Chapter 8
Yuko's POVDad's new case was a bit difficult for me to handle. There was too much blood at the crime scene and I couldn't help to feel disgusted. My dad noticed how disgusted I was, and he tried to tell me to go home, but I insisted to stay and watch.
After two hours they still weren't done. I decided to say goodbye to my dad and I left the crime scene. I was thinking of going back to school just so I could walk home with Takamina but I didn't want to go to the last two classes I had. They were too boring! I also already told Takamina that I would just see her tomorrow....
Ugh!! I want to see my girlfriend...mmh...girlfriend...I felt myself smile. I really liked the fact that I could call her
my girlfriend now.
Ah! That reminds me...We have a date tomorrow! What kind of date would she like?!? Where should I take her?!?
As I was thinking of Takamina, I bumped into someone. We both landed on the floor. I stood up and dusted myself. I looked down at the person I bumped.
"Ah! Sorry, I didn't mea-...Kojima-san?" I recognized her as Takamina's cousin.
"Oshima?" She looked at me curiously. I took her hand and helped her up.
"What are you doing here?" I asked.
"Shouldn't I ask that? Shouldn't you be at school?" She asked with a raised eyebrow.
"You look about my age...so why aren't
you at school?!" I retorted back.
"Actually I'm a year older than you! I'm about to move with Takamina, so I still haven't registered in her school. Now, Why aren't
you in school?" She smirked.
I fidgeted with the hem of my skirt. "W-Well, I was with my dad!"
She giggled. "I don't really care for school, so it's okay~ So what are you doing here Oshima-san?"
"Call me Yuko, I was with my dad and I didn't feel like staying with him anymore, so I was just about to go home..."
"Oh okay...call me Haruna then...well, I'm going to surprise Takamina, so I'll see you around!" She waved and went to the direction of Takamina's house.
I smiled, Takamina loves surprises...She'll be happy. I hope I become friends with Haruna....I smiled like an idiot the rest of the way home thinking of the date for tomorrow....
Atsuko's POV"C-Can y-you give me a makeover tomorrow?" She asked with hopeful eyes.
"Uh....Y-Yeah...Sure...I said I would didn't I?" I smiled, but somehow it felt kind of forced. It confused me. Didn't I volunteer to help her with Oshima?
Once she heard my reply she squealed happily and hugged me. "Yay!! Thank you!"
Suddenly when she hugged me, I felt heat creeping up into my cheeks and my heart started to beat faster. Even though I was dazed, I hugged her back, unconsciously enjoying the close contact. When she pulled back I could feel myself getting sad that the nice warmth was gone.
"W-Welcome...D-Do you want me to come to your house tomorrow?" I said while trying to look away to hide my red face.
"Sure!...Ah! Were you about to eat?" She said. I looked at her and saw her looking at my lunch.
"Yeah, Did you e-...Why are you getting up?" She stood up and looked down at me.
"I thought you might want to eat your lunch by your self...." She said shyly. I smiled at her and reached out for her hand. I pulled her down which made her go into eye level with me. Her face was really close to mine, so I could see the blush forming on her cheeks.
"I need your company~" I begged for her to stay with my eyes.
She pulled her hand away and cutely moved her head backwards as she continued to blush. "O-Okay..." She sat down as she hid her face.
We sat together in silence while I ate. Deciding to break the awkward silence, I spoke. "So....Why do you like Oshima-san?....Just curious...I know she's pretty, but I have a feeling that you not one to care about appearances... " I said as I put my empty lunch box away and looked in her direction.
She blushed cutely as she fidgeted with the hem of her skirt. "Your right...Yuu-chan is pretty, but appearances are nothing to me...I don't know why..."
She looked at me. "Yuko's...just....Yuko..." She said as she shyly smiled.
"Mhmm~" I didn't know what else to say.
Takamina looked at her watch and stood up. "Gotta go to class~ You should go too, school idol~" I found it cute that she was mocking me. I just smiled and waved.
Weird...That unwanted feeling came back when we started talking about Oshima...I talked to Tomochin about it and she said it was jealousy...
But....Why am I jealous?
Takamina's POVEven though Yuko tells me I can't, I could feel myself skipping to class. Today has been the happiest day of my life.
1.) Yuko confessed.
2.) Yuko ate lunch with me and asked me out for our first date.
3.) Acchan is going to give me a makeover!
