Haruka's lip stung blood still fresh against her skin and the cut on the side of her forehead throbbed but she didn't care because none of the pain compared to the butterflies that fluttered in her stomach and nothing could take her smile away. She had gotten the girl the girl she didn't know she even wanted until today and as she peddled on her light blue bike back to her house at a slow pace she couldn't help but want to scream with joy.
flashback Haruka knocked on Yui's door after she had parked her bike outside the front of the house making sure to put a lock around the wheel so no one could ride off with it and waited patiently. The two of them had planned to spend the day together something the two of them haven't had a chance to do since Yui became the girlfriend of Kai who Haruka just so happened to hate. Haruka had no idea why she would chose him out of every other human being on the planet yes he was nice to look at but he was disgusting on the inside Haruka had told Yui this plenty of times but she ignored Haruka much to her annoyance. The door opened revealing Yui who once seeing Haruka erupted in to a smile and pulled her into a tight hug only for the warm embrace to be interrupted in between by the boyfriend Kai. He put his arm around Haruka's shoulder and took her in to the Yui's home rubbing Haruka's head affectionately but she knew he was only doing this to show Yui that the two of them were in fact getting a long but in reality it was the opposite the two of them hated each other and you all knew that.
He lead Haruka in to the kitchen and by the smell she could tell that he had been smoking and most likely influencing Yui to do the same as it had became apparent that a week or so a go that she had took up the habit either that or she was doing it purely to please Kai. Haruka had tried to stop her but it had started a argument one that neither of them cared for so it stopped as quickly as it started. Yui walked past her best friend and hopped up on to the kitchen counter and was given a already lit cigarette by Kai. Haruka watched awkwardly as she placed it in between her lips and tapped next to her for you to sit. Haruka slowly walked up to the counter and climbed up crossing her legs. Yui smirked and pulled the cigarette out from her lips and offered it to her friend. Although hesitant at first Haruka didn't want to disappoint and she didn't enjoy the pressure that Yui and Kai were giving shee took it and placed it in her mouth. Her first cigarette. She inhaled and soon started to cough forgetting to actually blow our the smoky air. Yui chuckled then patted Haruka on the back while her free hand took the horrible thing away from the salty girl. Haruka laughed also amused and just smiled simply enjoying the moment. Their eyes locked like usual and the way she looked at Haruka was un describable. The pair had both forgotten Kai was even there until they heard the fridge open and the tinkering of beer bottles as he had pulled on out and opened it. He took a long swig and fixed the cigarette that was behind his ear threatening to fall off. Haruka turned her head and met his gaze which quickly forced her to look away due to the intense hate that it shown. Her bare legs were now the most interesting thing in the world as she played with her light blue jean shorts hoping that Yui would suggest that they all do something else. Haruka wanted to be alone with her but he wrecked it like usual probably making up some stupid excuse which she of course bought Haruka wanted to ask her why but opted to leave it time with her best friend with her boyfriend was better than none at all. Even if she was the uncomfortable third wheel that had to witness his disgusting display of affection that looked less that romantic. Yui looked uncomfortable and disgusted all at the same time when he did oddly.
It didn't take long until they had found themselves in the middle of God knows where after Yui had suggested they all go for a drive so they all got in to Kai's car and ended up in a place that was practically deserted of human life forms the only sign showing that they had in fact been there were the empty beer bottles and cans scattered across the floor. Kai had took out a baseball bat and ball from the trunk of the car and hit the ball along with what was on floor through the air th noises of every hit sounding like he was hitting them that hard to give Haruka a message. He also had a beer on the ground that was half full he would drink from every now and then. Haruka stood still in her spot not knowing what to do feeling out of place but that was soon erased the moment Yui stood steps away from and started dancing. Haruka thought that she had gone deaf for a moment since there wasn't any music running through her ears she then realized that no music was actually playing. Yui was dancing graciously mesmerizing the younger girl and her eyes met Haruka's and once again for the nth time since the two of them met it was like they were the only two people in the world. It was like she was dancing for Haruka.
An hour or so later everyone had arrived back at Yui's home and it was decided that they would all jump in the pool to cool off in the hot weather. The two friends were getting changed in Yui's room which was pretty plain in design. Simple white walls a wardrobe on your right the bed in the center of the room pushed against the wall and a dresser in front of it on the opposite wall with a mirror on top that had two pictures pinned some how against it. One a picture of Yui and her family the other of Haruka and Yui smiling she remembered the day it was took it was a couple of months after the two of you had met when they were 5 Yui's parents had took it and she wanted a copy instantly Haruka were surprised she still had it. But the fact that she still had made her heart leap and the seeing no pictures of Kai made it even better. She snapped out of her thoughts and began to get changed in to her bikini which was plain black and as she went to take off her top she caught the sight of Yui'ss bare back in the mirror. Haruka couldn't look away. Haruka didn't want to. Yui had noticed her look and locked eyes with Haruka again giving a smile that was reserved for Haruka a soft calm happy smile that not even Kai got.
