Even wilder is the FBI's file of ODB being released!

An extensive FBI file on the alleged criminal activity of the late Wu-Tang Clan rapper Ol' Dirty Bastard has been made public through the Freedom of Information Act.

"The detectives have documented, in their case files, that the WTC is heavily involved in the sale of drugs, illegal guns, weapons possession, murder, car jackings and other types of violent crimes," reads one sample entry.

Born Russell Jones, Ol' Dirty Bastard was arrested multiple times during his brief lifetime on various charges, including wearing a bulletproof vest as a convicted felon – the first person arrested under a then-new California state law. ODB collapsed and died on November 13, 2004, just short of his 36th birthday. The cause of death was determined to be an accidental overdose.

LOLWTH

Quote
Swizz Beatz has Sean “Diddy” Combs, Kanye West and Will.i.am in hot water with their label by getting them to promote his site, MegaUpload. The CEO of the Internet company, Beatz — also a recording artist, producer and DJ — persuaded the stars to appear in a “Mega Song” video promoting his service, intended to send large media files. The catch is the music industry has been fighting against file sharing, accusing the services MegaUpload offers of supporting piracy.

…But after the starry promo appeared on YouTube last month, Diddy, Kanye and Will.i.am’s label, Universal Music Group, issued a “take-down notice” to YouTube, saying the artists’ performances were unauthorized. Their individual reps followed up, sources say. Mega-Upload fired back with a lawsuit against Universal to stop it from blocking distribution of the video. A Mega rep told us: “We have never received any word that any artist has [individually] filed a take-down . . . [we have] legally binding agreements with the performers that appear in the video . . . They promised that they had the rights to enter into that agreement and it’s not interfering with any third-party rights.” – NY Post

^ There were sites that blew that shit up like it was new. It was pretty obvious that once each member got a piece of their own, they wanted more from the group. But its dope to see that Rae recognized it. This whole thing is a double-edged sword. With it brought us amazing music and brought Wu-Tang as a name to the skies but it also brought negativity to the movement.

On February 14th, the soundtrack to the film Soundtrack to a Revolution will be released. It features contemporary artists singing traditional Civil Rights-era freedom songs. The Roots perform “Ain’t Gonna Let Nobody Turn Me Around” in this clip, which juxtaposes black-and-white footage of 20th-century Civil Rights protests with color footage of the band performing in a recording studio.

LOL the Bru-Tang Clan!
This is so fucking awesome! Hip Hop and hockey! the FreEP is gonna be epic

Quote
In just over a year and a half, Boston Bruin’s Left Winger Brad Marchand has won a Stanley Cup and has become a fan favorite among Boston Hockey fans. His cult hero status as a gritty player who doesn’t take himself too serious has been elevated with the embracing of his popular nickname “Noseface Killah” and his references to his teammates as “The Bru-Tang Clan.”

To celebrate all things Wu-Tang and his own growing aliases, Marchand has teamed up with The Boston Sports Apparel CO. to design his own line of gear. Principal members of The Boston Sports Apparel Co. have strong ties to the Urban Hip-Hop Music scene both in Boston and Nationally by way of now defunct record label “Grit Records”. Grit Records (who released songs featuring Soul Supreme, KRS-One, Pete Rock, Big Daddy Kane & O.C of legendary group D.I.T.C.) was founded by Mahlon Williams, winner of Spike TV’s second season episode of “Pros vs. Joes”. After appearing on the popular sports show, Williams decided to leverage his bevy of Comic Book and music industry connections and access to popular athletes to start a sports apparel and marketing company. The Boston Sports Apparel Company has done work for Shaquille O’Neal, Kevin Youkilis, Glen Davis and now resident Bruins player Brad Marchand. Their products are sold all over New England and are regarded as one of the top regional apparel companies in the North East having garnered national attention on ESPN, SNL, TODAY show and countless reality shows. In an effort to lend some “street cred” to the whole BRU-TANG CLAN concept and promote the gear, The Boston Sports Apparel Company has collaborated with renown comic book artist J.J. Kirby and underground legend Akrobatik to lend his voice to each BRU-TANG clan member.

The FreEP “Enter The 63 Chambers” (63 coincidentally being Marchand’s Jersey Number and the mirror of Wu-Tang’s debut album title) will be released in late February 2012. The six-songs featured on “Enter The 63 Chambers” are all recorded over classic Wu-Tang instrumentals are surely the first hockey related hip-hop songs ever recorded (true “fight music”); and is a must listen for anyone (regardless if you follow hockey or not) and absolutely has to be heard in order to be appreciated.

