You mad bro?Don't be hating!
Nice to see a Western borrow word (because Chinese is the major source of linguistic influence)
that isn't English!
As a Francophile when I first saw the name in print,
I thought pronunciation was
Ahn-zher-mehBut anytime you have an R or L in a borrow word, you
Have to be ready for how the Japanese will pronounce.
As a native English speaker, when I first saw borrow words in
Katakana, the English based words were not too difficult to understand,
But from other languages were a challenge sometimes.
Of course in this case, the name is from a blending of two words,
so technically this is not a borrow word...but borrow words made from
two or more words do exist.
A couple of French based borrow words
that you will see quite often in entertainment
related threads are:
コント / konto which is from conte, a short play
And
アンケート /ankēto which is from enquête which is questionnaire, survey
The key to enjoying Japanese borrow words and phrases
is that even though borrowing from another language, the rules and
grammar of that language are thrown out, cuz yer in Japan now!
Good job Kana chan!
