CHAPTER 9 “Who are you?” he said, they were all shocked on the sudden question
“Kai..She’s acchan..Your wife..” his mother told him, acchan was pinned on that position looking at him
“….I just dreamed about you..But I don’t know your name..And I’m married? But I’m still on college”
When Riku heard this he immediately called the doctor who’s an expert on this “Sou…This situation rarely happen, but in his case, the patients memory was moved back five years ago..As you’ve know amnesia has no cure, We just have to wait if he remembers everything but still this is not an assurance because there’s also a possibility that he would not remember it forever” the doctor explained
They were more worried on acchan because they don’t want her to depress at her body state right now. She’s listening carefully to the doctor while glancing at her husband, on her mind this isn’t the time to give up instead being thankful that kai is still alive.
“As his wife I know this is difficult but don’t lose hope, a person with amnesia has only lost his memory but not his feelings. I know kai would recognize you not physically but emotionally” the doctor encouraging her
“Arigatou..I shall do that Doctor..I know my husband..I shall help him remember everything..” she calmly smiled that made everyone relief but deep inside she has no idea where to start doing that.
After almost 2 weeks staying in the hospital the doctor finally release takahashi kai. Kai’s parent’s offers acchan to stay in their house so that they can help and monitor about their son’s memories, but acchan insisted she wants to do it on her own, so the adult respect her decision as his wife.
“Acchan dear..Please tell us right away if anything happens were just a call away..” Kai ‘s mom hold her hands.
“We will be definitely go here as fast as lightning take more care of yourself your bearing a life inside you don’t have to be too stress out.. ” she nods and show off her smile to her mother in law, they were even more worried about her than kai.
“kai my son.. I know this is hard for you too but we already talk about this man to man in the hospital right? And you agreed with me.. This is your life now..no..they are your life now.. Just take it easy to understand all of this.. Yes it will be hard, but no one wants this to happen.. We are not forcing you remember everything, we only want you to start a new memory with us and especially with your family” His father talk to him seriously.
“I will dad, I will do everything in my part and yeah slowly..I know I can abide this situation, destiny is testing me..” he replied.
“Kai..dear..Take good care of wife she’s in her delicate stage..” his mom patted him on shoulder
“Ahh Daijoubu desu.. I will be taking care of him, kai has just come out from the hospital..We’ll be alright” acchan bow her head a little to her in laws.
When the adults were gone, the couple went inside to their room to fix some things, acchan organizing kai’s medicines making sure to separate it by name and by schedule while kai just look at her in the mirror. Silence filled the master’s bedroom where before it was the happiest place for them where they can be alone and have their own private time. The clock was the only sound ticking both of them can merely hear their heartbeat, so quite that even birds can be deaf.
“ano..” they both said it together
“uhmm” and again
“You first” and again until they both smile
“Anything kai?” acchan quickly grab the opportunity to talk first.
“n..nothing, I just want to know how do I call you..before I had this accident..” he shyly asked awkwardness appears in his face.
His wife give him a sweet smile and sit beside him on bed “You used to call me by my first name..unlike the others they call me by my nick, but you’re different and you’re the only one who called me that..”
“Atsuko??”
“Uhn..”
“Atsuko….Atsu..ko..”
“hai…?” acchan drew near closer to him as he say her name repeatedly.
“I like your name..atsuko..I felt like my mouth love to say it..” acchan’s face flushing red in a moment and avoid their eye contact. Kai notice something in her.
“Your pendant..I gave it right?”
“Yes..You remembered?” a small light of hope open in acchan’s heart
“I do remember the pendant because my grandmother gave it to me.. she said I will heir that to someone I love the most..”
“You gave it to me as my birthday present before you got the accident..”
Kai hold her hands “I’m sorry if I don’t remember anything about you.. but I’m sure I really love you because even that pendant I gave it to you..”
“You even put our names on it..” she showed it to him, that made kai hold his head trying to remember everything but ended up aching “arrhhhhgg”
“Kai????” acchan panicked
“I’m fine.. I wish I could turn the time back..Im sorry..”
“No need..Don’t overdo it.. You’re still not fully recovered” she laid his head on the bed made him rest and cover him blanket. “Just rest okay? No need to hurry..We have lots of time.. Let’s do it slowly and let’s do it together..” kissing him on the forehead, when she was about to stand kai grab her hand and touch her baby bump.
“I just hope you won’t give up on me even if I can’t recover from this memory lost..”
“I won’t..I vowed..We vowed in sickness and in health till death do we part..” her tears were about to fall but she endured it, not showing any weakness to her husband. Thinking that this is the time kai needed her, she must not fail.
Days passed again slowly from scratch kai was getting to know acchan and his old life, their hobbies, their favorite time together from movies to music, from food to places and more. Showing some pictures when they were together as kai asking from when and where acchan whole heartedly answers it reminiscing those times.
“Atsuko?”
“Nani?”
“Just where did we met? You haven’t told me that yet..”
Acchan gulp and pause for a moment before she could answer back “it’s like we met accidentally” she continues to scan some pics.
“Like how? and where?”
DEG DEG DEG in her deep breath “We made love accidentally..” acchan releasing a deep sigh.
“Honto DESU??” her wife nods.
Until the door bell rang
“Ah it must be yuko and riku..” acchan says
“Let me open it..” kai volunteered, and acchan was left in the living room but still she can see him. As he opened the door a surprisingly visitor visits.
“Kaiii…” The girl worriedly hugs him, kai looks back to his wife asking in her eyes “Who is she?” as acchan stands narrowing her eyes on their sudden visitor.
“The nerve! How dare you show your face here??” Another visitor shouting outside to the girl how hugs kai.
“Yuuchan calm down..” Riku was behind her.
“No..” she swayed her boyfriends approach on her hands and grab the girls arms pulling it to stay away from kai.
“Ahh Sumimasen for the rude greeting of my girlfriend” Riku plead
“You don’t have to that riku kun.. she deserves it! What are you up to now bitch?” yuko looking at her
“Im just here to visit kai..I heard he got an accident..” imposingly answer.
“No need to Ray.. Kai is fine now..” Acchan coldly answered
“Chotto.. What’s goin on? Atsuko? Riku dude? and Yuko? Can someone tell me who is she?”
“Kai you..you don’t remember me? I’m ray….”
“Your ex..” acchan continued. “Seriously Ray.. Leave us..Don’t let me call the guards to drag you..I still remember what you did to me..” In just one command Ray leave at once, but marking them a sight that she will come back.
“Sasuga acchan! That’s my girl!” yuko cheering her
“Let’s go inside..I’m still confused here..” kai offering them their house as he assist her pregnant wife.
As they explain ray’s identity kai listen’s carefully, it was riku who was telling the whole story about Ray being his fiancée, they broke up, and the wrong action ray did that almost cause acchan and their baby’s lost.
“I can’t believe she did that all..”
“She loves you so much..” acchan interrupts
“Still it’s wrong..” yuko shook her head.
“I need to talk to her..” kai suddenly blurt out.
“No need dude..” riku attempts to change his mind
“I need to..There’s something in me tells me to do it.. Atsuko? Will it be alright?”
Honestly she’s against but she still say yes “Do what you want kai if that will help you..” Release a sweet smile but her heart is worried, kai meet ray first so many what if’s in her mind but the most agonizing to all is…. what if kai fall in love to ray again? She’s his ex fiancée and they almost get married. She can’t set this aside on her mind because kai is still starting to know her too.