Akrobatik (as the bru-tang clan) - bru-tang clan ain't nothin' to puck wit

RZA, Run DMC's Rev Run, DJ Khaled & More Share Stories For BMI's "How I Wrote That Song"

RZA talks about Wu Tang Clan's "C.R.E.A.M." and Method Man's "I'll Be There for You/You're All I Need to Get By" while Rev Run and others share stories about their most successful tracks for BMI's "How I Wrote That Song."

This weekend, several songwriters and musicians linked up to share stories that inspired their art. RZA, Run DMC’s Rev Run, DJ Khaled, Red One and Joel and Benji Madden were selected to be on this year’s panel and each shared personal stories about some of their more successful songs.

When “C.R.E.A.M.” blasted through the speakers at the Key Club venue where BMI held this event, RZA nodded his head to the beat before explaining how the Wu’s debut was an outlet for each member to escape the perils of streets.

“Our refuge would be the studio and my house was the studio,” he shared. “No matter how much trouble we did in the world, we would come together to make songs. [With 1993’s Enter the Wu-Tang: 36 Chambers], that was all of my homies from the neighborhood, finding a place to escape from the hells of the neighborhood and we would get together to make songs.”

He also explained the story behind Method Man’s Mary J. Blige-assisted “I’ll Be There For You/You’re All I Need To Get By,” a cut Meth originally did not want to do. According to RZA, Meth refused to make the song a single until he was given a car and a Mary J. Blige placement.

“Method Man, at the time, was considered the most hardest emcee in the game," RZA noted. "He had a song called ‘Bring the Pain.’ He’s 6’4” and in my neighborhood, he would walk around with the biggest gun you’ve ever seen. So, he did not want to be a pretty boy or a type of boy that girls liked, you know what I mean? I remember we did this song in my basement and I kind of forced him to do the song…We had to promise to buy him a new car and get Mary J. Blige to do the hook in order for this to be the single. It turned out this song became maybe a double platinum seller for him. Him and Mary won a Grammy [that] year.”

Other artists on the panel also had personal stories to share. Among other things, DJ Khaled explained stories about his "anthematic" tracks, saying it has sometimes taken him many months to track artists down for songs. He noted that persistence allowed him to succeed and said "no one" would outwork him.

A little late, but HEY! it ain't even Thai New Year yet so I'm good lol O0

Top 10 rap albums of 2011

Hard to choose 10.

But straight up it been

1. Common - The Dreamer/The Believer Probably Album of the Decade. nuff said.

2. Raekwon - Shaolin V Wu-Tang

tho not as balanced as OB4CLII, produced instant classics like Butter Knives and the title track.

3. 9th Wonder-The Wonder Years

This went by unoticed? Cuz i played like most of the album during my HHH sets, real old school vibe. soulful production and Guest Rappers to boot, like Masta Killa dropping Tama Theme Part79453409090w9erw

4. Jay-Z and Kanye West-Watch The Throne

started out good...but as you went through it, the more you realize Kanye has surpassed Jay-Z in the "swagger" type rhymes. Man, Jigga really had to drop a Pause throughout lol

5. Wu- Tang Clan - Legendary Weapons

A lotta random Wu tracks but it was WU. Collabos like  The Black Diamonds (feat. Ghostface, Roc Marciano and Killa Sin) stood out for just pure rawness and RZA was in full Gravediggaz mode on Only the Rugged Survive

6. Big Sean - Finally Famous

his flow be unique. G.O.O.D. music emerging. Also this track lol

7. Lupe Fiasco-Lasers

I like a good hook but to an extent. Lupe "Show Must Go On" was the ill. To expect a whole album like it, may be asking too much.

8. Bad Meets Evil-Hell the Sequel

not a fan of Royce :P but this is one where you wanna make angry :tama-mad: sex to your girl after a roid induced workout.

9. Cappadonna - Pilgrimage

THE TAXI DRIVER! How long has be sitting on this? But still dope to see DonDon back.

10. Snoop Dogg - Doggumentary

I actually liked his collabo with Wiz better. That kinda high Snoop is coming back, I'm a fuckin ignore those techno rap tracks  :bleed eyes:

Honourable mention : Bronze Nazareth-School For The Blindman dope production. Also noticed, every joint John Legend got on, i had to listen 10,000 times lol.

It was the YEAR of the Superstar Collabos but none really blew me away. EPs are the way to drop em. Still waiting on the DoomStarks. Kardinal Notts

lol of the year. Only cuz MWP dropped Peanut Butta

Looking forwards to 2012: New albums from Kardinal Offishall and WU-TANG

lol DMC on some shit

have you seen RZA in Californication  hitting his softer side!
