Kara's best album takes No. 2 spot on Oricon daily chart

Korean girl group Kara's best album has taken the No. 2 spot on the prestigious Oricon daily albums chart with their latest release.

According to the Oricon chart, the girls' record "KARA BEST 2007-2010," which went on sale in the country on September 29, came in second place with 18,223 copies sold, following behind Japanese songstress JUJU’s album “Request,” which went on sale the same day, with 19,974 copies.

Kara, who signed with Universal Music Group's sub-label Universal Music Sigma for their music activities in Japan, have made a successful debut into the country which came in May.

Their debut single album "Mister," which was released on August 11 in the country, earned them the title as the first Asian female group to place in the top 10 on the weekly singles chart, while their DVD titled “KARA VACATION” placed at No. 11, the highest rank for an Asian DVD to reach on the chart.

Known as one of the most popular girl groups in Korea, Kara splashed onto the local music scene in 2007 with their first album "Blooming" and have produced hits songs "Pretty Girl," "Wanna" and Lupin."

They will be releasing their second Japanese single in early November.

KARA is getting another HUGE push in Japan. The Family Mart chain of convenience stores (Maybe, the 3rd largest after 7-11 & Lawsons? Maybe bigger than Lawson's?) is doing a "We Love the Korean Invasion" campaign and KARA has 3rd-top billing for prizes! If anybody out there thinks I might be overshopping at Family Mart for the next month or so... and buying some Suntory drinks preferentially because of this campaign... they're correct that I'm a sucker. Why does this crap work on me?

Kara's album receives most downloads on iTunes Japan

Korean female idols Kara have grabbed another title in Japan with their best album becoming the most downloaded record on iTunes Japan.

On Friday, the girls' agency DSP Media announced that "KARA BEST 2007-2010" was the No. 1 downloaded album on iTunes Store Pop.

It was the second best-selling album on the prestigious Oricon daily albums chart on September 29.

The special album features their hit songs such as "Pretty Girl," "Honey," "Lupin" and "Mister," the last song also being the group's Japanese debut single, starting from when they debuted in 2007.

Kara has led a successful music career in Japan since May this year, becoming the first Asian female group to place in the top 10 on the weekly singles chart with their album "Mister" and their DVD "KARA VACATION" reaching the highest rank for an Asian DVD.

They are currently preparing for their appearance on Asashi TV's popular live music show "Music Station" on October 15.

The quintet will release their second Japanese single next month.
