Spurs get their first win of the season, oh yea.
Long season to go, though.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Chicago Bulls forward Luol Deng was a conflicted man on Wednesday night. He had turned down a reported $50 million earlier in the day, and now he sat inside the dank visiting locker room at the Meadowlands, preparing for a game and wanting some answers.
Bulls forward Tyrus Thomas was looking for answers, too, leaning in to listen to the latest on the Kobe Bryant-centered universe.
Double header on TNT tonite.
Pistons @ Heat followed by Suns @ Sonics.

SEATTLE -- The Seattle SuperSonics' new owner told the NBA on Friday that he plans to move the team to Oklahoma City.
Clay Bennett had set a Wednesday deadline for having a plan to replace KeyArena, which he says is outdated. He and the city are in a dispute about the arena lease.
He has until March 1 to file for relocation with the NBA if he wants the team to play the 2008-09 season anywhere besides Seattle. The Sonics are the city's oldest major professional sports franchise.
Bennett briefly backed off his deadline, not wanting to distract from the start of the season. He watched Thursday night's home opener against Phoenix from his suite, spending most of the second half chatting with Hall of Famer Bill Russell while fans chanted "Save our Sonics!" during the game.

Double header on ESPN tonite.
Wizards @ Celtics followed by Lakers @ Suns.
The Kings coming in to take on my Spurs tonite, which I'll get to see locally.
There's also 10 other games that'll be going on tonite.

Sounds like they really want Kobe

SAN ANTONIO (AP) -- Manu Ginobili got the signal from San Antonio Spurs teammate Tim Duncan and took off running.
By the time the Sacramento Kings had regrouped, Duncan was in the midst of hurling a court-length pass to Ginobili for an easy layup at the other end.
Welcome to Friday night football, Spurs style.
My Spurs beat the Kings in resounding fashion last nite.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Carmelo Anthony and Allen Iverson taught the young Minnesota Timberwolves a couple of lessons about life in the NBA in their first game without Kevin Garnett.
The first? Reputation goes a long way in this league.
The second? The fourth quarter is the only one that matters.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
INDIANAPOLIS -- Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade has been cleared to play after recovering from the left knee and left shoulder surgeries he had in May.
Dwyane Wade
Wade
Miami coach Pat Riley didn't put a timetable on Wade's return to the lineup. In the announcement before Friday's game against the Indiana Pacers, Riley said Wade has been practicing, but without making any contact.
Riley plans to be careful in bringing back his All-Star.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Two games, two down-to-the-wire wins for the Indiana Pacers and new coach Jim O'Brien.
Danny Granger was 10-for-13 from the field and had 25 points and nine rebounds to help the Pacers beat the Miami Heat 87-85 on Friday night.
The Pacers overcame a seven-point deficit with four minutes left. On Wednesday, they beat Washington in overtime.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PHOENIX (AP) -- The Phoenix Suns got home at 4 a.m., then sleepwalked through their home opener. The result was a 119-98 rout at the hands of the Los Angeles Lakers.
More games like this and Kobe Bryant might not want to leave Los Angeles.
This is what I'm talking about, Lakers gave the Suns a beatdown.
No "D" playing Suns got tore up, yea mang.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BOSTON (AP) -- Kevin Garnett walked off the court raising his right index finger to the cheering crowd. By his side, Paul Pierce did the same -- a rare gesture of triumph for the long-suffering Celtics star.
There was 2:30 left in the game and Boston had been in control since the middle of the second quarter. The Celtics beat the Washington Wizards 103-83 on Friday night, opening their most promising season in Pierce's 10 years with the club.
"I'm at a place right now in my career, I couldn't ask for anything better," said Pierce, who led Boston with 28 points.
Garnett, Pierce and Ray Allen, the Celtics new big 3, tore up the Wizards soundly.
So much for Gilbert Arenas' so-called "guarantee" that the Wizards would beat the Celtics in Bostons home opener.
He opened mouth and inserted foot, rightly so.

Let's rewind for a moment to the first weekend of last season. What would you have said then if someone had written that Allen Iverson, Kevin Garnett and Kobe Bryant were all about to be traded in a span of 12 months?
If Bryant gets moved by Dec. 19, that fantasy trifecta becomes a reality.

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Kobe Bryant has had so many buzzer-beaters and 50-point games, he's lost count. When he blocks a dunk attempt -- now that's memorable.
The Los Angeles Lakers were leading by seven points midway through the fourth quarter when Bryant made the ultimate defensive stop on Utah's Andrei Kirilenko. The two-time NBA scoring champ then got six of his 33 points in the final 4½ minutes to secure a 119-109 victory over the Jazz on Sunday night.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Seems to be only one game on tonite, Rockets @ Mavs.
Its on NBATV, which sux since I'd definitely want to see this one.

SAN ANTONIO -- Shaquille O'Neal knows what people are saying. He hears what folks aren't necessarily whispering.
He could hear it on this night in his own locker room, because he sneaked up behind a certain ESPN.com reporter who was asking a longtime Shaq observer named Penny Hardaway for a scouting report.
"You talkin' about me?" Shaq asked.
You suspect Shaq knew the answer before he joined the conversation. It's the unavoidable subject around the Miami Heat these days, with Dwyane Wade still in street clothes. The job of carrying this team is all O'Neal's until Wade gets back, although he doesn't really want that responsibility at nearly 36, and Miami is 0-4 after Shaq was powerless to prevent Wednesday night's 88-78 loss to the San Antonio Spurs.

PHOENIX -- NBA commissioner David Stern warned Thursday that if the SuperSonics leave Seattle he sees no way the league would ever return to the city.
"I'd love to find a way to keep the team there," he said, "because if the team moves, there's not going to be another team there, not in any conceivable future plan that I could envision, and that would be too bad."
At a news conference following his announcement that the 2009 All-Star Game would be held in Phoenix, Stern criticized the city of Seattle and the Washington legislature for its handling of the issue of funding a replacement for Key Arena.
Stern repeated earlier criticism of the mayor and city council for promoting a measure, overwhelmingly passed by voters, that requires any funds to help build an arena earn money at the same rate as a treasury bill.

Suns wins and Amare is back. Nash is literally carrying the team in assist and in points. Marion is a monster rebounder and he's not even a PF.