I happily sighed as I sat in my seat. As I was looking out the window, daydreaming. I felt someone tap my shoulder. I turned around to have my content smile slowly disappear.
"Yokoyama-san..."
She sheepishly smiled and bowed. "Takamina-san..." That surprised me, usually she would just be informal and mean to me. I wondered what she wanted from me this time.
"D-Do you need anything?" I asked politely.
Her smile seemed to transform into a shy one. "About yesterday-"
"It's fine! I'm not going to tell!" I said kind of frantically as I interrupted her. She kept her shy smile as she replied.
"It's not that...I wanna say sorry..." She bowed. "It was a stupid thing to do, I hope you can forgive me..."
A sincere smile formed on my face. "O-Of course...Don't worry about it, I already forgave you yesterday... We're all human, aren't we, we make mistakes sometimes..." She stood straight and smiled brightly.
"Thank you...gotta go...the bell's about to ring... Bye Takamina-san." She bowed again and waved as she left the classroom. I smiled as I looked out the window.
4.) I made a new friend.
After SchoolI miss Yuko~
Usually, she would comeback to school after she hangs around her dad, but I guess today is different. I sighed as I walked up to my front door.
As I was looking for my house key, I heard something fall inside my house. I turned the door knob and found it unlocked. I panicked.
What if it's a burglar?!? I slowly walked inside, I heard clanking of pots and pans in my kitchen I carried an umbrella I picked up from the entrance and held on to it tightly. I opened my kitchen door and...
"Ahhh!"
"Ahhh!"
I was about to swing the umbrella, but I caught sight of the trespasser's face.
"Nyan-Nyan?!?" She was holding a pan getting ready to hit me, but once she heard me, she stopped and looked at me.
"Hi Takamina~" She smiled and waved like I wasn't about to hit her with an umbrella a second ago. I giggled and raised my hand to flick her on the forehead.
"You scared me!" I said as I watched her rub her forehead.
"Takamina, that hurt!!! I'm older than you, so you should be respecting me!! Also, It's a surprise!!!" She pouted as she crossed her arms, with the pan still in one of her hands.
"Thank you..." I made her put the pan down and gave her a tight hug.
"You're welcome." She hugged back just as tight. We ate the food she made and afterwards we started to talk.
"So did you stay here all day?" I asked as we sat in my bedroom after eating dinner.
"No~ I went around town to explore~...Oh! By the way, I saw your Yuko today!" She said as she changed into a more relaxed position as she played with her precious PSP.
"Really? When?"
"I'm not sure, but I think it was about two hours ago..."
"Umm...Nyan-Nyan..."
"Mhmmm?" She dragged her eyes away from her PSP and looked at me.
"Yuko confessed..." Her eyes widened and she let go of her PSP and sat up.
"When?!?"
"This morning..."
"Ahhh!! So fast! I'm so happy for you! You're finally in a relationship!" She said as she jumped up and down on my bed.
I blushed. "It's a big deal...."
"Yes it is!!! She's your first girlfriend!!! When will you have a date?"
"Tomorrow~"
"Then you should go to sleep! Can I sleep here?" She asked as she got under the covers. I just rolled my eyes at her.
"Why do you even need to ask? You're already getting ready to sleep...." I said as I got up to turn off the light.
"Just to have permission~ Good night~"
"Night, Nyan-Nyan~" I smiled as I slipped into the comfort of my warm blanket. I took off my glasses and slowly drifted into my dream world.
The Next Day-Ding Dong-
I hope they think no one is home and leave. I thought as I put a pillow over my ear.
-Ding Dong-
They should give up by now. I thought as I tried to go back to my dream world.
-Ding Dong-
BAM! Haruna pushed me off the bed and I ended up facing the floor.
"Oww! Nyan-Nyan! What was that for?!?" I said as I stood up to glare at the unmoving figure on my bed.
-Ding Dong-
"Mm mhm mhm mmhm" Her head was facing one of my pillows so, it was hard to know what she said.
"What?!?" I said as I put on my glasses.
-Ding Dong-
She lifted her her and with her eyes closed she said. "Go get the door!!!"
I knew the person at the door wasn't Yuko, because Yuko would ring the doorbell nonstop. The person behind the door had more patience than Yuko, since the visitor wasn't destroying my doorbell.
I opened the door to reveal a brightly smiling school idol. My eyes widened.
"A-Acchan?? What are you doing here?"
She went in. "Can I come in?"
