Yeah, I saw the film before reading the novel and the novel seriously shocked me, hahaha

so messed up, but at the same time I understand why they cut it out of the film.. interesting how it created a completely different atmosphere for the film, though! The film just had me going "awwwww ;____;" by the end, while the novel had me going "..... fffffffff is it over yet? D: aaaaaaah".
Though speaking about scene for scene remakes.... there are times when that works really well. Redundant, perhaps, but they can still be really good and perhaps even better than the originals. Like Funny Games US, which is a scene for scene remake of the Austrian film Funny Games (even directed by the same director!)... it works really well, and is quite good! And I swear I'm not saying that just because Tim Roth is in the remake

... though upon reading about the original I want to re-watch that some time, because omg Tim Roth's role as the father was originally done by Ulrich Mühe? D: How could I forget that? I
adore him in The Lives of Others.. ;_;!!!!
