When you say "going through the process", do you mean doing the auditions? Dude, Miki was part of the 4th Gen auditions that produced Rika, Yossi, Aibon and Nono. Miki DID go through that process, she DID try to get into MM. She just wasn't picked back then (why she wasn't, we don't know). Instead, Tsunku and UFA later had her debut as a soloist. To say that she didn't go through what the other MM members went through isn't being fair to her.
As for why she was made sub-leader over Aichan, only Tsunku knows the real reason why he did that. Again, to say that it's just based on the fact that she's older isn't exactly being fair to her.
Just my 2 cents:
I've no complaints about Miki being made sub-leader over Ai-chan back in 2005 because by then, Miki already had 2 years of MoMusu experience, and although Ai-chan had 3 and a half years of MoMusu experience, the latter was a year and a half younger than the former; furthermore, Miki had more H!P experience than Ai-chan because the former joined in early 2001, whereas the latter joined in late 2001.
Having said that, I do agree somewhat that Miki did not "go through the process", so to speak, in the sense that she did not go through the same kind of
training from scratch that the 4th Generation members had to go through
right after they joined MoMusu; when the 4th Generation joined MoMusu, they had 0 years of H!P experience and they were also amateurs, whereas when Miki joined MoMusu in 2003, she already had 2 years of H!P experience plus she was also a professional by then, which probably explains why Miki seems to be more stuck-up than the 4th Generation members; whether that's her way of getting back at her 4th Generation
senpais, or whether she's under some sort of pressure to behave differently due to her professional status and the fact that she's 4 years older than the other 6th Generation members, I don't know and I'd rather not judge because Miki's case is a bit unique.
Personally, I respect Miki for her talents, but I'm afraid I'd rather be entertained by her as a soloist rather than as a MoMusu member.
If one compares the attitude that the 4th Generation members had towards their 1st to 3rd Generation
senpais, with the attitude that Miki had towards her 4th and 5th Generation
senpais, the difference is quite obvious. Miki is older than all the 4th and 5th Generation members, except for Ishikawa (which might explain why Miki herself even admitted on the Music Fighter Ishikawa Rika graduation episode that she used to be unable to get along well with her; also, Rika is older, has more H!P experience and more MoMusu experience) and she was already a professional, so she has more daring to throw her weight around with the 4th and 5th Generation members; whereas, I hardly ever see Aibon, Nono, Yossie or Rika-chan
seriously throw their weight around with their 1st to 3rd Generation
senpais.
*sigh* This also brings me to a related point that I've mentioned elsewhere:
"The spirit of Gold Era MoMusu was also much stronger and warmer with a nice balance of old and young, tall and short members, with unique and attractive characters; in essence, Gold Era MoMusu felt like a family of close sisters, daughters (
musumes) led by a strong mother or big sister (Nakazawa) and a loving father (Tsunku)."
But I'm afraid I honestly can't say the say same thing for the present MoMusu...
