Just watched the first Gantz movie. Costumes and stuff are pretty true to the manga but they just added more? plot.

Two movies I've watched recently~

Doing Time (刑務所の中) directed by Sai Yoichi - it was a little PWP for me but I enjoyed it.

The Funeral (お葬式) directed by Itami Juzo (GREAT director~) - LOVED IT.

I Saw The Devil - 9/10

Incredibly dark and brutal movie but it hooked me from start to finish. Surprised it hasn't got the Hollywood treatment yet.

I'd like to draw the attention on this movie that otherwise would be ignored:
http://www.avistaz.com/drama-movies/2011/eighteen-korea-2010.html

It's one of those love stories that are rarely told so well.

The Road - 9/10

One scene in particular was one of the most intense scenes I'd yet seen in a film. There are few films out there as sad as this :(

Machete - 7/10

A good film but it's ruined by the fact that all of it's best moments are shown in the faux-trailer it's based off.

The Expendables - 8/10

More enjoyable than I thought it would be. Plenty of kick ass action throughout.

The Fighter - 9/10

I love boxing so to have a film about real life boxer Mickey Ward, with a great cast and some excellent acting means this film had me hooked from start to finish.

Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol - 8/10
Lotsa cool stunts like the building climbing scene. LOL at projector wall.

In Time - 10/10
Reminds me of those old Sci-Fi themes for movies when I was a kid. Very cool.

Drive - 7/10
Looking back, I don't think there was actually much driving in it. XD
Lotsa gritty drama done pretty well, considering the main character doesn't (tries not to) show much emotion unless pushed hard.

Wu Xia - 8/10
Another Donnie Yen movie. :)
One big change in current martial arts films is they seem to put in a lot more quiet drama now, like 10 minute dinners (count how many dinners they eat when you watch it!). In the past they'd do some comedy scene there, so it might not be a bad thing.
Takeshi Kaneshiro's detective character was a change of pace with his CG CSI skills.

I also finished my James Bond reviewing project for those that haven't read it.

Re-watched House of the Flying Daggers again. SO GOOD.

Even after all the years and countless watches, it is still one of the best movies ever made. It has everything.
- Epic soundtrack throughout
- Double infiltrations a la Infernal Affairs
- Tragic forbidden love story
- Artistic action sequences
- The acting is so good in certain scenes, they barely need dialog. The eyes and body language say it all.
- Mexican stand-off in the snow

Watched Zombieland last night. No complaints. It was funny, well-paced, the characters were likeable and it stayed fun throughout. Go see it. 9/10

Tonight, I watched Watchmen. It was atmospheric and creepy and generally good throughout. The attempts to be relevant and political kinda fell flat though, and it repeated a lot in it's 3 hour running time. 7/10.

The Social Network - 9/10

Lived up to it's hype and then some. Must have one of the best scripts in a long time, the dialogue had me hooked from start to finish.

War Horse - 9/10
Done really well. Horses built up a lot of character. The gritty war life, and all the mini-stories intertwined pretty well.

Chronicle - 9/10
All the CG looked cool, and the scenes of them practicing the force was awesome.
I'm a little Andrew myself (shy and wishing ppl would get out of my life, but also wish someone cared) so I kinda got attached to the character.

I'm divided on the blair witch style, but it does make it much more personal. :)
Our kids will probably have first-person, third-person and camera-person as regular viewing options soon.

Hellboy II - 9/10

One of the best comic book movies ever and a very underrated one IMO.

I have a good dozen or so movies on my netflix instant queue, but I only watch them when they are about to be taken down from netflix

Time to watch the Pixar movie and Big Trouble in Little China (even if I have it on VHS)

been slow to post. On Presidents day I went and say the secret world or Arrietty.
Loved it.
Afterwards I went and visited a friend I don't see often enough anymore.
We got to talking about movies(a common love we share) and he was saying how next month there will be 3 he wants to see close together.
At the same time we both went "I remember when we did 3 movies in a day!!!!1!!"
boy how times change.
Life is one time.

The Hunger Games - Official Trailer [HD]

Just like with Battle Royale, Sin City, and Game of Thrones, I'm tempted to read the first book.

Wasn't the girl in X-Men: First Class?  :?
