Nice to see Bertuzzi, Spezza, and Staal there. In some ways, I was hoping that Crosby would be included as well, but it's probably for the best that he isn't this year. Let him build up more experience and further develop his game. That way, in 2010 (when the games are in Vancouver/Whistler), he'll be a definite MUST have.

I like this Quebec MP are complaining about Shane Doan's selection - saying he said a slur to some refs.

The competition looks rough. Czechs are stacked with Jagr and Hemsky leading the way. Swedes got Captain Sundin, Forsbeg, Nasland. Too bad US dropped JR, I doubt they'd be as strong as in Salt Lake.

So I was watching Sportscentre, and on comes this report about some fuckin' politician from Quebec is throwing a hissy fit over Shane Doan's being named to the Olympic team because he thinks Doan made anti-francophone remarks at a recent Coyotes/Habs game in Montreal. Talk about some fucking nerve, sullying the naming of the Olympic hockey team by bringing politics into the discussion. If you ask me he's just trying to draw attention to the fuckin' election.

The NHL did an investigation about the incident and determined that Doan didn't do anything wrong and said he didn't have to apologize or anything like that. However that doesn't seem to be good enough for this politician, who still believes that the remarks were made. He's demanding that Doan publicly apologize for making the alleged remarks (which the NHL investigation determined were not made), and that Hockey Canada remove Doan from the lineup. You know what I say to that politician? Two words: PROVE IT!!! And "witnesses" don't count because the game was in Montreal, so of course the fans there are gonna say he badmouthed francophones (even if he didn't really do it). The politician needs some HARDCORE proof, ie. video footage in which we see and, more importantly, HEAR Doan making these alleged comments.

The dude was on the radio today...Liberals are so inconsistent on their ethics and this guy was defending that he just wanted Doan to jsut admit it. And he got problems with these pro guys representing the country? Like Heatley and his who manslaughter deal.

Whoa. Oilers beat the Kings 5-3 on a goal off the skate by Hemsky. And Canucks lose 6-5 in SO...who'd thunk. 2nd in the West??

I agree. Without some actual evidence to back up the accusations, it's just his word against Doan's.
