^ Pika gave me a save for the PC version so next time it's on discount at Steam I'll probably get it and then check it out

The PS2 thing sounds like so much hassle XD

Reading these posts makes me wanna play San Andreas again...but unfortunately my copy doesn't seem to like Windows Vista (first run PC version that still has Hot Coffee intact), so I think I might have to buy it again. Of course, that just means I'll probably pick up the Trilogy version so I can explore GTA3 and Vice City as well, since San Andreas and GTA2 are the only ones I've ever owned (the latter being free).

Those 6-star runs are insane. I used to try the whole "get from this place to that place with certain stars" thing before, but not with 6 stars. I'll have to try that out if I ever get my game working again.

I did it in GTAIV now!
It's actually much easier than I thought as I escaped the 6 stars twice and had to go to the locked island again to get the 6 stars, lol.

I just couldn't handle multiplayer in GTAIV. Not only would it not find games for me most of the time, but anytime I did I'd get thoroughly smoked. And considering how high the caps are for each level and I only seem to get a few measly hundred dollars each game, I just kinda lost enthusiasm. The chopper vs chopper mode is hella fun though XD I think dying a lot is just part of the multiplayer experience. As for the gobble gobble achievement, I heard there's some spot you can bowl from that guarantees you strikes but I got mine through pure luck XD

Man I should really get round to finishing off The Ballad of Gay Tony soon. I left it off at a pretty climatic moment too XD

Not legit, but pretty nice, right?

I was just saying it's about time they announce another GTA (even though there hasn't been any announcements yet).
It would be nice if they went back to Miami Vice City. :yep:

Quote
On November 2, Rockstar will release the debut trailer for the fifth main game in the Grand Theft Auto series, according to the developer's site.

With the title previously unconfirmed, the above logo is our first official glimpse of anything to do with the game, though there have been strong rumours for a while now that the title would be based in Los Santos, the series' version of Los Angeles.

Grand Theft Auto V will be the first new game in the series since 2008's Grand Theft Auto IV, which was given two expansions, The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony. Grand Theft Auto IV became the highest grossing video game in 24 hours following its May 13, 2008 release. That record was later toppled by Halo 3 and then Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

This week marks the ten year anniversary of Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto III.

It's funny how other sites released it before the official website did, even though that's the one everyone was supposed to watch XD

It does look cool! being called 5? idk, games these days have the problem of having no real technological jump, they only look slightly better than before, so while it does look better they have more or less used the GTAIV engine with a new city/cities?

I'm a little disappointed in the protaganist being 'some white guy', I know people have been saying that a female protaganist wouldn't work; 'girls wouldn't do that' 'women don't murder people' 'no way can a woman pull someone out of a car' etc etc

But I see all those as good points! if the main character was a lady, it would be really interesting to see WHY she was doing all that stuff, rather than some rich white dude trying to become richer. They could change the animations for car jacking when she doesn't have a gun on her, or even make it really difficult when she doesn't have one, idk!

I think this new game would of been the perfect time to do this, or even if they're too scared to do it, have a male or female choice at the start (another NEW idea for GTA) or have a story that can fit both?

Unless visiting prostitutes and strip clubs is that important? that or they don't want to be anything like Saints Row, which is probably doing a good job by marketing it's self as a game where you can choose who you want to be, male or female.

I'll buy GTA5 anyway, haha.

I agree with you, a female protaganist would have been pretty interesting. They still could though! One of the rumours flying around is that you play as multiple characters throughout the course of the story. Who's to say if it's real or not, but I would like to see that for sure. If this guy is the rich guy looking to get richer, why not play as someone on the opposite end of the spectrum who's lost everything and wants to get back to where they used to be if not higher up than before and have those stories converge somehow. They did so in a degree between IV and all it's expansion packs after all. But only if done right, I hope Rockstar learned lessons from LA Noire and don't introduce new protaganists late into the story, making the one you've been playing as for a dozen hours or so take a backseat all the way to the end of the game.

GTAV is a pretty big statement to make if you look at the jumps between each iteration. Each one kind of pushed the boundaries in a lot of ways. From II to III it was the leap into 3D and on a new generation of hardware. III to IV was again a leap to a new generation but obviously, the world was bigger, more stuff to do, online multiplayer for the first time and obviously, HD graphics. GTAV doesn't have that luxury, it's still on the same generation and at this stage, looks to be regular ass GTA. I think Rockstar knows it too and I expected them to save that leap for the next generation and get people really hyped for it. Unless this one makes other advances in ways we don't know about? Who's to say? Maybe it's all in the name, if they called it GTA : Los Santos you know you would expect people bitching about why it's not DLC

All I know is that trailer got me excited for it. Not overwhelmed as with other debut trailers, but curious to see what Rockstar will do. I liked the setting in San Andreas so would like to see more of it in HD please. There looks to be some rural areas too so hopefully maybe something like Las Venturas will be in there too. Definately looking forward to seeing what will be done with this.

If I can recreate Ice Cube's It Was A Good Day video in V just like I could in San Andreas then I will be happy.

I actually think the graphics look like a pretty great jump from GTAIV or RDR, at least considering it's on the same consoles and what not (although the trailer could just be PC footage). It seems like they fixed the horrendous dithering and added some ambient occlusion.

I'm kinda disappointed it seems like another city re-do stylistically. First Liberty City and now San Andreas. Would have been cool to see something new or a more stylized world or an different time period in the same way as Vice City.

A different setting would have most definitely been a nice chance of pace I don't have a problem with them going back because I think it will help them focus the story a bit. I enjoy the sandbox nature but I usually enjoy experiencing the various beats of GTA's story. It's why I never really bothered to play anything past the first Saints Row. I appreciate the crazy that Volition has embraced but ever since SR2 and especially SR3, their craziness seems unearned to me and just generally turns me off.

It's not a shoe-in that I pick up GTA5 first week but they have me paying attention.
