him up there by himself at the deep end of the pitch, solely depending on long balls from his team-mates? It's an idiotic decision to place your goal scoring chances on a player who's not an all-out striker and only recovered from a major injury whilst the tournament was running! All of the England players play much, much better for their respective club teams.

yeah, im really pissed about the results of yesterday's matches... esp since i had brazil winning overall, how the fuck do they lose to france, who barely made it out of group??

ive got italy over france, germany over portugal; germany taking the cup, now.

though with brazil and england gone, i almost dont want to watch the last of the matches...

The English media and players love to find scapegoats other than themselves to blame on for their lousy performances. The last time I checked, they blamed on dryness of pitches in German stadiums for their bad play. XDD

Isn't Portugal playing France, and Germany playing Italy.
In that case most likely France will win over Portugal if they play as well as the last game against Brazil.
Hard to decide whether Germany or Italy will be in because they are both good teams.

But I predict the final will be Germany vs France.

works for me too...quarterfinals started with defeat of my favorites Argentina (how could that bloody coach substitute Riquelme?!), but with elimination of England and Brazil, it's all fine...though, I'm lost with no team to cheer for, so let's say france and germany are lesser of four evils :D...anyway, it would be either:
          1st title for Portugal
          2nd title for France
3rd title for Italy (edited: it would be 4th actually, so this post is useless :D)
or 4th one for Germany (somehow interesting >.>)

Japan's most successful soccer star Nakata Hidetoshi (29) shocked the country with the announcement of his retirement yesterday. He issued a statement on his official website, nakata.net, saying "About six months ago, I decided to end my ten-year career in professional football, making the World Cup in Germany my final event before retirement. There was no one particular event that triggered this. And there is no single reason behind my decision." This was no doubt an effort to dispel speculation that he was devastated by Japan's lackluster performance at the World Cup. He added, "But what I can say now is that I felt that it was time for me to graduate from the journey of professional football, and set out on a new journey." The media are already speculating on the chances of a career in the media. Nakata currently has sponsorship contracts with five major companies and is a regular in TV commercials. He is in the same class as Major League baseball stars Ichiro and Matsui Hideki, making ¥50-100 million a year for commercials. While sports stars usually lose commercial value when they retire, Nakata's World Cup performance and analysis and the timing of his retirement are thought to have sponsors and media outlets coveting him even more.

Nakata retiring!!! and I just bught his jersey this world cup!! ASSHOLE!! FUCKING FAGGET!!

ya... I just read the news today too that Nakata announced his retirement.
Really does it have something to do with his commercial contracts? or just that he has something more important to do such that he stopped his career?