The pair where in the pool hair soaking wet next to each other playful smiles on their faces. Haruka dipped her head in the water and put some water in her mouth bringing her head back out and spitting it like a fountain in Yui's face. She began to laugh and went to retaliate but the moment was interrupted the moment Kai decided to jump in the pool with that big of splash the two of them separated. Haruka rolled her eyes frustrated and swam to the side watching as Kai picked Yui up and dumped her back in the water to say she looked pissed off was an understatement. Haruka had gotten out of the pool a minute or so later Yui soon following with a whining Kai behind her who made it a point as he got out of the pool to glare it the innocent Haruka. Yui sat with Haruka at the edge of the pool Kai had decided to lay down on when of the seats that you can decide how far back you can go. It did not take long for alcohol to be in his hand and soon sliding down his throat. Haruka watched his every move and tried to listen to Yui at the same time but her focus was more on the blonde headed boy who was clearly drunk. He got up and struggled to walk as he went inside the house most likely to throw up and when his eyes met Haruka's and she couldn't help but cross her arms and put them around her slim legs he was terrifying. It wasn't until he stumbled outside a second later she realized what he went inside for as he slurred "Party here tonight."
Yui didn't look happy as the she and Haruka had gotten dry Haruka had painted her nails and Yui had helped with the lip gloss putting it on Haruka every little bit of contact the two shared sending electricity running through their spine's and butterflies dancing in their stomachs. When their eyes met Yui gave a sad smile and all Haruka could do was smile back hoping that some how that would make her feel better.
The party was boring boys and girls had tried to hit on Haruka each time she ignored them or Yui would come out of no where and drag the girl away. Currently the two sat on the couch Yui was on Haruka's left lounging on the chair whilst Haruka sat straight almost with her head leaning on a cushion taking a sip from her drink every now and then. The two laughing about an inside joke when Kai once again made a drunken appearance pulling Yui up trying to dance with her as he kissed her neck. Yui looked at Haruka noticing that she looked just as uncomfortable as she felt and pushed him away after some struggle then sat down next Haruka who forced a smile and with the hand that was free ran it through her long brown raven locks of hair then took a sip from her drink which was a mix of vodka and coke.
Once the party was over some people had left others passed out on the floor Haruka walked past Kai who seemed to be asleep in a chair and made her way out to the pool where Yui sat her feet inside the cold water. Haruka just watched her for a moment she looked content something she had not been for a while. Her black hair cascaded down to meet her shoulders her pale legs revealing themselves as she was also wearing shorts but hers a darker colour. Haruka debated inwardly for a moment if she should disturb her but the decision was made for her when Yui heard her sigh. Haruka approached slowly then sat down beside her. Her feet also entering the water. Yui knew who it was. She didn't have to look to know she knew the moment she heard a door open and close it was Haruka. She could tell by the girls mere presence that it was Haruka because it always calmed her made her feel great so as she leaned her head against the taller girls shoulder the familiar scent on vanilla entered her nose and she relaxed. It was then she questioned herself, their relationship because without Kai's presence it was easier to think. It was then she knew the two of them weren't friends or best friends they were in fact destined to be something more. Lovers. So she lifted her head off Haruka's shoulder and if sensing what was going to happen Haruka turned to look at her. She leaned in. Their lips about to touch. Haruka felt a hand in her hair. Then the concrete met her face.
Haruka's vision was blurry and a sharp piercing ring stabbed her ears. She knew she was not going deaf because she could hear what seemed to be shouting in the background as she tried to get back to reality. Yui who was being shouted at by Kai could not take her eyes off Haruka until being forced as he gripped her face with his strongest hand. His eyes getting darker with anger every time another tear escaped from Yui.
Without thinking Haruka got to her feet and tackled him punching him over and over again ignoring the pain that throbbed through her head and let all her pent up feelings out. Tears streamed down her face and she was finally dragged off him by a familiar pair of arms. Yui turned Haruka around to face her and when she did her plump lips clashed with Haruka's luscious ones in a heated loving kiss. Words weren't needed because the feelings they both felt were overwhelming everything the two ever wanted was right there and Yui couldn't believe that both had been so blind. Once pulling away Haruka ignored the groaning Kai and leaned her head against Yui's who was inspecting her now girlfriends cuts. Then Haruka pulled a face making her laugh she then said three precious words.
"I love you."
"I love you too Yui."End of flashback Haruka laughed a little as she arrived home thinking of Kai who had quickly ran out of the house holding his nose. It was amazing how her worst day had suddenly became her best even if she did end up with a bust lip and a cut on her forehead.
