In The Loop - 9/10

Smart, hilarious comedy with so many classic quotes. And a hell of a lot of swearing.

COWABUNGA, DUDES! :twothumbs
^ Funny. I just started catching up watching some old movies and TMNT(2007) was one of 'em.
It was pretty good, and hit the sweet spot of good for kids, and entertaining for adults.

That song at the end Awww Dip by Cobra Starship is nice too, and that's coming from a guy that does NOT listen to english songs, period.
Putting it on repeat right now. "I got a little secret that they're never gonna stop us oh-a-oh, we'll burn them down" XD

Also watched Eagle Eye and Jumper. They were pretty good too. Maybe cos I didn't go in with any expectations.
I watched Death Race too... yeah... that was... a movie. :P

Ken Watanabe to Play the Villain in Chris Nolan's Inception

And I thought the cast for Christopher Nolan's Inception couldn't get any better? Two more phenomenal actors who have joined the cast as announced via Hollywood Reporter tonight. Ken Watanabe will play the villain, a man who is blackmailing the lead character, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, a CEO of a mysterious company. Up-and-comer Tom Hardy has also joined the cast as "a member of DiCaprio's team." Also starring in Nolan's "contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind" are Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Cillian Murphy, Ellen Page and Marion Cotillard. That's one hell of a cast, eh?

Ken Watanabe is actually one of my all-time favorite actors. I absolutely love the guy and he's never let me down in any role he's ever played. He appeared in Nolan's Batman Begins as the "fake" Ra's Al Ghul in the beginning and also did an exceptional job as Katsumoto in The Last Samurai and as General Kuribayashi in Letters from Iwo Jima. His addition to this cast has made a project that I'm already very excited for even more highly anticipated in my book. Now only if we knew what the heck this was about, but I'm thinking at this point, I'd rather just be completely surprised next summer. We'll keep you updated on all the latest!

Just saw "The Number 23"

I thought Jim carrey was ok in this. He proved he can play a creep already in Cable Guy.

I can't believe I didn't post this earlier... I saw the latest Star Trek movie last Saturday at an advanced screening.  I'm not even a Star Trek fan, but I REALLY REALLY enjoyed this movie.  Great action, laughs, awesome moments and boy, Syla- er Spock was terrific!  I'd actually go back and pay to watch this movie again.  GO WATCH IT WHEN IT COMES OUT!  :twothumbs

Uhura is  :jerk:, BTW.

Ah, I remember now... yeah, it was pretty cryptic.  Might check that out again.  Other than that, I thought the movie was pretty entertaining and suspenseful.  I'm starting to dig Josh Brolin... saw him in No Country, Grindhouse (lol) and will see him in Milk (whenever I get around to it).  I'm curious about W., too, where he plays Dubya.  Looks... interesting.

yeah, it was pretty cryptic.

Maybe I'm remembering it wrong but I didn't think it was cryptic at all, really straightforward.

<spoiler>

Perhaps not the movie ending as a whole was cryptic.  I was just thinking of the dream the sheriff recounted... THAT seemed odd to me, is all.

Yeah it wasn't really a cryptic ending, just a sad little cap to the end of the story.

Man that was a really good movie.  I should watch it again.

Just came back from STAR TREK.  Gotta say there was more I liked than not. Maybe cause I was expecting mostly crap; instead I just sat back and enjoyed the FX.  Shame on me.

I saw about a half dozen people wearing the old-skool uniforms: blue, gold...  The theater I was in wasn't even half full! Either people don't come out to Star Trek like past generations or this preview wasn't well publicized.

Whaaaaat?  The theatre wasn't even packed?

The screening I went to was last Saturday at 10:30 AM (!!!) at a fairly popular theatre.  I arrived half an hour before the show started and it was nearly full by the time I got there.  I had to sit all the way in the back.  LOL  Surprisingly, I didn't notice anyone in uniform.  However, from the sound of their comments, I was sitting next to some seasoned Trekkies.  They seemed to enjoy the movie.   :)

Im gonna go see this tonight.  Im not really a trekkie so im going into this movie as a casual fan.  I heard someone in town is gonna go as a jedi to piss the trekkies off LoL.. kinda reminds me of that Triumph star war ep

Either way this movie looks koo, even tho it might just be eye candy, i cant wait

I really liked No Country, it gave me a completely different feeling when i was watching it.  I think it might be coz there was no music, i dont know but there is no other movie out there that gave me that feeling when i was watching t.  That scene when he was in the hotel room and he sees that guy's shadow under the door while holding the shot gun still sticks in my head..  Good movie  :thumbsup

Nightwatch - 8/10

Based on the novel by Sergei Lukyanenko. A somewhat faithul adaptation but the book's much better.

Harsh Times - 7/10

Fairly good movie about an ex-soldier trying to get by in the world but then going downhill fast after getting caught up in a drug trade.

Gomorra: Too long, not that interesting. I heard the book is much better.

Saw couple movies..

TMNT (2007) - I thought it was a good movie considering its a Turtles Movie.  It brought back memories of TMNT 1 with the whole Leo vs Raph thing.

The Notebook - I caved in and watched it after having it recommended by alot of people.  I dont normally watch movies like these and in those cases I do I didnt like em.  This movie tho, was good.  Glad I watched it  :thumbsup

RE: Degeneration - I didnt and dont have any hope for any RE movie since the first POS came out.  This movie was alright, if it didnt have Leon, Claire, Tyrant i wouldn't have watched it.

Yulenka (a.k.a. Julenka) - 7/10

Found this one randomly while browsing a Russian site, and decided to get it because of this: "She doesn't play with dolls, she plays with people". The plot isn't so hard to understand, even if I watched without it subs. And while it wasn't as "scary" as I expected it to be, it was entertaining. If any, the main character was certainly creepy. However, I still cannot decide if things happened out of pure selfishness or because of "external" forces.

Rumor: Sharon Stone Joining Quentin Tarantino's Weekend?

Wait just a minute! On the eve of the world premiere of Tarantino's newest film, which took years to pull together, a rumor hits about another never-heard-of project? Of all the places for this to come from, it's Variety, where they say (without confirmation) that Sharon Stone is potentially involved in a new project called Weekend to be directed by Quentin Tarantino. In addition to Stone, it will also star Jessica Biel, Lucy Liu, Dennis Hopper and Michael Madsen and it will film in Serbia. Has anyone ever heard about this before? Does Tarantino really have a new project lined up? Or is this just an early rumor gone too far?

Adding more tidbits into the mix, SlashFilm uncovered this apparent update from Production Weekly.

"Michael Madsen & Bret Davidson were attached to direct together last year, Davidson wrote the script. Max, a retired war hero, sets to enjoy a weekend at his cabin. While riding his motorcycle on the way up he stops to give a helpful hand to a beautiful woman, Rita, whose car has broken down on the side of the road. He helps her to the nearest repair shop without knowing Rita’s current involvement with the most powerful influence in Las Vegas. Unbeknownst to him Max is soon to enter into the biggest battle for his life."

That doesn't sound like a bad concept, I like it, but uh, I just don't think Tarantino has already lined up his next gig. I mean, tomorrow he's presenting his WWII masterpiece (or so we hope) to hordes of hungry critics here in Cannes. As much as I'd love to see him work with Dennis Hopper and Michael Madsen (again), it probably won't happen. But of course, we are expecting plenty of Tarantino updates over the next few days, and hopefully a confirmation on this project or news on another one. I'm still a full-time supporter of Quentin Tarantino and believer that he's still going strong, so let's bring on more madness, maestro!
