"Tomochin~"
"Hai?"
"Remember that song we used to sing when we were little?"
"Which one?"
"You know~ The ashes one!"
"Nope sorry I can't remember."
"Eh?! We used to sing it all the time though! It was a our song!"
"Sorry I don't remember."
"Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, without you there'd be no-"
"Gomen Chiyuu I'm just really busy with work and all."
"Mou you're always busy with work!
"I'm sorry babe I promise I'll make up for it later but for now I gotta go."
"Ok..."
I watched you get up and start to walk out the door but then I stopped you and said,
"Baby~"
I held out your lunch box and you quickly rushed back over.
"Thanks babe~"
You kissed me on the cheek and then off you were. Honestly I don't know what you'd do without me. Always working so hard that you forget to do the basic things like eat! Seriously if it weren't for me you'd be somewhere else probably starved to death. We've been dating for a while now and so far things have been good. We finally moved out of my parent's house and get a place of our own. Ever since then you've been working hard trying to keep up with the rent and also my needs. You really are a hard worker and that's one of the many reasons why I fell in love with you. Now the next thing is to figure out what to do while you're gone. Being the person I am, I Kasai Tomomi, am officially the clumsiest person on Earth. I cannot hold down a job for more than a day without getting fired for something. Last time it was the copy machine and the job before that I had punched a customer. Well he touched my butt so I had the right! Still I got fired anyways. I can't even watch kids without letting them run off and them getting hurt! That's why Tomochin said I should just stay a simple housewife.
Now at first I didn't want to be a housewife because I knew I could do better. I wanted to be useful and help Tomochin. Sadly though my clumsiness is still pretty bad and I started to think that I should just stay at home. However I'm not going to let that stop me from my womanly duties! I'm going to show Tomochin that I can be a good girlfriend and not destroy anything. Since it was still morning I thought that I would take a shower. I ran to the bathroom with my ducky in one hand and towel in the other. Even though I was taking a shower I still liked bringing my ducky because it reminded me of Tomochin when she did her duck face. Anyways after the shower I got dressed and decided to get a snack. Looking in the refrigerator, I saw that Tomochin had gotten be more banana pudding! I really love Tomochin because she always gets me my banana pudding. I grabbed a spoon and then sat down on the couch where I turned on the TV.
"In other new, locals reported to see a half lizard half human creature roaming the streets-"
"Lame~"
I hated news station and started to look for other shows to watch. I saw there was nothing in so I decided to grab the TV guide and see if there were any of my favorite programs scheduled. I picked it up and from under it a saw a folder with Tomochin's name on it.
"New School Project.. WAH!"
I had just remembered that Tomochin had an important meeting today and she was going to use this folder to present to the head board members! Wah if she doesn't have this then she's doomed! I quickly put on my best running shoes and then grabbed the folders. I stepped out the door and ran to nearest bus station.
"Hang on Tomochin.. Chiyuu is coming!"
I managed to get on the bus just as it was leaving and sadly it was super crowded. I had to stand and hold onto the rail as the bus moved. With every sharp turn and abrupt stop, everyone's body jerked and we all smushed into each other really tightly. I really hated being so close to so many people but I had no choice really. Now Tomochin's meeting was a three and it was two thirty now. It's a fifteen minute walk from the bus station to Tomochin's work so if I ran I could cut the time in half! I had my plan all figures out and all that was left was to set it into action. There was another turn and once again I was smushed into the person next to me. At the same time I also felt something touch my butt. At first I thought it was just an accident but then the same thing happened the next three times. I looked through a mirror above me and saw a really creepy guy staring at me. I couldn't believe this so on the next turn I stepped back and forced my elbow out.
"Ahhhhck!"
I elbowed him straight in the gut and then the bus doors opened so I ran out the bus. I had made it and now all that was left was to run. However I had forgotten one thing which was I had no idea where Tomochin's work was. I remember she told me that there was a supermarket she would always stop by on her way home. I saw one near by so I started to run in that direction as fast as I could. I ran for about ten minutes and then I saw a store that I always went to that was in the exact opposite direction that Tomochin's work was.
"Yabai!!"
