Not to be alarmist, hearing that this will be at the end of March totally changes some things about what I had assumed.
I've heard somewhere before (don't remember where) that contract re-signings are in April. I think this was gone over once before when there was news that Maeda Yuki was graduating, but then that news was retracted. In that case, it may be entirely possible that a bunch of them didn't want to re-sign with UFA, or re-signed under different UFG companies prompting this mass graduation.
If they're no longer UFA, at least some of their contracts could go to J.P. Room (still under UFG), which was previously mentioned. They already have Ogawa, Fujimoto, and Manoeri listed as "talents" instead of "artists". J.P.Room's website describes it as having to do with TV production and Stage productions. I wouldn't be surprised if we see a bunch of familiar names appear on their talent list. Remember, UFA isn't the only company that UFG has.
Even if the absolute worst happens and none of them have their contracts under UFG companies anymore, I'm betting that more than a few of them will keep going in the entertainment business. With cases like MKB, even if they're completely gone, that's what, 9 years? How many groups last even half that?
But realistically, does anyone here think for a second that UFG would want to completely let go of Abe, Ishikawa, or Matsuura? If they aren't retaining them under UFA or one of their other companies, you can probably bet that they didn't let them go willingly. Which means that it would have been the girls' choice to not re-sign.
I'd prefer that their contracts stay right where they are now, but as the Elder Club members' activities spread out, UFG may have decided that some of their other companies could handle them better. If UFA's main purpose is to be the management agency for music groups, and a bunch of these Elder Club members don't do much except go on stage or on TV, it just makes sense for UFG to move their contracts to another child company that specializes in those activities.
So even if they're not with UFA, by no means does that mean that they've left UFG.
If you're still having trouble keeping positive about all this, there's some good analysis on the previous pages. Read some of that, and maybe this whole thing might not be as bad as you thought.
