Empire of Silver - Book 4 of 'The Conqueror Series' - Conn Iggulden
Insurrection - Book 1 of the 'Insurrection' trilogy - Robyn Young

Both historical fiction novels. Empire of Silver continues to tell the story of Genghis Khan's dynasty and Insurrection tells the story of Scottish warrior, Robert the Bruce. Both are pretty epic.

Towers of Midnight: the latest in the Wheel of time series.
With Robert Jordan passing away, Brandon Sanderson was picked to finish the series off.
So far I have been very impressed with his writing. A lot of my friends have stopped reading several books back because the story was getting very convoluted and run down.
Life is one time.

team of rivals by doris kearns goodwin

Quote from: Newsweek
Asked in January by CBS anchor Katie Couric which book, aside from the Bible, he would find essential in the Oval Office, Obama answered, "Team of Rivals."

it's about the politics during lincoln's election/s and presidency, and i've been meaning to read it ever since that month or so when the media wouldn't shut up about the idea of obama assmebling a team of rivals. i'm halfway in, which means i'm just getting to the presidency part, where we get to read about the team in action. going into this book, i was expecting it to be more of an extolment of lincoln the open-minded bipartisan, but instead the creation of his 'team of rivals' sounds more like the work of lincoln the wily politician than anything else.

i also have to mention that there is a metric ton of bromance in this book, in which politicians cry manly tears while writing passionate letters to their soulmates (who are also politicans)

I just finished reading Norwegian Wood yesterday. I'm currently working on a Tolstoy collection, "The Death of Ivan Ilych" in particular. "Kreutzer Sontata" up next, and Brothers Karamazov ready for tomorrow.

This book:

It's quite slow at the beginning, but in the middle of it... well, I couldn't stop reading it.

i finished this a couple of days ago:

definitely recommended if you haven't overdosed on obama biography yet. it covers up to his inauguration all the way from his grandfather, and the focus is on how his presidency fits in african-american history.

That was really good, sort of a tamer version of Battle Royale, want to read the 2 sequels but there's about a 2 month wait at the libraries. :(