I rolled my eyes as I closed the door. Seriously, what's the point of asking if you've already done it.
"You're already in..." I mumbled.
"Huh?" She said as she turned around.
"Nothing...So why are you here?" I said changing the subject.
"Give you a make-over, remember?" She said as she kept her smile.
My eyebrows furrowed. "Does make-over start this early?" I looked at the time and it clearly showed
7:30.
"Well, we can~" She said innocently.
"Umm...Okay, but let me get ready...Just help yourself."
"Alright~" She said as she went into my kitchen. I shook my head as I went back into my room.
I saw Haruna still sleeping. I shook her hard, but she was still asleep. I only had one more idea to wake her up.
I grabbed her PSP and yelled, "Nyan-Nyan! I broke your PSP!"
She suddenly shot up and turned to me. I stuck my tongue out at her as soon as she saw me holding her PSP. She had an irritated look on her face as she grabbed her gadget out of my hands.
"Why are you waking me up?" She said her voice filled with irritation.
"I'm gonna leave...I just wanted you to know~"
"It's only 7:39, where are you going?" She asked as she tilted her head.
"A friend is going to give me a make-over...Wanna come?"
"Am I going to see your friend later today?" She asked curiously.
"Possibly..."
She laid back down again. "Then, no, see ya later, have fun...bye." She said as she covered herself with the blanket. I giggled as I walked into my bathroom.
I came out of my room wearing a plain t-shirt and pants. I went to the living room to see Acchan eating a piece of bread. She saw me.
"Is that what kind of clothes you wear?" She asked as she gulped down the rest of her bread.
"Yeah...Is it bad?"
She shook her head. "No...But you can't wear just a t-shirt to a date~ You ready to go?"
I smiled as I nodded. I let her come out first and I locked the front door.
"Um...Where are we going?" I asked nervously.
"To the mall~" She smiled brightly as she took my hand and ran.
"Ah!" She suddenly stopped which caused me to bump into her.
"Ow~ Sorry...What's wrong?" I asked her.
"No, it's okay, it's actually my fault, because I didn't warn you...Anyways, call Oshima and ask her where you'll be going, so we know what to shop for!"
"Oh okay..." I pulled out my phone and called Yuko.
"Hello~" She answered after the second ring.
"Hi" I couldn't help but smile.
"Did you need something, Takamina?""Um..." I covered the speakers as I turned to Acchan.
"What do I say again?" I asked her.
"Ask her, where you guys will be going for your date?" She told me.
I uncovered the speakers and asked her what Acchan told me to. I could hear her whisper to someone else.
"Well, I want to make it a surprise, but wear something formal~""Alright~ See ya later~"
"Bye Takamina~" She said cutely. I couldn't contain myself from smiling wider.
"Bye Yuu-chan~" I hung up and turned to Acchan.
"What'd she say?" She asked curiously.
"She said to wear something formal..." I kind of felt myself frowning at the word 'formal'. Formal meant having to wear a dress. Well, it's for Yuko, right? I sighed.
"You seemed depressed about it..." She asked as we started to walk again.
"Not really depressed...just...I don't know...I don't really like wearing dresses..." I said.
"Ah~ Okay, but since it's for your girlfriend, you have to do it!" She said with a teasing smile.
"For my girlfriend...Yeah! I have to do it!" I nodded as I looked at her.
Atsuko's POV"For my girlfriend...Yeah! I have to do it!" She nodded. She briefly gave me a determined gaze as we continues to walk.
She's too cute!...I kinda want to hug her! I shook my head.
Why am I this way?...I mean friends hug...right? I nodded to myself.
Does that mean I can hug her, now? I looked at her and I noticed that we had stopped walking.
"Are you okay, A-Acchan?" I noticed that she always stuttered as she said my name.
I shook my head. "I'm fine, why?"
"You kept shaking your head and nodding, so I thought..." She trailed off.
"Ah! I was just thinking...Sorry if that worried you..."
"No, it's okay...I guess your one of those deep thinkers, huh?" She giggled and was about to start walking again, but I grabbed her wrist. I wanted to clear something.
"Can you call my name?" I asked curiously.
"A-Acchan..." She blushed as she stuttered.
"Why do you only stutter when you say my nickname?" I whined.
She blushed and looked down. "Um...because...I'm not that use to it yet..." I giggled.
"Alright~ I'll wait for you to get comfortable with me~" I winked and took her wrist and ran.
