“Hey! Why are you on top?”
“Because I’m older.” Maki smirked.
“No fair…” Reina stuck out her tongue in a pout, but couldn’t help but to grin.
“Ready, and GO!!” The television shouted, the two were in Reina’s room, playing a new racing game on her Nintendo Wii. Maki had the top half of the screen, whereas Reina had the bottom.
The two cars on the screen zoomed off, pretty much tied until Maki managed to find a shortcut, putting her in lead.
“Hey! That’s no fair!” Reina said, pushing Maki lightly with grin. Maki laughed and returned the push with one of her own.
Minutes later they had completely ditched the game and were wrestling on the floor like a couple of children, laughing and fooling around. Pillows soon became part of their mini war, a mess of feathers flying through the air as they attacked one another with the fluffy weapons.
Eventually, the two were completely worn out, watching some random television show that happened to be on TV. Reina’s head laid on Maki’s lap, who gently stroked her hair as they talked. Of course, they both had to continue to mentally remind themselves they were ‘just friends’ throughout the conversation. Friends do that stuff all the time, right?
“…After that we caught them in an office.” Reina laughed lightly, “Pretty much from then on, Gaki-san and Tettekette have been rather open with their relationship.”
“Wow, that’s sure a story to tell. Sounds like something a perverted American fanfic writer would think of.” Maki said, “I mean, Miki told me about the bath thing but wow…I never knew that they would tell others about that, even after Miki and Aya caught them. I‘ll never think of bath jelly the same again.”*
Reina looked up at Maki, “Yeah, and I was told this while eating.” she said, making a face.
Maki laughed, “Well, I thank you for not telling me while I was eating.” she said with a smile, “Now sit up, I want to play around with your hair.”
Reina raised an eyebrow, but did as she was told. Maki then sat on the couch, telling Reina to sit on the floor with her back against the couch. Once again, Reina did as she was told and went to sit down between Maki’s legs, like many girls do when someone played around with their hair. Yet, as she was about to sit, her hand grazed across Maki’s upper thigh on accident, causing both the girls to blush, yet pretend it never happened.
Of all the times for Maki to wear sexy tight jeans, it had to be TODAY!?Mental kick.
Maki ran her hands through Reina’s hair, thinking of what she could do with it as she spoke. “Ugh…I’m getting fat.” she said, laughing lightly, “Always do during this time of the year.”
Reina laughed, “Yeah, you’re getting real fat.” she said with a sarcastic tone.
“It’s true.” Maki replied, lifting up her shirt slightly and pinching a small amount of flub. “See?”
Reina turned and looked over at the soloist’s stomach.
Damn, she has a nice stomach…Mental kick.
Reina blushed at the thoughts running through her mind, trying to ignore them.
“Even if you are getting ‘fat’ you still look really good.” she said, praying that it didn’t sound weird.
It was Maki’s turn to blush. “Thank you.” she said with a smile.
Reina nodded, returning the smile with one of her own and faced forward once more so Maki could continue to play with her hair.
They talked about various, random things as Maki gave Reina various, random hairstyles. At one point neither of them knew what was funnier, the idea that Nacchi was secretly seeing Tsunku (they don’t know how they managed to get that conversation going), or the huge bun right on top of Reina’s head. (They had been trying to figure out why the hell Nono seemed to like that hairstyle so much.)
Maki and Reina eventually decided to stick with simple low pigtails that laid over her shoulders.
“Thank you.” Reina said with a grin as she stood up, “Hey, are you hungry at all?”
Maki nodded, “You’re welcome.” her stomach than made a funny growl which caused her to laugh, “Well, apparently I am hungry.”
Reina laughed lightly, walking over to her fridge, “Okay, we have…” she opened it up, “…Nothing.” she scratched the back of her head, “Heh, I completely forgot to go shopping.”
Maki walked over to her, “How about we go to my apartment? I’ll cook us something.”
“Okay, that sounds like a good plan, I’ll help too.”
The two walked down the halls, naming foods they could cook but someone’s voice stopped them. The pair couldn’t help but to wonder who it was, they peeked from around the corner to see Eri coming out from a room, her hair wet.
“I came to watch a movie, ended up taking a shower but didn’t get any cleaner…” Eri mumbled to herself, laughing a little bit.
Maki and Reina exchanged slightly freaked out glances, and decided without words that it’d be best to confront her.
“Hey, Eri-chan, what’ve you been up to?” Maki asked with a raised eyebrow as the two walked up to her.
“Yeah, and who’s room is this?” Reina added.
Eri jumped at the sudden voices, and turned around to face them. Her face was already red, but it seemed to become more flushed as she spoke.
“Nothing! It’s nobody’s room!” the now panicking turtle said a little too loudly to be considered a normal reply. Once she realized that Reina and Maki were going to question her more, she ran off. “I didn’t do anything!”
Reina and Maki looked at one another, confused slightly.
“Was it just me or did it look…” Reina started.
“…Like she had a hickey on her neck?” Maki finished.
“Looked like there was more than one.”
“Yeah, that’s kind of--”
Maki was cut off by another voice behind the door that was now slowly opening.
“Eri! You forgot your pan--” the woman paused, and then leaned against the door frame, looking from Maki to Reina, and then back again.
Both of the girls jaws dropped and their eyes widened at the person.
“Nakazawa-san?”
“That’s me.” Yuko said with a smirk as the girls stood there in shock. “Did you two scare Eri off?”
Before either of them could respond, Yuko pulled out her cell phone and dialed a number and put the phone to her ear.
“Eri, hello…Yeah, I know we just saw each other but you forgot something here…What is it, eh? Well, I’ll give you a hint. They’re light blue with little turtles on them.” Reina could hear Eri give a small squeak from over the phone, which made Yuko smirk even more. “Yup, that’s what you forgot, why don’t you come and pick them up, m’dear?…Yeah, okay. See you soon. Much love.” She then closed to phone and put it into her pocket, looking back over at Reina and Maki.
“I noticed that you two made my little Eri run off.” Yuko said as she stepped closer to the pair, grinning. “I must punish you for that. I mean, fair is fair, correct?”
Before Yuko’s last sentence was finished, Maki and Reina were running out of the Hello! Project apartments.
“Wow…I never saw that coming.” Maki said once they were a good distance from the building and had stopped running.
“Yeah, makes you wonder what happened before and after shootings for Maido Arii.”
