Hi!  Random post from a newbie - but went to the Kago Ai event in Costa Mesa Mitsuwa on 2/27 and at the Los Angeles Senor Fish performance.

She was a super big sweetie!  We paid to take photos with her... but didn't get to!  But later her people told us to try asking her personally for a picture - and she let us!  We got a group photo with her... and she was sooo nice!

Here are some pictures

Go DJ! Yeah that's my DJ! :P

So after reading all the pics and recaps of this past weekend (combined with a family gathering that didn't live up to the hype relatives were giving it) I started to really regret not biting the financial bullet to head down there and wondered if I missed out on an awesome gathering. However, all is not lost:

Beverly Hills! That's where Kago will be! Singing in Beverly Hills:

Looks like it's gonna be very similar to the Señor Fish event, but with more sake. I'm definitely considering going to this one...should be a much easier decision than this past weekend, and hopefully better weather than my journey for Hikki in January.

I assume this is gonna be a simultaneous/companion release with this DVD based on her LA adventures last year (which apparently includes a bath scene!). Looking at the rest of the Air Control website makes me wonder about what else we should be expecting out of this... :jerk:

On the flipside, she's looking all classy with this rendition of "Fly Me to the Moon":

She sounds incredible singing in a lower key like that...reminds me of Ai Takahashi's "Smooth Operator" performance.

.... So.. is it weird that the last half of this made me cry tonight?

I know she made a lot of mistakes, I know she was under so much pressure, and I also know that she's doing her best to be strong and pick herself up again... meeting her in New Jersey, seeing how gracious she was to her fans, it really had a huge impact on me.. but I still can't help it. I worry about her a lot.

And on top of everything, seeing Takeshi's reaction, and how genuinely worried and serious he was (which is something you don't ever see with TV personalities like that)... it hit me really hard, I guess.

I feel even more determined to keep supporting her, no matter what happens.

Awww SugarAndSynth <3 No doubt. That gives me chills just watching her go at it, working the supermarket scene! DJing, doing things no one would expect an "idol singer" to do.

Love Aibon, always part of the 4th Generation!!! MY fave gen which made me love Morning Musume. IMO her voice ranks one of the best like, how she and Maki could go at it on I WISH and held up As For One Day.

^I feel the same way. I'd heard about her Mitsuwa appearance literally days before it happened, and my girlfriend's folks live in New Jersey, so we hauled butt to get down there. I'm really glad there was a small crew of her fans there, but I was also just... kind of sobered when we took our places in the small, roped off area where she was appearing. I couldn't help but look at this in comparison to the massive arenas that she used to perform in, and think "all this, just because she's human", you know? Promoting cell phones and trying to rebuild her reputation from scratch.

But again, at the same time, in a lot of ways, I really admire her all the more for this. Falling from grace is never easy, and when you're at the very, very top... it takes a strong person to keep trying after that, especially in a country that has essentially washed their hands of you. It always makes me sad when Hello!Project OGs refer to her as "That Girl" when she comes up on TV spots, simply because their management won't let them talk about her (I assume). I just feel like she has so much courage, and has really, honestly grown up as a result of this, which is something she might never have done otherwise.

She's still so, so lovely.

(I'm so happy I found this picture. That's me with the glowing head!)

And amen. 4th Gen FOREVER. So much spirit and personality! And Kago's voice is definitely at the top of my list. A lot of the girls improved with age, but Kago was strong right from the start, and she has an amazing range. She was one of the few girls (along with Ayaya, Takahashi and Miki) who I feel could hold her own without any kind of backup.

Totally agree, even if they did their Ganko family performance during their show, it was still missing another person to make it whole, and we may joke around about her going to do other AV stuff (trust me I am not the only one thought about this when I learned about this at the start)  but she is quite warrior in her own kind, she has the time and now the stage to at least try to get herself back into the spotlight and I really hope one day, she could star in a movie because not many people take these types of fall and get up to peak

The jazz album has a title now: Ai Kago Meets Jazz ~the first door~
Release date is March 31st.

This blog shows off a tiny preview of the cover:
http://blogs.dion.ne.jp/aibon/archives/9258340.html

Tracklist:
1 . How High the Moon
2 . Night and Day
3 . Blue Moon
4 . Sunny
5 . You'd Be So Nice to Come Home to
6 . Someone to Watch Over Me
7 . When You Wish Upon a Star
8 . Fly Me to the Moon
9 . Over the Rainbow
10 . All of Me
11 . 17才よさようなら (17sai yo Sayonara)

That's right, she sneaked in a W song in there! Because technically that version was also a cover. :P Lots of references to the sky in her song choices.

In a way, I'm glad that last track isn't a brand new song, because I've read this story before and didn't like the original ending. Think about it: here we have a former member of Minimoni who left Hello Project, ran away to Los Angeles, and is now putting out a jazz album. If that last track was an original song we probably would never see Aibon ever again after this. :panic:

Well, this has been an interesting turn of events... She cancelled her appearance at the last minute. No warning or anything, though I probably should've known from her recent blog and Twitter updates. So basically it was just an ordinary night of random house music at some random bar.

Now I'm really regretting not coming down here last month...

In a way it isn't too bad...free food and drinks (of which supplies quickly ran out at 10:30), the music was decent if a repetitive (all house music after all), and it was cool acting a fool on the dance floor. Plus it's an excuse to visit LA, which is always fun, especially with the weather being much better than the last time I was here.

Still, she's the main reason why I'm out here, so that's definitely a disappointment. I can only wonder if anyone else showed up just for her, or if she'll ever talk about why things fell through.

For now, let's just enjoy this... ;)

I uploaded it on mediafire here's the link http://www.mediafire.com/?nwk2nbtzbdy

hopefully the rar file works, if not I have each song uploaded individually on my account also. Credits go to H!O.
