just wanted to say, listening to the DJ A-Trak Kanye West Soul Mixtape show, I have more respect for Kanye.   Especially for the Track Crack Music.  How the hell did he pick and use that little 2 second sample?  I woulda never thought of it.  Sure he still uses big samples, but at least makes it his own song.  He has a real good ear.

Anyways, thats it for now.  I can't make a top 10 all-time album list.  I don't have that much favorite albums.  Wu-Tang: Enter the 36 Chambers would be one of them though.

That Godfather sample is siiiiiick

Black Republican >>>>> whole Kingdom Come album :yep:

:yep: indeed...that was awesome...possibly the best collabo of 2006, imo.  and it beats the SHIT out of Kingdom Come, which was trash.  Thanx Masa :D

Ghostface - More Fish album is ripped!

DOOM has a beat on it, forgot the herb name, but its another old one. Same reaction I got when I heard the DOOM beat on Masta Killa's 2nd album.

The Ghost and Amy Winehouse track is on it.  Nice =)

Ghostface - More Fish album is ripped!
Damn, first Jeezy (yeeeeeah) and now Ghost

More Fish is pretty dope, it's not as good as Fishscale but it's definitely better than the first Theodore Unit album. Anyways Alex is such a dope song. Ghost should just make a storytelling album with Doom and Madlib behind the boards. Madlib's Block Rock beat is mad grimy and dope. I would have never guessed that it was produced by Madlib tho, it sounds different compared to his usual style. Miguel Sanchez is another great song. Trife rips that shit. I gotta write a longer review later but right now I'd give More Fish 4/5.

Jeezy's new joint is straight crack (that's riiiiiiight) :pimp:

This line from 3 A.M. describes perfectly what the album is all about:
"I adlib here, I adlib there / fuck it, adlibs everywhere (yeeeeeeeah)" - Jeezy

Line of the year: "My name ain't dick so keep it outta your mouth" - Jeezy

Rating 6/5, album of the year! (that's riiiiight)

:P

edit: holy shit, Mos Def's new album leaked too

Was just about to post that!  Gotta cop it later today.  What else is left for this year?  Nas?  Talib's Ear Drum is coming out in January i think.

SunGod, Ghost's son, sounds older than his dad =P

If anyone cares, I found a link for Ron Artest's album.  Dunno if it works though, i'm at work

http://rapidshare.com/files/843086/Ron_Artest-My_World-2006.rar

edit: Tru3 Magic let me down =(

Also, I got the chance to really listen to More Fish.  Alex is dope.  Doom is sick.  Swift and Changable is gonna be so good.

What kinda rap do you like? If you like NWA and old Wu-Tang then you should check out old Ice Cube albums, Snoop Dogg's Doggystyle, Dr. Dre's Chronic, Method Man's Tical, GZA's Liquid Swords, Raekwon's Only Built 4 Cuban Linx etc.

Wow, how did Mos get nominated and his album barely been out? I mean Mos is nice with it but damn besides myself playing it I havent heard undeniable or seen it on tv, might be cuz I barely listen to the radio or watch videos on tv anymore but just makes me question how the get nominated? Don't get me wrong his album is nice, I think it's a throwback to his first album since it doesnt have that live/rock sound from his band in it.

I still aint heard the Roots yet which is odd being I got most they albums, good to see Lupe get nominated his album gotta be the most slept on album of the year cuz it aint sell shiat but is crazy nice. The 'Daydream' track gotta be my favorite on the album.

Now listening to that Nas - Hip Hop is Dead though!

Yeah, I was like WTF when I saw Mos' name among the nominations. I didn't even know he had a single out. Anyways Mos' new album is disappointing. It's slightly better than The New Danger but it ain't no Black On Both Sides. I used to be a huge Mos fan but to be honest I'm more interested in Kweli's solo shit nowadays. Now where the hell is the new Blackstar album? :x

Daaaaamn man, you gotta stop sleeping on Game Theory. It's probably my favorite album of year and the best Roots album since Illadelph Halflife.

I really wish Lupe would have blown up big time. His album sold around 200k which ain't bad but Food & Liquor is such a good album that it deserved to sell more. I'm feelin' pretty much all tracks, the only average song is that Neptunes song. It sounds so out of place. Anyways Daydreamin' is a fucking classic, definitely one of the best songs of year. The Letterman show performance was amazing

Lupe Fiasco - Daydreaming Live on Letterman

HHID is better than I expected. Some beats could be a bit better (the first few beats are kinda boring) but Nas is spitting his ass off. The album is really consistent subject matter/production wise and the only song that shouldn't be on the album is "Play On Playa". Black Republican still sounds fucking amazing. My favorite songs besides Black Republican are Hip Hop Is Dead, Who Killed It (creative concept & Nas' 50s detective accent is hilarious), Still Dreamin', Let There Be Light and Can't Forget About You (best will.i.am beat ever?). Overall Hip Hop Is Dead doesn't single-handedly save hip hop but it's a step in the right direction. Like my homie hide said, mainstream really needs that album. Needless to say that Hip Hop Is Dead kills Jay's Kingdom Come :P

Oh yeah, we are gonna celebrate the release of Hip Hop Is Dead on HiP HoP Hizzy  next week. We are gonna have an epic 3 hour long Nas special and cover the whole career of God's Son from Live At The BBQ to Hip Hop Is Dead. So y'all better tune in 8-)

YOUNG JEEZY DRINK~!
YOUNG JEEZY SMOKE~!
YOUNG JEEZY MIX THAT ARM AND HAMMER WITH HIS COKE~!

Rofl, my friend bought the new Young Jeezy album today...its alright...there's some genuinely funny stuff on it.  I like it, I should've bought it myself (didn't think it'd be that good...seriously)\

oh yea, I like that 3 A.M. the most so far...Timbaland reminds me of Nate Dogg on that song (in a good way)

EDIT:

OH SHIT, I need to get that Nas, I was gonna hold out to buy it, but now that I see it here...I might as well, haha.

Listening to Jay-Z's new track ... he is really more suited with hooks and freestyling. Instead of overproduced, overhyped shit.

I'm digging Ghost's new mixtape, dope soundbites like Jay-Z talking bout him. Live tracks. Go get it off ur favorite BT place:

Canada's hip-hop ambassador, Kardinal Offishall, will be at the Shaw Conference Centre on Feb. 15.

The Jamaican-Canadian MC and producer is easily one of the biggest names in Canadian rap to actually crack the almost xenophobic American hip-hop market.

To date, he's the only Canadian urban artist to have appeared on BET's Rap City show and he's worked with the cream of U.S. artists, like Pete Rock, Method Man and Busta Rhymes.

No details on tickets yet, but Ticketmaster should have more information soon

http://www.edmontonsun.com/Entertainment/Music/2006/12/14/2787819-sun.html

NEW Proof album, duh:

... from deceased rapper Deshaun "Proof" Holton is on the way, according to The Detroit News. Time A Tell, is an album Proof recorded in a 24-hours, after being challenged by Julius Meyers aka DJ Jewels Baby. "It shows how serious Proof was about recording," Myers told The Detroit News. The album will be released on Proof's Iron Fist Records, which also released the rapper's 2005 solo album, Searching for Jerry Garcia.

EDIT

LOL, just came across this article:

http://sports.yahoo.com/top/news?slug=ap-music-alirap&prov=ap&type=lgns

it claims that Muhammad Ali was the 'first heavyweight champion of rap'

I read it and it does make good points, Muhammad Ali was the greatest boxer and one of the originators in slang and rhymes lol
