Props for the leak linkage. Gotta catch my breath lol

Listened to Pro Tools and SHIT. that was TIGHT. GZA is on another planet with his rhymes, teaming up with Masta Killa and RZA on Pencil is by far the dopest track. Digging the drumbeat. OFF THE WALL beats. So Groovy, nice nod to Isaac Hayes on Intromental. THE GENIUS! Groundbreaking, Short Race, and Cinema - the whispering flow. TRU HARMONY there son. Can't wait for a new Wu joint. :w00t:

JEEZY GOT ME IGNANT!

Anyone catch VMA's last nite? Kanye dropped his new single...DAMN ... I like it. I sent it to my fly bitch. I think it didn't go thru cuz MTV wiping that shit up faster than a geek with a toilet paper fetish. It's different. Not really a rap song, but more of a whiny screech song but it's ... STADIUM MUSIC.

DL the audtio rip: http://www.zshare.net/download/1838081796f5c569/

and shit, he borrowed a few fucking Chinese drummers from the Beijing Olympics WAS CRRAAAZZY!! From his new album "Good Ass Job" (something I tell tama-chan everytime she postwhores) dropping December!?! ROC stepping it UP son!

Gotta admit, I almost G'DAMNN'D with T.I.'s new joint is tight - Live your life with Rihanna - the lyrics be BANG ON. Where you from, who you know, what you make and what kind of car you in.
Seems as though you lost sight of whats important with the positive.

So here's a leaked version of Kanye's new song Love Lockdown.

http://www.zshare.net/audio/1854922927cf275d/

very mixed reactions from everyone.

Interesting change in direction. Very minimal. I kinda like it, but kinda hate it. As I said after seeing his performance on the VMA's it's kinda cool as it begins, but it's sorta like a build up to nothing. After that I'm hoping there's a hard hitting song after it on the album.

My thoughts on Love Lockdown

- I had a rant i did on my music blog months ago about that voice vocoder auto-tune shit.  Fucking guy is still using it...  Only people who can't sing use it.  It doesn't sound good in the first place.  Sorry, just personal opinion.  But listening to the studio version of Love Lockdown, its making it sound like shit to me.  Only person who can use it well is T-Pain.

- Song has no climax; its boring. i don't wanna listen to the lyrics.

- Kanye is not a singer.

- The more he tries to evolve, the more he turns into the norm; a pop act.  Not that there's anything wrong with that, but the reasons why i liked Ye isn't there anymore.

- Live > Studio, to me.

- Me personally, i don't like it.  This is supposed to be his last album, right? A Good Ass Job?  But i see on Wiki the 4th album is called 808's & Heartbreak now.  I don't think i'll be buying his 4th album if the songs are like this.

-----

On a good note, Kardi's album is pretty good.  I like it.  Imma buy it.  Hopefully it pushes Canadian hip hop.

I agree with most of what you say except, I like the vocoder in certain conditions, and I think it's a far departure from pop music. I think it's his least "pop" release to date. Ever since his major debut he's always had a poppy feel to most of his music and this is the first time I thought he left it. There is almost no popular appeal to the song. You can't play it in the clubs, and you can't listen to it to chill or even sing along, you listen to it just to listen to it. It's really on the border of what I'd even consider Hip-hop. If I had to classify I'd say it's something like minimal electronic tribal soul.

And it actually makes me want to hear his album more even if I don't particularly like the song. He's trying something that's never been done in mainstream hip-hop, which in my opinion is a very stale genre, and I respect him for atleast trying to change something. I seriously doubt he'd stick to that one style either as he was never one to do that.

And also for me, anyone who collabs with A-kon automatically loses lots of points from me, but I like his caribbean/jamaican style.

i didn't necessarily mean pop as in bubblegum pop, but ive just noticed rapper's gain the most mainstream appeal of the masses when they stop doing hiphop and start to "sing".  ie: Andre3000 of Outkast, Cee-Lo of GoodieMob/Gnarls Barkley, T-Pain of Nappy Headz or K-Os of... Canada.  Nothing wrong with it, but trying something new (like trying to sing) isn't "new", to me.

Maybe its just because i wasn't impressed with Love Lockdown.  Didn't hit me like a Mos Def - Umi Says

Maybe if the rest of the album has songs like I Wonder, then yeah i'll be happy, cuz i like that track.  Also i read that most of the album is gonna use auto-tune vocoder singing... =(

T-Pain killed hip hop! Love Lockdown is the worst Kanye single ever

I have a bad feeling that Kanye's new album will be another "The New Danger" or "Love Below". These rappers need to realize that they ain't no singers. And what makes Kanye's new style even worse is that he's using a fucking vocoder cause he can't sing at all. I love Kanye's music but to be honest I'm not even looking forward to his new album anymore.

Kanye West Makes Surprise Appearance, Will Release '808's & Heartbreak' in December

It looks like Kanye West is gearing up for a comeback ... not that he actually went anywhere. The producer/rapper made a surprise appearance at New York's Knitting Factory last night where he performed the new track, 'Love Lockdown,' which West sang at the close of the MTV Video Music Awards.

As we previously reported, the new song will reportedly be featured on the rapper's upcoming album, '808's & Heartbreak,' which is due in stores on December 16. According to sources, West will take a break from rhyming and sing on every track of his forthcoming project. In addition to 'Love Lockdown,' West performed 'Swagger Like Us,' minus Jay-Z, T.I. and Lil Wayne, 'Flashing Lights' and 'Put On.'

T-pain makes good club music  But if you ain't into that shit, you'd most likely hate it.

Anyway, I agree Kanye can't sing for shit, but my focus was more on his musical direction, all those singing rappers never actually strayed too far from hip-hop/jazz and made songs with mass appeal(plus they sang better  ). I think this comes down to our tastes in music outside of hip-hop maybe.

MF DOOM Returns With New Album, Produced By Dilla (hiphopdx.com)

As fans scrambled over recent turmoil regarding MF DOOM's touring [click to read], the masked emcee has reportedly been hard at work in the studio.
Now simply called DOOM, the KMD frontman will release his first new album in over three years, titled Born Into This, according to Prefix Magazine. The effort will be released on Lex Records, the label responsible for Danger DOOM's Mask & The Mouse album in 2005 [click to read].
Born Into This will feature production from Dangermouse and J Dilla, as well as appearances from frequent collaborator Ghostface and now Raekwon. The album is presently intended to be released on October 21.
Between 2002 and 2005, DOOM released nearly a half-dozen projects, including duo albums, instrumental series and various alias-titled projects for labels included Rhymesayers, Stones Throw, Big Dada, Nature Sounds and others.
In related news, next month will also feature the re-release of DOOM's critically-acclaimed solo debut, Operation Doomsday, on his own Metal Face Records. Initially released on Fondle 'Em Records, the release was re-released in 2001 on Doom's imprint, and has been heavily bootlegged by other manufacturers.

FINALLY! And production by Dilla?  Looks like the we'll be hearing some unofficial DillaDOOM afterall.   The re-release of Operation Doomsday is great news as well!  What happened to the Ghost collabo though? =\