I had gone the wrong way and I only had five minutes left. I was going to have to go super fast now so I took a deep breath and then charged full speed. I ran past several people and other things not even touching anything. I ran and ran until I finally I made it to the big building. I rushed inside and ran up the SIX flight of stairs all the way to Tomochin's office. I asked where she was and they said she was in the meeting that was just starting. I quickly ran up another FOUR flights of stairs and into the meeting room. There were a bunch of old business guys who I didn't really care about but what I did see was Tomochin who was at the front. I walked over to her and she said,
"What are you doing here?!"
I was so out of breath that I almost passed out.
"You.. forgot.. this.."
I handed Tomochin the file and she looked at me with a surprised face.
"Oh my God I can't believe I forgot this! Thanks Chiyuu."
"No.. problem..."
That was the last thing I was able to say before passing out right there in the meeting room. When I came to, I was in Tomochin's office and the door opened. In came Tomochin with a bottle of water.
"Hey you're awake!"
"D-Did the meeting go alright?" I asked.
"It went great. They accepted the deal and now there will be a new school built not too far from our place." you said.
"That's.. great."
"Here I think you need this."
Tomochin handed me the water and I quickly chugged it down in two seconds flat. Luckily she had brought more for me and I was happy. She also brought me some ramen from the cafeteria and we ate together happily. When we finished I let out a small burp of satisfaction and laid back. Tomochin patted my head and said,
"Thank you for today. I couldn't have done it without you."
"Mou I ran all the way here and ran up ten flights of stairs for you!" I said with a pout.
"Why didn't you take the elevator?" you asked.
"It was too slow~"
"Thank you Chiyuu. Now I better go take you home now. You must be tired."
"No!"
"Eh?"
A brilliant idea had just come to my head at the moment.
"Let me stay and help you!"
"Eh? Um I don't think that would be a good idea.."
"Come one please~"
I used my puppy dog eyes that I know you can't resist.
"Well alright. Just don't break anything ok?"
"Hai~"
With that you left and now it was just me and your office. I could totally handle being a secretary for Tomochin! All I had to do was answer calls right? I thought it was simple so I sat at the desk and waited for a call. The phone went off and I answered it.
"Itano's office this is Kasai speaking." I said in a professional tone.
"Yes I would like to know if she is there. May I speak with her?" a woman said.
"No I'm sorry she's in a meeting now. If you leave her your name and number I'll have you call her back."
"Ah yes my name is..."
I wrote down the woman's name and number on a sticky note and then hung up. I put the sticky note on Tomochin's computer screen and felt very proud of myself. I felt very professional and I actually did something without messing up! I think this job is really going to suit me well. Just then another call came in and this time it was a woman asking how the meeting went. I told her what had happened and she had seemed very happy. Apparently she was the principal and wanted to ask Tomochin out to lunch to thank her. I wrote out the date and time and hung up afterwards. However as soon as I had hung up another person called. It was a man asking where to leave a package that Tomochin must have ordered. I myself wondered what she had ordered so I just told him to leave it outside on the door step. After that most of the calls were just appointment scheduling and sales people. It was getting late and I thought Tomochin would like some coffee so I got up and poured a cup for her.
When I got back I saw Tomochin had walked in and was surprised to see me. More importantly she saw the heart I had made out of sticky notes on her computer. Hey I was bored so I decided to be creative. Can you blame me? Anyways I handed her a coffee and then said,
"Ok so one person wants to call you back, I've scheduled a lunch meeting with the principal, I told the delivery guy to leave the package on the front, you have an appointment tomorrow at ten on the fourth floor, one on Wednesday at two, two on Thursday one on the tenth floor at one and another one at the school. Oh you also have to attend the opening of the school next Monday and then Friday evening we're going to a dinner party I've already arranged transport and invitations to hand out."
Tomochin just stared at me with a really surprised look and I smiled. I bet she wasn't expecting me to do so much. You smiled and walked over to hug me tightly. You kissed my cheek and said,
"Thank you so much Chiyuu. Really thank you."
"Anything for my girlfriend~"
"Awww you cutie~"
We left that night happy because I got a new job as Tomochin's secretary and I was really happy! Now I wouldn't have to be alone all the time while Tomochin was at work. We went out to dinner and then got home with full bellies and sleepy eyes. We got into the bed and cuddled close holding each other. Before we fell asleep I asked,
"Nee Tomochin.. Do you remember the song now?
"Um I think I do. You start it." she said.
"Ashes to ashes~"
"Dust to dust~"
"Without you.."
"There'd be no us.."
