Damn.

Yossie will be sorely missed.  She was also such a great big sister-type.

What really irks me is the prospect of having Miki be the new leader.  Don't get me wrong - I like her and her singing and think she's damn sexy.  I just never thought of her as being a "true musume," since she joined the group without going through the same process as everyone else.  A true general should have gone through basic training and rise up the ranks like the rest of the grunts - but Miki got promoted directly into the group and became sub-leader after only 2 years, based only on her age.  Call me old-fashioned, but that makes her less than fit to fill the shoes of leadership.

I always had this fantasy that Takahashi would somehow bypass Miki and become leader after Yossie graduated....

^ Well said, you'll probably get your wish next year when they graduate Miki off. Ai as leader, Gaki as sub. From then on put a halt to the graduations and let Momusu blossom.

That being said, it might be a good chance for Miki to learn something...

Actually, I wish they would get rid of the seniority-based system and select their leaders based on appropriateness, rather than age.  It's crap, all of Japan knows its crap, yet every organization in Japan still uses it.  Morning Musume isn't the army, and the oldest musume isn't always going to be the best person to lead.

AMEN to that.

Age does not always equal 'more capability', or in this case, more suited for the job.

\o/ agrees with chera.
I think that though Miki will be the leader. Ai-chan will do most of the speaking etc. I've just got that feeling. Unlike ferrar1 I hope Miki stays a while in MM cuz shes just a great singer.

Wow. I have no idea how they can perform Mr. Moonlight after Yossie leaves since all the "boys" will be gone. And it's one of my favorite MoMusu songs too!

I hate to be negative but I just can't see MoMusu's popularity increasing at this rate. Members are being graduated faster than the newer generations can really blossom and cultivate renewed interest and a stronger following. Further, MoMusu just seems to be having less and less "flavor" as time goes on. I feel like they'll never make additions to their catalog as great as Renai Revolution 21, The Peace!, Mr. Moonlight, Roman, etc.

And who is Miki going to molest now that Yossi is gone?! Oh, UFA/Tsunku, you're breaking my heart.

If they stop with the graduation crap and got a couple of new members (some that actually add something to MM, not Kusumi style (no offence)) maybe they could get that "flavor" back.
But for now I have to agree with Pen-Pen

I was thinking about this earlier and had a thought.
When Maki joined, they only did 2 singles before 4th gen joined - who's to say that won't happen this time.  Ishiguro Aya left after one with goto(yossi's leaving after one with Aika)
Maybe it's a sign of the group moving on...I just hope Yossi doesn't dissapear she's one of my all time favourites!!

I've just realised....with yossi leaving....koharu will become my favourite member O.o.....I love koharu but I miss YOSSI~!!!!!!!
I hope she's sticks around on H!M!!!!!

set made by me
Here's me singing and dancing!

Now that I really think about it...

I wonder if she's going to co-host with Rika on H!M? Considering MM without Yossie, and without scripts, will probably be dull, other than Miki, who's really the only one that speaks out and gets a laugh from the staff o_o;

Thanks for the clip. But yeah, it made me even more sad, too.

The thing that gets me though, is Miki in that clip while Yossie is talking. While Ai looks like she's going to burst into tears, Miki's like, "Hee!" and smiling and nodding along (especially when Yossie says 'haru no,' -- just watch Miki... she ... giggles?) Eh, it just really bugged me.

When you say "going through the process", do you mean doing the auditions? Dude, Miki was part of the 4th Gen auditions that produced Rika, Yossi, Aibon and Nono. Miki DID go through that process, she DID try to get into MM. She just wasn't picked back then (why she wasn't, we don't know). Instead, Tsunku and UFA later had her debut as a soloist.  To say that she didn't go through what the other MM members went through isn't being fair to her.

As for why she was made sub-leader over Aichan, only Tsunku knows the real reason why he did that. Again, to say that it's just based on the fact that she's older isn't exactly being fair to her.

Just my 2 cents:

I've no complaints about Miki being made sub-leader over Ai-chan back in 2005 because by then, Miki already had 2 years of MoMusu experience, and although Ai-chan had 3 and a half years of MoMusu experience, the latter was a year and a half younger than the former; furthermore, Miki had more H!P experience than Ai-chan because the former joined in early 2001, whereas the latter joined in late 2001.

Having said that, I do agree somewhat that Miki did not "go through the process", so to speak, in the sense that she did not go through the same kind of training from scratch that the 4th Generation members had to go through right after they joined MoMusu; when the 4th Generation joined MoMusu, they had 0 years of H!P experience and they were also amateurs, whereas when Miki joined MoMusu in 2003, she already had 2 years of H!P experience plus she was also a professional by then, which probably explains why Miki seems to be more stuck-up than the 4th Generation members; whether that's her way of getting back at her 4th Generation senpais, or whether she's under some sort of pressure to behave differently due to her professional status and the fact that she's 4 years older than the other 6th Generation members, I don't know and I'd rather not judge because Miki's case is a bit unique.

Personally, I respect Miki for her talents, but I'm afraid I'd rather be entertained by her as a soloist rather than as a MoMusu member.

If one compares the attitude that the 4th Generation members had towards their 1st to 3rd Generation senpais, with the attitude that Miki had towards her 4th and 5th Generation senpais, the difference is quite obvious. Miki is older than all the 4th and 5th Generation members, except for Ishikawa (which might explain why Miki herself even admitted on the Music Fighter Ishikawa Rika graduation episode that she used to be unable to get along well with her; also, Rika is older, has more H!P experience and more MoMusu experience) and she was already a professional, so she has more daring to throw her weight around with the 4th and 5th Generation members; whereas, I hardly ever see Aibon, Nono, Yossie or Rika-chan seriously throw their weight around with their 1st to 3rd Generation senpais.

*sigh*
This also brings me to a related point that I've mentioned elsewhere:

"The spirit of Gold Era MoMusu was also much stronger and warmer with a nice balance of old and young, tall and short members, with unique and attractive characters; in essence, Gold Era MoMusu felt like a family of close sisters, daughters (musumes) led by a strong mother or big sister (Nakazawa) and a loving father (Tsunku)."

But I'm afraid I honestly can't say the say same thing for the present MoMusu...:(

Miki's training was to be solo artist (from scratch), which can be harder because you're expected to carry the whole show on your own. There's no one else for you to lean/rely on. She may not have gone through the exact same process as those who were directly put into MM, but the way that people here are describing it, it makes it sound like she didn't go through any training at all. What I'm saying is that she HAS, just because her's was a little different doesn't make it any less difficult than what the others had to go through.

which probably explains why Miki seems to be more stuck-up than the 4th Generation members; whether that's her way of getting back at her 4th Generation senpais
Whoa, didn't see that one coming. :scratch  Not sure if it was confirmed or just rumours, but I heard that Miki had always considered herself to be closer/more of a "4th Gen" member than a "6th Gen" if, for no other reason than the fact that they're closer in age (at least in terms of Rika and Yossi) and they all took part in the same round of auditions. I personally don't recall hearing anything about her having any animosity towards the other "4th Gens" after Tsunku decided to put her in MM. Granted she's admitted that she and Rika didn't get along well at first, but they rectified that.

At any rate we're bringing this waaaaaay off topic. Bottom line is, Miki's going to be leader once Yossi leaves. Whether people think she's suited for it or not of if they think she deserves it or not, that's how it's going to be. Nothing we say here will change the fact that MM will soon stand for "Miki's Musume".

And just a little reminder to bring the thread back on topic...
